Camera Templates - iPAQ rw6828, XDA Atom General

Hi, I've downloaded camera templates from o2 website. But where should I store them?
Can anyone advice me on this? Thanks (=

in templates folder in hidden partition

But the hidden partition cannot be accessed. Even if it can be accessed, the drive is only read -only and cannot be change. So no templates can be add in. Would any experts here kindly advise ?

If hidden partition cann't change, use Resco Explorer go to hidden partition, right click to see Properties, Uncheck Read-only and System.

I wonder if after a camera template has been placed in the hidden partition, should we check the Read-only and System attributes back?
Does changing the folder attributes cause any problem to the system?
Thanks for any response.

how to hide folders?

This is something that I have been trying to do now and then - and is something that should be straightforward - but doesn't appear to be.
In Resco Explorer, if I right-click a folder and then select 'properties' - the properties dialog appears and shows 'Read-only', 'Hidden', 'System' and 'Archive' attributes set to a '-'
If I change the 'Hidden' attribute to a tick and then click apply - I would expect the changes to persist and the folder to then be hidden. I do have 'Hide Folders' ticked under options BTW.
However, the folder is not hidden and on checking the properties again - the attributes are as they were above - each being set to '-'.
I dont understand this as doing the same with files works as expected. Its just trying to hide folders that seems to be the problem.
Is this just not possible in WM5.0? Anyone any ideas?
Have a read through this link, it might not be related to the reasons you wish to hide files/ folders but there is some information contained amongst the fun - best post I have read in a while for a laugh http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=41464
Using explorer, you should be able to make the folder "hidden", i tested it on mine and the folder was hidden from view with normal file explorer.
however, it wasnt hidden from view using resco, even if you tick the box....
I have SPB PP installed to enable the properties option of file explorer, and dont know if its available without SPB.

disable file protection of windows folder

Hi, is there already any solution to disable write protection of the windows folder (ext rom) of the Touch 3g? I'd like to delete some stuff (cabs and sound/movie files) to get more space.
Till now I only found reg-mods or cabs for other phones which most likely wouldn't work on the 3G...
I thought the cab / sound / movie files can be easily deleted using file explorer or Total Commander or Resco
No Total Comander says "couldn't delete". Property of each file says "write protected", but when I uncheck write protection and close the properties dialogue, it's still the same: I can't delete and when I open properties once more, "write protection" is enabled again.
Can you post a few file examples. I'll see what's it like on mine. so we can compare.
thanks for your answers, azahidi! Here are two cabs.
When you look at the properties in Total Comander the box "in Rom" is checked, but it can't be changed, because it's greyed out.
What I noticed is that when I copy a file from the windows folder to my memory card, I can uncheck the "Read only" box in properties and when I copy it back to the windows folder, I can rename it. I can even cut it out from the windows folder and paste it to the memory card again, but when I look into the windows folder, it's back again, with "Read only" and "in Rom" enabled.
It seems to be like the system system file protection in Windows, where the system files are being replaced, when deleted...
So my next step was to create a 0 byte text file, rename it e.g. to "GoogleMaps-ms-htc_compressed.CAB" and overwrite the original cab in the windows folder. But the strange thing is that when you open "Start -> Settings -> System -> Memory" the data storage has not changed a bit...
What's actually strange, too, are the figures, in "Start -> Settings -> System -> Memory" under data storage (in German Datenspeicher, so I hope it's data storage in English)
Alltogether: 98.68 MB
Ocupied: 70.27 MB
Free: 28.41 MB
But:
Total Comander shows following figures for my internal storage:
Alltogether ocupied: 206.0 MB
Only windows folder: 180.9 MB
Files in windows\ without subfolders: 169.0 MB
So I think that part of the windows folder is in fact the ext rom, am I right? But there must be also a hidden part of the ext rom, where the protected files are stored... (compare wiki "extended rom".
So is there someone, who could give some explanation / links or knows someone who knows how to unhide and unlock the ext rom...
Chealuxx,
I understand your predicament. Now it seems that your problem has gone way beyond my expertise level.
Anyway, try this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1571715
I remember using the ROMExtractor.exe once some time ago to modify something but I cannot remember exactly now. Hope this will help.

opera memory problem

good day
can someone tell me how to move the cahe folder of opera browser from the phone memory to the card memory i have an hd blackston wm 6.1
thanks
Hi there,
you can try the following (sourced from mobilitysite.com):
Move data and cache around to save memory
By default Opera installed a bunch of files and keeps cache in precious application data space (RAM). At least with the WM2003se version. By moving all of these files to a CF Card or SD memory stick you free up valuable RAM.
1) Edit the "Opera.ini" file located in "\Application Data\Opera"
2) Go to the "[User Prefs]" group
3) Change "Opera Directory=\Application Data\Opera" to a location that you would prefer such as "\cf card\opera"
4) Change "Help Directory=\Application Data\Opera\Help" to a location that you would prefer such as "\cf card\opera\help"
5) Move the following files and folders to the location that you specified above:
cach4 (folder)
help (folder)
imgcss (folder)
startpage (folder)
styles (folder)
chartables.bin
cookies4.dat
global.dat
opcacrt6.dat
opera.dir
oprand.dat
opssl6.dat
viger.dat
vlink4.dat
You are left with these files/folders in "\Application Data\Opera"
skin (folder)
opera6.adr
input.ini
opera.ini
english.lng

Try connecting via Activesync on your PC to locate the Opera.ini file, not through File Explorer, Resco Explorer, or Total Commander. If you still cannot find the file, on your PC, go to the Control Panel, Folder Options. In Folder Options on the View tab, under Hidden Files and folders, select the Show Hidden Files and Folders radio option, click OK.
1.Connect your phone to your computer, and connect to ActiveSync.
2.Open the ActiveSync window, then click the Explore Device button.
3.Navigate to \Application Data\Opera 9.x.
4.Find the opera.ini file (If you don't have file extensions enabled, it should just show as "opera".)
5.Copy the file to your desktop.
6.Open the file in a text editor, such as Notepad. Immediately do a File>Save as and rename the file to something other than opera.ini. This is your backup, just in case.
7.Now open the original opera.ini file. Scroll down to the [User Prefs] section and insert the following line: Cache Directory4=\Storage Card\operacache\. (Note: "operacache" can be renamed to anything you want.) Save and close the file.
8.Copy the new file back to your device, into the same \Application Data\Opera 9.x.
I'm not aware of any other ways to get around this.

Hi Abiis,
Yes. Unfortunately, this will affect the speed of your browser. I'm not saying you should try this, all I have done is posted a possible solution in reference to your query. I personally wouldn't recommend putting the cache on the storage card as this will result in slowing down the browser and possibly make it crash more often.
It is entirely up to you whether you try this but if you do not want a slow and laggy browser, then I would suggest you avoid doing this.
Good luck

Question How to patch explorer.exe in Windows 7 X64 for don't create $Recycle.bin and System Volume Information folders?

Hello!
More portable USB drive and pendrive "not removable" type, always created $Recycle.bin folder.
How to fully disable $Recycle.bin folder create?
Need: plugged drive do not modify filesystem with $Recycle.bin or System Volume Information
Not need any reply this text: "hide hidden folders". Need real solution.
I have old patch to "Open file" window size set to any size, and patched explorer.exe (not registry mod, real file patch). Need real patch to disable folder creating.
Recycling disabled: all drive zero bytes and disabled.
All registry tips not working:
HKCU/Soft/MS/Win/Curr/Explorer/BitBucket/NukeOnDelete=1
Gpedit only disable "move to recycle bin", not disable folder creating. Not working.
Now created in all drive $Recycle.bin FILE with zero byte, now folder not created... all Windows starting (or delete files) say: Corrupted Recycle bin, recreate? ...popup message for all drive (with this fake file).
SysVolInfo:
Disabled search, disabled thumbnails create.
Available any solution, patch, customizes, manager, etc. for this problem?
Thanks!

Enable Recycle Bin for Removable Drives in Windows 11 Tutorial
The Recycle Bin provides a safety net when deleting files or folders. When you delete any of these items from a hard disk, Windows places it in the Recycle Bin and the Recycle Bin icon changes from empty to full. If you have multiple hard drives, partitions, or an external hard drive connected...

Not ok. I have... many USB pendrive builded HDD type, not "removable" type. And all removable external HDD recreated this folders.
Hi, I also tried all those registry mods and policies but nothing works on my Win7-x64. I found that $Recycle.bin folders on all volumes are created everytime explorer.exe process is started. But a quick look doesn't show that explorer.exe would contains $Recycle.bin string, so maybe it's obfuscated some way or it's in some DLL that explorer.exe calls. I wonder nobody cracked this crap yet...
