Was wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction to a remote desktop feature like LogMeIn?
Tried using the Universal to get to LogMeIn but wouldn't work on either IE or Opera.
Have you tried Terminal Services? It's built in...
If you do, have a look for my VJFullscreenTSC.

Thanks Vijay....
I'll give it a shot
Logmein works fine for a lot of people, including myself...what problems are you having?

If you did the registry hack that makes pocket IE report that it's a desktop browser, LogMeIn will not recognize your device properly when you attempt to sign in. Make sure PIE is set to all defaults, log in to logmein.com and it should tell you to install a small file called RACtrl.cab From there on out, everything should work great. Good luck!

hi i have got logmein account and everything works just fine. just one question how can i connet to logmein using terminal services or maybe other app ??? cheers, cudp
Great one
z2r2pc is a great remote access software it has excellent file transfer too.
mbial
Thanks for the suggestion. It works. Setting PIE to default took care of the issue.
Some more info concerning LogMeIn on PPC browsers:
Netfront 3.3 -
Will not show Remote Desktop. However, will allow you to transfer files to and from PDA if you have LogMeIn Pro.
Opera 8.6 -
Remote Desktop will not display when you set the Opera browser as Desktop and not Handheld Device.
Setting up as Handheld Device will have LogMeIn Prompt you over and over again to install their software - hence, it will not work.
As for z2r2pc. since you have to pay for it, I'm not going for it.

ehabh - Thanks for the suggestion. If LogMeIn decides to get rid of its free version, I might just go that route.
hi, is there a way to connect to logmein through terminal services client and if not how do i configure it? cheers

Hi Guys sorry to bother you again. Any App to control Winamp from your JAM (next track coulme....) or to control your PC from the PPC
Thanks in advance
Pebbles can be used to control your PC from your PPC via Bluetooth. It's freeware and works quite well.
thanks for your reply please can u post the link to the software. thanks in advance
Pebble
I'm making my own kinda thing like this as well. Should work on any device with a net connection (HTML based interface). Quite some way to go yet, but I'll keep you informed.
Any particular functionality anyone would want in a program that would allow you to control your pc remotely? It won't display the remote screen (although it'll probably show screenshots) but you'll be able to knock up interfaces to control volume, launch apps, close apps etc.
This is not mine, but what I have in mind

RemoteAmp
thanks thanks thanks a lot for you guys for your suggestions and vijay555
I will be waiting for your app to finish .
One more thing my Feedback for Pebbles is EXCELLENt this program is fantastic you can control your pc and all application. As for RemoteAmp 2.0I guess it is the perfect program to control Winamp and I am happy with it since pebbles is a little bit difficult just to control Winamp but on a brighter note you can control your whole PC. Thanks again for your guys.
PuppetMaster. Works on WM as well as on almost any java compatible mobile.

Hi.
I def. agree with you. RemoteAmp is by far the best WM-client for remote controlling Winamp I have ever seen.
But isnt there an enqueue-function? I have a HTC HD2, and can't seem to find one...??
I'm kinda curious which programs you got installed on your Wizard.
I'd thought it would be nice to exchange our experiences here.
I'll go first
SBSH PocketBreeze v5
Adds alot of the functions of your phone directly on your Today screen, like your agenda, tasks, notes, messages and you can add other functions like pcoket msn, tomtom, etc aswell.
Works very well!
TranCreative Magic Button
A taskmanager which adds the ability to add programs you're running to your startbar, close single or all running programs and some other nice features.
Has a few problems with closing down active sync and call application.
ScaryBear Software Check Notifications
Cleans up duplicate entries in the database of your phone to increase performance.
Can't life without it
C. Ghrisler & Co. Total Commander
Alternative file explorer which supports registery editing and much more!
Good alternative to the build in file explorer
TCPMP The Core Pocket Media Player
Mediaplayer which support almost every type of media file there is, runs very smoothly and very stable.
Can't life without it
TomTom Navigator 5
Navigation software for PDA, but works well on your Wizard. Support traffice, weather and much more (extra services).
A pain to get it installed on your Wizard, but when it works you don't want anything else. Running v5.21 now.
Worms PPC
Do I need to say more...
Still looking for a better taskmanager and a snes emulator optimized for the Wizard.
...
So, what are you using?
Have you tried SmallMenu? Works great on the Universal, should work fine on the Wizard.
It's a task manager and launcher in one. Commercial or free versions available. Wish I'd written it!

Tnx I'll check it out.
Trying out PocketPlus now, working great now. But it's a trial version.
Pocket plus 3
i have installed Spb Pocket Plus v3 on my new Wizard. it installs fine until i soft reset it then the dam thing would start it just hangs on the deadly o2 screen.
Has anyone had this problems. how do i sort thing out without uninstalling it.
I've been fantasising about getting a Universal for sometime but I dont want to ditch my BA. As I don't see it as being that much of an upgrade to warrant paying & hassle of arguing with O2.
However, I'm on-call for my company and was wondering what the quality of VNC over 3G was like?
Has anyone tried this and is it practical?
.: bump :.
Not sure about over 3G but can imagine it's roughly comparable with normal VNC over broadband. Also depends what version of VNC you use on the exec as there are a couple.
Over wifi on the exec it's pretty good, though I've found that logmein.com is a far better solution - if such an option is open to you. Also found that dynamicdns.com is meant to be good, and allows you just to RDP onto installed terminals.
If none of these are applicable, then VNC on the Exec is just as good/poor as desktop equivalents.
Cheers

Thank gawd Citrix released the latest WM 5.0 compatable version of GoToMyPc Pocket View so now I can remote into my desktop using my handset. GoToMyPC PocketView allows pda owners with a gotomypc subscription to access amd work on any registered machine remotely.
If security is an issue it uses an SSL-encrypted Web site and end-to-end AES 128-bit encryption of the data stream and chat as well as keyboard and mouse input; multiple passwords, including an access code that resides on the host computer and is never transmitted or stored on GoToMyPC servers; and notification when the PC is accessed.
Because the o2 XDA Exec has a 640 x 480 touchscreen and UMTS (3G) capacity it makes life a whole load easier using PocketView than on previous pdas. UMTS has a theoretical speed of 384 kbs so any refresh delay is hardly noticible especially combined with the fact that the software itself pixel refreshes.
Here's a couple of images of it in action!

They seem like the perfect combination for those who intensively work remotely who insist on not having to drag a laptop around with them.
Thats settled then - I'm getting one.
Also what mount are you using in the car?
Brodit Active!
www.dsldevelopments.com are a good supplier (I know the owner and bought the Exec cradle from him)

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet! now that's a mobile office
hi all
Recently got an M700 and am loving it. Since discovering this place I've been amazed at what customisations you can do, and with flashing to WM6 using AX3L's fantastic ROM, getting TomTom6 working, and a few choice other apps to allow FTP etc., i've now got a device that does pretty much everything I could ask of it anywhere! (Probably matter of time till I brick it though...).
What I am missing though, is a decent VNC client (although I've used the RDP client semi-successfully).
I've searched for 'VNC' but no joy - surely that can't be the case when there's so much other stuff available? or is the search function not liking the term...?
thanks for a great forum & resource
Did you see the posts re zoomVNC on PocketPC Thoughts? Looks nice!

i have now
thanks - looks excellent
i guess there's others out there i couldn't search for too!
For me the best is PTPocketOffice.
It was recommended by Menneisyys:
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1572&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
It consumes a lot less data than the others VNC.
It's fast.
It has fullscreen.
It can be used one handed.
The server side can resample the pictures to make it smaller (less data and better image than if it was done by client side).
The only minor thing I'd like to see improved is their proprietary softkeyboard. why not using the system keyboard? I don't want to use a new keyboard with each of my apps...
that's a great article
i hadn't thought to even try logmein until reading it there, i'd assumed that with their remote screens always being slightly fuzzy and smaller it mightn't be great - wow, was i wrong!
just tried logging onto a client's SBS server and the screen scaling and rotation together make it nearly as useable as a standard desktop! the screen scrolling at the side of the screen is a great interface! there'll be occasions where i need VNC, but for know i think I've got a favoured solution
hi.. i was wondering how i would use the remote desktop on my computer with my HD?

anyone ?
Me thinks Vista Home doesn't allow incoming remote desktop connections. Ultimate & Business versions do.
Remote Desktop Connections allows other PCs to connect to your PC and those PC has to have Remote Desktop Clinte installed on them to connect to the desired PC.
I think that this clint is not availble for Windows Mobile phones.
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/...le-remote-desktop-in-windows-xp-home-edition/
To enable remote desktop on a XP Home.
Should be usefull to many people.
i am not familiar with Vista, so the option may be on a different tab or else where. but remote assistance is NOT remote desktop. for reference, here's a shot of windows XP. But i blieve milan_ns is right. Vista Home doesn't have this feature. just like XP Home doesn't have this feature. only the "Pro" version of the windows have it. I guess in Vista's case it's Business or Ultimate.
and to the earlier poster (wail_gsm) who said client is not available for windows mobile, please do not guess. obviously you do not have a touch hd in hand. remote desktop'ing on HD's big screen is awesome.
What Version of Vista
What version of Vista are you running.. if you are not using Vista Business or Vista Ultimate... you cannot RDP to the computer as all other versions have cut out this functionality...
has anyone tried logmein?
