Imate JAM - SMS Problem - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I have been using my Jam for about 6 months, at first times everything was fine but for 3 motnhs i can send SMS but can not get ! I tried a lot of possibilities ( checking the SIM card on other phones, using another SIM card on JAM, reinstalling the GPRS & WAP settings, checking the SMS center # etc. ) and the device is fully funcitonal but so far nothing solved my problem. I love my phone and this little problem makes me very upset. I hope its not a hardware problem, it seems to me like an interfered and disfunctional network settings made accidentally by me, but im not sure. Please someone have an idea to end this problem help me !

Corrupt inbox?
It could as well be your settings I guess but if nothing else helps maybe you have the more extreme problem I had...
I got a corrupt inbox after doing a restore using an older version of pocket backup (turned out to be a well known problem...). The OS just throwed away incoming SMS's due to the corruption. Had to hard reset to get it working again.
Try to send a sms from a friend's phone with delivery notification set, and see if the sms is recieved or not. If it is noted as recieved by your network but not displayed in your inbox you could have the same problem as I did. /Patrick

Thats right. Sprite Backup, restoring causes this error but they fixed it in their later versions. If your problem arised after a restore, head into sprite' website and they have a small tool to flush inbox, distributed to those who got this sms error.
If not, a hard-reset could solve the problem!

I did hard format Carty, even 3 times since the problems begins, i hard formatted the device and reinstall the ROM, it didnt change the situation.

JJ Freezes on Arrival of a new SMS

Now that the honeymoon period is over I have started noticing a few problems with the JJ. The most serious I noted is that when the JJ has gone through some use after its last soft reset it tends to freeze when a new text message arrives in the in-box. This does not happen when the JJ has been freshly soft reset and only when some time has passed since it was last soft reset. Since I have set the unit to vibrating alert on receipt of a new message the vibrator continuously starts operating and the phone freezes. To stop the vibrator you need to do a soft reset again.
Anybody had this problem??? I am planning to do a hard reset and see what happens.
Regards
Definitely related to some software that you have installed. I use sms everyday and havent faced any such problem.
Yes it does freezes your device when you receive new SMS, some time even I lost the SMS which was coming tru,..
Once I lost the MMS Account itself, then had to go for softreset and got it back again...
I've had the same thing happening. Very annoying. That's just Microsoft as we know it. We can't get out of the habbit of frequent softresets.
I did a complete ROM upgrade today and I replaced the Arabic ROM which came preinstalled on my JJ with the english version as available at the clubimate site. Without installing any 3rd party software I tested the SMS freezing problem and unfortunately it is very much there. This at least proves that no 3rd party software is to blame for this.
Now I am thinking that maybe I will have to dispose of the JJ as I so much depend on text messaging. The worst part is that as the JJ freezes on arrival of a new SMS the message itself is also lost and after doing the soft reset you can never tell from whom the message was.
I will really appreciate if anyone can help
Kind Regards

If you have an SD card inserted try removing it and see if the problem persist.
What i dont get is why this problem is unique to a very small percentage of devices. Many of use the device for SMS quite frequently and dont face this problem. I wonder what the triggering factor is.

I have this problem since I updated my ROM.
I posted this a few days back that the Jasjar tends to hang not all the time but most of the time when a new SMS arrives and in fact the SMS is also lost when you recover after a soft reset.
I thought that I will re-post this question because now more users would have had more experience with their Jasjars. For me this problem does not seem to go. I have tried even a hard reset and the problem keeps coming back even with no third party software installed.
I shall be obliged if anyone else who has had this problem may kindly post his views because this may put some pressure on the people at i-mate to come up with a fix. I fear that since this problem is being faced by a very small minority of JJ users a fix may never see the light of the day.
Kind Regards
I have a himalaya device with WM5 and have the exact same 'sms-lockup' problem.
Also, somethimes all the incoming calls are forwarded to my voicemail, even when my phone ison and the signal is strong and im not using my device. This can only be solved by a reset or after i made a call myself. Till that time no-one could call me!
The problems started when i installed another WM5-rom and a new radio-rom( 1.18 ). This was the first time a upgraded the radio-rom, so i think this could be the problem.
Im going to install the older radio-rom ver1.08 (recommanded in combi with WM5 by buzzdef.net). I hope this solves it!
I to have the same problem... Every time you open a new text message or even after sending message and when you get delivery report it freezes and you will have to reset.. but if you are in the middle of a call the phone still works fine but not able to use the PDA part because its freeze...
Have installed another, older, radio-rom( 1.08 ) and used it for almost a week... no freezes sofar!! I dont know if this rom can be used for a Universal device...
Just uncheck the "turn off device after..." option in battery settings and this problem will go away.
This was pointed out by user Khaled in another thread.
im also experiencing this after i upgraded to Second Edition. my Himalaya tends to freeze when receiving SMS. applications starts to slow down but will eventually recover after the SMS receipt notification, no need for softresets. i also noticed that currently, it would take about 10 seconds before SMS notification appears in the screen. im sure about this because i would know that an SMS is coming because my computer monitor, adjacent to my XDA, would flicker. so the turn-around time from the flickering of the monitor to the SMS notification would last around 10-12 seconds. is this normal?
I was so fed up with the SMS freezing problem that I sold my Jasjar, albeit at a much loss and exchanged it for a new one.
Just my bad luck the problem is also there on my 2nd Jasjar. It is exactly the same as the one I have sold. When I get a new SMS the unit freezes and has to be soft reset. Please note that this does not happen every time but say 1 in 10 times. Anyways this makes the whole system very unreliable. When your phone is in your pocket and an SMS causes it to freeze you will never know if now somebody tries to make an urgent call because your unit is not responding.
I have also tried the remedy / fix mentioned in this fourm to to Uncheck Turn Off Device but does not work.
My only hope is that this problem is fixed in the next ROM upgrade.
In the meantime I am evaluating prospects of leaving the WM platform altogether and going for a Nokia 9500
a friend just adviced me that it was my Radio version that is causing the problem. 1.18 has a lot of bugs including this freezing issue. so he suggested that i reflash my ROM and go back to Radio version 1.17. could somebody point me where the bug issues of 1.18 are listed here in the forum? thanks

Problem with incoming SMSs

Maybe someone could help me with this:
after using the Qtek S100 for some time I can't receive SMSs anymore, only send them. If someone sends me an SMS my device would wake from standby, the screen would turn on but no SMS can be seen in my inbox. Only a hard reset would help.
Anyone recognizes this problem?
you bet I do
see my posts and many related in here -
strangely nobody seems to acknowledge that problem-
you describe EXACTLY my symptoms and the ones of a few others.
I had my XDA repaired by O2 twice (which did not solve the problem) and now they have agreed to exchange it. I am now just worried that on reading here in the forum that this is a general problem with the XDA - receveiving SMS when waking up. Proof is - put it in a spot where the reception is weak and switch it off. Send two messages to yourself - it will wake up, loose the network, re- aquire and ONLY receive the second message - although you will get two delivery messages.

I have had the same problem. I discovered that it was caused by a backup software, i don't remember if it was sprite backup or something else.
Hope it helps
Bye
@Karol
Karol - yes there were references in the forum to backup SW -
but I can recreate this behaviour at will on a "virgin" XDA after a Hard reset BEFORE any SW is loaded or even a first Active sync. So this instance of the problem is definitely not related to any installed SW
Dear All,
thanks for your replies. It is indeed a tricky thing.
One thing I observed is that after a hard reset it works for some time and then it happens again. The periods that its working are variable. Sometimes even for weeks. I tried to do a Sprite backup while it's working, hoping that a restore would fix the probelm. Well, it doesn't. A restore of a backup done while it works will not fix it.
In my case only a hard reset helps.
So, what Iive done now, is make a SPRITE backup WITHOUT the "Email" section and a backup with xBACKUP, the standard backup software in the Magician. When the problem appears, I will try both and give feedback.
Regards.

SMS blocked... or lost!

Hi Guys,
i have a MDA Vario and I love that thing. But I recognized with the time.. that SMS are blocked. Over night I turn off my phone and when I turn it on the next morning, no message is coming. A lot of my friends asked me if i got their message last night.. They sent it to me after i have turned it off. And on the morning i didn´t got anything. No message.
Last week i registered myself on a Website where a SMS-Registration was necessary. I clicked on "send the Message". The MDA Vario blinked up.. and I expected that it will ring and signalize the message. But nothing. I never got a message. The SMS is lost till now. And i´m afraid that there are some more messages which got lost.
Does anyone recognized the same Problems like me? Or can anybody help me? :?:
Thx
Maresch
where are my new messages?
got the same problem. SMSs just stopped comming. i started using sprite backup - the only change in used programs.
hardresetted device works, but after restore: no go. even microsoft activesync backup restores settings with no SMS...
any thoughts on this?
b
This MAY NOT be your case, but...
Sometimes (although the "nice" people at Sprite Software won't recognize it), after restoring a backup made with sprite backup, the SMS inbox folder (and sometimes even other folders like draft and trash) stop working. The effect varies:
you may see "x messages unread" but the new messages are not visible.
you may never see new messages.
the new message notification can stop working, with or without the other symptoms.
recovering from this problem is difficult: the easiest way is, ofcourse, and hard reset. if you want, SMS Organizer can still extract the messages from the damaged database most of the times.
SMS lost - not received
This is interesting - I have posted exactly the same behaviour - only some SMS received.
I can recreate the problem that you describe almost at will - It is not related to any backup software - it happens on a "virgin" XDA after hard reset without anything being loaded or even an Active sync attempted.
bottom line is: put your XDA in a spot where the reception is weak and switch it off. Send two messages to the phone. It will wake up trying to receive the first message. It will loose the network and re-aquire, but no SMS will be received. (although a confirmation message will be sent) - as it is awake now it will receive the second message. The first one will be lost forever.
I have upgraded ROM to no avail. I had it in for repair twice - still same problem. O2 has now agreed to exchange the unit. I will keep you posted.
My concern on reading this is, that this is an issue with the unit itself.
Certainly hope I dont have any issues as I send and receive a lot of sms messages and any kind of failure like this would mean the phone being sent back and contract cancelled unless I can find a different phone that interests me. Unlikely as I was only considering this or the XDA Exec.

SMS Problems

Hi,
I've been searching for some time now how to resolve my problem but without any result. The problem is that I have to wait very long time ( 1 - 24 hours ) to receive any sms even when the screen is on. Please tell me what should I check on my phone and how to resolve it. I’ve got a HTC Touch HD ( Blackstone )
Thanks
Anyone can help me ??
I think that has to do with your provider since your screen is on.
I remember this happening to me a few years ago, my provider asked me to input a series or numbers starting/beginning with * and # and the send key. Apparently it cleared up the sms cache of my mobile on the network.
I've spoke to my network provider and it seems to be ok but it is not ... still. Any other suggestions ?
Can you try a friend's SIM in it just to be sure? And try your sim in another phone.
ya worst case worst, hard reset or change ur sim cardd
ok .. .I'll try another sim, but this one is working on another phone.
I have a sim lock so i could only try another sim from the same operator and it is still not working. But my sim on another phone ... not htc ... is working perfectly. So what now ?
I'm not sure whether this could be the problem you are experiencing but it may be worth a try.
I'm with Orange and had a problem at the beginning of last week when I noticed some SMS messages weren't coming through for up to 24 hours whereas some continued to come through as normal (even from the same people). I also noticed that I had voicemail messages that I had not been notified of. Up until this point everything had been working fine so I contacted Orange. After a few pointless calls where they tried to send SMS messages to the phone with settings (not ideal if you're having a problem receiving them) I finally got through to somebody who explained that sometimes a problem can occur (he wasn't able to explain what unfortunately) and he provided a solution.
I was asked to delete all SMS messages from my phone (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Deleted etc.) and enter in a code on my kepad which I believe may clear the SMS cache allowing system messages to come through. I then had to turn my phone off for 15 minutes then turn it back on. A system SMS then arrived which I had to delete, turn my phone off and back on again and the problem was solved.
From what I could gather from the guy at Orange it was a problem relating to the handset which can occasionally happen which may explain why your sim works correctly on another phone.
I hope that info is of some use to you.
and what was that code ?
Ok ... I think I’ve found the bug. I've done a hard reset and its working now. The problem was that I’ve put my sim into the device while installing touch flo 3D and this was the problem. This time I've done the hard reset without the sim and SD card. And I put them back when device was ready to run. In that way the problem just disappeared. So I think that my sim card was making some installation problem. Now I receive messages immediately. This solution also resolved another problem with backup. I'm using a Sprite Backup and before hard reset I couldn't make a backup ... some of the files was missing or couldn't be attached to the backup file. Now it's working perfectly. I'm writing this because I’ve found another topic about backup problem but without any solution. So maybe someone will find this threat.
So if You encountered problems with messages take out Your SIM card and SD cart and do the Hard Reset and wait until the second reset ( first reset is for WM6.1 install and the second is for HTC Customization ) After that put Your SIM and SD back. This will also solve problems with backup and maybe other problems.

No program memory available when starting Outlook calendar

my handset seems to be plagued with problems since flashing new official ROM. When i try to start Outlook calender i get the message telling me there is no program memory available. Checking the Task manager and there is nothing running. I also have other problems such as incoming calls divert to my voicemail even though i full reception, handset freezes. Pressing a key to wake the screen results in the buttons lighting up but the screen not coming on... only thing to do is soft reset to get it working again. Still waiting for HTC support to come back to me on this. This must be the most unreliable HTC ever. Ive been using HTC devices for 5 or 6 years. They all seem to have there quirks but something that i could live with. This just doesnt perform basic tasks like receiving phone calls..thank god the messaging seems to have been sorted out now though. Is anyone else experiencing these issues or am i on my own here.
If you are still running the stock rom, I would consider getting it replaced, if you have flashed a new rom, then consider going back to the original rom and trying again.
edit - just read the bit about updating - i'd try reverting to teh original, and then try the update again. If it still persists, try getting it replaced.
Rom Downgrade
Thanks. I understand that its not possible to revert to the original ROM once this has been upgraded. The original ROM gave me problems with the sms and also the calls diverting to the voicemail. Im not sure the new rom is the problem here but it certainly seems worse since updating. I'd agree that the phone certainly seems to have faults, maybe HTC will take it for repair. I was interested to see if anyone else experienced these issues to try to see if its a hardware problem or just bugs in the software
THere is no problen downgrading, find your stock rom, extract the RUU_Signed.nbh file, copy it to your sd card, rename it leoimg.nbh, reboot the phone with down volume pressed, it will find teh file and downgrade to how the phone was when you got it.
Just make sure you get the right stock rom.
same problem
i have the same problem on my hd2. running orginal 1,66,409,1 rom(that came with the phone).
only thing i have installed is SPB shell and the dytty(?) 3d driver.
exiting mobile shell does not help. haven`t tried uninstalling the shell.
I have 200MB avbl memory so dont think that is the problem.
did it help downgrading or did they take to repair?
no one has a fix here?
I had the same problem with my new HD2. I emailed HTC and was told to uninstall and reinstall Activesync. It seems to have worked- I haven't had this error message for a week now.
active sync on the unit? I did a hard reset, worked after that.
I am having the same problem.
Opening outlook calender gives me the error message "no program memory etc..."
Does this problem lead to activesync not working on the phone itself? Mine does.
I called HTC they told me to hard reset. This is not the first time it happened and I believe its not the last.. Since I bought this a month ago, I have Hard reseted countless times...
I uninstalled and reinstalled Activesync on my computer- the HTC tech help seems to think there was a problem when I downloaded/ installed Activesync initially. I was Activesync'ing with my previous phone and it was ok so I'm not sure why there was problem with the Leo.
When I had the problem- I hard resetted the Leo countless times. After uninstalling/ reinstalling Activesync on my computer, the problem seemed to have resolved. It's been about 2 weeks now and all is running smoothly.
FYI, here is the email from HTC:
Regarding your concern, there could have been a glitch during the download that’s why this happened. Uninstalling and reinstalling the ActiveSync software usually resolves the issue. Always make sure that when you do the download and installation of the software, the handset is not connected to the computer. Thank you for contacting HTC. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any future questions
