Jabra bt620s and HTC Wizard

HI to all,
i just received the new jabra bt620s to run a2dp (bluetooth stereo) on my wizard. I have to say i also have a motorola ht820, with which i experience severe problems with a2dp, both with the test rom and the new rom with the "upgrade". The problem which i had with the motorola was a very annoying intermittent a2dp connection, i mean a fraction of a second missing (sometimes extending up to 1-5 seconds) every 10-50 seconds. Listening music like this is - frankly - unacceptable and i decided to change headset.
I have the jabra in action since one hour. the Jabra bt620s is simply FANTASTIC. not only it works flawlessly (i also run voice command) but a2dp is PERFECT, no interruptions. The bluetooth field is about 5m and within the range i never have interruptions. Basses are louder (larger speaker than the motorola) and the comfort is superb (but i also liked the motorola comfort). The volume, a bit weak on both headsets, can be increased by increasing the intensity on media player: however, the motorola shows evident distortions at 100% while the jabra stands beautifully and delivers indeed what you' expect. The look of the jabra is more elegant than the "princess leyla" one of the motorola.
the jabra also has some other nice features: it can be used - through USB - as headset with the windows pc, and media player can be controlled from the headset buttons.
installation on the wizard is flawless in both cases. Now i am using ROM 2.17 and the patch you find on xda-developers.
I cannot guarantee anybody that the jabra works perfectly on ANY wizard. In fact, despite all attempts with my motorola, i also noticed in this forum that other motorola users were satisfied with the a2dp. It was not my case, and i really tried everything - including switching off all the radio sources i have at home (cordless, tv relay, wifi). However, even at my workplace the motorola doesn't work, so i don't feel it is an environment problem but more the specific wizard-headset coupling. The Jabra works as expected! I have the impression both are good and genuine products by professional firms, but in my case one works and the other doesn't. FYI, i bought my motorola in Singapore and my Jabra in Germany/i wonder if different distributors sells equipment with different qualities...but i doubt it. Anyway i have no doubt where they are manufactured!
I just want to propagate my experience: if you want an a2dp headset, buy two (and sell the one you like less) or try it beforehand if you have the chance of finding a store with the material on stock...;-)

I like them both also. My 820 works better than my 620 when it comes to voice command. Getting the Voice Command to operate via headset,620, is hit or miss moreso than the 820. I have had both for over a month. I do use the 620 when I am in the gym or when I am not really going to use the Voice Command feature. I wish TCMP was controllable via AVRCP it would really make the headsets stand out. The sound is way better thru TCMP. I am waiting for the Nextlink Spiders to come out, next month hopefully, it is supposed to put both of these to shame.
I am running Summiter's latest ROM with extra ringers and A2DP and the sort.

i fully agree with all your statements but i want to raise again the point that - with my qtek 9100 - the motorola doesn't work correctly while the jabra does!

I just received my jabra BT620s too and I love it!! I didn't have another A2DP headphones before that, but I can tell that it's well built and I find them more stylish than the Motorola BT820. The music sounds great and the phone function is well incorporated. I wish there was a easier way to start the music than from the bluetooth settings (somebody should write a small app that we could map to a button) and I'll like to use something else that WMP to play the music, like TCPMP or Pocket Player.
I'm still trying to do the same functions on my WinXP machine, but I'm unable to send the music to the headphones, even after pairing... If someone know how to do it, let me now. Is there a way to control WMP or Winamp throught bluetooth stereo headphones? By the way I use the widcomm stack on my computer.

i don't have BT on the PC, but i could connect the bt620s to the pc with the USB cable. Just push both big pads after 10 secs you are connected to the PC usb, as described in the manual. You can pause/FF from the headset, for example...

Hi guys!
I am thinking of investing a few dollars in a 2.5" to 3.5" plug (I think I found a good one) and I want to start plugging in my Wizard to my portable stereo.
This way I can listen to playlists by the pool, in hotel rooms, etc.
I was wondering if you guys have any advice or words of wisdom?
Are you happy with Windows Media Player?
Can it use playlists created in WMP from the Windows XP edition?
Sound quality okay?
Does the machine freeze at all?
I reallllly don't want to buy an iPod, so instead of experimenting, I figured I would ask you guys for your opinions on the matter.
In terms of the plug adapter, I know there are other threads about this. I am looking at the one at Pocket PC Techs.
I wonder if any other media player app allow cross-fading between tracks. I don't think the WMP does.
I look forward to any advice/comments/ideas before I get started!

I use Mort Player and it works well. It is freeware which is a bonus. I splashed out a whole 79p (That's 79 whole English pence) on an adaptor and the sound through my Creative headphones is great. I only use it as a back up for my mp3 anyway but it works a treat.

use tcpmp instead-its got eq/pre amp etc and it plays more than just mp3/wma.
think I payed about 1.50 for my adaptor. I recommend Koss Sparkplug headfones, they sound excellent 8)

I heard that many make the sound in Mono, or don't work well with out four-pin out Wizards...

2.5mm to 3.5mm adaptor
The adaptor I purchased was very cheap (and some would say nasty) but it works well with a decent set of stereo headphones. Indeed I was surprised at the sound quality compared to the standard phones that come with the device.

I have also been using my pda as an mp3 player for a while now. I use it mostly for podcasts, I have two ways of using it.
1) I have an adaptor I bought from expansys about 2 years ago for my first PDA Phone, and it happens to work with each I have owned since. I listen in the car with a tape deck adaptor and also with headphones.
2) I use WM5 Storage and connect it to my work laptop using a spare USB cable. Using WMP on my work computer I listen as if it was just a spare drive in the system.

I got my adapter from a Hong Kong dealer via eBay and it's great. Proper 4-pole mini plug and it even includes a tie-clip microphone in-line so you can use it as a hands-free in the car or whereever. Works great, and seems well enough built for the price of about 90p plus £3.50 postage! I wish I'd got a couple more in the same package now, so I could have one connected to the home Hi-Fi, etc.

I shelled out about 70 USD for a Jabra BT stereo headset. Best ever investment I made. Although it's pretty big and more like the studio headphone the sound quality is really good. Plus I use my phone handsfree and I can pick up calls easy as the music pauses and resumes after the calls.
If you have the money, you should try it. It's liberating.

the 2 ways i listen to music is
1: at the gym with my jabra bt620 which i love because of the great quality and no wires and

I just went to the local electrostore and bought the adaptor for € 1.
I'm also using it in my car to listen to radiostations on the internet.
I'm using a cassettetape with a headjack on it, put that in the adapter....

WMP stinks for PodCasts, it never remembers where you left off when you previously listened. It is great however for A2DP.
I had bought the Logitech iPod wireless headset for my old iPod, and once I put A2DP on my MDA I paired the Logitech with it and presto, I had a great headset that worked in stereo with the MDA.
I use WMP when I need to be able to control the selections (next, previous, pause, play) with the headset. Otherwise I use TCPMP for listening in my car, since it will remember where I left off the last time I listened. I have a cable that plugs directly from my phone to the AUX input on my car stereo, and the sound is fabulous.
I would like to see someone (Microsoft, take a hint!) make a media player that puts bookmarks in songs so whenever you come back to that song/podcast you can have the choice to pickup where you left off, or start over from the beginning. With podcasts and audio books, I always want to pick up were I left off. This is where iPod kicks butt over everything else! And I miss that part of it. (my son needed my iPod more than I did to "fit in" with all the kids at school, so he has it now)
I highly recommend if you don't have A2DP yet to get it, either by downloading the A2DP cab file or upgrading your MDA to the AKU2 ROM that will have it. Then get yourself some A2DP capable headphones like the Motorola HT820 (I've heard good things about these) or the iCombi AH10 headset. Both will act as headphones as well as have the mic to talk when someone calls.

Taking into consideration what I have below, which cab file should I use. I have a HT820 and am just chomping at the bit to get a2dp. Thanks.

A2DP and a bluetooth stereo headset is definitely the way forward! It's made my MP3 listening much more pleasurable than before when I used a 2.5 - 3.5mm jack and had to have my Wizard in cable length of my ears.
More expensive, but definitely the way to go.

MortPlayer + Car Screen Skin = Awesomeness.

I use PocketMusic, works a treat. The free version's okay, I tried the bundle and whilst some of the bits are good (the today-screen plugin) it wasn't enough to warrant paying for it. Main thing I like about it is that it looks good, and also can browse for choons directly from a network drive (which WMP, Mort and others didn't seem to be able to do).

You need to get out more.
I got my adapter from eBay. Cost £2 IIRC.

Check out manyui on eBay. He sells adapters for tons of phones. I ordered one for my MDA from him and it works great.

USB Radio Transmitter

Does anyone know of a Kaiser compatable radio transmitter for the Kaiser so I can use it like an itrip and play my tunes from my kaiser in my car over a radio frequency?

Any old usb/headphone splitter will allow you to do this, as the FM transmitter element simply plugs into the 3.5mm headphone jack - FM transmitters are, notoriously, pants though but if its your only option, I would suggest getting your own splitter and then getting a different FM transmitter that has digital tuning, so you can select any frequency, and not be limited to 4.

Personally I use the belkin 3.5 inch universal FM transmitter.

I use an iTech-clip connected to a cassete player adapter normally for a walkman. Gives me BT stereo music and when clipped to the sunvisor acts as a hands-free automatically cutting off the music when a call comes in.

It took me a while to track one down! But I finally did and I just purchased on off ebay... It is from a brand called Scosche. It sells new for US$90.
It functions as a Bluetooth Reciever (for bluetooth devices with Audio Push, such as the Keiser...) and as a hands free. It plugs into the car power, and I understand it has a built in battery for portability. I should be receiving it later next week, I'll update on how it works

I was one of the first in the states to get the venturi and have been using it for several weeks now. The quality is great and it is the only device I know of that transmits caller ID to the FM radio via RBDS. It is not the cheapest, but only thing i know that transmits FM, charges phone, and does bluetooth calling/stereo. (not to mention it works flawlessly with the Tilt/kaiser)

I have a Monster Icarplay for the ipod. I am wondering if there's any way of modding it to use on my kaiser. I know the ipod connecter is just a modified usb connector - so I am wondering there is some sort of adapter that goes from ipod connecter to regular usb. I don't think I can just snip off the end and solder in a reg. usb because there are controles on the ipod connecter plug. Any thoughts?

I'm browsing around trying to decide what unit to purchase. The thing I like about the Motorola is I do not have to plug it into my cigarette lighter (other than for a charge, of course).
But, I had purchased a Motorola speaker phone a couple years ago and the sound quality for the person on the other end was pretty bad. With this sound quality for me as the listener would probably be OK, as it would go through the radio.
Has anyone used one of these yet that can report back?
The positive feedback from Venturi on the Verizon one sounds good.

what I want to know is ...
how does it transmit to the FM wirelessly though ???
and if there's another radio nearby happened to be scanning stations ... will it also pick up my private conversation ??
I can understand when this is routed through the cigarette lighter plug ... but wireless ??? and they don't specify the type of FM radio ... so I just assumed any regular car FM stereo ...
anyone for answers ???

Good questions.
It seems to me that it transmits to the FM device via BlueTooth; then the FM device transmits to the radio over FM frequency.
And I assume that if someone in a car nearby (I don't think it will transmit very far) happens to tune the the same FM frequency you are using, that they in fact would pickup your conversations.
I would like to be able to have the bluetooth transmit my stereo to my radio, and if I have on a BT headset, have my conversations go there. But, I'm not sure that is possible.

PDA Bluetooth working with Car Stereos?

I have been searching long and hard to find a working solution to make my PDA work with my car stereos bluetooth, my stereo is able to use both audio bluetooth and headset bluetooth with live info like signal strength, battery and more.
Dose anyone else have trouble with make PDA's work with car stereos?
I have tryed to contact Both phone maker and stereo maker, both tell me it is not campatable due to the type of bluetooth in each are different. The ones in a PDA are the same as the ones in PC, and in regular phones it is a dumb down version and the same goes with car stereos it a dumb down version and the send signals differently.

you could use something like the R35 clip bluetooth and plug that into an auxillary input wired to your car stereo. Then your PDA bluetooth can sync up with the R35 bluetooth thingy and would be input into your car stereo...
i assume you have a BMW tho with built in bluetooth which would not work.
and by different version of bluetooth they probably mean like v1.1 or v1.2. i dunno if that'd make it not work but it is probably a culprit.

I do not have an auxillary input on my car. And as far as the bluetooth they are different chipsets with different ver also.

I dont have an external solution, i actually have a Head Unit that has BT built in. It is a sony series reciever. WORKS GREAT! i use it everyday. One of the best purchases i made for my POS car.

Seconded -- I have the Sony MEX-5000BT and its BT performance is better than any headset/headphones I've ever used.

Maybe I need to buy a sony, as pioneer knows about its compatability issues and are not releaseing a firmware update to it. Any other stereos out there that work. I have had issues with sony headsets. I am a real big fan of pioneer and this new head unit I have.
I know there must be a way.
There just has to be.
I will find one you just wait and watch.

I have fond the solution and did not even know it.
I have been working with a friends CAB file trying to make it work in a OEM folder install.
I just happend to ask him what the cab file was.

I have already tried it and it works great.
Infact before when I would connect to my stereo with any phone and the phone would ring it would ring the generic tone. With this plugin, it rings the personalized ringtones have for people. This is cool and all for only $15.

yup, i have the same one. dont know how i lived before i had it.
Also, this unit does allow for ringtone passthrough to you car speakers along with anything else that you can get notifs through BT. The only downside for notifs is that you have to be on the stereo BT function on the radio. Calls will come through reguardless of the function you are using.

Connect WP7 to Car Stereo via USB

I would like to purchase a new cd head unit for my car and use my Zune Pass on my WP7 to play all my music via USB.
Why USB and not 3.5mm aux cable?
I would like to be able to charge my WP7 device and control volume/play/pause/etc from the car CD head unit rather than my WP7 device
Right now, the only CD head units I know of that are capable of this with Zune devices is 2 head units from Kenwood:

I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish is doable, and it's unlikely that it will be. The Win7 phones, at this time, don't have a standard Zune connector, which has specific pinouts for different functions, such as, passing audio, charging, basically controlling functions, etc. (much like the pinout on the iPods/iPhone)
Since all of the phones, at this time, have just USB mini/micro connectors, there has to be a driver associated on the receiver/computer/other device that knows how to communicate with the phone, process what you're trying to accomplish, and basically have digital two-way communication.
The more likely way, is to have a bluetooth enabled head deck, that allows two-way control (I'm pretty sure these are out, not sure about the two way), and a separate car charger...
Anyone else have any input that might help?

I have a kenwood BT-900 car stero that suports the zune hd through the USB port
it works awsome
I now have the WP7 and my kenwood does not see the phone at all only thorugh bluetooth but still does not do music streaming like to should
I beleave the will be testing the new phone out but as you know they don't tell me very much, all I know is the 2 of the support reps ordered WP7s and thought it would work fine but in fact it does not
I'm sure they will have some fix soon I'm hoping

thank you for posting this, I was researching to buy that particular kenwood strictly for this reason. you just saved me a couple hundred dollars.

My car is a Peugeot, about 2 years ago i installed an Extension Box so I can use an USB-Stick to listen to my music. (It uses the external CD-Case Port on the Radio.)
The small box also enabled to connect I-Pod and I-Phone and was able to browse & play from them.
When I connect my WP7 it beeps all the time and can't even load the battery.
As I know, the box writes a playlist on any USB drive which is connected so I suppose WP7 simply doesn't allow this =(.
Hopefully this will be changed by some kind of driver.

I have a KDC-BT8041U in my truck. I connect to it via Bluetooth and use a usb charger when needed. I usually just hit the random play button (the two music notes in a circle on main screen) in Zune Music and then I can use the remote or on dash controls of my Kenwood to skip forward and backward through the songs. I can also pause and mute. The only down side is it does not show song title, artist, etc. on the screen of the stereo and I can't search for specific songs using the stereo. But it is still much better sound quality then AUX jack and you wont have to get caught with your phone in your hands while driving. (illegal where I live)
Another cool feature about this is the music fades out when you get an incoming text or call then resumes after your done. Be sure to go to settings, speech and enable speech recognition over the network, then at the bottom turn Read aloud incoming text messages to bluetooth so you can respond to your text messages using your voice. Work really good.

Guys, you are searching unreal things. It's not a Zune player, it a diffirent device at hardware and connectivity too.
Only one way to use our phone in car is a Bluetooth. It work good, as headset and throught A2DP for hearing music and control playback from car hi-fi.
