Keyboard light always on when on AC - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Is it possible (through registry maybe) to let the keyboard light ben always on when it's on power.
I'm a lot in the car at night, and it's really annoying that I have to push some key to activate the keyboard light and see what I really wanted to type.
I've seen 2 entries, Qkeyledtimeout and on/off
but those aren't the ones I was looking for.

Keyboard backlight sensor - buggy?

Hi Guys,
I have been playing with a Hermes for a day now in order to decide on using it or the Wizard. I am aware of the alignment and stylus grip issue, but is the keyboard backlight sensor iffy?
Until I turned off the sensor, I found that the keyboard backlight wouldn't always turn on at all, even with the phone in a completely dark room.
Apart from that, seems a nice phone (other historic issues nothwithstanding) and certainly faster and easier to use than the Wizard.
For info, my serial number starts HT640, which is much later than the others on the wiki (I have added it to the list) so maybe it's 'new an improved'?? We can but hope.
even in a dark room and you pull the keyboard out you still need to press a key on the keyboard before the backlight comes on...

Yep, I know that - it doesn't work.
lighting issues
I've taken to holding my thumb completely over the sensor for a second or 2 and beginning to type, this usually activates it when it will not automatically light the pad (even in virtual darkness). Mine does seem a but sporadic, sometimes it works automatically, other times not.
Why not just disable the light sensor?
Settings > Personal > Buttons > Backlight

umm..if you have to disable features, doesn't that defeat the purpose of having them?
I don't really consider the light sensor a feature, more an option. I think the blue backlight is cool, so like to keep it on all the time when I'm using the keyboard, daylight or no.
However, for the purposes of this thread, removing the potentially buggy sensor from the equation will help narrow down any problems, is it the lights, the phone, or the sensor that causes erratic behaviour.
Works fine for me though.

Changing Keyboard Backlight Settings

I've been trying to find the registry settings that control how fast the backlight comes on when I open my keyboard to no avail...all too often I find myself in the dark waiting a full second or two for the keyboard to come on and it annoys the daylights out of me. If anybody has some insight on a quick fix, I appreciate the info.
if you go to settings - buttons - backlight you can disable the autosensor for the keyboard light, not sure if it will make it come on any faster but it might (since rather than checking ambient light it will just turn the backllight on by default)
When you turn off keyboard auto-sensing the keyboard comes on as soon as you press a button on the keyboard. I have found that the sensor is too strict with using the backlight, there were plenty of times I could not see the keys but the light did not turn on. Too bad, wasted feature.

yeah i totally know what you're talking about...even with the light sensor option turned off, it still takes a couple seconds for the keyboard backlight to turn on. i've always found that a bit annoying. i'm guessing it's a hardware thing, i doubt there'd be a registry tweak to speed up the keyboard backlight. it'd be nice if there was though...

Turn Off the Keypad Light

I'm wondering if there is a way to turn off the keypad light.
The keypad light only makes sense. I know you can dim the display backlight (a registry change) and that helps a bit, but it would be even better to turn off only the Keypad.
My device is a Trinity but I guess a standard registry hack could exist.
I've searched around and haven't found anything. Any help is appreciated
go to pocketmax.net and look for the keylight version.
I have it and use it and love it!

I've just tried it.
I guess it's perfect for Keyboard but not for Keypad.
Thank you anyway.
Please, no one has any solution ?

Keyboard Backlight Problem

Hello
I have a problem with my 8525 hardware keyboard.
I have the backlight auto sensor enabled and the light doesnt turn on when i slide my phone open.
But... when its on the charger it works
Whats the problem??
Im using joshes m2d light 3g rom
Thanks in advance!
Does it turn on after you start typing or does it stay dark?
it does turn on after i start typing,
but i would like to get the sensor to start working
so it will turn on when i slide the phone open
Backlight issue
I've discovered from just using my 8525 that the backlight to the keyboard goes on when I first press a key on the keyboard but only if the light in the room is very low. Sometimes it seems like the light level in the room is low enough but the backlight still doesn't go on. Too bad there isn't a low-light level adjustment for the backlight feature.
Just so folk know - it is possible to set it up so when you open the keyboard it lights up regardless of the light level and key presses. Right now I can't remember how!! but I set mine up that way ages ago. Does use more battery power however so it is not necessarily a good thing - but looks pretty.

Capacitive buttons / trackball light control?

So the one thing that is annoying me a lot about my Nexus One is the backlight on the 4 capacitive buttons and the trackball flashing at night when it sites on my nightstand. I guess I could also add the charge light to this case as well. But that is less bothersome at the moment.
Does anyone have anymore information on whether the light for the trackball, capacitive buttons, and charge light can be disabled?
The only bits of information I can find searching is that the phone needs to be rooted to do this. That is great. What would be the next step? Is there a /proc listing for the trackball, capacitive buttons light, charge light that might take input to disable them?
Would love to hear if anyone has more information on this subject as i can't seem to find much info.
I have the same problem because I either have mine on the bed with me or on the night stand and that damn track ball light is bright when its pitch black, and I can't even tell you how many times I've bumped those damn capacitive buttons while typing or just in an app.
I hope the guys building custom roms will add toggles, or some developer will make toggles for rooted phones that would be very awesome and appreciated, I don't think just by me either.
I've never seen mine flash while charging, maybe if you have an alert, but you can clear those before you plop your phone down for the night.
the only light i have on when charging is the little orange light....
I'm guessing, that you need to answer a message or email or something.
You can use LEDs Hack, from the Market, to disable them; you can even configure it to automatically disable them when you plug in your phone, and re-enable them when you un-plug. It's free, from the developer who created Bedside, the (IMHO) best night clock app. (If you like LEDs Hack, you might try Bedside for a mere $1.50 -- a pittance, really.)
My impression is that if you have the built in clock application running before you turn your phone off, trackball and buttons light won't turn on even if you have an alert. I might be wrong though...

LEDs Hack looks EXACTLY what I am looking for. Thank you for this tip (doesn't show up in my searches. But found on androlib.com).
IMHO, this functionality SHOULD be native in the phone.
I wonder if this program also covers the trackball light flashing?
Yes, I know the flashing is because I have a message waiting. But the point is, I don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night because of a flashing light just for a silly email or text message!
