Hello i loke for a pause key on the screen keypad ? pause key is a wait command
... you can use an "," (without quotes) for a pause within the phone-number...
yes, but how do you put on the Hermes phone keypad? I think it's not possible, it would be very useful to dial PBX numbers, so you can store everything on a contact...
I could be wrong, but I believe if when updating a Contacts phone number field, you can simply put a "p" (or multiple p's) to denote pauses.
I couldn't figure a way to input them from the dialer pad, either.
...yeah I'm sorry. I answered to quick. Indeed it's not possible, maybe someone else know to program such command. I also tried with keyboard but it just won't accept a ","...
I always use 2 commas
ex:
18002616430 ,,12345,,726226
this works for me. to call my home overseas, usually I stored phone card information this way in the contact, I simply use the unused field like fax or work.
ok it works with , / nice forum /
On my Cingular branded 8525:
'w' causes the dialer to wait for a press of the 'talk' button;
',' or 'p' pause. On my phone ',,' pauses about the same time as 'p'.

As I am using my Wizard open in horizontal position in my brodit car-holder I would like to know if it is possible to use the hardware keyboard (instead of the on-screen soft keypad) in the dialer screen using the smartdial options.
Also is there a hack that keeps the hardware keyboard light on when the device in on charge?
I don't see why not - just use the number row of keys (QWERTYUIOP - no need for the dot key) to type any numbers, and use the arrow keys (bottom-right) to select from the smart dialing list, and the enter/return key to select.
As for the backlight - SOL until somebody figures out where that's controlled, I'm afraid.
maybe I was not clear enough, I would like to use the whole slide-out keyboard.
ie. when i want to dial John i would just type j o h n (whereas on the on-screen keypad i would type 5 6 4 6)
When driving using the slide-out keyboard gives me more confidence when dialing (on my Himalaya the on-screen dialpad was bigger which made i better useable without a stylus)
I know what you mean. The phone apps doesnt support hard keyboard. Try clicking contacts and type on the hard keyboard the name in contacts. then dial from there. hope this helps.
well, you could still type 5646 - and it'll still go to 'John'
But I understand what you mean now - does seem silly. The contacts suggestion sounds good, but ideally maybe get one of those phone front-end replacements.
As for the buttons - they're fairly large here.. large enough for touching with fingertips anyway. Does your Wizard have some customization cab making the keys small, maybe? or am I underestimating the size of your fingers?
underestimating the size of your fingers!
Use Microsoft Voice Command instead
I tried the trial version of MS Voice Command v1.5 on my Cingular 8125 (aka Wizard) and it is just fabulous. No voice training needed. I tried the registry hack to use the BT headset to to take the voice command just couple of hours back. Need to check how well the 8KHz sampling of the BT works with the 16KHz sampling based algo in VC. You can really be hands-free with this s/w. Amazing!
is it possible to write a message on the qtek 9100 (wizard) without using the stylus. When i open the new message menu and input the number i can't move to writing with both cursors on keyboard or 5way joystick...when i press down on both it just moves the scrollbar but not the writing cursor...please help or tell me if it is the same with your wizards...thanks in advance!
if you're using the keyboard you can do it.
type in the number you want to send it to then push the "tab" key and it will move down into the message body.

no, this is not the way i tried it...does it happen with your wizard?
The tab key to change fields works perfectly on my wizard...
do you mean fields in the write new mesage menu does the tab change between recipient and text menus?
I'm not sure I understand what your asking...
Tab would take me from the to field to, say, the body field.
Is that what your asking? Are you trying to get tab to do something else? Like cycle through the contacts when you hit "Menu" -> "Add Reciepient"? That I do with the D-Pad...
when i write a new message i input the number and want to start writing the text. but when i hit the tab button it scrolls the scrollbar the same way the navi button does...it just moves the screen "down" but the cursor stays in the phone number field...
Try pressing Shift and then the down arrow on the keyboard.
I noticed this issue when I first got my Mini S however I also noticed that in later revisions of the ROM they have changed this behaviour so that tab, shift and the down arrow both move the cursor from the To field to the body field.
when i press "shift" and then "down" it happens the same as if i press just down or tab...it scrolls the scroll bar at the right...the tab changes the field i every other menu i repeat EVERY except the menu when you write sms...my rom is the latest on te qtek site 2.17.0001 os 2.17.7.2 is there any newer OFFICIAL rom?please tell me that also(;...please verify this thing in the write sms menu not in any menu with fields because the tab doesn't work only there...weird huh?

I hope I have the reason for not being able to jump from one field to the other without using stylus: it happens when you are using smooth scrolling in internet explorer by the help of a third party program i.e. like tweaks 2k2, spb pocket plus etc.
Try to look if you have somehow enabled smooth scrolling, disable it and make a soft reset. After that messaging without stylus should work again.
Hope it helps!
Kind regards
M.
I had the same problem, and this is the solution for me!
You should change the settings in the following key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\
open key "4-Way Nav" and set value=1
THANKS MAN! I appreciate that you wrote those words for me i hope it returns to you someday...cheers
Hi!A silly question it may seem to be but I desperately need a solution
I slide out the keypad and I want to dial a number (make a call) ...... but I have to press the DOT button (bottom left) followed by the number keys,is there a possibility to type numbers with pressing dot button everytime?
In soft keypad its possible but not on the hardwware keypad
Pl advice..thanx a million!
I don't seem to have this issue. When I type on the number keys, it shows the numbers on the right hand of the dial box and letters on the left. I can then dial either.
Perhaps this is a function of smartdial (which I thought came on pretty much every ROM, but maybe not).

I don't seem to have that problem if I push the green button first.Slide out keyboard and dial, or slide out keyboard first, then hit the green.
My concern was not with hitting the call button and typing numbers but what if I only want to use hardware keypad rather than the soft keypad to type numbers without having to hit the bottom leftmost dot button??
ny ideas r appreciated!!!
I don't know of a way to not use the function key when inputting numbers but I thought I would mention, just on the off chance that you weren't aware, that if you have a string of numbers to key in, you don't need to press the dot for each number, just click it twice in quick succession and it locks the numbers lock on. When you have finished, just press the dot again and it takes the lock off.
I am sure you probably already knew this but I thought it was worth mentioning just in case you didn't.

Thank you very much,that solved my problem!!I never used a ppc before,,used a wm5 smartphone though....nyways,case closed!
Thankx again!
Excellent ... glad I could help
That's got me interested now - why do cbreze and I not need to press the function key at all in order to dial a number (or name) with the slide-out keyboard, but kkiran and Nicky do?
Screenshot attached from typing "yui" (which is also 123).
Are kkiran and Nicky missing SmartDial?

Hi arghness, I don't have to press the function key to dial a telephone number on my keyboard, I only need to for typing in notes, word, emails, texts etc...
I just assumed the reason kkiran couldn't do it was because he was using a different rom and didn't have the smart dial on his phone but I didn't actually check
Yeah Nicky,I downgraded to original Cingy 8525 ROM cos xda live 0.1 almost bricked my costliest investment in a mobile phone after Nokia 6600 (499$ in 2004)!!
I may try XDA Live 0.20 and hope it doesnt' disappoint me...So far,wm 6 failed to excite me...cos no interesting features - wm6 = = better skinned wm5
You are braver than me ... I daren't change my standard rom for that very reason, I am sure if I attempted it, it would be bye bye phone
I am only brave enough to try a few registry tweaks and install lots of programs ... and I did do the sim unlock on my phone, that was nervewracking enough
you sim unlocked it?wont' u void the warranty?I feel sim unlocking may benefit u only if u plan to sell the mobile or use it with another provider.
nyways, hope a generalised wm6 rom is released by providers/m$!!our hermes is by far da most popular phone,so they shud honor us!!

Yes, I think it may void the warranty but I have another phone contract on a different network and I really did not want to carry two phones about, I just wanted to be able to swap the sims over occasionally to check for texts etc.. so I took the chance.
My first Vario II developed the screen alignment problem and was returned under warranty months ago and I had also unlocked that one. I didn't mention that it was unlocked and they never mentioned anything so I guess I was lucky.
Im old school, I like to put the "-" in between the first 3 numbers and last 4 numbers of my contacts.
So I Was entering in some people today, and I suually hit the blue dot and "f" to get the dahs, but it doesn't work. Shift doens't give me a capital, either. And I don't have to hold down the blue key to get the numbers working when I press the appropriate keys, they come up by themselves.
I checked and the Fn and Shift keys were no stuck, and hadn;t been pressed twice. What is going on?
Anyone? This is annoying
I confirmed this bug... when adding a new contact and entering a phone number via the hardware keyboard I couldn't insert the '-' (dash) character, no matter what i did with the fn and shift key i would get the 'a' character. I could insert the '-' character via the standard windows mobile software keyboard and the PCM Keyboard (another software keyboard).
This could be a design flaw of the windows mobile contact editor. Maybe they wanted to disallow all non alphanumeric characters and only implemented that for the hardware keyboard rather than for both the hardware and software keyboard.
Whatever the problem is, in order to get a dash character to show up when editing a contact phone number on the stock Sprint 6.1 rom it looks like you will need to use the software keyboard
There is something I don't understand.
So I am new to smartphones, have a Legend. Recently upgraded to Android 2.2. When I create a new contact on the phone and I enter his phone number, since I've upgraded it shows on the virtual keyboard also the letters "P" and "W" along with the numbers, so I can enter a phone number containing "P" and "W".
I was looking for some online help, but could not find one. What are "P" and "W" for?
I was thinking that probably this has something to do with modern phone answering menus and could be like "pause" and "wait" so entering "123w456" would produse "dial 123, then wait a bit and dial 456" where "456" could be extension. No idea - this is the first thing that came to my mind. Don't think of actual phone target I can dial it and try it with.
Does anyone know? I just read the Desire HD manual hoping it could answer, since I remember it has newer Android on it.
Help anyone?
Thanks
from what I know, one is for Pause and the other for Wait.
Function:
- Pause: wait for user to interact (press button)
- Wait: giving a short pause, then continue with string
That's what I think it is, maybe it is actually the other way around between P and W.
on my HTC Desire dialpad
W means "wait for user to interact (press button)"
P means "giving a short pause, then continue with string"
So I need to press button using "w"
PS: I use it dialling my IP-telephony provider from my cell.
Just typing +XXXXXXXpYYYYYYY
where XXXXXXX is pool number of IP-tel provider and YYYYYYY - the number I'm calling
