Best TomTom compatible GPS receiver - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Until a few weeks ago, I had an XDA IIi with TomTom 5 GPS receiver and software. My phone and GPS were both nicked (along with my car and £4,000 worth of other stuff) after getting broken into.
I have now got an XDA Exec. The memory card that was in my phone was a backup onto a larger card, so I still have the original software and am trying to get back onto my SatNav as quickly and as cheaply as I can (unless cheap is not necessarily the way to go).
I am considering buying this car mount for the phone, but the GPS in the pic looks nothing like my old one. This got me looking into alternative GPS receiver and it seems like there are quite a few, but I don't know what would be compatible.
So, any advice on what receiver to get? Also, do you think there would be any problems with putting my XDA IIi TomTom software onto the Exec?

That`s the mount I use,and it`s AWESOME! Perfect fit, clear built in speaker, ver solid when mounted.
I use this receiver from ebay ---> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....geName=MERC_VIC_RSCKCK_Pr12_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT
Never had a single problem setting up TT5 or using it on my Exec.I would definately recommend the above 2 items.

The listing doesn't mention being compatible with the XDA Exec. I presume you are 100% certain?
Also, the mount I posted a link to looks like it is for a certain type of GPS. How does it actually fit in, and is it a neat looking job.

I just tried it.. it is awesome....
to bad it's not free any more
This program will be much easier to use, if the PDA's screen is large..
using this program on a small screen like the magician's will be useless IMHO
Should be fairly easy to re write. Will try to investigate later!

PPC Tablet
You might want to try this, it's a commercial product, and as such it serves the purpose well.

It has several predifined layout :a drawing tablet, touchpad, numeric pad, presentation controller, windows media controller. You can even create your own layout or modify existing one.

Yep, you should give it a try if you're bored one day or another. The trial works OK... I like the idea of using the XDA as a universal remote for the laptopo via the design mode but as a pure Graphical tablet the thing sucks. And aside from this I have trouble getting decent connections. Direct connections over ActiveSync (USB or Bluetooth) for some reason are the most dodgy. And if they work they are hopelessly sluggigh - i.e. a few pixels movement a second. If you get to work on this, lemme know. I might have the odd idea for a feature.

AT&T 8525 For Sale

I figured I would give this website first shot at it before I listed it on e-bay.
I'm selling my AT&T 8525 since I just bought a 8925, I wanted one for a long time now.
Either way, its in 100% working condition, has the SPL and RADIO listed in my sig, and is currently flashed with a pretty blan wm6.1 rom, Obviously I can flash it with whatever you want before it ships or you can just overwrite it when you get it.
The case has been replaced on it for a Black HTC housing vs the AT&T 8525 one that had some scratches on it, This one is still in very good condition, (I'll send you the old housing if you want it.) Only wear mark is on the letter T on the keyboard from where it slides open. I had the screen replaced once from it getting cracked and this one has had a screen protector on it for its full life so it looks brand new.
I'll add to this thread tonight with some pictures, I currently don't have my camera on me.
I'm also including a Pharos GPS BT dock and a Microsoft GPS adapter, to use in conjunction with either Live Search, or Google maps. Always worked good for me. The BT unlock code for the dock is the factory code, I'll try to find and Include the box and instructions for that if I can find them.
The phone will come with the original box I got with the unit, and booklet, a charger, and wired headset if I can find that as well.
Any questions or requests, send me a e-mail, [email protected]
Guaranteed 100% not DOA I'll package it so NOTHING will happen in shipping.
I'm looking to get $200 with free US Postal Service shipping, with insurance.

3d-printed wide-screen car-holder

Not being able to find a car-holder that would hold my Touch Pro in widescreen
with the keyboard extended firmly and still allow for a power-cable,
I designed this car-holder.
It ataches to anything that can carry a camera (1/4") and to the slide-in car.holders
from HAMA (they sell suction cups, air-hole -attachments, glue-ons and screw-ons).
You can attach the supplied and wider third-party cabless, reach the power-button
and it even comes with a hole to keep yout touch-pen.
If anyone wants one of these,
I can print them for 35eur+postage on my 3D-printer.

You don´t seem to have that printer for a long time yet to not know http://www.thingiverse.com/
It´s the first place to look for the STL-files of things ment to be printed.
Didn't think to look there. I thought you would've posted a link in here, but oh well.
Thanks!
IGES or STEP
Hi, is it possible to get a IGES or STEP File from you. I want to make one at Work, but from aluminum, with a CNC Mill.
My CAD/CAM Software takes STL files, but import of STL is not the best. It works better with IGES or STEP.
At the moment I am working on a Desktop Dokingstation, its not ready but will be in a short period of time. Will post it here.
Like this?
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2195
It´s the original Alibre Design files.
With milling you´d have to work very deep in the material without your toolhead touching the sides
and you certainly have to run multiple faces. I don´t think that will work well.
I´m using my Touch Pro only for development now that I switched to the Nexus One.
I have to say that it pretty cool stuff. Nice work Marcus. What cool times we live in when you can design and fab your own accessories for your phone. Thanks for sharing.

Noticed some bugs today..... :(

OK so biking to work today noticed a few different bugs I had not noticed so far, coming from iPhone I had never experienced these problems with Apple.
My bluetooth simply will not auto connect to my garmin 510, I have to go into both devices and "forget" paired devices and reconnect a fresh, every time I turn either device off/on.
Headphones crackling at high volume (which isn't really that high to be fair) can't be the headphones as there very high spec. Atomic Floyd HiDefDrum
Just tried to compose an email (original email client) and as I write the email the cursor moves by itself back into the middle of the line im writing making it impossible to write a full line??? WTF?
TBF, at the beginning of this note I seem to compare to Apple, but thinking about it these are basics that should work on any device, I have been perfectly happy with the S4 up until now.... But the 3 jobs I wanted it to do properly today, it's failed at....... miserably!!
OK, So I've managed to write my email. Had to switch to original samsung keyboard (from swiftkey)
Can anybody replicate this error using original email app/swiftkey

I think I've read one or two complaints about the cursor issue. You can just install another keyboard from the Play Store. Thats the joy of android..
About the crackling, there's a whole thread on that topic. It seems that the S4, majorly the qualcomm LTE version I think, has crackling issues when you use headphones with a resistance lower than 14-16 ohms, so you're out of luck as of now until that issue is sorted by Samsung. You can find more info here, just search for it next time:

Is very comfortable, you can carry in a pocket. When you see bugs just spray all over it with this magnificent product.
(But remember, this is not for internal use)

Does anyone know if I can use my phone as a keyboard/mouse for the MK908?

I just got an MK908 and wanted to use my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) or my Nexus 7 tablet as a wireless or bluetooth keyboard for the MK908. Does anyone know how I can do this? I would like to avoid buying a mini-keyboard.

Droidmote Client works well. It works much better than the free alternatives out there.
In the end, however, I ended up buying a Logitech K400 keyboard b/c it worked even better.

Hello
I am in the same situation.
And yes it is possible.
Droidmote is a solution.
I am trying RKremotecontrol. I just installed it yesterday evening but I didn't had enough time to test it.
It seems to work but I don't know yet it it's a good way.
I got an example in youtube but , I am a new user here and I can't post a link
Search for this keywords: "Remote control app for RK3066 on MK802 III "
N.B: (This tool is installed in a MK908 custom rom from a certain Finless)
Tell us what you try
Yes you can, there is several solutions, search the Playstore (Droidmote, Tablet Remote) or what LeTFiD told you : RKremotecontrol, a dedicated/native solution for all RK devices.
