I am developing my own LAP to protect my device. One of the functions I want to implement is a hardware lock.
I can now reset all my data and lock my SIM card but I would like to go further and lock my device.
Is there anyway to do it with HTC devices?

Some exports from cellcore caught my eye, the main one being "SimSetLockingStatus"
I am unsure to whether or not that is related to the sims locks (pin1/pin2) or the phone lock.
Looking at MSDN doesnt clear it up either!

All my previous phones had this feature. I can't seem to find a setting for it on the Blackstone.
Is it possible (on the standard ROM) to have the phone ask for a password only when it detects the SIM card has changed? (and I mean a device lock password, not the PIN for the SIM)
So I gather it can't be done?
Strange since it's a very common feature..
I just had my elf's display damaged beyond repair it is just white with rubish black, no text or message is shown.
Is there any way i can get my files from the phones memory? No prob for the SD but for those on the device memory is that i am worried about.
I have removed the sim there is only a 5-digit device pin. Tried to type in blindly, no effect.
Any suggestions? can i unlock it by typing the device pin from a pc with activesync?

no, i have to unlock the device by typing the device pin on the device first...
this unlock code, do you have to enter it when you remove the sim or also then, when a sim is inserted? if it isn't needed with a sim inside, then why not try that, that way?
i could imagine there is a way to unlock the lock with the right code via terminal and an usb connection, but don't ask me, i have no idea about that atm. might be a far catch here...

Talking about the screen, is it a touchscreen problem, or your whole LCD is cracked?
Hello. I was recently given another sim card by my carrier because the old one kept losing signal due to tear & use. This one has the annoying default pin and every time I restart my phone I have to enter it. On my 6.5.5 ROM, I'm unable to find the security settings for this in order to be able to change that pin or disable the request. Any ideas for this?

If all else fails, remove the pin from your simcard? In my case it's not such a big deal, since it's a datasim with unlimited data only. So if they manage to get a hold of it, it cannot cause huge costs.

You mean the APN settings? It's in the same menu as the vpn and hotspot settings.
Did you manage to turn of the pin at startup through the engineers menu? Could you explain a little bit on this?
