transfer files via bluetooth - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

such a basic concept... was a cinch in my old ericsson K750i. i'd go to the bluetooth manager, click on file transfer, and drag files.
but its a whole new ball game now. have the vario ii. i don't see any file transfer service. i can't send stuff through file manager. the device is already coupled.
i've tried using total commander's bluetooth file transfer which detects my pc bluetooth but then just stops and does nothing. Infra red works, but its sloooooooooow.
any tips?

Maybe trying Resco Explorer (payware) and not to forget that incoming beams are checked might solve the problem

you'd think devices as powerful as these would have some built-in method of doing this easily. the ericsson's options totally blows this device's options out the water. i'm sure its doable but only through weird tricks or custom apps. for e.g. what about powerpoint presentation controls via the phone? my ericsson did it flawlessly... all built in.
beams are enabled, devices coupled. just can't send files. even tried using the file manager that came with WM5. no luck.

You can still use ActiveSync via bluetooth, you'll be able to access your device on your computer by the file explorer...
And yes, with Resco Explorer it is done very easily (tap and hold/send via bluetooth...)

freeware GSFinder (which personally i think is best avaiable freeware file manager for PPC) also does that. this option has hame 'Send via IR...' but it can also send via BT.

Haven't tried GSFinder and won't pay for Resco Explorer but I love Total Commander http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm and have been using it since it first came out. Simple and powerful functionality along with Bluetooth file transfer.

In addition, beaming under WM5 / MS BT stack also transfers via BT, not only IrDA, as has also been explained in File and PIM transfer between Pocket PC and Palm OS devices & advanced Pocket PC Bluetooth answers and explanations ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1065&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 )
(Furthermore, on Widcomm devices, it's FAR more compatible than Resco - please see the above-linked article. I've elaborated on all these questions there)
BTW guys, almost all the questions have been answered in my articles - make sure you read them, it's really worth reading all my articles.

About the "allow incoming beams" option, ive tried to get some files from a friends mobile by BT but it always says failed on thier phone?? Could it be because i have this option unticked??? (cant check as phone is away for repair)

If you untick the checkbox, you won't be able to receive anything over BT either (not only over infrared), as has also been explained in one of my well-known (it was frontpaged over at Pocket PC Thoughts too) articles: http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1196&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

I would be very interersted if you could please show me how to send any file via bt using total cmd, since as far as i can see it only supports ir transfer, which is the most annoying thing about it... i've been trying to solve this for quite a long time and no luck yet

You can send files over BT quite easily, no extra software needed. In file explorer, select the app you want and tap and hold. Then select beam file. First the Hermes will check IrDA, then it will proceed to sending thorugh BT. You will see the name of the other device you want to send to, then tap the name and it will start to send. Be sure to have your BT on and discoverable and tick "receive incoming beams", both in start-settings-connections.

some time ago i have noticed a beta version of Total Commander 2.5 - it finally supports Bluetooth file sending just the same way it did with IR transfer - very cool, finally i don't have to use standard file explorer no more...

i would love to not have to install any new software just to do the simple task of sending via BT.. however your explanation doesn't seem to work for me -
i want to send a picture file out of my picture folder.. if i do send via idR it never skips to BT... could you elaborate on how to do it please?? im surprised on other fones it seems like its a little more easier i wonder why they didnt add this basic function

Sending files via BT is a little but awkward in WM devices, as you need to choose 'Send via IR' or 'Beam' option to do it, and it is pretty much confusing with IrDA. But anyway, turn BT on, then select a file, and choose 'Beam' or 'Send via IR' option. Once sending windows shows, wait few seconds, and BT devices will start to appear there. That's it.

Koksie is right, is easy to send files via bluetooth using the file explorer, even though I have Resco I did it with the file explorer so you don't have to install anything.
- Just tap on the file you want to send, keep pressed until the context menu appears.
- Select Beam File, the device will look for nearby devices.
- Once the one you want to send the file to appears, tap on the right side "tap to send", wait a while, depending on the file size of your file.
- Done

use HTweakC/Pimp my Black etc. and enable 'OBEX' in bluetooth settings; then beam as normal and you will discover bluetooth devices on that list

I've always be able to transfer file between my iMac G5 and Hermes using Bluetooth however it think the speed is rather slow
using
Cingular 1.34 WM5 ROM ~ 22Kbyte/s
LVSW WM6 ROM 44-~50Kbyte/s
Anyone have comments on this?

Koksie, that was the most helpful reply yet. No secondary freeware or payware apps needed. Perfect! That just fixed the last complaint I had after upgrading to the Herm. Thanx again for the response.

Is there any way via bluetooth ftp to open a file that resides on the Hermes such as an mp3, bmp, or mpeg with your computer so that it "streams" via bluetooth so you dont have to transfer it first from your Hermes to your computer? Thanks.

You can find the dumprom tool here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/DumpRom
or from http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/dumprom.html
You can also export your registry using a trial copy of resco explorer (comes with resco registry tool) http://www.resco-net.com/explorer_dwn.asp
and put it here as well. I've come across tweaks in registry that might point to why it works for one version of OS and not the other.
Many thanks!

I got a copy of dumprom.exe but not nkcompr.lib which it seems to need.
Also do I run this on the mini or on the PC it is synch'ed with.

If you want to tell me I will do it for you.

Sorry nossac,
Been really busy over the weekend. I realize that the utilities provided by the forum may not be updated for Magician. I had several frens of mine trying to use it, but facing technical problems.
I believe someone posted the chinese ROM in the FTP site. I think I shall use that version to check out the BT stack and SDBus support.
Many thanks for being proactive, but it's not within my means to support dumprom issues.
For resco registry, what you can do:
(a) download resco explorer (using previous URL link I've supplied)
(b) connect your Mini with the MS ActiveSync
(c) execute the resco explorer executable file
(d) Install all the software (explorer, registry, ftp etc)
(e) from the Today screen, goto Start/Programs/Resco Registry
(f) You should be in the Registry Editor screen.
(g) Highlight the topmost "My Registry"
(h) Tap and hold "My Registry", two options should be available to you.
(i) Select the "Export" option.
(j) You should come to the "Save file" screen.
(k) Name the registry file as "02 mini registry"
(l) Select the location to save the file to.
(m) Select the folder to save the file to.
Click on Save button. The software will proceed to export the registry to the file.
Once you have complete exporting the registry to the file, open MS ActiveSync:
(a) Click on "Explore" option on the taskbar menu.
(b) Navigator to the filesystem/folder for which you have save the registry file to.
(c) Copy to the desktop and zipped it up.
Then post it to this forum.
Note: The resco explorer is a trial version. If you don't like it, you can uninstalled it after the trial period has expired.
Many thanks!

Thanks for the registry file! Thanks to ID64 also for his IMATE-JAM registry.
I need to ask a couple of very specific questions:
(a) Can you heard music piping through your BT headset?
(b) Did anyone of you has SD Wifi 256RAM card and use it successfully?
Many thanks!
Hi,
Nope the music does not pipe to my Jabra 250 headset. If I start Media Player the music comes from the mini even though the headset is bonded.
And I have not tried a wifi card. But I have read reviews at www.compactjam.com and www.mmtek.com.au that say the SD wifi cards work just fine.
BT registry investigation....confuse and clueless
hmmm,
it's a rare privilege to have comb through so many versions of registries and dumprom so many versions of ROM to test the DLLs....
Well, the fact is, I've hanged my device many times now.
I was hoping that since MS BT is 1.2 compliant in Mini/JAM, they would at least include A2DP and allow stereo piping to the headset...
What does the BT 1.2 compliant mean? Well, honestly not much. The main advantage that Bluetooth 1.2 has over 1.1 is Adaptive Frequency Hopping. According to Ed Hardy of the fantastic Brighthand.com website, “Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH) is designed to reduce interference between technologies sharing the 2.4 GHz spectrum. Cordless telephones, microwave ovens, and certain Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN) technologies, including 802.11b, and IEEE 802.11g, generally share the same wireless frequencies as Bluetooth. AFA works within the spectrum to take advantage of the available frequencies without limiting the Bluetooth transmission to a set of frequencies occupied by other technologies. This ‘adaptive hopping’ allows for more efficient transmission within the spectrum, thereby providing the user with greater performance, even if using other technologies along with the Bluetooth wireless technology.”
Perhaps someone has checked the ipaq devices and know how they have managed to pipe the mono sound to the headset?
I've check the Mini/JAM registry and I'm glad to say that there seems to be minor differences in the BT registry settings.
It's interesting why HTC skipped Broadcomm BT in Mini/JAM when it is implemented for XDAIIs....
Oh well, :?: :?: :?:

sending files through bluetooth ??

hey all ..
jsut a quick question (again)
ahh.. i just want to send files (mp3's,movie-clip, fotos) with blue tooth to another phone ???
how where ??
with tab and hold i can only beam a file (IRDA) to other people..
the can find me and can send ME stuff.. but i have no idea where i can find them and send THEM stuff..
again plz help
Get resco explorer... this is a must have in my opinion... it will give you what you need.
Get your free trial here.... http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/default.asp
BR
Presuming you havnt already tried this:
Make sure bluetooth is activated before you attempt to beam the file..
You should have 2 magnifying glass icons on the 'beam' screen..
The first will state Infrared, the one below should state 'searching'.
Give the device a few seconds to search out the devices (this has never been a lightning quick process on my xda's) and select the desired destination device. Works for me.
Failing that Resco explorer isnt bad either and gives you a progress meter.
(On a stranger unrelated note....I have just noticed whilst doing this on my device with bluetooth turned off I have gained 2 bars signal strength whilst the device searches)
yeah a buddy of mine gave me resco explorer.
and yup it works like a charm
i can now ehh beam stuff to buddies .. yeah
thanx for the effort
ehh now i get OBEX errors ??
ehh what is OBEX ?? why the errors ?

From the Wiki - I suggest you read it!
To change the ability to receive files via Bluetooth (OBEX)
The setting is at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Obex'
The 'IsEnabled' DWORD value should be set to '1' to enable OBEX and '0' to disable OBEX.
For example, to enable the ability to receive fles via Bluetooth
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Obex\IsEnabled = 1

My XDA Mini can received file but i cant Send any at all..! like contacts,jpg,mp3. I use resco explorer and also default file explorer also cannot do so.
All i get is failed or (OBEX) device not supported or failed.
Pls Help............
To send files using bluetooth on the Universal all you need to do is turn on your bluetooth, open up file explorer, tap and hold the file you want to send and tap onto beam file. You will see a red and a blue magnifying glass. The red one is infrared and the blue being bluetooth.
I always send songs, pictures and other files by bluetooth using my Uni in this manner. I just wish i could browse other phones using bluetooth the way i used to on my BA.

How to access AVRCP?

Hi,
since there've been quite some requests, I'd like to implement AVRCP in MortPlayer (probably after the upcoming release, but anyway...). Does anybody know how this is done or where I can find informations about it? Up 'til now all my searches ended in "No clue" or a list of all the gread devices and programs that support it...
TIA
Hope, you´ll find something/someone, who can help you...
Your player is so amazing...;-)
good luck...

your software is an inspiration!
I'm not sure how AVRCP might be implemented, but I'd suggest that if you can find a bluetooth driver or AT logger, you might be able to monitor what AT commands are issued by the headset to facilitate AVRCP, and then re-implement your apps to monitor for them.
However, I'm sure that's over complicated and there's another easier way! Keep us informed if you find anything definitive
V
OK, got a bit smarter...
It seems like all AVRCP drivers are currently married to WMP, and the only way to get the data is by faking to be the "(corpse? ) bride".
Some drivers (like Widcom) parse the WMP skin and send mouse events to the Window labelled "Windows Media Player". This shouldn't be too hard to do... Though I could need some advice how to determine the WMP version (Downward compatibility for skins? Why? Microsoft has the right to torture its customers...).
The other way are WMP plug ins. I got as far as finding out they're listed in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\UIPlugIns. Usually there's probably just the one for AVRCP, maybe 1 or 2 others for e.g. today plug-ins...
The interface itself uses COM, and that's where the troubles start. I have only most basic knowledge about COM, so I've no idea how to load and access those plug-in DLLs. This probably clarifies things for people familiar with COM, while leaving me quite puzzled... I also found this quite interesting thread, but it seems to me like he's accessing the entire WMP there, instead of just the plug-ins. But the "IWMPEvents" might be important, too...
So, if somebody can come to aid me, at best with some code examples, it would be really nice... (And of course noted in the credits... )
Edit: Something more: It seems like I'd have to create own IWMPCore (with at least get_controls implemented) and IWMPControls objects, too...
TIA

Unless Conduits is going to release the source for free (as in "do what you want with it" ), which is quite improbable, this wouldn't help me. The PocketPlayer plug-in is married to PocketPlayer in similar ways, and it'd be a bit annoying if I'd have to tell MortPlayer users they have to install PocketPlayer...
However, with some try & error and lots of botching, I managed to program a little dummy that at least works with the BCHS driver on MDAc...
Please try whether it works with the WM5 driver, too. There'll be no sound, I just open a channel because BCHS needs it to connect to the headphone (like the file name and window title...). There should be messages if you press any headphone buttons, maybe also some error messages. If there are error messages, please tell me which ones...
Another problem... BCHS only streams to a channel opened from an app named WMPlayer.exe. Even if I keep an external WMPlayer.exe, I can't simply call waveOutOpen there and pass the handle to the player, because I can't pass the required callback functions (access violation). Any idea anybody?
I'd like to avoid renaming MortPlayer.exe to WMPlayer.exe. Esp. since as a side effect another registry path is used for all settings...
FYI: I managed to implement both a "WMP emulator for plug-ins" (AVRCP with new MS BT stacks, should also work with Voice Command and similar plug-ins) and an "emulated WMP window" (AVRCP support of most Widcomm stacks).
You can download the MortPlayer version with AVRCP support here:
Setup CAB
The code will be uploaded when I release the next update (I hope it won't last that much longer...).
If you need any help or code, just ask me...

I'd like to state that I love mortplayer.
I have a few problems with it though.
1. I can't figure out how to get avrcp to work. I have a ht820 headset.
2. I can't open settings. It hangs the phone/pda and I have to soft reset. Right now I've tried to stop all running programs and mortplayer settings won't stop. A soft reset stopped it.
3. The player's volume always seems to default to full when mortplayer is started.
4. What are the battery and calculator icons in the car skin for?
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Porter

That's weird... Play and pause usually are handled equally, so there should be much difference in that... I'll do a debug version with some messages, maybe it calls some WMP method I don't fake the way it expects it. But if we're not lucky, it's a bug in the BT stack or some undocumented interface...
yeah i have tried it about 3-4 times now and the pda just freezes everytime i press that button.....thanks
hmm here's an idea. If you can access the caller id section, you can send the music titles as if a call was coming in.
i'm currently looking into the bluetooth stack and protocols, i'm not really satisfied with how things are now (i for example don't have caller id with name on my headset which should work though)

Whichever supports A2DP and AVRCP. Check the forum for your device to find out what's available. For some stacks you might need to rename MortPlayer.exe to WMPlayer.exe to get A2DP working. Except for the hangup at "resume" (see above) it seems to work with every stack that supports AVRCP in WMP.
2. It still freezes MortPlayer. When I go into the phone's settings and I attempt to stop running programs, Mortplayer Settings continues to be displayed.

You mean, MortPlayer works fine, but the settings program hangs? Is that immediately after it's started, after some action, or when you try to leave it?
3. Which volume setting would I want to select in the installation wizard?

That's to your liking... The system volume isn't modified by MortPlayer unless you set it up that way, the relative volume is - as you realized - 100% by default (like all other applications without a relative volume slider). To modify that, you'd need to modify "Start and exit" - "Program start" - "Relative volume".

Yes, that's what I mean. MortPlayer works fine but, anytime I attempt to enter settings, settings freezes up. I've never been into settings nor do I know what's in settings because of the freezing up. I can still exit out of MortPlayer though.
Another thing that's been happening is, when I'm listening to one file, (usually a 3.5 hour mp3), somewhere in the playback, the player decides to start playing from the beginning of the next file. I've begun to set bookmarks more frequently because of this. I haven't been able to figure out if it's the file, the player or the phone. The file is a podcast of the Lex and Terry show.
Thanks,
Porter

That's very unusual. Did you try to reinstall MortPlayer? Maybe somehow MortSetup.exe or mpconfig.dll got file errors...

Usually, it's none of the tree, but the storage card. I don't know exactly how and why this happens, but sometimes, esp. if a card is under high stress (high bitrates, parallel navigation, ...) or quite old, reading the next block just returns "end of file" (sometimes also a read error, which would be more correct...). In some cases, even the file length is returned wrong, as if the file was just cut off. Usually it helps to delete the file and copy it again.

Exec bluetooth sending file ?!

Hi guys (first post yay )
ive tried to use the search funtion but its a vbulletin forum which means search is pants lol!
just got me an exec ive been playing with it for a few days now but went to bluetooth a file today and noticed i couldnt?
ive checked the mannual and it says
click and hold then click beam file then select?
but when i clicked beam file it just brings up the 'beam' option (infrared beaming)
so im lost lol
i went to the my-xda site to do sum searching and found out there was an upgraded rom so i upgraded it (thinking it was added and i hadnt got the lasted software) but no luck so im still stuck
but it looks a little nicer now lol :/
Many Help is great help
Cheers.
JollySonX.
it isn't very intuitive.
you have to wait for the destination device to come up under the IR bit (i think you have to pair first?), then tap it to send. there's no progress bar either, which is annoying
well thats annoying isnt it
Cheers.!
When you try to send the file are you using the built in file browser (file explorer)?
and is you bluetooth switched on?????
I am using Resco File Explorer to send files from my Jasjar to my PC.
First of all my PC is paired to my Jasjar. Now when I need to send a file all I need to do is to switch ON the bluetooth on the PC, navigate to the file with Resco which is to be beamed from the Jasjar to the PC, press and hold on the file which brings the context menu, "send to..." "Bluetooth Receipent...", select the name of my PC and the file is transferred. I do not even have to swich ON the bluetooth on the Jasjar. Resco automatically switches bluetooth ON and once the file transfer is complete bluetooth is automatically switched OFF.

Sony HBH-DS980 Bluetooth headphones - WOW, all problems solved with Kaiser !!!

Just purchased these amazing headphones for the Kaiser:

}
These headphones are excellent, first for the fact that you don't look like an idiot while using them to answer calls (unlike using the regular one-eared BT earpiece). These headphones hang from my neck, behind my shirt, while I take the right earpiece out of my shirt to answer calls (or both to hear songs). I still have access to the control unit because it hangs near the end of my shirt (and I don't tuck my shirt to my pants...)
Next, I will list all the features of this headphone that 100% work with my Kaiser:
1. Volume control.
2. Accepting calls / Rejecting calls.
3. Caller ID.
4. Browsing through your Call History (using the DS980's LED), and making calls from it.
5. Browsing through your contacts (using the DS980's LED), and making calls from it.
6. Switching through songs.
7. Pausing/resuming songs.
8. Show the time (on LED).
9. Voice command 1.6 works flawlessly.
Not really "features", but still:
10. When a call comes in when you're listening to a song, the phone will switch to the caller, then after the call ends, the music will resume on the headphones (there were reports in the past that the music resumes not through the headphones, rather through the speaker. no longer an issue).
11. The Bluetooth connection of these headphones to the kaiser is 100% stable (as long as you're something like 10 feet from the kaiser). I experience no connection breaks no matter how long I talk.
12. The call quality is excellent, on both ends.
All in all, these headphones are complementing the Kaiser in an excellent way. Let's admit, the Kaiser is big and heavy, and taking it out everytime you want to do regular tasks (like the ones listed above), is a chore. Using these headphone I can simply do most regular tasks, while the kaiser rests in pocket, and acts only as the "brain". In other words, I can say that using these headphones I reduce the number of times I take the Kaiser out of my pocket, by something like 70% (YMMV, depending on how you use the Kaiser).
I'm reporting this experience with the following installed on my kaiser (if you want a way to 100% replicate my success):
1. NoThrills 6.1 ROM.
2. Jetware Hands-Free Extensions (1.3.1)
3. SPB Phone Suite (1.2.0).
I'm not sure which of the above made the DS980 work so flawlessly, but the above 3 are the only ones I could think of that can actually make a difference when it comes to the integration of the BT headphones to the Kaiser...
That's great..!!
It would be nice if it had a 3.5mm plug though. Then I'd plug in some nice stereo speakers!
(Perhaps) Dumb Question: Does it comes with something to wrap it around your neck?
EDIT: Nevermind: I must be having some reading problems..
10. When a call comes in when you're listening to a song, the phone will switch to the caller, then after the call ends, the music will resume on the headphones (there were reports in the past that the music resumes not through the headphones, rather through the speaker. no longer an issue).

Small update:
I installed "SPB GPRS Monitor", and the above problem suddenly appeared. Good thing I had a SPB Backup file for a state before I installed the GPRS Monitor. Now with the old state (without the GPRS monitor) the problem went away.
I have no idea why the GPRS monitor caused this problem to appear... I wonder if the GPRS monitor is the reason this problem was reported by other people...
noam32,
Quick question -- did you have to install Jetware extensions to get features such as CallerID, browsing contacts, etc. on the OLED? I was under the impression this *just works*.
Thanks.
Good timing !
i also purchased this set this weekend (great sound!) , though can not use it 100% (no call ID, no clock, no contacts)
I installed jetware and could solve everything except point 4 and 5 on OP's post.
call ID shows number but no name
no history
No phone book reading.
Wonder if SPB mobile shell has something to do with this?
jesus, i wish this would just freggin work w/out havign to download all that stuff...pay for it i mean. maybe some of the stuff will get resolved when more WM 6.1 roms are out, thats when i'm going to upgrade

How did you try to access history and phone book reading on the headphones ?, you have to press the most bottom key for several seconds !
SPB mobile shell is not the problem, since I have it installed on mine (ver. 2.0)

The Call ID works. I can see last calls + name (middle button)
Though when calling someone, loss of BT connection still.
As for the phonebook, (last of 3) no reading possible.
maybe it is bound to Alex's 5.2 Rom based on WM6 , or can you share the settings u use for Jetware?
What is ood that I have a carkit which does all this with my Tytn II, but this headphone does not
Anyway, with +100 contacts , I think I am not going to use the phonebook a lot. Voice command will do the trick (testing right now with MS1.6 and Cyberon)
i have a bluetooth connection dropping issue only ( started a thread as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381145 ) rest i can use all my features. I have the jetware extension installed also along with spb mobile shell....

In Jetware all the advanced options are checked.
Worst case, if you *really* want everything to work with the DS980 (without BT hangouts), you can always install exactly what I have on my Kaiser (I listed it above, and will provide more details if you need).

You are wrong. I also have ~100 contacts, and calling any of them from the DS980, takes no more than 5-10 seconds. First you search by first letter, and it takes about 3 seconds to reach the correct (you can go left or right), then it takes about 2-3 more seconds to find the full name.
Yes, using Voice command is indeed ideal, but I don't feel comfortable speaking to my earphone in some situations.
Well, I picked up one of these today and I can't get the phone book to work. I installed the latest version of Jetware extensions but no luck. Going to the contacts shows no contacts. CallerID just shows name as it probably should. Now to get the contacts list to work. I do have it working with Voice Command. Any tips on the contacts list is much appreciated.

Maybe this was overseen from your side: (I tried it but it failed)
In the phone book settings on Jetware, you need to "send" your contacts in the desired format to the device. The device seems not to have reading functionality itself (or depending of other factors)
Also, check your MCVC1.6 settings per field. I managed to get my outlook + SMS messages being red , though then the Bug pops up finishing connection .
Still discovering ...
what about long walk?
is the connection 100%, or is it breaking?
(listening to music)
thx

I also tried using the send contacts (after reading through the tutorial on Jetware's site) but still nothing. Were you able to get this to work using the send function within Jetware?

I tried the same steps, but the device could not "read" the phone book..
Still trying other options - settings.

If you get it working please post.
Thanks.
When I first started to work with the DS980 and Kaiser, on the first launch of the contact manager on the DS980, it didn't work either. Then I saw that on the kaiser there is a box where the DS980 is asking for permission to read the contacts (this box pops up on the kaiser after the first time you press the contact key on the DS980). Once I allowed it, the DS980 could read contacts no problem.
I tried the following still without any progress:
- Uninstall Jetware
- Delete pairing of DS980 with phone
- Soft-Reset device
- Install Jetware
- Soft-Reset device
- Paired with DS980
- Still nothing.
I'm running WM6.1 on a AT&T Tilt. Not sure if this has anything to do with it or not. Maybe it only works with WM6.0... Maybe I'll flash WM6.0 soon and give it a shot to see if it works.
I definitely don't get any notification asking me to allow the DS980 to access the contact.

But as I've already said, I'm running NoThrills *6.1* ROM on my TILT !
Again, If you will install my ROM (NoThrill's 6.1 english) and Jetware extensions (1.31), you WILL have every feature of the DS980 active. Guaranteed (I mean, how not ?).
I do have NoThrills 6.1. I did re-cook it so that seem like it's an issue.
I flashed the original NoThrills 6.1 and I was able to see the prompt asking to allow the DS980 access to contacts. When I flash the cooked version of the ROM, no good. So not sure what it could be but I will probably just flash the original and use it. Unless I can figure out why the re-cooked version doesn't allow/show the access to the contacts via Bluetooth.
Update:
I tried re-cooking just NoThrills 6.1 ROM without including any additional package and I could not get this working. Not sure if it's something with the cooking process or not. Didn't get to the point of comparing registry so anyone who's having issues with this it seems to be a problem with cooked roms or maybe the way it's cooked.
When I installed NoThrills 6.1 as-is the contacts works fine. I don't need Jetware to send the contacts.
Hope this is helpful -- not a solution but at least points to a direction of what to look for. I'll be returning my DS980... not too impressed with it. I'll stick with the Plantronics Discovery I have.
