XDA 2 shutting down at 30% battery charge - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi guys... i got strange problem on my XDA 2, my radio signal turn-off at 30%, meaning i cannot use my xda 2 to call, then completely shutdown at 25-30% battery charge. Why does my XDA 2 acting this way? Is there a way in the registry program to RESET or RE-CALIBRATE the BATTERY?
Thank you guy!!!

WM2003 is supposed to do that to protect the integrity of the volatile memory.
This isn't a question of recalibrating the battery, but getting a new OS.
V

hi vijay555
i tried installing different ROM, 2003SE, windows2005, but its still the same. the flight mode signal automaticaly turn-off at 30% because the battery has not enough power to stay it on. before my battery doesnt have this kind of problem. Anyway thanks for your reply.

What i think is the 30% battery on my XDA 2 is actually just around 10% thats why the battery cannot stay open my flight mode or the network signal. Thats why is there a setting in the registry about battery meter? thanks

Battery drain

Trying to figure out 1) cause of battery drain and 2) poor power mgmt.
I had a fully charged phone yesterday at 5pm, leaving work.
When I tried to turn it on this morning it was completely, completely drained.
I have 4min timeouts set on the phone for backlight off, and 5min for device off when on battery. I had WiFi tuned off, Bluetooth on.
I did have Wayfinder and GPS active on the way home, and may have just turned off the phone. If I turn off the phone with Wayfinder active, would this continue to drain the battery, GPS reception is passive, is it not ???
How come the battery drained to such an exent, it took 5 min on a charger before it would even power up, from a full reset and WM load.
My old XDA would hibernate at low battery percentage, and still have a reserve charge to keep the phone content/settings intact.
Any views, suggestions.
Peter
When I first got my x1 end of last year, I found I only got around 6 hours out of a battery.
Now I get about 36 hours of normal use out of one charge. Including 1 hour of gps each day/ half hour of wifi.
What worked for me was to, reduce back light time to 10 seconds when standalone. I also found S2U unlock drained the battery, so I now use the standard unlock.
Also, ensure that no auto updates (only manual) are done e.g SPB weather, insight RSS etc.
I have also changed my battery to a Mugen 1800 mAh. This seems to have increased my time by around 25% on average use.
S2U2 no longer drains my battery, one of the old versions did and so did the old version of AE Button but they are both good now, I get min of 2 days and max of about 5 depending on load of use... normal use is about 3... (internet for emails and dling rss feeds and some reading of forums 1 hour, reading books/texts about 4-5 hours and listening about 2hours plus calls and texts is a normal day for me...)
GPS does drain your battery pretty quick though...

There is no poor power management in there.
It is all because of wayfinder. GPS is still active if you leave Wayfinder active all the time and it will drain the battery supoerfat.
Try closing Wayfinder and you will what I am talking about.
I found out that any Battery applications greatly reduces my (juridically - my wife's) X1i lifetime.
AFAIK to measure any battery charge you need to short circuit it for a millisecond or so and measure the current, not the voltage. When any Battery software does it (through the hardware) every few seconds your battery looses its charge faster.

I am running Home++ and its fairly decent as far as drain goes... I dont notice much more than when its not running...
Tks for all your feedback.
I am fairly ok with normal use and battery life.
In this particular instance the drain happened so fast, overnight, and I was not using the X1 at all. (or so I thought so).
So I am curious to know what caused the rapid drain, and why the X1 does not have a more controlled low power close down.

I have already explained. It was the GPS application that drained the battery, nothing else.
Just as a test try leaving it for as few hours running again and you will see.
battery drain
I do have the same effect. but I do not use GPS or wifi at all.
Sometimes it put the phone down, screen disabled and fully charged. No application running.
Next morning the battery is dead.
It happens about once every two weeks without any sign why...
My solution: I bought a desktop charger which is able to charge a second battery and simply exchange it, when this happens again.
Not ideal - but right now we seem to have to life with it.
do you have an old version of S2U2 or AE Button plus on your phone? And I have also read that batti used to cause drain problems... this might be the case with yours(?) if you have none of these installed then I am of not much help...
If u use Push email or active sync, Google sync Hotmail sync any Email sync on arrivel option ur battery will only last 5hours cause the phone is using mobile web at all times and constantly sending and recieving, turn it off an ur phone will last over 19hours with out charge... EG i turned my email sync off at 10am an the batt level was 60% didnt charge it till next day 11am when the batt levels drop to 20%
Is your X1 fairly new?
I experienced exactly this issue about a week after I bought my X1. No apparent reason for it, but the battery just drained right out overnight.
Strangely, the same thing happend about a week after I bought a HTC Touch Pro.
In both instances it has happened only the one time. Since then things have been normal, or drains caused by known software issues (like the buggy version of S2U2).
As earlier suggested, I loaded the Wayfinder app, with its GPS active.
I tuned off the phone when the app was on screen.
Left it for 3 hours, and there was a noticeable drain of the battery.
Lets hope the new WM 6.5 improves Power Mgmt, and has a more elegant low power handling.
Do you have G-Alarm installed? My Battery gets drained very fast when I have this installed. I tried many different versions within the last few month, allways the same.
I experienced this last night for the first time with my X1. I left the X1 on the bedside table at 11:30 with 90% charge and was awakened by the battery low alarm at 6:30 am (not good).
The only thing that I noticed that was unusual was that my X1 had been connected to the PC with ActiveSync in the connected state. I shut down the PC and then unplugged the X1. In the morning after the battery low alarm I noticed that the phone thought it was still connected. I use SPB Phone Suite and it was still showing the Cradle profile. This would not change in the automatic mode so I had to reboot the phone. Everything has been fine since.
So ... I am wondering if ActiveSync can sometimes go crazy and drain the battery more quickly??
I have a faster draining battery since i installed g-alarm. can anyone confirm that?
In my case I dont have G-Alarm installed.
Well my battery is not draining that seriously. it's ok i guess.
But maybe you should try what is suggested in the last post of this thread:
http://www.xperiax1.net/forum/x1-problems-issues/2113-another-kind-battery-drain.html
Deep discharge my X1-battery just almost doubled my battery life in average

I have been using G-Alarm since the very moment I got my X1 and there is no noticeable battery drain. Lasts 3-4days.

Battery decreases about 30% after standby about 10 hrs

After standby about 10 hours, my HD2's battery decreases from 100% to 71%.
Is this normal? Or I should get a battery replacement?
I'm using the 1.48 WWE ROM.
There's already a thread discussing that exact thing...

Join in there.
with a bit of research in these forums you can find your answer and ways to make your battery last longer...
mine lasts more than 2.5 days with a single charge and normal use.
i have disabled 3G and data connections -when i dont need them- and i use flight mode during the night..
oh! and as johncmolyneux said, a bit of search never harmed anyone eh?!
Thanks for the information.
djngal,
What is ROM you're using? I always disable data connections when not use, turn on Power Saving. But overnight the battery is drained 30% .
And are you using G-Alarm? I doubt that G-Alarm causes this problem.

im using the stock 1.48 WWE and im also using g-alarm because it helps to put the phone out of flight mode in the morning and its also a great alarm compared to the buggy win alarm
during the night with flight mode on, mine consumes around 5% of the battery. i would suggest to try for a couple of days to use nodata app that it can be found on this forum, leave the phone on 2G so virtually using it only for calls as u would use a non smartphone ( ) and see how battery holds on. it should hold for 2 days with minimal settings like that...
i suspect that your reception might not be good at your home and the phone struggles to hold a 3G data connection therefore draining your battery..
if everything else fails, hard reset, leave the phone for a few days without any software installed and inspect the battery..
for me, a problematic battery would be the last place i would look...
i also think there are some apps that you can monitor your battery usage and which apps are consuming it, although i have never used it so i cant help u further with that...
good luck with troubleshooting and dont panic

Many thanks for the suggestions, much appreciative.
So I think G-Alarm has nothing to to with the battery life in this case.
I'm using NoData, and I always use 2G because in my country 3G is not fully supported. I'll try to turn on Flight mode.

Battery Drain is Broken ????

1st of all excuse me for my bad english.
I have a big problem with my N1 after a full charge in 4 hour and NO USE i have 32% of battery.
In 2 more hours i have no battery and request cable to charge and than shout-off-
I try different radio and rom and kernel
I wipe battery stat.
No way.
What i can try and if i need spare parts or service for my phone from USA and i'm in italy ??
Thanks.
Is your phone getting hot? I'm pretty sure, and it sounds like you agree, that this can't be a software problem.
Maybe bad battery? Is it a new N1? Any damage? Drops?
If your phone is getting warm it is most likely a software problem. Sounds like you just have a bad app in the background that won't stop, and it is running your CPU constantly.
Download a task manager (not for the auto-kill, auto-kill is bad) but use it to see if there is any app that is constantly using up your CPU.
Also download Spare Parts and check the battery history and see if anything is high on the "partial wake" screen.
i try 4 different rom, 2 radio e 3 kernel.
No changes
The phone never fall from my hand.
Yesterday i put in a LeoFroyo and just full charge and boot this morning 6:00 at 10:00 i have 40% of battery.
RMA ?
Ok yeah, sounds like a bad battery then, or worse.
Some news here.
I bought a new and original battery for N1 from HTC.
No solve the problem.
I fully charge battery and in 12 H is drained (also Time and Date reset).
I fully charge the battery and leave it out of the phone and NO DRAIN
I fully charge and put in the phone POWER OFF and is drained (cannot say in how many hours).
So the strange and new things are
1) Drain with the Nexus power off
2) No a battery problem
3) Reset time and date after drain
What can use battery in the phone when is power-off ?????
I write at HTC USA and Italy but they dot answer nothing. (2 weeks ago USA 1 week Ita) It's normal this delay ?
Actually powered off? Or do you just turn the screen off? Do you press and hold on the power button, then choose "Power off"?
12H is pretty good for the battery, considering it sounds like you have auto-updating things and use it a lot. If it is draining in 12H when you don't use it, you probably have installed an app that is misbehaving.
if you are losing battery power when the phone is off then this is a phone problem

SGS 9000 battery only holds 5 hours of change in standby

Hi there,
I have had my SGS since Sept 2010, and have had no problems. A few days ago, the battery standby time dropped from a few days to 5 hours (and this was in flight mode). With the 2G phone on, and 3g/wireless/gps off, the standby was about 3 hours.
I removed the battery, and the put it back in, and let the 'phone charge whilst turned off.
Is there a way to mend this? Where does the problem lie?
Cheers, Peter.

might be due to a new software you just installed or upgraded.
Install some free tool to do the monitoring and confirm which application partially awake or prevent your phone to go to sleep mode.
Try System info
Exactly the same problem with me, I'm pretty sore the cause is update or app.
This is not the case. no new programmes were installed.
I noticed that when the phone is ON and charging the indicator states it is e.g 30% charged. I remove the battery charger, and the indicator states that the phone is empty and has to shut down.
Huge Battery drain post on this very forum worth reading .
But i would hazard a guess with a sudden drop its a dying battery .
jje
I had the same problem with u, i think u should back up your phone's data then use "Factory data reset" feature. I did that and everything's OK
SOLVED
Indeed, I did a factory reset and the problem went away. Battery life returned to normal.
Thank-you for your advice.

My battery life was amazing when i bought the phone lasted like 2 days

and rite now i'm charging the phone again dont know whats wrong with it.
(It doesn't overheat or anything just loses battery.)
Will appreciate if someone can help troubleshoot this issue.

First of allI would say that your active GPS is a high battery drain so I would turn it of and see again if the battery drain is still that high.
Thnx turned off GPS and restarted phone now it's fine 85% from 100% in five hours with moderate use.
So is my GPS app is faulty?
I use maps a lot so how do I keep my GPS on but without this issue, my GPS was on from purchasing time but nothing like this happened.
Hoping for a permanent fix.
Once again appreciate the prompt help.

it's hard to answer your question without any other details. do you use any widgets? any apps that might cause waking of the device? use apps that could show the wakelocks during deep sleep
I use the s health, the clock and calender and the track id however I went back to the store even after reset the issue was there They said I can change the fone but didn't have the black color ( white to me looks tacky) so I got the m8 instead. Thnx for the help.

change location service mode to power saving when not using maps, change to gps only when you need. Turn off bluetooth and wifi tethering. Switch to HSPA when you're using map because you don't need lte speed.
