How to dismantle the WIzard? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have an XDA MINI s and have searched high and low (including this forum) to find out how to dismantle my handset
Reason i want to dismantle it, my XDA fell on the bed, and now there is a white screen with a few colour stripes.
I think something maybe have become unconnected
this phone is so fragile and its s tupid problem to be honest.
Please let me know where I can find some sort of instructions so i can attempt to see if everything is fine inside
Thanks
DJ

The disassembly guided is available on the FTP and on this forum.. do a search and you'll find it.

It would have been nice to post a link
Because
1) I cannot see where the FTP area is
2) I have searched!!!
I have spent nearly 10 mintues but i dont know where to look
I am not familiar with the forum, although i mostly use the search facility for my queries, hence why my post count is low
Thanks
p.s ill continue to look now
DJ

Right i found the FTP section but there is nothing there under Wiizard
Anyone help ? As right now its being a paperweight on my desk
I dont want it to go to the bin

Photo-guide:

Top of page 2, has a photo-sequence. Make sure, when taking the camera cover off, that you do NOT pry it from the bottom. It will snap the tabs. Get something very thin, like a razorblade, and pry the sides up, then the top. After that, the pictures should suffice.

taking apart Xda Exec

I would like to take the xda apart as i have a large dent on the faceplate probably from walking into something whilst in my pocket and i want to push the dent out or tidy it up as much as possible.
Searched everywhere for how to take the phone apart but no luck, found one but unfortunatly a dead link.
If anyway has instructions on how to dismantle i would be grateful!
Also while i'm doing this is there anyway to tighten the screen hinge it feels lose.
Thanks.
I think this is what you are after.

thankyou very much! exactly what i am looking for
sorry to hijack the thread, but this is vaguely on topic.
I have two faulty universals, both usable but neither is perfect. to make one fully functional universal + one that is only partially working, I need to swap the motherbord or the screens. which is the easier task: taking the two halves of the clamshell and swapping them or opening the bottom part and swapping just the motherboards?

Start doing one and see what happens, I have done it to an Alpine, although it's a lot easier to do it only took 20 minutes. To be honest I'd say replacing the motherboard would be easier, theres 4 easily accessible screws to open the case up.
Does anyone know how many speakers the Universal has in total? Two at the front and one or two for voice calls? ie, does it have one behind the d-pad which can be heard with the screen showing or closed or is the a "closed" speaker and an "open" speaker? On my XDA Exec, it only works in closed mode and I'd like to be sure it's a motherboard fault before swapping motherboards over
Sorry for bumping this thread but is the above manual available anywhere?
Sorry thought the FTP link was dead got it working!
im after this guide as well or any other links to taking apart the exec
the link in the second post in this thread is the only one you need.
can this link be posted up...i really need it urgently
Fresh linky.
It's still on the FTP. just in a different location. Link below. (Right click and save target as or save as in IE)

Yippeee! My uni feels NEWWW again! :D

Hi!
My uni's hinge got really loose and shaky and i was bloody frustrated all these days. Though i'd taken it apart so many times and tightened the hinge, it didnt make a difference....until today
I opened it up, pulled the side clip-ons out (the two pieces with the status LEDs for btooth & radio) and did this -
The bluetooth led piece goes around a metal pipe (the hinge rod) which usually gets loose and starts to slip. I wrapped a layer of cello-tape onto this hinge rod and slid the bluetooth led piece back on to the hinge rod. This time because of the cello-tape the piece goes f***in firm onto the hinge rod!!!
On the opposite side, i stuffed some toilet paper (!!!) into the piece to make it stiff as there isnt too much of the hinge rod on the other end (for the Radio led piece).
Reassembled the damn thing back, and now it feels like brand NEW!!!! Man, no clicking sounds, no rattling or shakes, no i'm-gonna-fall-apart-any-minute feeling!!!
After doing this, i feel like hanging on to my uni for some more time (a day ago i was so frustrated that i wanted to get rid of it!!)
Cheers!
San
If anybody wants pictures of how to do it, i can make an illustration....let me know if anything is unclear and u need help!
cheerio!
step by step instructions backed by pictures would be great! mine's starting to wobble to... this would be a great help!
PLEASE DO!!!!
PLEASE!!!!
Pretty PLEASE
COME ON....
where are the instructions and pictures? cant wait... hehe!
Hey!
I'll do it in te next couple days.
However, I think if you search for the HTC Universal's service manual, it has better instructions. You need to do the following -
1. Remove battery, sim, and remove 4 screws which are under the battery
2. Remove stylus, and start pulling the back side cover apart.
3. Disconnect antenna holder (the white plastic surrounding the camera (on the insides of the device)
4. Remove screws holding the motherboard, remove connectors coming from display unit and keyboard
5. Pull off the motherboard.
6. Take off the keyboard by removing all screws holding it.
7. Now, the two pieces (i talked of in my first post come off along with the display unit. Do what I told you in the first post and reassemble in the reverse order
8. It should be all fixed!
Again, for these steps download the service manual for step by step instructions with pictures. Also, all you need to take it apart is one screw driver with two bits! Its a philips screwdriver...get the specs from the service manual again!
Cheers!

Taking apart the Wizard?

Anyone know how? I've read the Wiki and searched online but cannot find a definitive way to take apart the Wizard without breaking it.. I've taken off all 6 screws and cannot find a way to separate the screen from the keyboard..
Basically the reason I am doing this is because the ear piece and the 2 LED's do not work and I want to see why.. I got the Wizard free and put wm6 on it and think its a cool device, worth tinkering with and want to try and fix it.
Nevermind.. I found the service manual..

SD Card Wont Stay in HELP!

really annoyed last night, stood up and as i did my wizard decided to eject itself from my pocket somehow and fall to the floor, as it did the stylus and sd card fell out...
tried to put the sd back in and it doesnt click in any more, have had a fiddle with some tweasers and cant see anything in there that looked like it snapped and there is a latch on one side that goes up and down but cant click it manually. Anyone else done this? is it terminal?
ive resorted to a big blob of blue-tak on the top of my phone to try and hold it in but its only about 75% effective.
Any help would be great
This problem and solution has been discussed and posted hundreds of times, just read or there's a tab at the top of every Forum 'Search',just use it,you'll prolly get many answers.
There was no need to start a new thread.
i should have expected such a response.
I DID SEARCH!
As you are such a fan of the search feature then im sure you'll know that if you search for anything more than one word it will bring up about 2000 posts related or not.
I'll go look through them all now.....
Simple answer ! if the holding latch is broken or come loose,it won't stay in,just wrape a little layer of adhesive tape around sdcard, but make sure connectors are not coverd and insert it,there's no other solution for it,less you replace the body or get it repaired,ok
Regarding me being a fan of search, thats why its put up there for !!! every senior member will advise it and we all use it.
thankyou that has worked.
i couldnt agree more, but the search doesnt always work and generic words liek sd card will bring up 1000s of useless posts
Thanz !
You are most welcome.

Project <HandyHD2>

Hi there!
With this post I`am starting a new thred about creating something like this:
out from HTC HD2.
IMPOSSIBRU?
NO!
Right now I have:
two broken HTC HD2 (EU and USA models). Both with broken digitizers. EU model is also disassembled
;
this case
(sorry I've already remade it and dont have original photo);
Ideas! many of em. Too many I think.
Why?
I think it would be great to have pda/phone based on your arm. At least it is always in your hand. Or very close to it .
This thread will contain:
photos. I hope I will not forget taking photos of the process;
maybe sketches. I am very bad in painting, but sometimes it is easier to show your idea rather than to describe it;
many text mistakes. I am using half my studied english half google translate >_<
I am looking forward for some support and of course ideas from those, who are interested in this.
So here we go!
<25.06.14>
Right now I remade case. I got it without protection screen (it was removed with scissors). Screen from HD2 fits it perfectly!
Of course, I could leave the phone simple in there... NO! It is not the way I want it to! It would be as thin and comfortable as possible!
I've removed the belt with velcro (am I using the right word for it? ) becouse it was designed for forearm and is too long for wrist, Right now I'am resew the velcro becouse I want it to contact arm with soft part, not the hard one.
Wow, I've just bent needle. The case rubber is realy tough
As far as my needle is broken and I want to sleep (it is 01:24 lol), I will describe the basic idea now.
I want to separate screen, motherboard, camera and battery. Place them at different part of the hand to make the whole system smaller.
The screen will be on the upper side of the hand. Screen and only screen.
The case will be fasten with velcro. It will be remade also
This case had a small pocket for keys and/or other things
. And it size is just like motherboard
. So I want to put a motherboard in this pocket and place it on the belt on the back (bottom) side of the hand
. Becouse of it small size I beleve that it wouldn't be broken on the hand.

Maybe I will use it
your first pic reminds me of the nuclear device in the Predator movies
It might be a bit tricky receiving a call with the phone on your forearm, bt headset?
Look forward to updates on your progress though.
Best of luck

I found it. Lol, rly look alike (don't have 10 posts to put img here)
The first pic (and basic idea) is taken from the Operation Black Mesa game (HL2 mod)
I think of bt headset or wired headset puted from arm to ear (under clothes it is not so tricky I think). I want to put earphone jack to upper side. I will make some sketches tomorrow.

Great Work ... Deserves a Try ... Thanks Man ...

So here we go again
Right now a friend of mine is making some sketches about a basic concept (I told that I'm bad in painting)
Here goes the basic concept:
I am thinking about how to make screen wiring longer. I want to make my own wiring for it. Here is example:
The problem is: is has 45 (!!!) connectors. Very tricky, but I think it is possible. I believe. I hope...
Right now I'm thinking how my own wiring can be connected to screen wiring. I'm thinking about disassembling screen connector from motherboard and to install it on my wiring. So screen could be replaced in case.
So right now need ideas: where to place the battery, where to place camera, how to connect all this.
So here goes madness
I've disassemblied screen, where wiring is going, and found this:
I'm goung to cut off the connector from wiring, and solder it to my wiring. Then I will use it to connect wiring to motherboard. On the other side I will silder a connector from motherboard.(I will buy it) so I will make en extantion for standart screen connector
Still alive
Well, I'm not dead yet
Just taking my vacation in Italy.
ASAP I will get back to work.
Stay in touch!
Wow, i love the idea, i would be pleased to do this with my old hd2.
If you complete the project, please write a instruction, i even would pay for something, what looks like
a badass Pipboy from Fallout
Any update on this?
