Camera Zoom

Does the zoom feature only work in Video mode?
I haven't been able to get it to work in camera mode on my XDAII.. is this normal?
/me thinks I should read the manual...
You should be able to zoom with the camera, I can with mine, by pressing "up" on the round pad to zoom in and "down" to zoom out.
Hmm.. in camera mode mine doesn't.. looks like I better call O2 support.
Maybe in your camera mode youre capture size is set to large, then it won't work. Set it to small and you can now

Click to collapse
Raoul, you are right on the money!
Thanks for that, saved me a wait on hold I am sure!
You've cracked it already, but just to explain for all other users.
The camera of the XDA2 has a DIGITAL zoom (that is, it zooms in by interpolating the pixels), not by a proper optical zoom.
This obviously reduces images quality too.
For it to work of course, if the camera is capable of 640x480, then the XDA2 needs to be using a SMALLER image size.
If you use the smallest size then usually two stages of zoom are allowed.
If you use a medium image resolution, then only one stage of zoom is allowed.
And of course, if you are already using 640x480, then NO digital zoom is possible, as there is no possibility to interpolate the size of the images and pixels.
This applies to all devices that feature a digital zoom.
THANK YOU, EVERYBODY
Finally, after 7 months owing I-MAte I really know how to use camera on it
I did not use it very often, but it is neat to know what it is capable to do

Wizard Compatible Camera Applications?

Guys,
Been looking for a long time for this but I have forgotten (until now) the treasure trove of info that is xda-developers.com
I've got a Wizard (appropriately magic!) and aside from the crappy camera it's pretty much (my) ideal. Having moved from the k750i to this it was a reality check! Anyway, I had the MDAc as well and with a bit of tweaking it was possible to achieve semi-decent pictures with it. I hope someone can find appropriate settings for the Wizard.
Anyway, my query is this: I once had a series 60 Nokia and purchased two great apps - PhotoFusion and PhotoTwister:
http://www.scalado.com/?oid=378&_locale=1
http://www.scalado.com/?oid=379&_locale=1
I also had similar apps on my p900. These allow you to add distortion etc in real time to your photographs (good for taking funny contact pics) and also to construct, for example, big panorama images (horizontally and vertically).
I would love to have a similar application (or applications) on my Wizard, though I can't find any similar products. Am I just not looking hard enough?
Stegz
If it helps jog memories at all, there was another similar (but not as good) application on the Nokia called CameraFX.
POCKET GOO
this Software is very very nice to Twist images...
it's alot of fun , you should try:
http://www.download.com/Pocket-Goo/3000-2176_4-10214953.html
It's close - more of an after-effects type arrangement though.
That cameraFX app was great... my sister wasn't too happy with the contact picture I had for her though!

ipaq 514 camera video settings

I was browsing inside WM6 registry keys for Camera on my Ipaq 514.
\\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Pictures\Camera\OEM\VideoProfile
So here you can find 3 different profiles not just that you can select in Camera/Video options Quality MMS 176x144.
I have not much experience with WM6 but every not so ordinary user is asking himself, can this option be tweaked to make some bigger resolution videos.
1.3 MP camera is in my opinion not a limit to do at least 320x220, only if OMAP proc running at 200Mhz cant take it!
Different encoding codecs?

Samsung driver / camera in HD2?

When taking a picture in Footprints (landscape mode) the camera model, reported in Exif is Samsung S5K3E2FX 5MP BAYER). The picture size of this pictures are usually about 10 to 15 % bigger in mb than the pictures taken in normal camera mode and the quality is much better. Does anyone know if the HD2 uses a different driver to take the Footprint pictures, and if that is the case, is it possible to use that driver to take the normal pictures to? I am using artemis V 9.0 rom and BSB 1.61 superfine cameramod if that makes a difference.

[Q] Stock camera parameters tweaks

Hi there, I was wondering if someone ever tried to tweak the camera parameters. I mean: how to produce an uncompressed file like I used to do on my old Nokia N8. I had 4mb photographs with great quality. And I could achieve this result just by modding a single txt file.
Something like this can be done with third party camera apps, but I'd prefer to stay with the stock.
Any suggestion?
Oh, c'mon!
