There's nothing preventing you from creating a My Documents folder on your storage card. And the system will see it. You can then choose to save files to your storage card in many apps, though they won't be saved directly to \Storage Card\My Documents on the card unless you opened them from that location.
I don't believe there is a registry hack to allow you to replace the folder on My Device though. But there are smarter folks here than me...
It would also be nice if MS would make it possible for the OS and Apps to better handle and recognize directory structures more than one level deep. But that's fodder for another topic.
G'Luck
Here is what worked for me
I did the following:
1. Create a subfolder called "My Documents" in your Storage Card folder.
2. Copy the contents of \My Documents to \Storage Card\My Documents
3. Delete \My Documents
4. Open a text editor and paste the following text into a new document: 33#"\Storage Card\My Documents"
5. Save this as "My Documents.lnk"
6. Copy this to the root of your WM6 device
There you go -- now you don't have to mess with your registry (unless you want to do more advanced stuff). NOTE: This may cause some programs to not work, so use with caution. For example, I noticed that if I changed my settings in Notes to save to Storage Card before this procedure it would no longer open. I think if I had left it as save to Main Memory it would automatically use the shortcut and store on the memory stick anyway.

It's a good software of the world but lack of gentleman.
CEO play golf all the time ?
Garmin was designed to run in root folder of memory card (\Storage Card\Garmin). A stupid design from CEO.
Garmin save data files into root folder of your device (\Garmin). A stupid brain of CEO again. So, keep backup these folder before hard reset your device.
Finally, a stupid installer program will copy all files to your memory card and leave them all.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are step by step:
1. Copy all files in folder \Garmin from CD disc or zip file to \Storage Card\Garmin
2. Copy GMXT.CAB to \Storage Card\GMXT and click it to install Garmin Activator.
3. Activate your Garmin software by run \Storage Card\Program files\GMXT ACTIVATOR\GMXT ACTIVATOR.exe (you need internet connection). These license files will be created:
\Storage Card\Garmin\GMAPSUPP.UNL
\Storage Card\Garmin\SW.UNL
4. After completed activation, uninstall Garmin Activator and delete all ****s.
\Storage Card\GMXT\GMXT.CAB
\Storage Card\Program files\GMXT ACTIVATOR\*.*
\Windows\Start Menu\GMXT ACTIVATOR.lnk
5. Make a shortcut to \Storage Card\Garmin\Apps\WM\QuePPC.exe and or map to hardware button1.
6. When run Garmin Moblie XT the first time, the following data files will be created in your device:
\Garmin\gpx\current.gpx
\Garmin\GARMIN.NVM
\Garmin\GARMIN_ARTE.NVM
\Garmin\GARMIN_FLASH.NVM
\Garmin\GARMIN_MDB.NVM
\Garmin\GARMIN_MPM.NVM
\Garmin\GARMIN_TRIP.NVM
\Garmin\GARMIN_WPT.NVM
\Garmin\GarminDevice.xml
7. Files that doesn't need:
\Storage Card\2577\autorun.exe
\Storage Card\2577\GARMINAUTORUN.EXE
\Storage Card\autorun.txt
\Storage Card\Garmin Mobile XT.exe
\Storage Card\GMXT\GMXT.CAB
\Storage Card\Program files\GMXT ACTIVATOR\*.*
\Windows\Start Menu\GMXT ACTIVATOR.lnk
8. Very clean install screen shots:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
9. Now you can backup and restore only these stupid folders:
\Garmin
\Storage Card\Garmin
No need to reinstall or reactivate any more. Good luck!
Note: If you don't activate the software, it can't detect GPS device.
Will this work if I restore those folders inside the Program Files folder, not in root folder?
Thanks.

About
This tool is made by me to make testing of manila files easier.
It takes me around 20 seconds from I save my changes in m9editor to the changes are visible on the phone
This is intended on developers that already know a bit about the manila and lua files.
Setup device
Install sdkcerts.cab
Install xbmod policy.cab
Reset device
Connect device to pc with activesync
How it works
Build
All *.lua files in the project folder are compiled and copied to the output directory with their correct *_manila name (embedded *.lua files are ignored)
All files in the project\includes folder gets copied to the output directory
All *_manila files in the project folder gets copied to the output directory
Deploy on device
Copies all the files in the output folder to /windows/ on your device
Restarts manila
Backup device files
Copies all the files on the device /windows/ folder matching the files in the output folder to <projectname>\backup\
Create CAB
Helps you create a cab of the files in the output folder
How to use
Open ManilaKitchen.exe
Create a folder in the projects folder called "My test project"
Click Refresh list in the app and select My test project from the list
Click Open folder (you should have a couple of new folders)
In projects\<projectName>\includes\ are files that you want to add with the deployment that are not *_manila files. (jpg's etc..)
In projects\<projectName>\ you put all the *_manila files and *.lua files for your project (you can add other files, but these will be ignored when you click Build.
When you click Build projects\<projectName>\output\ will be filled with all the files *_manila, *.lua (compiled as their correct *_manila) files and the content from the includes folder
Click Deploy on device and look on your device (you might get a install notification) to copy all the files from the output directory to the windows folder on the device

Cab Manager Program
I use and recommend WinCE Cab Manager (Get it HERE)

First you will need a file to cab. We will start with a basic single manila file.
i have attached one if you don't already have..

Awesome, thank you!! I'd been looking at some other "how-to-cab" guides, this one seems to be as simple as can be
Looks like I've got my weekend project all lined up now
Just something I want to share with you:

Are you on Windows? You have to reconnect your Desire and enable Mass Storage to see it.

if u modify the autorun.inf on the icon part to say icon=whateverfolder\HTC Desire.ico
e.x ICON=resource\HTC Desire.ico
Then you can have the icon in whateverfolder you want, and it will still be read when mounting the device (if your like me and dont like more than neccessary in the root directory of the SD card.
here http://iirojappinen.deviantart.com/art/HTC-Desire-icon-163467079
mmm.... seems that when i copy the autorun.inf and ico file to my sd on the desire.... it deletes the inf file!!!
Thanks for that tiny but nice icon mate

Same here.. if i disable and enable mass storage the .inf file is gone
maybe anti virus software delete it
Don't have such a thing
Its the same for me, even if I make the file read only....
Yeah, it has nothing to do with antivirus s/w ...... my antivirus s/w didnt quarantine anything, or flag the autorun.inf file.... i even disabled the av... and tried again... same issue...!Oh well...
Simple but very good idea! Working well on my desire! Just used the alternative icon with the display on and looke awesome! Thanks!
Thanks ! looks great now and with a personalized name
Tried this a while back, autorun.inf just gets deleted from the SD card when I enable Disk Drive mode.
Absolutely great taste, A+
Same here, since I upgraded to Froyo using the HTC update with sense it kicks off the *.inf from the SD-Card, saaaaaad.
PS: I have no antivirus or else active by the time I tested it.
Hey there,
i'd like to share a little application i made.
The problem:
I was annoyed by the uncomfortable use of MTP in Windows.
Especially when having more and more files in one folder like the camera folder.
Windows needs several minutes to get the complete filelist.
The solution:
i created a little application which pulls files from your android-device via adb.
the app checks all specified folders from the configuration-file and pulls all files which are not existing to the destination folder.
there is also an option to change the created/modified timestamp of images/videos by parsing the filename. this function may be useful for sorting your pictures/videos.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Setting up the app:
the app creates all necessary files on the first start.
after creating, it automatically opens the configuration-file for you to edit it.
there is a comment in every line to understand what the application will do.
there are a couple more of options, read the ini-file-comments to understand.
Requirements:
- Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0
- the ability to modify a textfile
- ADB-Debugging must be enabled on your device
- the internal path you want to sync from your android-device
if you don't know the path, install "es file explorer" or any other file-explorer and try to find out the path. see screenshot...
if you like this tool feel free to donate.
THX and have fun!

It's a great idea but the tool does not really work well. I tried many different things now and it either didn't sync at all saying there were no files to copy or only copies the one given directory without subdirectories.
I hope it's not programmed that way since it'd be very un-useful for those who'd want to make a backup of their phone before flashing (as example me right now).
Good idea tho, really like it yet!
Hi, thanks for your work. I have a Zenfne 2 and this works for me, but i need to copy all the sdcard folder and subfolders. What i need to do?
Great no-nonsense tool!
Allow me to recommend two minor additions
1) For JPG and PNG file, examine the "DATE TAKEN" meta-tag, and use this for filestamp (by an option)
2) A flag for Traverse Subdirs.
(If not easy on the source side, it could be OK with the destination side, one could easily do a initial full copy in explorer)
ADD:
3) An option NOT to try to supply it's own ADB.exe, without a confirmation dialogue as this might be wrong compared to the version used on the system...
...And a tiny bug.
4) When "OpenAfterCopyOnly" is selected and multiple sync-sections is in use, it should ONLY open the destination folders for the dirs that got new files, not all destinations.
Thanks! Just used this to solve my issue. Phone rebooted within 2 minutes, so doing it straight didn't work for me. Good work!
People interested in this, might find this little tool PortableDevicesIncrementalCopy helpful too
It can do INCREMENTAL copies via MTP of the entire tree, so very handy and reasonably quick to keep a backup including all your images on your PC
https://eskerahn.dk/wordpress/?p=1668
Note it is not a MIRROR-function, so files deleted on the device will stay on the PC.
Not work on my pc. Error cannot write file.
