Hi,
On my SPV M1500 (Alpine?) under the text messages option, there was an option to enter some frequently used text.
I can't find this option on the M3100 - does it no longer exist - has it been removed, if so - is there another way of doing this?
Cheers
Lee
Not sure if this is what you are looking for.
When you are typing a new SMS, go to `Menu` -> `My Text` -> `Edit My Text Messages...`
Ahh - it's only displayed in the context menu when you're in compose / reply to txt mode!
Cheers

Hello, forgive my newbie ignorance please.
I have a new O2 Hermes, which I have flashed to Cingular:
RUU_HER_Cingular_1.34.502.1_1.16.00.00_wwe_cws_ship
I have attempted the QWERTY-QWERTZ registry fix, but am not yet successful (no big problem).
What is vexing me is that Messaging will not display incoming SMS -- inbox is always empty, but the Start menu says I have Text Messages Unread.
I am also unable to send SMS -- I press 'SEND' and the message sits in the outbox forever -- no error message. I know my SMS gateway is configured correctly, and I can't see anything else to configure except Unicode support.
I also know my account is set up for SMS because I can put my SIM in a conventional handset and it works in and outbound.
My colleague who has the identical Xda with the identical ROM does not have this problem.
Any ideas?
/PhM
is the inbox for the email or the sms or outlook...etc ?
seems simple but I can't find any other reason, there are a couple of inboxes check to see which one you're currently at you can switch through them,
seeing as it says you have unread messages I assume sms is working fine.
Messages clarification
when I click on the 'Text Messages: 8 unread', the device goes to 'Text Messages'
header is 'Inbox' and 'Received'.
the screen is blank exept for the footer 'Text Messages 0 items.
If I click on 'Inbox', I see the different folders 'MMS' (empty), 'Outlook 'Email' (which has the working outlook stuff), and 'Text Messages', which has 'Inbox' empty and 'Outbox' (1) -- the message that refuses to be sent.
It is bizarre behaviour.
I can't send MMS either; composed and 'sent' but stuck in outbox with an envelope+Xsymbol.... (but MMS is more complicated, and not as important to me)
go to messages,
click on menu/tools options,
what accounts do you have there?
you might need to setup a new text message account although it should be there automatically you might need to change the service number.
Hi Phm,
Sound like your SMS center number is not set right - could be wrong but check it here > Start > Settings > Personal > Phone - On the services tab click 'Voice Mail and Text Messages' > Get Settings. The numbers returned should be those as used by your network...
Gav.
Hi Gavin, Hi Darky.
My Messages:toolsptions has accounts:
* Text Messages
MMS
New Account....
text messages only has option 'unicode y/n'.
settingshone:voicemail/text shows:
Text message service centre: +1 (705) 796-9300
Voice Mail: +1 9604) 418-3471
which are correct for Rogers.
for giggles I retype the SMSc entry.
in PHM regedit (not the same PhM ;-) )
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\SMS contains Datagram, Status and TextShared, all empty.
System\State\Messages contains
OtherEmail\Unread (Count:6)
SMS\Unread (count 8, Text 'Text Messages...'
sync (name activesync, unread count 0)
TotalEmail\Unread (count 6)
Vmail line1,2, total (unread count 0)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
comm\cellular\SMS\Protocols\Notification
AppName tmail.exe
and a bunch of other parameters
subtlety: some of the entries point to AppName tmail.exe and others point to \Windows\tmail.exe. (explicit path)
Can I assume there's a path similar to old desktop windows?
HKLM\comm\cellular\SMS\Router and Store are empty.
that's all I see in the registry that might be relevant.
HKLM\Services\SMSReciever looks in order.
Next thing I'll try is reflash the system. But that's a bit like trying to start the car with one foot on the ground.
Hi,
In mine I can see and read SMS, but can't send. Today I found the reason is probably that I got a 32kb SIM' card. My operator is sending me a 64kb. 128kb do also exist.
Not sure this can be linked to your issue though...
SIM size and SMS?
Hi Prerna, interesting idea.
what makes it weird is that I was able to send and receive messages with the 'old' O2 flash. SMS broke when I loaded the Cingular flash I am still using my old Rogers SIM (vintage 2003 or so).
Maybe it's time to upgrade.
/PhM
re-flash helps
Well, I spent an hour, downgraded to the original O2 ROM, then upgraded to the Cingular ROM, and now SMS works again.
I have not yet tried to do the registry tweaks to restore the QWERTZ keyboard.
I wonder if maybe I accidentally broke something when I was poking around in the registry.
For now, SMS is working and that's the main thing

I inserted my new SIM some minutes back, and... It works!
I am now able to send SMS.
Hello,
I've an issue like this:
I could send and recived SMS but some SMS don't work (the one who tell me I've a message)
and apparently it's a know issue from my provider ...
just happened to me too. i have removed sim. put in other fone sent and received one sms. put it back in to my hermes and it started to work :S
i had such problem too until i uninstall the sunnysoft vcard software. After that sms goes fine.
Text Message: 6 Unread - but no messages
There are 6 unread text messages on my today screen but when I highlight it to view it, there are no messages to be read. I keep getting text messages and the counter just adds up but there are no messages at all.
Anyone have any ideas how to solve this? Your help is highly appreciated, thanks!

Hi
You can try the following application. It removes spurious unread message count from the today screen and resets it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32766&d=1167695488
However - I am curious, is it the case that genuine messages are being received but that you just can't view them?
Mike
I had the same problem when I upgraded to any of the WM6 Roms, some days smses worked and others it would just store the smses in the outbox and if someone sent me a sms my phone display would come on but wouldn't indicate a sms, yet my friend would get a delivery report, so all i did was just downgarde to the latest WM5 Rom and problem solved.
How many of you have used a treo 650 or maybe 600. If you have then you will remember how cool it was to send sms (text) messages from that phone. For thos e you havnt used the tero, when send sms message it stored them in a Instant message configuration. So to my question or wish, does anyone know it there is a program for the 8125 (running wm 5) or 8525 (wm6) that will give me this capability ? I hate how the sms messages just pile up on the screen . Any help would be appreciated!
Hmmm, try doing a search for "threaded SMS app" - i don't think you'll have to look too far ;-)
Ok guys, I've searched and dont see this question or suggestion so please dont flame me.
Why is it possible to add a smiley from a new MMS message but not with SMS?
I use Smiley SMS but the smiley icons are very small.
Surely it's a registry hack to allow default compose to be MMS form.
Am I being stupid?
I think you're mixing things up.
MMS are MultiMedia Messages, which can contain large text and attachments (images, video, sound, etc).
SMS are text-only, so you can't put images in those. What SmileySMS does is probably the same thing as SMSChat: interprets the sms's you receive and replaces ": )" (for instance) with a smiley image stored in your device.
When you add a smiley to your message and send it, the other guy won't see a smiley, but ": )", unless he views it with your program too.
So, no, you can't registry-hack it to display images
?
Multimedia Messaging
Short Message Service
Actualy i dont get what your asking but the only simileys you can send via ems but i dont know if windows moblie.
other than that you can send the usual ;-) :-( :-D .
As said already, SMS & MMS are two different types of messages. Only the "smiley" you type goes through as text to the recipient, while SmileySMS recognizes it as an image for you to see.
I understand the differences.
What I was questioning is whether it be possible that the sms compose form be similar to MMS. So if you selected a smiley, it would send "" etc etc
Sony Ericsson and Samsung phones allow you to send SMS messages with animated smileys. It's a shortfall of WM that it doesnt give a better messaging experience.
Thanks for your input guys !!

Yeah, but you'll never really send the smiley, so your will be sent out as : D.
But instead of typing the text equivalent, I'd like to see the smiley and select it, therefore the abbreviation is automatically insterted into message - just as the MMS form does
Surely the Masterchefs can do a hack which can use the MMS form but sends as SMS
I don't know what type of device you have, but if it has a keyboard, then you might try Smilies Input Panel .
Keyboard for text and numbers, and SIP for smilies...
You can even edit it, make sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see how..

i understand what u mean, but the MMS portion sends the graphic (i think) it doesnt inerpret ; - ) and change it to
smilieysms is a plugin for sms, which intercepts the text and uses its own display model to replace ; - ) with
so im guessing, no to use MMS editor, as in both instances it will place the graphic in the text body, and also on received messages, display the received graphic, not ; - ) replaced with
phew!

Nope, the MMS just inserts ascii characters into the text portion of the MMS, try it and see for yourself.
no flaming but please ask questions in the QUESTIONS Thread.
Hi to all, one question :
When I write a text message, and add a smile, the message is automatically converted to MMS.
How can I avoid this?
Is there a solution?
If you use the default Android emoticons it will remain a text message.
If you use the emoticons from Swiftkey or another, those are images and as such cause it to become a media message. That can't be avoided.

I don't use swiftkey, but default android keyboard .
But if i insert a smile (a round face), SMS is converted to MMS.
-Anyway thanks for your answer.

Because those aren't the Android smileys. Those are under Options > Insert Smiley. They're not an image in the text field, but are still the actual symbols. They become a smiley in the dialogue.

Ok, i understand.
In fact i tried it after your suggestion: sms with emoticon , don't change to MMS.
You were very kind. Now everything is clear.
