Think you should have a "Download" option in the notification area. Or goto MMS options and select to download automatically. Although I then have to manually 'disconnect' my GPRS 3G connection!
I had a prob when with Vodafone as i had to phone them and check that that had GPRS enabled on my number!!! So have the icon saying I had a message, but I couldn't download it lol

hey. my friend has a verizon 6700. when he receives a picture message it brings up a log in window and tells him he needs to sign into the verizon wireless data network. if he's connected thru wifi it will try to go to the picture but it fails. is there any way to fix this? i was thinking perhaps it was some sort of verizon MMS settings that needed to be added into the connections setting.

Yes it is verizons settings . Same issue with sprint . Some times they try and tell you that you must get the internet package to see pictures. You may have to go thru quiet a few represenatives to get someone to get it working correctly for you. I have seen this issue with both services .
So good luck. I haven't seen the manual setting anywhere if I come across them I will gladly post them for you.
also make sure he has a pic msg plan some of the old msg plans were only text msg

Another good point.
I'm on t-mobile and when i get sent a mms it comes up as a text message instead of showing the picture straight away. Are my settings wrong or something? Please help. Btw its an unlocked x1i if that makes any difference.
MMS & SMS are now almost always combined so MMS show like this, just click on the Pic/music note link to see the entire contents.
Oh it's all good now...i just needed to send a picture message myself first.

Could be, that your MMS-configuration is wrong.
When you open up the messaging centre, then open the SMS/MMS message folder you can press MENU on the right bottom of the screen an chose MMS-options.
There you can set the server for the messages, you should verify it with the configuration you get from your network operator.
if not, try to get the operator to push the settings to you may help
I am having trouble texting mesages with picture attachments and I cannot receive them. My friend texted me a 123kb size picture. When I press download it says downloading but it never finishes or even starts. I tried texting myself a pic and it won't even send it (it just says sending forever). I am running 2.3.1 (I think) so can I fix this with an update or is this problem a result of something else.
I'm not quite sure if there is an update that fixes that. But I know that there is a option in your stock SMS that auto retrieves pic msgs. Make sure that's checked. And make sure your getting data connection (signal bar should be green)
Disclaimer: not a tech genius just putting in my two cents. Hope it helps a little.

must be something wrong with your MMS settings. MMS has always worked for me on every version 2.3 up to 2.3.3.
Has your account been enabled for MMS?
I have unlimited texting on my t-mobile account. On my old phone (non smartphone) I would send and receive pics with now problems whatsoever.
I chacked the setting to my sms and I have the auto retrive messages checked. I don't see anything that says auto retrieve mms or anything like that. I have 2 green bars of signal and tried sending the pics and it still doesn't send or receive. This is frustrating.
nevermind, problem solved--I did not have data enabled or access points set.

Are you by chance using Ad Block? If so, that is most likely your issue. Try removing it and search for Ad-away. That seems to work fine without the annoying mms issue.
