Could you help, I have bought a XDA from a local taxi Co. It was beeing used as sat nav. I need to install windows as it has nothing on it. Can you help.
[email protected]
Hmmm. That is strange. Normally the Windows is stored on the ROM, taht can not be erased. But if you say, there isn´t something on it, Only possibility is to flash via SD-Card....

OK,
As you may have read in other posts, I, like many other people, have bricked my 02 XDA by trying to update the ROM. It appears there are very few XDA's / Artemis machines that will update successfully if still CID locked.
There is NO O2 ROM available
Once bricked, there are no "free" solutions
I sent my O2 XDA to IMEI CHECK and they reflashed the XDA with a new ROM (choose one from this site) - (O2 ROMs are not available). As soon as they had a working XDA, they emailed me to PayPal the fee and the XDA arrived the following day in the post - working perfectly.
All I can say is :-
I was an idiot to try and update a CID locked XDA
IMEI-CHECK are great and fixed my error for £47
If you have bricked your PDA, the only sure way of fixing it, at the moment, is to use IMEI CHECK
If you want your PDA CID unlocked, the only way of doing this, at the moment, is to use IMEI CHECK
Thank you IMEI CHECK (I have no connection, other than a very satisfied customer)
Best regards to all XDA / Artemis users
Jeff
Cheers
Cheers for that fella,
If only this were a sticky and I read this potential sticky two days ago - i'd not have bricked my XDA like the impatient, impetuous fool that I am.
Never mind o2 can sort it out.
Cheers,
Ste.
Yep, I wish it had been a sticky as well . . . . but you get to learn about life through all these little setbacks. At least there is a get-out and I have a working XDA again! It could have been far worse.
Jeff
Glass half Full (of urine)
I'm assuming that now that IMEI-CHECK have done the business on your XDA that you can now re flash it to your hearts content?
Also, why is a compatible ROM image not available to reload the XDA anyway? is it just because in our case O2 haven't needed to release one yet or what?
I might just pay the £47 and get this one sorted so I can play with it afterwards, I would have to pay them about half that to get id CID unlocked anyway so it's not all bad.
I've looked at thier site and it tells you nothing - how did you contact them - have you a name and or number?
Ste.
oops
Sorry, must have got the web addess wrong, checked it again and found all the details ok.

Just hard-reset it. Press the soft keys+soft reset simuntaneouly and you can then commit a hard reset

You probably have the OLD version of JWright's ROM where it is a KNOWN BUG that the password screen would just pop-up for no reason. If that is the only problem you have and would like to keep that ROM. Follow what KDSKamal suggested and Hard Reset your Universal. To bypass the bug, just set a password. If you don't want to be bothered by the password, set to to come up after 24 hours. In that way the only time the password would come out is after a soft reset. Now since you already plugged-in a password, even if the bug suddenly reactives the password screen, you already have a code to unlock it.

thanks for your response...
i did it finally...
but i m a total noob...
could anyone kindly tell me how to upgrade it to WM6 and where to download the rom please?
thanks a million....
what if the password was set by the previous owner?
and what if you just bought a stollen PDA?

Then I would imagine that the previous owner would have reported it missing and I guess the next question will be "My phone isn't working!" =)
i help it's not a stolen phone....
but i got it with original box and all accessories...and the IMEI with the phone is matching the one on the box....
so i guess it's legit....
Then you're probably right, not a stolen phone.
Do the hard reset, become familiar with flashing the ROM by using the latest official ROM for your device, then you can try the WM6 unofficial ones, or even Linux. Better to know how to flash the device with the right image than to go straight for something that might not work the way youo expect or the way you want.
Good luck!
sorry to ask stupid questions again...
i tried O2 website but i don't see anywhere i could download the lastest rom...
i only see roms in this forum...like the ones from Darkforce....
and...is there anyway to back up the current rom that i have so i could try to flash it to the unoffical ones????
i really wanna try WM6...
sorry for being such a noob....
thanks again
plus....i saw some post saying flash/download the radio rom...but nowhere it said what it's for.....
is it really needed?
Try the FTP site (see the wiki for more info) for the radio roms etc, and the search function should help you find many of the custom roms for WM6y or AKU3 etc.
If you want O2's "latest and greatest" ROM (which is now very old) go to http://www.my-xda.com/xdaExecSoftwareDownload.html

Hi, i am from Turkey and unfortunately theres no market app in our phones. Yea, dont know why but it is pure stupidness and shame.
I read a lot here and realized that i need to root my phone first, thats ok i can do it with my mac.
But my question is can i flash official rom with my mac? i understood that i should download an official rom from shipped-roms .com/shipped/Buzz/ but since they are .exe i dont know how can i flash...
Ps. Yes, i want to flash a UK rom to get market app (i am hoping it is OK for me)

Thank you very much for your answer, i will not install any MS softwares into my mac and i think theres no way to do this in mac.
I think the best option is go to an inet cafe and do the job there. But i have a question; if i flash UK rom into my Turkish carrier phone (vodafone), do you think there will be any problem?
Also, if i do that, whats going to happen after upgrade to froyo from HTC, my phone will be unrooted?

Not sure - I am not responsible if you break your phone or mac though!
to install windows, buy a copy of xp/vista/7 and see http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup_10.6.pdf
(64 bit is supported)
http://www.2nas.com
Provides :
1: Integrates Unbrick / Flash ROM / Root All-In-One.
2: Use the same protocol as ODIN, but 2nas is more user-friendly and easy-to-use.
3: Cloud based database to flash your android phone with correct files(ROM, etc)
4: Automatically download necessery files to flash, and check them with SHA1, it's safe for your phone.
5: Store all downloaded files in local disk, under a good directory structure, it's usefull when you have several phones.
Re: Cloud-based Android Flash Tools
So you are having people flash their phones over the internet? What if the net disconnects? I hope the service is free ....and is this service even necessary. Flashing roms sometimes ends up in problems and you have to flash again, isn't it better to just use Odin and have the roms on a pc?

just looked at the site, looking at the screenshot, it just looks like a pc app that downloads firmware from the clouds?
So not actually flashing over the net.

alright.. how is it 'cloud'? Are you just using the word cloud as a synonym for 'internet'? There's nothing in the software that requires a 'cloud'..
Sorry, but just had to vent.

ROM matching is base on the Cloud. When I add New-ROMs or New-Flash-Instructions, you needn't to download this software again
Why not have a try? ^&^
Updated
http://www.2nas.com
2013-2-3 Version 1.0.0.124
Add Feedback function to improve our service.
Add Instruction-Webpages to avoiding mis-operation.
Can't get it.
Would be nice to know what your tool/service is capable to.
I flashed a wrong ROM, so I still can get to the download but not into recovery mode.
I download the USB driver and your software........and then ????
I don't have currently a proper PC/laptop to try, only a company laptop which doesn't allow me to play with.
More details would be highly appreciated to bring my S3 back to life when I'm back home.

Was i speaking to you. You're so dumb you can't read. Look at the first post.
And why would i want to leave details for idiots.
These days every single last person on here is stupid.
They cannot read nor can they be bothered to find out.
Always leeching and begging yet not giving credit to anyone for their hard work.
So here is more detail for you STFU and go back into hiding..
Absolutely brilliant work and thanks for sharing with us much respect thanks man :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Unbrick failed
As mentioned before I couldn't install 2nas software on my company laptop, but in the meanwhile I borrowed one and tried the unbrick function.
Everything worked well till I started the installation after the download, so it failed straight away at the flashing of the boot.img, see attached screenshots.
Initial rom on my S3 was I9300XXLEF (Hong Kong) and I flashed Samsung Galaxy S III GT-I9300 Stock Firmware Collection I9300XXEMA2 after that it didn’t re-boot because of wrong ROM, if I try to get into recovery it shows the “Firmware upgrade encountered issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again” screen..
@ Meemo23
I asked polite and didn't expect that kind of profane reply w/o any substance apart personal bashing.
Cheers.....LinChina

Guy just asked how it helped you, meaning how di you applied it, and what issue have you solved.
But, as I see, reading with understanding is beyond your abilities, instead, you are very keen to abuse someone.
Off topic question: are you abusing all peoples when you're unable to understand their question(e.g. your nanny is in bathroom)?
Sad to say, but I can see a lot of problems when your parents will send you to nursery...

If you've tried a few of those types of apps with root and can't find it, it may have already been written over. Unless you can find a tool for PC that would run on your external SD card (assuming that's where it was saved), the only other option would be to find a data recovery company and you would have to give up your phone/sdcard for a few weeks which tends to cost upwards of $2000 with no guarantee of recovery.
