Hi all,
I'm a auther of PQz & PQzII.
I just uploaded a new software 'QDz' on my web site.
QDz is a simple Picture contact dialer(mailer) like mobile phones.
Can download here.
http://www.nicque.com/PQz
=> QDz [Download]
so, I have not got HTC Hermes yet, but I will buy it as soon as possible.
Please test QDz and let me know if problem.
also, Ideas and sugestions are always welcome.
cheers,
tom
very good software . thank you for all your great software.
Suggestions:
1. Russian (or better custom) letters on tabs.
2. Using standard Outlook "save as"/"show as" field for contacts.
3. One-click contact opening.
4. One-click call or sms inside contact.
Question: I've not a "favourite" label under the every contact like on your screenshots. What does this label mean and how turn it on?
Thanx for your job, I will test it!!
>> zamsky
Thanks for your suggestion. I will think about it.
>> Question: I've not a "favourite" label under the every contact like on >> your screenshots. What does this label mean and how turn it on?
See the QDz's menu and select 'Add/Remove Favorite' option.
or You can use Outlook on your PC. Add 'Favorites' category in contact.
>> alberbrando
Thanks for tring QDz.

tom
Some suggestions
Great program! really nice to use...!
A couple of ideas -
1. make the exit button really exit - not open an exit submenu
2. make it possible to type names like the MS addressbook - it will be much easier to use.
3. Incorprate a possibility to video call (I have a Universal)
Thanks,
Ariel
looks very nice... downloading!
>> summoner
Thanks, really nice ideas.
>> sama
I hope you like it.

Nice tool... it's odd that the standard contact list does'nt show the pictures by default
One small problem, clicking on the '*' tab shows no contacts at all, instead of a full list of all the contacts like I would expect. It would be nice if the app could show a full list of contacts at once, since I scroll through with the wheel anyway.
OUTSTANING WORK
I really a appreciate small simple apps that do one thing do it right. I especially like the way this works intuitively with the scroll wheel on the TyTN. 8)
2 suggestions:
1: add an option to always show all contacts (remove the tabs)
and
2: make the buttons to select from the categories list big enough to be pressed with your thumb for one-handed operation
With these two additions, this would definitely be my must-use contact app.
Thanks again.
thanks alot great program very good.
Thanks for using QDz and good suggestions.
cheers,
tom
Great program, so quick and easy.
And does the *Favorite bit have to be so big on each contact? Perhaps the * by itself would be OK, or nothing at all even?
I think it would be great if you could "tab" left/right to change to the next tab, not the next letter (perhaps an option?)
Hope these make sense, but its still the best contacts dialler out there.
I don't understand the idea of this program for WM5 since it has the possibillity to select pictures and ringtones individualy in contacts.

Hi guys! Had my M5000 for about 10 days now and finally getting used to it but I wonder if anyone canm help with any of the following questions??
1. How do we edit the dictionary?? I can't even find how to add words and that would be REALLY handy as I normally use the phone pad for typing!
2. Can we select a default input method? (I use the phone pad but it always reverts to popup keyboard)
3. Can we change what the soft keys to on the today screen? (I'd dearly love to change Calendar to Messaging!)
4. I prefer to keep event, program and notification sounds all turned on but can I disable the start button click and the noise it makes when opening programs or settings??
5. My device is set to turn off after three mins - Is there a way to make it turn on again when I press ANY button? (I swear the power button moves in the dark lol)
6. When I go into my games menu it takes just over 40 seconds to list them all (I have about 20 games all installed on my memory card) - Does anyone know what might cause this??
7. Is there a way to get these phones to receive files over bluetooth from other make of phone? Mates with both Nokias and Sony have tried sending me pictures over BT but no luck
Think that's it for now - Sorry if any of these are stupid questions with obvious answers that I've missed but I'm pretty sure I've tried every damn menu on the device now lol! I'm also hoping that there's things here that other people would also like ot know!
Thanks
1. The dictionary can have words added to it by making a document in Word (named, for example: 'Personal dictionary') and saving it. Any word you add will be in the dictionary from that point on (as long as the document is not deleted).
3. Try registry hack here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry
5. Try 'Settings' - 'Buttons' - Lock tab - 'Do not lock buttons'
4. Not sure if there's a reg hack for it, I've searched for the filenames below and their paths to no avail. but the only other way would be to remove the following files from \Windows:
hwandsw.wav
MenuPop.wav
If you remove or copy these to a different location, then you won't hear anything. During the old XDA / XDA2 and i phases, I used to swap the WM2002/3 sounds for PC Windows noises. Later, when it came to 2005, I used the set contained on here as they were much nicer.
6. If they're on the SD card then presumably it has to search the SD for all of the .exe files. This could be improved by perhaps defragging your card (StorageTools is a good app for this). Another thing may be to try creating links to your game .exes in a folder on the PHONE, and replace the Start > Programs > Games icons with links to the PHONE copies. You can add / remove these by going to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games
7. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry - look for the section entitled To change the ability to receive files via Bluetooth (OBEX)
Ant
Hi
The registry obex 'hack' does exactly the same thing as going to settings, comms, beam, and clicking the selection box 'recieve all beams' Beam = Ir AND Bluetooth.
I find that the button lock setting does not work. With it set to 'do not lock' you still cant press any button to switch the unit on
Nigel
Thanks for the tips guys
Maybe I should have been more specific with the dictionary thing - I want to be able to add words to the predictive text (Town/friends names for example) - Does adding them to the dictionary do this??
Yes, adding any words to the dictionary adds them to predictive text, as well. The predictive text uses the dictionary.
Plus you'll find that as you type more and more, it will automatically add words you spell out it doesn't recognise.
Ant
Thanks guys - Especially for the registry link - Some REALLY great stuff there
hmmmmm... One quickie though:
For example, to change the left-hand softkey to start Pocket Excel you would set
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\(Default) = Pocket Excel
* HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = \windows\pxl.exe
Anyone know how I set this to open contacts???
I've just received my MDA Vario.
It's a great phone (I sent my MDA Pro back, because it was just too big - the Vario is perfect).
But in the Settings/Buttons section, 'Contacts' does not appear amongst the list of applications which I can assign buttons against. Most programs are in the list (such as Camera, Excel Mobile, etc), but there is no 'Contacts' and no 'Calendar' and no 'Notes' - although Record is there.
Since Contacts is one of my main points of use, I need a Contacts button.
Please can someone help me get Contacts into the list.
Thanks
I dont get it, Contacts is a pre-set button on the Vario. If you hold it upright looking at it without keyboard out, above the red button bottom right and below where it says T-Mobile is the preset contacts button.
Furthermore when you are in contacts, you get each persons name, just hold the central button at the bottom centre of the phone the loaf of bread shaped one if you like, hold it for a few secs in contacts and a list of different attributes for that contact pop up, you can scroll down and select phone numbers and email addresses.

No - It's a soft key - So Contacts is only available from the Today Screen, unlike the other buttons which are always available.
Whatever program I'm running, I want a one button press to take me to contacts.
Why isn't Contacts in the Settings/Buttons list of applications ????
Please help someone ?
My K-JAM lets me assign ANY of the hardware buttons to Contacts.
It could be that SPB PocketPlus has enabled this as it has extra features for button mapping however i am sure it was available before i installed PocketPlus.
Could this be an issue with the Vario ROM maybe?

Well I've not done anything to it and it always pulls up contacts, whether you are in a programme or on today screen, the only difference is, if you are in say Calendar you have to press and hold and not just click. What ROM do you have ?

Your is different to mine.
That'd be very useful if it worked... Mine is however working the same as Andrews...
Any hints on what the differences might be?
Although it's tediously two presses, doesn't the red "phone" button take you back to today (from anywhere except in a live call) and restore the contacts softkey just above it?

My Dutch MDA Vario has the contacts app in the start-settings-buttons menu, so I am able to map it to a button. If you want to do it without the settings menu, because it does not show up there, make the regedit. It can be found in the thread "Lost" some of the buttons on my 9100 or something like that. search for "lost"+ buttons and I am sure you will find it. In that thread are the registry keys where the right values for the keys are given. Just take the key you want to map contacts to and change the paths to point to contacts application (probably /windows/contacts.exe, or something similar).
Save the reg edits, soft reset and bingo. It should now show up in the start-settings-buttons.
Dox, thanks for that. Simple, but effective
Um forgive me if I'm being dense but looking at it isn't the list of applications available to map to the hardware buttons just whats in your Start Menu?
If contacts has gone the shortcut must have gone from the start menu so surely just...put...it...back?

I´m using pocket informant for PIM management and HD Tweaks to remap the softkeys, however, I can´t assign to any of the softkey the pocket informant contacts or calendar, only the WM.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
You need to modifye keys in the registry. Here is how I've done it on my HD (it's in french, so you may have to translate the path for your version)
Using a registry editor,
- I have assigned the label "Agenda" to the left soft key :
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\HomeLSKText="Agenda"
- I've assigned the week view to the key :
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\HomeLSKPath="Windows\menu démarrer\programmes\informant utils\piweek.lnk"
Note that the "Informant Utils" folder contains a shortcut for each view, you can choose whichever you want, their name are self explanatory.
I've configured the x button to close all applications but PI (to have it always active and then have a faster access) :
- start PI
- go to settings>Task manager> tab "current" (or whatever the first tab name is in your language)
- tap and hold on the PI task, then select "add to exclusive"
That way, when I click on the left soft key (now labeled "Agenda") I switch to PI in week view. I can then switch from PI by using the Home button or the x button, PI will stay active and the next switch will be very fast.
Nor working for me...
I should work. You must have made a mistake somwhere. Did you do a soft reset? Did you doublecheck the path to be sure you wrote it correctly?
You can also try the program HD Tweak wich allow you to set that in section 14.4 & 14.5.
My answer to HTCZar was irrelevant, because Claude already anwered.
As I said in the first post, I tried to use HD Tweaks, however the optios presented don´t include the PI calendar\agenda, how do I put them there?
Coude said:

Could you possibly check the link properties for this and month view? Just for anyone that might have got rid of all those extra links cluttering up his 'All programs list'...
What I'd like to have set up, the left soft key goes to Pocket Informant (maybe the screen where you choose what view you want) and when I tap an appointment in TF3D it loads the agenda view, using SSMaPa. (Can you get me a link for this?)
Here is the link as read in the properties of the shortcut :
For PIWeek.lnk :
"\Program Files\WebIS\PocketInformant\PITab.exe" 4?\Program Files\WebIS\PocketInformant\PITab.exe,-113
For PIMonth :
"\Program Files\WebIS\PocketInformant\PITab.exe" 4?\Program Files\WebIS\PocketInformant\PITab.exe,-114
To get rid af tho extras link in 'All program list', it would have been better to move the shortcut in another folder, so you could still use them if needed...
I haven't used SSMaPa yet (but I planned to) therefore I can't help you on this matter. Sorry.
Yeah, I should have just moved them... silly me. Thanks for your help. Could you possibly give the link to the agenda view too? Thanks.
Is there a link to 'view' view?
I´ll Try that Again then.
Is it possoble to change the hardware keys function?
Works fine! Thank you very much! @claude

1. You need to install registry editor. I use Resco Registry Editor, but there are some other.
2. Open the registry and follow the tree up to the parameter HomeLSKPath. Taping on the parameter should provide a field where to keyin the path string.
3. Quit the registry editor
4. Restart TF3D or do a Soft Reset.
I´ve done that, and i´m also using Resco editor.
The path strings begins with Windows\....PIWeek.lnk right? it takes no " "?
Links to control panel items on the HTC Leo HD2. Some of these will work on different platforms, some won't. This article relates to my HD2 Leo running wm 6.5.x build 28232, but it should be common across all hd2 roms.
Control panel items are generally not files in their own right, rather they are bundled together into .cpl files.
To create a link directly to a particular control panel item is easy. (we will use the USB to PC Activesync screen as our example)
Open a new notepad document on your pc, paste in the command
23#ctlpnl.exe mycpl.cpl,34
save the text file, (example usb2pc.txt) and then rename the extension from .txt to .lnk (LNK for 'link')
Move the file usb2pc.lnk to the phone, and move it to the windows\start menu folder.
Now when you click an empty quicklink space you will find that usb2pc is now available to set as a quicklink.
The command explained.
------------------------
23#ctlpnl.exe mycpl.cpl,34
23 == tells the system how many characters are in the command. (Seems not to matter too much whether this is correct or not, at least on the HD2)
# == is the delimiter to signify the begining of the command.
ctlpnl.exe == is the control panel program that opens and executes the .cpl file.
mycpl.cpl == specifies the .cpl file to use.
,34 == is the index of the command within the cpl file. Not every index is used.
You can further specify the exact tab to open for items held in the cplmain.cpl file by specifying the tab number at the end.
For example
24#ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,2 calls up the owner info ident tab
whilst
24#ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,2,1 calls up owner info, but on the notes tab.
Looking for this info online turned up the fact that it doesn't stay quite the same from one version of windows mobile to the next, and manufactures can add their own .cpl files too, so I decided to manually try the variants and compile a list specific to the hd2
The one exception to the cpl method is for the power settings, which have now been moved to powerexe.exe

Thanks
great job
Wow.
thats great job m8.I'm sure so many people will like this
heh thanks. I got tired of giving out links info that ended up being wrong.
Well I've bookmarked this little gem and have already given it out to one person asking for advice
Also bookmarked, very useful. Thanks for taking the time to put this together!
Great post. Book marked.
Sometimes the simplest explanations are the best ... what a great post ... Thanks!!
Update
-------
I've been looking at changing the default link icon when you create the link, cos its rubbish, , ,
The icon address is appended to the end of the shortcut, pointing to a dll file and a code position within that file.
I've been browsing through the shellres.192.dll file and it seems lots of the control panel icons (or similar) are held there.
I'm not sure if there are different versions of this file, but it matches on two roms I tried. (a 1.66 and a 2.10)
so, the command for, say, cleartype.
24#ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,7,1
the icon path goes after a ? to give
50#ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,7,1?shellres.192.dll,-13906
These are just some of the default icons, i'm still looking for the extras in other files. (oh and i can't find what theyre actually called individually, so i described some of them )
replace the number at the end with the corresponding number below.
13840 clock full face
13841 user
13888 phone broadcast wireless
13895 power
13899 about
13900 memory
13901 earth symbol
13902 phone broadcast blue lines
13905 contrast
13906 screen
13909 BT icon
13910 IR icon
13911 phone to pc connection
13924 sounds
13927 plain file icon
13936 keyboard icon
13937 menu icon
13941 certificates
13942 key symbol
13943 files with down arrow
13944 phone with play icon
13952 clock and house
13953 phone
13954 phone and wifi
13961 connections
13969 radio button pressed
13970 radio button not pressed
13996 error symbol
13997 blue globe icon
13998 sd card encryption
13999 wifi round
14000 multiple tick select
14001 task manager
14002 mobile and office block?
Incredible job mate!!
Sooooo Happy
What a gracfully given gift, that even a techtard such as my self can grasp and use. Congradulations on your fatherhood.
Very good work
Thanks for this.
Another way to optimise our shortcuts.
Any solution to assign to shortcuts some icons of my choice?
Thanks in advance

This is a very useful post. Thank you.
I am just wondering if there is an actual link for the Task Manager? (The one that has the Running Programs List etc.)

see post 9. there are loads of dll files, and lots of them have icons in them. you can reference any file at the end of the command to give the icon
Get a resource editor (i use xn resource editor, but only cos thats the first one i came across) and you can browse the dll, make a note of the number associated with the icon and put that as the extension on teh command.

Links to Slider Icons?
samsamuel: Have you been able to create shortcut to slider icons, specifically the HTC email and Settings apps? I've been able to create a link to settings but the icon is incorrect.

if you mean the big icon that comes up mid screen when you slide, i think they are held in the manila files. (Look in windows\ there are loads of files called xxxx_manila, all those files are what makes up manila, code, graphics, everything.)
Very good work.
All links in cab file would be great !.

hehe, it would, but the missus is upstairs on the sofa, 12 hours into labour, so if you dont mind i'll maybe leave that for a while.
This is an easy question for some of you guys but I cant solve it,I have installed SPB mobile shell v3.5.5 and need to type in my owner id but can't find where to.I have looked everywhere.Do I have to do a hard reset and use contacts and "Me" then reinstall all my info or is there an easy way
Heres hoping.
Don
Hi Don, I had this exact issue and firstly it is possible, I did it.
Secondly I may not have done it the slickest of methods but at least this gets you there. I've tried to recall two routes depending upon where you are starting from.
a) HTC Sense UI:
If you are still in the original UI (HTC Sense) scroll sideways to the "Setting" tab. Touch the "Menu" softkey (bottom right) then "All Settings". You should then see a selection of icons from which touch "Today". That will get you to the old Today settings. See below for next steps.
b) SPB Mobile shell UI
If you are in this shell instead, hit "Launcher". You should now see an icon labled "Settings" (else swipe sideways to the second page to see it). Hit that takes you to a screen with more icons including one for "Today" with a cogwheel on the top of it. Hit that takes you to the old Today settings. Now see below.
Today Settings
Once here. Hit the "Items" tab. Remove any tick on the "HTC Sense" option (else the originally Today Screen won't appear later) and then tick the "Owner Info" option (and any others you fancy). Click on "OK" should now get you back to the old Today screen with the "Owner Info" today plugin showing. It can then be selected and the necessary info add. You can then go back into the today settings and re-tick the HTC Sense item if you want the original UI back and not the Today screen. Personally I use the SPB shell and the today screen rather than the HTC Sense.
I did this a long time ago so my recall may be a bit fuzzy for example; if the "Owner Info" isn't visible in the list of Items in the Today settings (it may not be) then you'll have to go into a reg editor (if you are comfortable doing such things) and navigate to :
[Mobile Device\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\]
Then ensure that the key "Owner Info" is present (add if necessary) and enable it (disabling "HTC Sense" at the same time as it seems to overide any other selection). If the key is missing (or you don't have a reg editor) and you need help at this level just drop me a line and I'll post a copy of my settings and suggest a few methods of accessing your registry.
Good luck.
Anybody found an easir way?

settings - menu - all settings - personal - owner
Sam,
Thanks but my phone doesn't have "owner" at the end of your sequence. I suspect Don is having the same issue (hence me originally having to go into the reg to get access to it to fix mine as nothing obvious was accessible). FYI this is independent of how I get there (through HTC Sense, SPB Shell etc).

PS I have an unlocked HD2 (none carrier specific) which looks to have originally been packaged for the German market (I'm in the UK and bought it online)
Just to add ti the conversation, my HD2 does not have the Owner when Igo to Personal either.
Ahh course, my mistake.
Hints tips reg tweaks sticky in Q&A section, tip 5 to unhide that option kindly hidden by HTC.
Thanks Mallow1 That did it,thank you all very much.I went to Today ,items and ticked HTC sense that gave me the chance to go to contacts and add the Me details.
