Hi,
My prophet's (M600) alarm keeps on going off when I reset the device. There is no notification and no ways to stop it. I have to mute the device for an hour or so, then it "forgets" about it. Any idea why this happened and any ways to stop it apart from hard resetting?
Thanks in advance
Hi,which alarm ? Alarm clock ?
Yes, I think it is the alrm clock. As I said there is no notification saying what alarm it is, but it is the same sound as I used for Alarm clock to wake up in the morning.
Thanks
Maybe a scheduled task registered every day no ?
No. Infact there is no alarm set now. I dont even use it to wake up in the morning. I have turned off the alarm. Still it starts after a soft reset.
Thanks for reply
Do you use a plug today in your today screen ? Next message in pm.
The problem will be a notification in the notify queue that should not be there. For a calendar reminder it will be a calendar.exe notification. Use the attached program to check the notification queue - find the one and delete. For the alarm notification - turn off alarm and check the queue and delete any clock.exe notifications which is the one for alarms. Also goto options/settings and tick both boxes and check for duplicate notifications which will be marked in red - delete those. Do not delete the other notifications they are needed for the normal running of the device.
Activesync your device and run exe from pc.
Thanks for the reply. I tried this using memaid. But no cure. So, I had to hard reset my device. Thanks anyway

hey, I was having the same problem - and it worked! MemMaid will open the notificaiton queue; from there, I had to look for any "CLOCK.EXE" type notification - I found several that were set for daily alarms, even though they never rang (and I don't remember setting them.) Deleting them did the trick!
THANKS!
help please
So it gets rid of the notifications.
but if i want to use the windows alarm, why does it not show up on the screen when the alarm is going off? I want to be able to snooze.
should i just use a 3rd party alarm?
Worked for me
Yep that program worked for me to. only problem was i had so many clock.exe in the list and you can only select one at a time and it takes its time. but still quicker that reseting my phone up after a hard reset.
cheers
I had the same problems as others listed on here and so I am trying this fix. During the fix I noticed a lot of "null" applications.
What do all the "null" lines mean?
Example: Application - Null
Notify type - CNT_TIME
Event Status - Active
Event Type - NONE
Arguments - (none)
Thanks
MemMaid worked for me too
Hello,
I had the same problem, every notifications didn't display.
I installed DinarSoft MemMaid v2.3, in the QuickClean tab I checked the 4 Notifications-related lines and I performed the cleaning process.
Then a soft reset with the stylus & the small button next to the usb connector.
And then : no more orange led flashes, no more unwanted alarm sounds. And I can use the alarm or calendar notifications again. It works.
Thank you for your posts.

I have a strange issue with Alarm/Notifications in WM5
I had set an alarm using the built-in clock/alram app. Normally when the alarm rinds, there's a dismiss option in the soft buttons in WM5. This is how it has been working for a while.
Strangely, two days ago, the alarm rang but there was no dismiss option... there was no way for me to snooze or dismiss the alarm. I muted my phone and after a while un-muted it and the alarm was gone. Then i went to the alarm app and disabled the alarm.
The same day, i set up an appointment in calendar. When the appointment nitification came on, the sound was played but again, the dismiss option was nowhere to be seen. I couldnt snooze this alarm either.
Now this is one issue, the main annoying issue is that whenever i soft-reset my phone, these two ghost alarms (the original alarm which does not exist anymore, AND the notification for that entry in my calendar which i couldnt snooze, because the option was not displayed) they start sounding as my phone is half way rebooting... And there's nothing i can do to dismis or snooze them.
Any idea? any help will be appreciated. thanks!
I have exactly the same problem. I have set an alarm using the built in Clock & Alarm app in WM5 and could not dismiss it when it came up. Since then, whenever I do a soft reset, the alarm starts up while the device is booting. The annoying part is that it was set to repeating alarm and that's exactly what it does after each soft reset. It repeats less and less frequently and eventually it doesn't repeat any more, but there is nothing I can do to turn it off. I have tried resetting all the options in the Clock & Alarm app but still no luck. I have tried removing the Alarm events in the Notification queue, but they keep coming back after each soft reset.
Has anyone experienced this before, and found a solution to it?
BTW I'm using i-mate JASJAR, but this post describes exactly my symptoms.
I've done some further investigation, and I found a couple of entries in the Registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Shell\Reminders\ that match the description and time I have set up originally for the alarms that keep sounding after every soft reset.
I have tried deleting the entries in the Registry, but after another soft reset, the entries are back! How can I get rid of these for good?
It looks like I've solved the problem...
1. I have deleted the entries from the Registry using Resco Registry Editor that matched the Alarm descriptions that I originally set for the alarms that later kept coming back...
AND
2. I have deleted the clock.exe notifications from the list using Check Notifications from ScaryBear Software.
Once I rebooted, the notifications didn't reappear, the registry entries didn't come back, and most importantly, the ghost alarms didn't go off again!
I have tried both 1 and 2 above before individually between resets, but not both together. When I only did one or the other, both the notifications entries and the registry entries came back after the reset, causing the ghost alarm to keep running after each reset.
I hope this will help anyone else who gets into the same situation.
Thank you very much!
It worked, the alarm was driving me nuts!
Hello,
I have just bought the new ATOM Exec and I have to say that this is a great machine... however, I am having troubles with the reminders / alarms.
Every morning at 08:30 I got a reminder box poping saying "alarm: no description". I have checked my time settings and no alarm is activates (even if the O2 media Plus)..... Does anyone know how I could get rid of it ?
Thanks,
Greg

You have somethign "stuck" in your notification queue.
Load some software to look at the notification queue.. MemMaid is good.
You'll be able to see the notification queue and be able to work out which ones are the "stuck" alarms.
Don't just delete notifications because you don't know what they are though...
Also search other forums, there are a lot of posts about this (especially for the wizard)

Hi and thanks for your reply. I have installed memmaid and could see these alarms in the notification queue.... there were 4 or windows/clock.exe at 8:30am..... however, even if I can delete these entries, they keep on returning every time I do a soft reset..... any ideas on how to get rid of that ?
Thanks.

They keep returning .. wierd...
Firstly go in to Alarms and disable all the ones you have in there.
Then go into memmaid and check for duplicates first .. delete these duplicates .. then delete ALL alarms again.
Soft reset... hopefully they won't be there.
If they are then I have no idea ... sorry.

I have the following problem and am cutious if anybody has the same problem and eventually found solutions?
Sometimes I get multiple reminders for the same alarm. This does not happen for alarms from calender. I get this only from alarms which have been set by the Clocks and Alarms menu. When the time comes it gives me multiple reminders. Sometimes up to five and I nedd to press 5 times Dismiss.
Does nobody have a solution. Is it something to do with the notification queue????. How can I access this qued notification?
i like it this way! this way i will WAKE UP instead of falling back to sleep
you can choose the number of reminders / time between reminders from the settings,
I don't use it though I use pocket music player and Megasoft Pocket Clock
I'm currently getting the same alram non stop with no dismiss option any way tot stop that this is the second time it has happened and the last time I had to hard reset. Fo rnow I have turned off all sounds but still get it vibrating
Any Ideas?
google for Check Notification
to detect any of the 'alerts' that are bugging you and delete them

Click to collapse
Get MemMaid, or Pocket Mechanic, both tools great for sorting out a few problems, one of which is duplicate alarms...
i have a problem with alarms being 1 hour late because the device apears to change its mind about which time zone it's in!
Hello everyone.
When trying to fix my crazy alarm stuck in a loop, I deleted one too many entry from the notification queue. The alarm is gone, but so are appointment notifications. I can see appointments becoming active but no sound or vibration is being triggered.
Can anyone enlighten me what have I deleted and how to restore it?
Cheers!
BTW Happy New Year everyone!
A few more details
If I set any new alarm it will ring/vibrate but no notification is displayed (cannot dismiss). And even if I remove it/them from the notification queue, they will go on and on.
I really don't want to hard reset, and I even don't know if it would help...Help?
I'm not sure, but have you tried running MemMaid or pmClean to rebuild your notifications?
Thanks for head up. Yes, I tried virtually everything. Not enough knowledge. I ended up with upgrading to WM6. All works fine now. That issue will remain a mistery forever
Hi all,
I use to have a bunch of Outlook tasks with notifications to remind me of various things to do.
With my previous phone (HTC P3300), the notifications stayed there (until dismissed) whatever I did: reset the phone, move from an application to another, whatever. In the Today screen I always had the left soft key displaying "Reminder" indicating that I had some notifications active.
In my new HD2 this is not hte case any more. I am glad I am not wasting my left soft key just for the reminders, but the problem is that my notifications keep disappearing: if I reset the phone, they are gone. I got the habit of snoozing them before resetting, but this morning my 4 notifications were gone, even with no reset!
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a workaround? Anyone knows what is purging the notifications?
Ciao,
Giovanni
I want to know this as well.
Also is there a app or a way to change the snooze time? For example, to remind me again in 1 hour, but more important notifications, in 10 min...
Hey, i had (have) the same problem. First of all please report this to HTC cos this is a BIG error. What i did is unable htc notification manager, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631449. That worked for me, also brings back the snooze option. Only problem now that the active reminders dont synx with my exchange or home outlook, but thats something i can live with. Good luck !!
i use the following three reg settings to tweak my notifications.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Shell\Notification\OEM\Reminder
change EnableAutoDismiss from 1 to 0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Shell\Notification\OEM
CustomUIDLL is probably set to NotificationLayout.dll
change it to anything else, (example NotificationLayout2.dll) basically a name that doesnt exist.
UseDefaultUI set to 0
Also, go to settings - menu - all settings - sounds and notifications - notifcations tab - in the dropdown choose 'reminders' and make sure 'show on screen' is checked.
hope these help.
