Hi all
Apologies if duplicate thread as i have checked as much as I could for it.
I have recently changed over to T-Mobile UK MDA Compact from XDA II.
What I want to know is has anyone used the Compact with TomTom 3? If so, can you please tell me how u got it to work.
Also, is there any way of upgrading the RAM from 64Mb.
One more thing how do you get rid of all the generic T-Mobile stuff that comes pre-installed. I amd having difficulties getting rid of the GPRS Monitor.
Any help with this greatly appreciated.
THANKS IN ADVANCE
I used the setup on the CD and it installed like any other application. Worked great, and now I am using TomTom 5, which also works well.
I've got tom Tom 3 on my MDA Compact working with a bluetooth Fortuna Clip On GPS Receiver.
I found that you had to upgrade the GPS drivers from 2.06 or 2.07 (which came with my Tom Tom software) to 3.07 as these are the only ones that work with WM2003 SE. You can download them from the Tom Tom website.
Cheers

thank you all. I've finally managed to get it working.
Discovered the problem was with my laptop rather then anything to d with the MDA Compact or TomTom.
Thanks all
I have been told that the M5000 is not supported by tom tom. i have a mate though that says he know a few people that have managed to get it working on their SPV m5000 or XDA Exec's. Can anyone help - it was a big reason for moving from blackberry and I'm gutted I didn't go for the M2000 instead for that reason (even though I would loose the wireless ability).
you nead v5.21. I have it running on my m5000.
you have to install each cab file inturn.
see here for full details of install

Any advice to make it work, or i have to downgrade to WM5
I have make all backup before upgrade to WM6.
In addiiton, If i wanna downgrade in order to using Tomtom 6, What should i Do? Just run the back up or do i have to run upgrade ( with WM5) agian to downgrade it.
What is the risk for doing that?
Thanks

To be honest, I'm not sure what you are talking about. For starters there's no problem with TomTom 6 on WM6, it works fine, and even if there were a problem you could only take your Exec back to WM5, as there is no WM2003 ROM for the Exec.
If you are having problems installing TomTom 6, then a bit more info as to what the symptoms of the problem are would be helpful to diagnose the fault, and come up with a solution.
Cheers,
Steve.

TT3, TT5 & TT6 work fine on my WM6 exec... Are you dure you have the right version? The Smartphone one is NOT the one you want. You want the PDA version.

Just curious, why do you need the Home application to see it?
So that I can use Mapshare and update them.
What is the most reliable Sat Nav software for MDA Vario II? I have been looking at Garmin Mobile XT or Co-Pilot 7
Just wondered about any reccomendations?
Any comments would be much appreciated
people report various success with different software depending on where they are in the world for map covering and updates
fair point, well I'm in the UK so does anyone know the best ones for UK coverage?
Thanks
I'm in the UK and use Tom Tom on my Touch Diamond, it works really well. Have only just got myself a Hermes (£25) so have yet to try any sat nav software on, yet.....
TomTom
I've used TomTom software on all the following devices with excellent results:
- SPV M500 (Magician)
- SPV M3100 (Hermes)
- HTC Touch HD (Blackstone)
IGO 7 works like charm on my hermes.
Cheers
what version of Tom Tom is reccomended? I have Windows Mobile 6
Thanks
The Tomtom ripped from the tytn II is OK, Tomtom 7. You do need to purchase the maps though...
Can anyone confirm that TomTom 6 works on the Hermes?
or what is the best version to run and why?
Thanks
I can confirm both tomtom 6 & tomtom 7 both work fine on hermes.
For tomtom 7 you can get the more recent maps, but it requires more ram to run. When I was running a m2d rom I had tomtom 7 close randomly on me a few times. No problems if you have more than about 15MB ram free though.
I like Tomtom 7, have no problem running it on my Jasjam... As I said though, you need to purchase the maps. The best things in life don't always come for free...
