Dialling number received from the SMS - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Pocket Outlook SMS received phone number link does not exist if there is a '(1)' after the number.
My telco will send a SMS telling that I have a missed call with the number...
For example, when you got the SMS from your telco - 'You have (1) missed call +6012308xxxx (1) since 8.43 pm 10.10.06'. There is a link to the 'From' and the '10.10.06', but not the number. But after experimenting, I found out that if the SMS look like this 'You have (1) missed call +6012308xxxx since 8.43 pm 10.10.06' (notice that bracket after the phone number), there will be a link for the number. Any idea how I can fix this?

Strange link with my contact list - please HELP

When my XDAII receive a call it does recognize the number but strangely it does only link the number (any number) to only one contact in my list.
I tryed to delete this contact to see what happens but it link witha nother but use it along for all calls.
Can you help me?
Thanks
Felipe
Can you dial a number by tapping it from your contacts list?
In some cases yes in others no, this is because in some numbers there is the area code that the XDAII does not recognize because we use 011 here in my country. If I clear that the number can be dialed from the contact list.
So, are you saying that when you receive a call from a phone number which is properly formatted (for your phone to dial it) in your contacts list, it still won't ID the correct number? Remember, it is a simple pattern matching algorithm - it gets a call, looks in your contacts list for a number formatted EXACTLY as it receives it, and displays that contact.
I followed this logic but it wont work to explain what is happening

SMS From is strange

I just found your forum and have bee reading throught it for the past few days.
I think this is a great forum as I just purchased an Imate Jam and have resolved several problems from the forum members.
I have one strange occurance on my Jam that I do not know how to fix.
I received SMS's from my service which I do not have the contact number in my address book.
The sms message put's a name from my contacts that is not associtaed with teh SMS. When I deleted teh contact it showed another (The next time I received an SMS).
How to fix this?
It is not a problem...
You mean u got a message from your Service Provider right?
It is possible to send messages without a number in the from field instead it comes with a name. Providers usually send messages like that for conveniance...
It is also possible to do through a software in my Sony Ericsson p910i called iSMS maybe it's one of your friends playing a prank on you...
Let me explain a little bit more.
The message I received is from my service provider 100%.
However, in the SMS inbox it seems to list a name in the from field which belongs to one of my contacts.
Now What I did is remove that contact and waited fro another SMS from my service provoder.
What happened is the from field nows shows some other name that is in my contacts.
My question is, how does the SMS application detrmine the from?
When I had a nokia 6600 it just displayed a number.
Try to find some commonality in the contact like perhaps the first few digits or the last few digits are the same in that case what the provider is doing is that he's sending a message from a special number such as 646, 501 etc... in that case if your numers are not in the international format the phone picks up the nearest alternative name to the number and displays it.. if u save your contact details in international format it does not happen...
e.g +91 ..... in case of numbers from india...
Thanks
Ok I will give that a Try.
How can you tell what number the SMS is from.
When I open it, it just shows the name it has choosen but no number.

818pro 2 queries about phone function

SMS send problem at +49 xxxxx numbers

Hi i found a Bug in my German 1.48 Rom, when i want to send a sms to a saved contact.
If the contact has a saved number starts with +49 (for germany) the sms software think this contact number is wrong and don't allowed me to send the sms. Get the message: "Can't finde the Shortdial 00" <- 00 is the same like "+"
If i switch the number to normal national format starts with 017.. it works without any problem.
I use O2 Network.
Regards,
Snappy
hi, I'm using o2 Germany, too, and have no issues. All SMS are sent and recieved fine. Maybe something went wrong during setup?
I found that replying to any international number that has brackets around the first part of the number, the txt does not get sent. e.g. +44 (7890) 123 456. But if you send a txt directly from the contact it is ok. Outlook does not let you remove the brackets but you can if you edit the contact on the phone, then it sends txts ok.
Btw this problem also occurs on my HTC Xda Orbit II.

Click to collapse
try to store the contact with international acces number (+49 for germany)
Well, then the problem would be that if the particular contact calls (voice call), then the name might not be displayed...
