I tried to run lokiwiz and got some weird results, flashed one of Summiters roms and got some of the features, but not all. Is there a way to determine of the CID unlock "took" ?

Hey guys! I have a 8125 that I unlocked to use with my T-Mobile service using lokiwiz 0.3... I really like it and it works great... Here is my system information.
ROM version 2.25.11.1 WWE
ROM date: 5/11/06
Radio version 02.25.11
Protocol version 4.1.13.12
ExtROM version 2.25.11.102
I was thinking about CID unlocking using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=56088 so that I could install that new T-Mobile ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=57963 ...
I was wondering should I upgrade to the new rom and would it be worth it...
Also I wanted to know the benefits of upgrading to this rom...
I have been reading on this website about how upgrading this rom or something is irreversible?? Please tell me what you think I should do...
Thanks in advance!

Upgrading is not irriversible. First thing you should alaywas do before any upgrade is a backup. Im talking about a dump of the original ROM to a memory card - you only need like 56MB for a full rom dump perhaps even less. Then worse case you boot into the boot loader and restore that.

Ok thank you! I will make shure to do that ....
Any other opinions/suggestions???
Does anyone else have anything to say about my question??? I know you guys are very knowledgeable...
I have read many posts on this site that pertain to unlocking the Wallaby.
I have not actually tried it yet becuase I read that the XDAtools does not work on a wallaby without wmodem.exe. I happen to have a unit that seems to old for the XDAtool unlock and I want to make sure I have this straight.
The Wallaby is:
ROM Version: A.30.09 ENG (upgraded from ppc2002)
ROM date: 01/01/04
Radio version: A.20.10
Protocol version: 324e4
Model No.: PW10B1
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi guys!
This is where I am right now. I've flashed my MDA Vario.. it's now SIM and CID unlocked. I have the lastest T-Mobile ROM in.
Here is my question. Where do I go from here? I mean, should I make a full backup (how to do this) before putting a new ROM in? And which ROM is the best (fast and stable)?
Please help me out!
T-Mobile MDA Vario
ROM version: 2.21.2.6 WWE
ROM date: 3/9/06
Radio version: 02.19.11
Protocol ver.: 4.1.13.09
ExtROM ver.: 2.21.2.109
IPL: 2.21
SPL: 2.21
A full backup would not really help if you want to flash your device with a new ROM.
Your second question is more a question of likes and dislikes:
I decided for myself to stick with the latest official ROM from T-Mobile (in my case AKU3.3 TMO Germany). The neat design of USER-made WM6 ROMs were just not worth the trouble and problems I got after 'upgrading'.
However,
this is my personal opinion and there are hundreds of users out there which are happely using the WM6.
Regarding to the threads here FARIA's ROM is highly recommended! Check out the WIZARD WM6 UPGRADE section here in the forum ...
Thank you for your opinion.
I would be happy to hear more suggestions...
ok so i too have had the message
"The phone is not ready. Wait 15 seconds and try again."

but after alot of experimenting i have found a solution. i thought i'd post this to help anyone else out with the same problem!
I bought an M600 on orange PAYG however on inserting my orange contract sim i can use the phone but cannot send SMS messages or adjust phone settings, if i attempt to all i get is the message above.
having spoken to orange about this several times it turns out to be a sim compatibility issue. orange however do not support sim swapping all they can do is send out sims compatible with the handset they sent you! i.e the N73 i got on upgrade.
So my solution, i paid imei-check to CID unlock the phone, i actually already unlocked the phone using lockiwiz but that will only remove the simlock on a G4 and AFAIK imei-check are the only people to unlock the CID.
once unlocked i backed up the shipped rom to SD as described in the prophet WIKI (just in case i needed to restore it to orange settings) and then upgraded the rom.
i tried several shipped roms and eventually found this rom the
RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_?QtekWWE_Ship.exe

to not only work but also be in english. its a great rom, very basic without all the junk orange supply as standard
I don't really know why this has solved my problem i think its something to do with the radio rom but whatever it is it works perfectly!
below is my phones new info, if someone with the orange Rom could post the same I'd be interested to compare the versions.
ROM version: 2.20.7.34 WWE
ROM date: 7/10/06
Radio version: 02.47.21
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.24
ExtROM version: 2.20.7.114
I hope this helps someone out there!
for discussion purposes
That sounds weird why it works like that since my understanding of unlocking CID was merely so that one could install different ROMs. Someone pls correct me if I'm wrong here.

it is!!!! i needed to update the rom to get it to work! as above i stated that i changed from the orange rom to the qtek one, hence CID needs to be unlocked

Afaik, if you remove IPL/SPL from the ROM (There should be tutorials somewhere around here on how to do it) you don't have to CID unlock your phone.
I would really like to try this! I am always getting the same error so often whenever I send a new sms. I have an i-mate JAMin, prophet touch X ipl&spl 2.20, gsm 2.69. I can't find the ROM you're talking about in the xda-developer's ftp. Can you please upload it? Thank you so much!
its on the wiki page
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Prophet_ROMs
Okay If I installed this, do I have to reinstall wm6 and then my current ROM again(Prophet Touch X)?
yes i expect so, i'm no expert, thats just the way i solved the problem on mine!
i think it has to do with the radio rom version
You can update the radio ROM without having to change the normal ROM.

I am currently using v2.69. Does it mean I have to downgrade or test other versions? How about you? What version are you using guys?
hey as i stated, i'm not entirely sure what eaxctly it was that the replacement rom fixed but it did fix it!
Are you guys using orange M600s? whats your rom info?
mine was:
ROM version: 2.20.7.34 WWE
ROM date: 7/10/06
Radio version: 02.47.21
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.24
ExtROM version: 2.20.7.114
unfortunately i had my phone stolen so i can't help much more than that.
Okay I have fixed mine. I tried all versions but only version 2.30.21 of Radio ROM only fixed my problem. Thanks guys for all the help.

I had the same issues, updated my M600 to the above ROM and it now works perfectly

if so - what is a radio rom (and what does it replace?)
can you run these radio roms with wm6.1? or does it mean going back to 5?
sorry for all the questions i am despirate to get my phone working!!
I have a similar problem, going to try the rom you recommended but thought I'd post my pre-rom stats.

Hi all
Just been given a Qtek S200 and I'm looking to get the latest and greatest version of Windows Mobile on there. Nothing fancy. A clean version with all basic hardware functions working, maybe a media player too.
Thing is, after browsing the wiki, i'm still not sure where to begin. The device has always had a Telfort NL sim card in it but I don't know if its locked or not.
ROM version: 2.9.7.24 WWE
ROM date: 2/9/06
Radio version: 07.07.20
Protocol version: 413.1.03
ExtROM version: 2.9.7.106
Device info: OMAP950 / 195mhz / Ram 64mb / Flash 128mb
IPL: 2.09
SPL: 2.09.0000
GSM: 02.07.20
OS: 2.9.7.24
So it appears that my phone is a G3 version, but do I need to CID unlock it? and how can I tell if i need to sim unlock it? Aside from that I don't know what a Hard/SoftSPL is/means.
There doesnt seem to be a recent guide that covers start to finish... I'll just post this now and carry on reading tho. I'm not an idiot but there is quite a lot of information to digest. I've come from the world of Nokia's and iPhones and not had a Windows Mobile device before...
So theres usually a list of files I need and steps I need to take. I've seen these packages on the forum here but I don't know what to do with them. More reading...
