Well it's definitly there in the German ROM.
Can't make screen shots right now.
First you can see the homezone display as a today plugin which enables itself when you are in the homezone.
And there is a little icon on the upper right side of the dialer screen if you are in your homezone.
Homezones are based on BTAs?
forum.xda-developers.com
There is only one Homezone (but 3 would be cool) with o2 Germany and city zone is still existant in old plans like mine.
But city zone doesn't get displayed but it doesn't get displayed in other UMTS phones either. I'll get a small voice notification when I start a call now.
My cellular phone can show name of city i'm actually in. Is this similair to homezone?

Hello,
i had the same problem some months ago. My solution: I took a application called tdClock (You may download at http://www.freewareppc.com/clock/tdclock.shtml. This Application is a Today-Plugin displaying a Clock at any side of the screen. As Background Immage you can use a self-Made *.bmp-File, which may contain your Provider-Logo.
Okay, it is not Out-of-the-box, but for me it is an very nice solution and the large clock at the today screen is very helpful too.
Hope, that help.
Best Regards from Berlin!
Michael
Hi miwu !
Thanks for your contribution, but what I am looking for is a today plugin which display permanently the provider you are connected too !
I am living in a 3 country borders, if I do not take care, my gsm switch to the international providers easily ! It would be cool to see the provider name on the Top of the today !!!
Any other idea ?
Hi TotoR,
sorry, with the application i described you can only display an image, changes of the Network-Provider will not take any effect (or you have to change the picture everytime you change your provider
The only chance i see is the solution of cam in this thread. Sorry.
Best regards
Michael
Hudson Phone Dashboard does tell you who you are connected to, you can set it up so the only part that stays on the screen is just the network status.

it's part of aku2
but i used the new Qtek Test rom which is supposed to have aku2 but i did not see operator name on screen...?
Try O2 plus or phone Alarm
PhoneToday works for me the best...plus it allows you to automagically switch your phone off in the evening ! (PhoneAlarm still freezes my machine once in a while)
Regards
Dave
Hudson Mobile IP Dashboard and Hudson Mobile Phone Dashboard both are today plug ins which can be configured to give you the name of your mobile service provider in the today screen.

Davejeff: which version of phone today are you using?
Try this, the best

Not free, but the best by far...I use since a year ago and no problems...
FOUND AT LAST>>>
In a different part of the forum, its called o2 plus, version 2.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...days=0&postorder=asc&highlight=o2plus&start=0
it gives other added functionality, but i only want the network operator name bit...
heres a screen pic from xda atom... i'll post my screen soon...
Found at last.... all it needs is some registry keys... look at screen shot from Universal, and its working on my WIzard
Here's the keys:
(thanks to madcapmagician)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Wireless"]
"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004
Dont forget to powercycle, and then gp to Start>Settings>today and put a check in Wireless
And keep in mind that you'll need the new AKU2 ROM. So for those holding off on that for whatever reason - sorry, no gig for you (there's other solutions, of course, like DKToday)

Dude, your Today looks like SO COOL!
What apps do you use?
thats a screen shot from XDA atom... if you want that look, click on the link in the post to download o2 plus vserion 2.0 (cracked)...
yeah.. O2 know their customization stuffs when it comes to the PPC line Blows T-Mobile out of the water (even if T-Mobile does get their cute little T-Mobile Hotspots label instead of the Internet Explorer label on the top-right key).
Shame we have no O2 in NL anymore :\
Their TV adverts were always gorgeous as well
My old cellular phone Ericcson R600 is ale to display name of the City I'm actually in.
I would like to have the same on today screen in my MDA2.
Is it possible? Is there today plugin which can do that?
That is not possible. The 'City name' is a Cell Broadcast (CB) message sent on CB Chanell 50 - Windows Mobile can receive CB messages, but there is no special handling of specific CB messages.
is it hardware specific (radio ROM) or OS (WM5 ROM)?
It is not impossible, but such plugin is not known (till now).
It's possible to receive broadcasts (like SMS), don't disturb phone user and store information anywhere.
It is possible to retrive stored information and display on the today screen, too.
I was thinking about this plugin, but time... May be in january ...
actually, pocketmax's phonealarm plays around with "Location-based information (change profile dependent on current location!)" which I think is similar to what you are looking for: it picks up the CellID signal, but not sure what it translates into. The idea is that when you're at "work" it'll pick up on that cell tower and switch to that profile, but I don't think it gives you the "city name".
It's also an experimental addon that doesn't work on every service.
I don't need profile switching. What I need is ability to show on Today Broadcast messages from specific channels
This is possible but the app would have some problems on newer devices as the BCM messages are ignored if the header is similar (for power consumption reasons) so if you would stop the app and restart it but not switch cells you would get no CBM to retrieve info from...
But for XDA2/2i/3 it would work np.
so it's possible but no app? is it possible to write it such plugin in .Net? I don't know C++ well..

Not sure if this will help you. The guy mentions home screen but I havent tried the app myself. Not sure what its compatible with.

http://blogs.msdn.com/frankarr/archive/2006/04/05/568809.aspx

Yeah I did read the thread. But dktoday is supposed to slow down the system. Was wondering if there is something else...
I'm using dktoday with Charmer. I have been using that since. I got the unit and it is not slowing down my phone. Charmer and Wizard is relatively the same hardware other than the WiFi and such.
Anywya, dktoday has the option of displaying lines that you need, e.g., it has 3 lines of information, you can have the choice of which line to be displayed. Try that, may speed things up for you.
UPDATE: Ok, I take my words back. dkToday DOES slow your unit down (e.g. the Today screen). Ever since I read this post, I'm trying to 'sense' the effect of dkToday. I had PocketBreeze installed and the 'slow' item on my Today screen is the PBreeze, which I presume it is because it is a heavy item. However, to my surprise, the dkToday seems to be the one causing the PBreeze (probably not just Pb, but all Today plugins). Since I had this program from the first day I had my unit, it doesn't occur to me that it is this that causes the unit to slow down (as many had complain about the slowness of OMAP processor).
Hi there everyone,
I have a HTC touch diamond P3700 and I'm using the original weather panel from the HTC. lately I have noticed that although I get an update on my weather regularly, but the icon does not match the reality.
for example, at 9:00 pm it still shows Sunny and at a rainy day it shows sunny but partly cloudy (and it was pouring outside).
What should I do to take care of this problem?
Thanks
one more question - how to update weather tab throught proxy when connected with pc (usb)?
Hawes380 weather tab use accuweather.com.
Just look at the web site and if there is the same predictions... this is accuweather who don't tell the exact weather...
It's an american group so if they don't know exactly that in Clermont ferrand, there is rain...
If the data between Touchflow's tab and accuweather is different... there's a little problem maybe...
For the second question patr!k i don't know... sorry.

Thank you , i will look at the aacuweather.com to see if there is any discrepancy.
Another problem, it doesn't update while away from the WLAN even though update while roaming is enabled. The GPRS connection works in IE, Mail and so on. Any solution?
Hi all , something to brighten up a dull February day for you all
After listening to my daughter moan about some bullies texting her all day and night again and again ,I knocked up a little app to get back at them
Its call *****_txt and is simple
Enter the number , the message, then when you want it to start dropping it's payload
then set the interval in minutes how many texts in each drop and how many times to drop the payload.
http://www.beady.com/*****_txt.jpg
works a treat the victim's phone will slow right down recieving the texts
and depending on the phone fills every bit of SMS memory
The interval is for proper annoyance purposes , so when they thing it's stopped it hasn't
The delay timer is good for waking them up early in the morning
It works, my little offspring never gets those bully texts any more.
WARNING , it is possible to send 1000's of texts very easlily with this program be sure you have unlimited texts available or the laugh is on you.
Its tested on a T-mobile diamond and a orange diamond I haven't access to anything else.
the limits on sending speed are just guesses , it might go faster but i wondered if the network providers may stop it if it was too fast.
any ideas are gladly recieved to improve ( they will be filed in the time/money ratio todo list) and if anyone wants the code , just ask.
and there is no warranty etc etc etc, and use with adult discretion , I know you will.
yes I know its not attached to the first post ... just checking you where awake

lol nice app, suerly gonna try it on some1
can i get your number?
hehe nice.
this plus bt spammer wow, the ultimate anti-bully tools.
thanx!
This is SMS Bomber had this for PC never thought i would see it on a phone Some networks block SMS spam great fun thanks so much cool little app
whats really gonna be funny is when your daughter's "bullies" get a hold of your little program....backfire??
gotta try this also! seems more complete than sms nuke! thanks!
Does not seem to want to work on my Tilt (kaiser) says incorrect number, i have tried adding and removing country codes. But looks good, I always mess with my friend (in a nice way) making his phone do funny things so this would add to the fun.
Works well, funny app, will have hours of fun with it lol and when are they going to finish the work on the Cobbles in town
There is already an application like that, called bassel's sms i think.
But nice idea.
Not a bad idea, could be improved by sending class0 sms
Might not be so funny if the recipients report the abuse to their network/ police
2 wrongs dont make a right etc etc
not that I agree with her being bullied in the first place
works in the u.s.?
hey man
it looks good
but can't get it to work in the u.s.
says that number is incorrect
any thoughts on a fix?

If these could be sent as class 0, It'd have my download. But right now this is somewhat similar to baselSMSer haha
Nice!
Don't wanna be paying 1 grand ++ though..
Make it little batter, add more features like range of recipient numbers etc. and commercialize it...
I am doing it from ages, i am providing web, desktop & smart phone (WM, Symbian, Java) solutions for sms advertisement and stuff, and i like to flood my friends inboxs too
removed number error checking,
now any length of number will work, but it will still remove any non digit characters so use 0044 for international instead of +44

Hi Pawaa,
Nice job, there is a bit more in yours,
*****_txt was just a two hour play on VS2005 to help my daughter , and I hadn't played with SMS on mobiles except on my old Nokia 7110 to control my house , but that was years ago.
