I have an Orange M600, but when people phone me & want to leave a message the phone rings for around 1 minute before being diverted to the answerphone which I feel is far too long.
Does anybody know how to shorten this waiting time, I have looked through the manuals and the only setting I can see is to change to answer after 3 rings without pushing any buttons which isn't what I want.
I think that's the Orange problem. You can't really get anything to make it faster. You can try calling your friend (on Orange) to see if it is the same 1 minute.

For example, to forward to 1234567890 after allowing your phone to ring for 25 seconds, you would enter:
*61*1234567890*11*25#
replace 1234567890 with your voice mail number...
should work on all gsm network...

How do I set the ring time, or number of rings before answering on my xda mini s. I have looked in phone settings but can't see anything that relates to how long it should ring for before I answer or it diverts to answering machine.
If its in my pocket, I have trouble getting it out before its diverted to answer machine. Is there a setting that I'm missing somewhere as I would like to double the short ringtime to a more reasonable length.
I also read somewhere about a newer rom than the o2 release rom. Anyone know where this is and what it does.

The maximum you can set it to is 30 seconds, but I'd like it to be longer as I seem to be missing calls!
I've noticed that the phone icon in the task bar comes on for about 5 seconds before it rings, has anyone else noticed this?

I contacted o2 about this as it eluded me for so long. They said:
Go to phone screen, type **61*901*11*, followed by the time in seconds and finish with # and click the green talk key.
I could get to 30 seconds and no more despite o2 saying I could set up to 60 seconds. What a lot of messing about. I agree (as does a friend) that it would be nice to get a longer delay as the preset time is too short and the maximum of 30 could be better. I suppose 30 seconds is something to do with the network.
Ah well. Nothing is perfect even when its close. Maybe in time.
Can somebody please tell me how to adjust the length of ring tones when a call comes in.....it rings probably 2/3 times before going to voice mail, barely giving me time to grab it....thanks.

click on call forwarding and retrieve the settings.
here you can change the length of time before the call is forwarded to answerphone up to 30 seconds. more than enough time for you to get the phone from your handbag :wink:

I have a T-Mobile MDA Vario II on T-Mobile, and it seems to go to answerphone (when someone calls me) before I can get it out of the case and answer it.
I tested it from my landline phone and it starts ringing (on the Vario and in the earpiece of the landline phone) after 13 seconds, and goes to answerphone after 30 seconds. This only gives me 17 seconds to answer whereas my old SE P900 on Orange gave me around 45 seconds.
Is there any mod I can do to my Vario to fix this? or should I call T-Mobile and see if they can change something at their end?

I've just tested my Vario II with an Orange PAYG sim card and it again starts ringing at around 13 seconds, but the answer phone didn't kick in until 48 seconds.
(I guess it takes my landline phone 13 seconds to dial the long mobile number and establish a connection).
This gives 35 seconds in which to answer the phone with the Orange simcard as opposed to just 17 seconds with the T-Mobile simcard and suggests that my issue is with T-Mobile UK.
Can anyone test their Vario II (or infact any mobile phone) on UK T-Mobile and let me know how long it takes for your answerphone to kick in?
This is a real problem for me as it takes 17 seconds to get the phone out of my pocket and remove it from the case, or to find it in my house when it starts ringing!

All you have to do is call tmobile CS on 150 and ask them to increase the ring time before it diverts to voicemail.

Turn it off entirely, or up it to 30 seconds.
I guess you still have to call T-Mob if you need an option that's not there.
For T-Mobile UK enter the following GSM Code for 30 Second ring before answer phone:
**61*+447987958313**30#
61 is the Code for T-Mobile UK
+447987958313 is the T-Mobile Answer Phone No
30 is the Number of seconds
Try **61*destination*11*nn#[SEND]

You may need to call T-Mobile to be able to change anything. I had to call them so I could disable call diversion, once they've set it up I can turn it on/off myself.

This is the method I used on my UK T-mobile Vario II to increase ring time. Works like a charm.

That number is YOUR voicemail access number, you may want to remove it from your post.
@g00nerz: That's the method I chose, but the others are interesting too because I didn't know about the '*' commands
So many settings on this thing, I thought I'd been through them all !!

This worked for me as well, it was starting to do my head in having to race to answer the phone before the call diverted to voicemail! Many thanks

How do i reset ringer to ring longer before voicemail gets it
So I upgrade from an 8125 to my 8525, and at one point I found this article in the Wizard forum about how to INCREASE the time before voicemail picked up. I was able to set it to something like 40 seconds. My 8525 seems to send my calls to voicemail after like 20...I've searched everything I can think of and it's not bringing me the result i want. Does anyone know how to do this. Thanks!
I asked my provider (orange UK) to lengthen the ring time + they gave me a code to put into the phone.
worked fine, maximum 30secs though
On t-mobile uk, I think that these settings are in the voicemail settings, ie you ring the voicemail number and it gives you a list of options.
I actually called Cingular and they said they can increase the ringer length on their end, but only to a maximum of 30 seconds. Kinda stinks, I would love a 40 second ringer. Oh well.

1) In phone, under options, setting, call forwarding, there is an option to forward calls only if no answer, and you can set it to 5 to 30 seconds (in 5 second intervals).
2) Setup speed dials for changing.
*61*xxxxxxxxxx**yy#, where xxxxxxxxxx is the phone number that showed up in the forward if no answer above, and yy is the number of seconds to wring before going to voice mail.
I use method 2. When going into a meeting, I have a speed dial for going to vm after 10 seconds so that it does not vibrate and keep someone waiting for the phone to answer, when I won't be answering. When out, I speed dial to reset to 30 seconds.

I kept missing calls by the time I'd sruggled to get the thing out my pocket, then out its pouch!!
Was originally set to 15 secs, used method 1, now i have twice as long to answer!
I keep on missing the call because of the ring being to short! I found this article.
If your phone is sending calls to voicemail before you can get to it, you can actually adjust how long it rings before going to voicemail. Here's how to do it.
AT&T and T-Mobile both use the same method, which lets you change the number of rings right from your phone. To do it:
Dial *#61# from your phone. Tap Send.
You should see a new screen that displays a bunch of information about what's getting forwarded. You should see a line under "Voice Call Forwarding" that says "Forwards to +11234567890" (where 11234567890 is an eleven digit phone number, likely different from your phone number). Write down this number and tap Dismiss.
Now, dial **61*+11234567890*11*XX# and hit Send, where 11234567890 is the number that you found in step two and XX is the number of seconds you want to wait until voicemail picks up. You can set it in increments of 5, where 30 seconds is the maximum.
After you hang up that call, you can have someone call your phone and see if it worked. On some phones, you can dial *#61# again and see how long it's delaying your calls, but our test phone (the iPhone) did not show this information.
Alternatively, you should be able to call AT&T or T-Mobile customer service and have them change it from their end, if you're uncomfortable doing it yourself.
