I know there have been threads on here regarding the relocation of the time and the battery symbol on the today screen.
After looking on a totally independant website, I found a link to a possible solution - RIGHT ON THIS VERY FORUM !!!!!!!
Anyway, have a look.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=261074
If it has been found and posted before, my apologies, I couldn't find it in a search.
Hope it helps some of you out.

Oh yeah, as I said, I did a few search terms but didn't really see anything to suggest it being sorted. LOL
although some prefer otherwise, i like to have the day of the week, date and time on the top bar. instead of the today plugin.

This is off topic in that it has nothing to do with the Wizard, but it is about this particular forum on thie site.
For whatever reason it seems to be sorting by thread name, rather than by last post. All the other forums on the site seem to be sorting by last post. If i click the Last Post heading to make it sort by last post, then leave the forum and come back in, it resets back to sorting by thread name again.
Yes, I am getting exactly the same problem, although only on the Wizard forum!

Yeah thats what i meant, this Wizard forum is the only i see with the problem. Maybe i didn't word it quite right
I am merely interested in removing a few pixels from the bottom of the start menu / indicator bar at the top of the screen. See, I use Retro Clock w/ a sweet background and a battery bar indicator [wkTask, excellent mgr app] at the top and it would be fiine to see just the sweet minimal gui..
If there already exists a way to remove the top bar, perhaps one of you should post the name of an app ;]
Otherwise, if devs or hackers know a way to shave pixels off an app [by messing with the gui api calls, etc] I would be into hacking together an autorun python script.. Or transparent bar would be good too.. man.. too much to customize. ;]
Cheers,

lots of options exist in this area including the removing of the bar and or reducing its size and or making it transparent. Please either google or use search of this site at the top right of this page. You will get a lot of hits. Keywords "Top bar" or "Tob task bar" or "start bar" etc.
Thanks,
CG
Minimal for the win
FYI PMC TodayShrink will remove the pesky bottom bar.. but the hardware soft keys can still be assigned and pressed.

Dangit!! Don't do that. If this guy doesn't use search we will be answering his questions from here to enternity or have new threads like this one started covering old info. It clogs up the forum. The idea of give them the answer and but tell them to search next time actually hurts this forum. I know it feels good to be helpful but do so by directing them with search topics.
Like right now at the time of this post just 7 topics down in this forum is a thread about top bar. And 2 pages back is another and it keeps going and going. before long the forum will be crowded again with repeat of of information that keeps development threads slowed.
Thanks

welcome to using a forum, what are you, new? people are going to have questions, you don't want to answer them and help, then don't do it, but don't come in here and complain because someone has a question, even if it has been asked/answered multiple times.

Dude shut up. Newb's are people like you. You've been here for a few months and going to try and tell someone who has been here for a few years how to work the site. Sit back, stick the pacifier in your mouth and keep to yourself. And by all means don't try and tell someone who has been here that long anything about site rules. What you have to say may be correct for the sites you normally go to but read the forum rules here and you will find them to be drastically different.

Watch out guys, it's the big bad forum monkey
the end of the world as we know it
clog up the forums huh? define a clog....does it mean wasting your time crying on the forum or getting on with your life after you have used the forum for whatever you want...whenever you are ready let me know ill mail you some tissues for your meaningless tears...i gues you are the first person to cry about someone not searching first ....being a so called noob .... by the way what is a noob is it someone who inexperianced ...who maybe would not know what exactly to search for...maybe if you just not respond the NOOB would then search...anyways quit wasting your time cuz this is the last time im wasting mine
Maybe he searched and didn't find what he is looking for or couldnt' get the wording right
It's happened to me.
well i have the smae question, ive searched and used vjtoggle but i dont like it too much.
i want to hide the top bar from the today screen but not in other apps. like the fullscreen function in Wisbar advance desktop (which im not using anymore so i need an alternative). im already using that dcino (sp?) file in my startup folder to hide the bottom bar from today screen
any options??

although this kid is wrong for starting a new thread when he could have searched to find the answer, it doesnt mean that you have to respond like this....the forum is here to help people gain answers to their questions, the quickest way to do that is to ANSWER THE QUESTION, quit being an a$$

The quickest way is not always the best way. Answer the question only goes to encourage the behavior. So, it is a quick solution with a condratictive affect. Sounds like a lot of the newb's are a little light in their louffers today.

Dude, talk about clogging up the forum and making a thread longer than a couple of replies. If you would have kept quiet and shed tears in your pillow instead, this thread would have been over a page ago.

My vote goes with you curious george ...it is too bad that some people could not simplify things what they want and failed to understand the existence of Search utility
HD has been around for many months now and the forum seems to be full of duplicate messages and requests.
How about we delete it all and start again?

Not really a practical way of doing this as the whole process would just repeat itself.
A few ways of doing this:
1. Leave it as it is
2. Have more categories so questions on specific topics are in specific folders i.e. all game threads in one folder, all threads on battery in other and so on.....but this would create dozens of folders, so again not practical.
3. Have a new setup so noobs aren't actually able to post questions unless they have already searched the forum.....but again, this also isn't practical
4. Have a section for noobs where all basic questions are asked and then another section for other members....but again, I'm not sure this would work either as a person may be posting their first thread but be an experienced user.
Personally, I would just leave it as it is, and possibly just delete a few threads which are useless to clear the waste
Baby and bathwater spring unbidden to mind!
sorry to say.....
when a new phone comes out.....this happens to all threads
when the diamond came out...we was in the same boat..
when the diamond2 come out....it will all happen again
you have to get used to it....thats what happens when n00bs get new toys

Totally agree, thats why after all my suggestions I said it wouldn't work so just leave it as it is!!
while i agreee thre are lot of multiple threads i still beleive leaving them up is the besy way to help as user SHould search theyll get more options
ive just got this toy. but ive owned a godd few winmo phones before hand so im no noob but we alll have issues
Something that would help i think is better use of the wiki. Each cook having a page, each rom having its own page. each app having its own page. the discussion belongs in forum but ROMs should have their own page then theres 1 location for update info, details ect.

Mabe start the cleaning process by banning all the "nOOb" bashers. That would cut down on a lot of the redundency around here.
If you cant beat them.... join them....
well...
If wiki was better organized... and have screenshots tutorials... and it should be a separate child forum for each phone

Or integrate an automatic search screen (maybe a popup to act as a temporary block) for:
a) anyone starting a new thread with
b) less than 40 or 50 posts history.
Then continue VIGILANTLY marking and reporting useless/repetitive threads.

Quite like this idea of a pop up for noobs asking them to check if question has already been asked and telling them how to use the site including search option!

Should be easy to implement as well, I think. Mind you we'll still need to do the cleaning up.

All we need is a few MOD's to have a look at this thread and hopefully some ideas will get implemented.......obviously not all
I will vote for changing the forum first page. Giving that the number of devices is increasing, it is getting harder to find your phone through all of them. Maybe it is possible to categories it like saying depending on the model year/release date or specificationsod the device. That would be much more interesting than scrolling the whole page waiting to find a specific one.

ya.. ya... more option is good... may be almost the same problem but different solution...
Summarize
Major issue is looooong threads - which just go on and on. In the case of an answer to a particular problem - as soon as someone has a definitive answer the thread needs to be marked as Solved and the answer put in a reserved slot on the first page. It can me a nightmare going through a dozen solutions to fix a problem - and with people quoting bit's all the time there's probably 50% of the info duplicated.
Still
Best forum going

Good idea!
All threads should be done this way, i.e. once a solution to a query or bug is solved it should be posted at start of thread!!

But the thing is Fallen, I've been trolling these forums for years, ever since I got my universal roughly 3/4 years ago. The majority of posts I have made really has been to help other people.
I am not a noob but have not made many posts, I am a competent programmer and can solve problems without having to post... Usually.
It would be really annoying if the few times I did need to post for help, or to share information, I would have to answer to a stupid popup asking me whether I have searched or not!
However, I do agree there is a severe lack in understanding the search facility on these forums, I think if a NOOB filter were to be placed it should go on join date.
P.S My join date was before Aug 07 I just forgot my email and password
I swear I was reading a thread which mentioned a .cab to get a incremental battery icon, instead of the current one which tells you nothing about the true battery life left.
Yet I cant seem to find the thread.
Anyone point me in the direction of such a cab file?
Thanks

How dare you even dream of not using the search function( not withstanding it doesnt work very well as all vbulletin search functions don't), you should have your bottom summarily smacked. lol. The forum police are on the prowl again, idiots.
Hey-- so, I'm digging the new sub-forums in the way of keeping everything organized, but I find myself having a harder time keeping up with the latest posts now that they are scattered between 4 forums.
The "Today's Posts" link under Quick Links will give me all of the days newest posts-- but it's for the entire XDA forum. Is there a way to see "Today's Posts" or "New Posts" in just the Hero CDMA section?
I tried running an advanced search within just the Hero CDMA section for posts since my last visit, but it needs a keyword in order to run the search.
Since I usually just pop-in to XDA to check if anything new is going on, it's nice to see it all on one page. Can anyone think of a way I could create a search that would give me all the new posts from this section on one screen? Then I can just click that link to check the newest happenings here in Hero CDMA?
Yeah, I am still getting the hang of 4 different sub forums. Well 3 - I could really careless about accessories. But still I kind of liked our big mess. Kind of like when you were a kid and your mom cleaned your rom after it was a huge mess...then you couldn't find anything anymore.

Haha! That's exactly what it's like!
I'm actually getting the hang of finding things when I'm looking for something specific. It's when I'm not looking for something specific and I just want to check in that it becomes an issue. On most forums I visit, I have the "Newest Posts" link bookmarked so I can click it, glance at the new stuff that's going on and see if I'm interested in any of that. But, since this forum is so huge, and since this is the only sub-forum I care about, using the "Today's Posts" link doesn't really work.
I'm just trying to see if anyone knows of a way I could accomplish it....
I figured out a way to do it. I just edited the 'New Posts' link up top to restrict it to just our forums:
This link will do what you're looking for!
