Basically What I am trying to do is get a replacement for messaging on the today screen on my wizard and say want to replace it with Icons or one icon that with indicate an sms, mms, email etc is present.
Any idea's ??
There r various softwares present like Spb , Wad etc .... by which u can cofigure ur today screen as u like .
What exactly is WAD, I am using SPB Pocket Plus but does not seem to have the option of indicating messages, when I have the messaging indicator enabled ?
WAD is wisbar advance desktop search google for that ,its justlike DesktopX which v use for Win XP.

Hey guys,
I love the functionality of HTC Home. However, I wished that the clock part of HTC Home is slimmed down so that there is more space for the today screen?
Is there any fix or alternative software that can please this soul?
Thanks
hpr
wisbar advance desktop...
its great, basically its a launcher that replaces today, but you can embed today plugins in it, so you could make the clock with a small font, then icons for the home tabs underneath, which correspond to programs, or docks, which arer small boxes that appear which have more shortcuts in them..
just a suggestion
x
Does it have a section for fast contacts ? I've seen phoneAlarm, has most of the stuff except the contacts part. That's what I love because when I'm in the car its easier to make a call.
hotplainrice,
I must admit I don't use the home plugin as I find it rather crude in its look and function. I use a combination of SPB Pocketplus, SPB Mobile Shell, and their telephony plugin (can't remember what its called but checkout their website). I must admit my device is highly customised; however I like it just the way it is.
Have tried to use Wisbar but found it a pain to get the look and functionality that I have been looking for. However I have seen a lot of good stuff on the Wisbar forum so please keep an open mind.
Cheers
WB
yer erm you can make docks with contact pictures, so ive got mine set up to look like an iphone, ive got the phone button which goes to phone, or opens the dock with favourite contacts, then ive got sms, lock/internet, media player and finally my programs dock. And in my programs dock, i have a link to another page on WAD [it can have many pages] which has all my windows today plugins.. so has speed of the iphone and the functionality of windows.. so to answer your question, it does have easily accessible contacts, but you have to customise it yourself..
x
I once used HTC Home Plugin, but troubled with the weather panel, so I uninstall it, and imo, the closest app to HTC Home plugin is SPC Mobile SHell 1.5 + SPB Phone Suite. Closest to intersface, yet more powerful ability...
just like those two guys, i use spb programs... when i said i had today plugins on a seperate page, i meant i have spb pocket plus 4, with diary and weather integrated into it..
spb programs are great
and wisbar is a pain, but once its done, it works perfectly
x
There is of course the other HTC app "HTC Plus!" Clock, shortcuts and links to message folders without taking up the entire screen. Doesn't have the weather functionailty or music player control tho
rltoday has a skin that is like HTC Home but is slimmer. Might want to give it a look.
Check out HTC Plus! SHould be on the forums somewhere
Thinking of going down the wisbar way. HTC Plus is too simple, no contacts tab. Thanks guys for the replies.
i can send you my theme if you like.. i paid for it, but dont mind sending it.. just so yoou can get a go before you commit to buy it... but you'd still need to get the wisbar codes (10usd each).
rory

Hey, that was cool, I'd like to have HTC Home Plugins Theme for WisBar Desktop... would you like to share for me too? tq =)
My last WisBar Desktop Theme was modified iPhone theme, create 3 virtual pages; Welcome screen, App shortcut, and Agenda (put pocket breeze plugins there)
thx!

The apps that make it look like that are:
Phonealarm with a mod of Macguffin's DoNotTouch skin
found here http://www.pocketmax.net/smf/index.php?topic=4662.0
PS. There have been some changes in donottouch skin that are not published too.
The 2nd plugin is Pocketbreeze 5.3.0.6
have quite a few 3rd party plugins incorporated to pocketbreeze (weather panel, info reader, spb backup plus).
Unfortunately the mods that i did to get the feel is not published. So if you're interested i'll pass you the files, all i need is your email.
The 3rd is Batterystatus.
Of which have modified the xml to get this look and feel.
The top bar consists of:
mytools 1.5.1 - use this for battery uptime and connection uptime (when available). Have got some custom icons for the ok/close soft buttons.
indibar 2.7.0 - for the RAM and Battery meters, as well as the cascading start menu.
The bottom bar consists of Saman's WM5NewMenu.
i think that about covers it.

juat want to share this link http://iwindowsmobile.com/
they have a couple of apps for making you love windows mobile
i prefer this today screen than PointUI's
Here is my today
wanted it to be clean and nice.
First off, I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to the skinner guru, Greatbal, who had created so many beautiful skins, and without his inspiration, I would not have done it.
Limitations of use:
This works with 96dpi on a i780 and will not run at default 128dpi.
SPB MS 2.1.2 does not work on a i780 as it does not support square screen at that resolution.
Difficulties faced:
Greatbal's Omnia theme is based on the latest SPB MS 2.1.2 and therefore there are differences between his and my theme, most notably:
[1] Under Professional, the Calendar does not work.
[2] Going to the Program tab originally is linked to the MRU tab instead.
[3] Icons does not show at the bottom, with the exception of the profile tab.
While [1] and [2] were worked around, [3] poses the greatest problem of all, and as such the workaround solution is to abandon the use of separate additional tabs. Therefore instead of having 4 tabs + 1 profile tab, I have it as 6 tabs (Home, Calendar, Program, MRU, 2 pgs of contacts and Profile selection tab). Also, only the active tab will be colorised while non active tabs are in grey. The profile icon however is in color.
Under the Home tab, 1 professional and 2 simple (Digital and Analog) can be selected under the SPB Menu Settings. For the Professional, both the clock and the appointments will be shown. For the Simple Digital, only a larger clock will be displayed and for the Simple Analog, an analog clock will be shown.
Under the Calendar tab, the month calendar is at the top, while alarm and appointments are at the bottom, similar to Greatbal's QVGA Omnia theme.
Program tab is a 3 x 3 cells, and for those who wants a 9th icon, please do a search in this forum to get the registry required.
MRU tab is a 5 x 4 cells, making a total of 20 popular programs can be pinned.
There are 2 Contact Pages with a 5 x 4 cells making 20 telephone numbers can be stored per page.
The profile page is located as the last tab. I believe Greatbal's intention is good, where you can actually set your profile anytime and at anywhere.
Below are some of the screenshots:
Without further adieu, attached please find the zip files. As to the instructions on how to install, please refer to
this post. There is an attachment explaining the details on how to install.
Please let me know if there are any bugs or issues. I will try to answer them here.
Enjoy the skin.
Update on 25-09-08
Added dark theme with 7 bottom icons
Update on 19-09-08
Added Xperia-ish Theme (No Professional tab)
Update on 18-09-08
Added dark theme with white fonts.
Note that color changes can only be effected in WM6 settings>personal>Themes. The Themes in SPB MS 2.1 does not work.
Update on 17-09-08
Fixes bugs in the Lockscreen tab when no appointment is shown, the month calendar will show up.
Reduce the no. of tabs at the bottom. Gesturing does will go through the same cycle of the 7 pages.
Hi G00ndu,
Great!!! thanks for making omnia skin for i780. its looking very nice on i780.
Thanks again for your time and this great skin. Kudos..
Looks great
does it integrate somehow with SPB Phone suite?
DO you have to clear the "home" screen as explained in guide, or can i have some items there as well?
any way this can be scaled down for us 240x240 Treo people? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your compliment . Some users may feel the bottom icons are too cluttered and also there are just too many pages.
Time permitting, I may do alternative layouts (with lesser pages):
Layout A
1 x Home (with Professional, Simple Analog and Simple Digital)
1 x Calendar
1 x Program
0 x MRU (Some may not want MRU)
2 x Contacts pages
1 x Profile
Layout B
1 x Home
1 x Calendar
1 x Program
1 x MRU
1 x Contact
1 x Profile
Layout C
1 x Home
1 x Calendar
1 x Program
1 x Contact
1 x Profile

Nope it doesn't integrate with Phone Suite since I do not use Phone Suite at all. You can refer to Greatbal's Omnia theme where someone had updated the phone suite icons. You can try and download it and try.

My apologies, as my device is 96dpi with a cooked rom. Hence, I will not do a 240 x 240 theme.
Thank you for bringing this beautiful theme to all i780 user. It looks very nice.
As a i780 user, I always find that it is difficult to find theme to fit in our mobile. However, g00ndu, it is you who always give our mobile new looks with different themes, you are our hero !
Just want to say thanks for making the theme work or our beloved i780.

For those who find the bottom icons too cluttered, I have attached the qa_layouts to minimize the no. of icons. Scrolling by gestures would still be the same as the original, except that when we go into MRU or Speeddial2 the icons at the bottom will not be reflected.
Unzip the attached file and replace it with the one at spb directory.

Wow gone a couple of days and now it is finished. Great work gOOndu I admire your patients for working with spb ms. I just find it difficult to make changes and have to zip, unzip back and forth just gives me a headache. I know it took a lot of hard work to do this. Looks good and many people will be happy now.

1. Install RealVGA (with both 128dpi and 96 dpi).
2. Select RealVGA at 128dpi.
3. Install SPB MS 2.1.
4. Run SPB MS 2.1.
5. SPB MS 2.1 should run fine as it supports 320x320 at 128dpi.
6. Unzip the attached files to replace those stock dat files.
7. Go back to RealVGA.
8. Select 96dpi.
9. Automatically it will soft reset your I780.
10. Run SPB MS 2.1
11. SPB MS 2.1 will run under 320x320 at 96dpi mode.
For the download of RealVGA, refer to this post for the download.
Do note that under 96dpi, there are some who will find that the fonts are too small to read.
Hope this helps.

TO REMOVE LOWER TASKBAR
Dunno where everyone is looking and trying to figure out what, when dis app is easily available. u can easily remove lower taskbar on wm6 using nueNoBar 1.3.
Description:
nueNoBar disables the bottom bar on the today screen, giving you more space on the today screen. The softkeys are still functional in this mode.
nueNoBar is WM 5, 6 and 6.1 compatible, and should run on WM 6.1 builds 20000+ as well. nueNoBar is donationware, so please donate to support nueNoBar and nueRom development.
Please be sure to reset after you install if you are using the cab.
Changelog
1.3 Fix bottom alignment issue, fix bar sometimes appears.
1.2 Fix “service restart required” issue, phonealarm issue

We all know about WisBar but as always u need to buy it.
Description:
WisBar Advance brings new life to your device with extended functionality and the ability to change the look and feel of the OS.
What's new in WisBar Advance 3.3.1.1:
· Fixed a bug that caused the program to crash on startup.
· Removed "Desktop 2.x Theme" from the Theme Manager.
· Fixed a bug that could cause the skinning services to not be loaded properly.
· Added a headset icon for devices that support the status icon.
· Added a function to display the missed call indicator.
· Added a "Missed Calls" indicator button.
· The notifier buttons (unread email, SMS and voice mail) now read their information from some alternate locations on some WM 6.1 devices.
· Fixed a bug where the notifier buttons would not skin.
· Corrected a bug where the notifier buttons would be initialized to an incorrect value.
· Fixed a bug where the user menu icon on the Today screen would occupy a space above the system tray instead of residing in it (WM5 and WM6 devices only).
· Fixed a bug where the battery meter at the top of the screen would not resize properly when the screen's orientation changed.
· Added AppToDate support
· Fixed a bug where the shortkeys on the Today screen would not hide.
· Improved the WM6 rendering with the ability to detect a "flat" taskbar color.
· Fixed a bug where the network connection status icon was not always correct.
NOTE:
Now Wisbar does have option to remove lower bottom taskbar but still a line persists. This can be removed by nueNoBar.
