Embedded Visual Basic on WM5?

I searched but I can't find anything on this. I have a few games that I can't run because they open up an internet explorer page that says I need embedded visual basic. I thought I have heard before that embedded VB is not compatible with WM5. Is this correct? Is there any workaround to enable these programs to run?
For example a fun game I used to play on my Toshiba e300 a couple years ago, Icy Maze, gives me this error.

I modified the CAB file to allow installation on WM5. I tested it and it does let you install, I can't say if it will work with your programs though.

Awesome, thanks guys! I tried Kyphur's version of the cab and it works beautifully! I now can play Icy Maze and other great games that have not been updated.
Note: Must install this to main memory. If you install to storage card it will complete and say successful, but it won't work when you go to run the applicable program.

Are any of these great games freebies that you can share with us?
(Note that I am not asking for Warez or Cracks but Free/Shareware).

No need to apologize but I would recommend that if you post links that require you be a regisered user then please mention that.
I try to limit the number of site I am registered on.

Yup, this is a know problem with WM5 + eVB, as has also been pointed out in my article.

The default (latest) version will also work with WM5 - it's just that you can't install it on storage cards.

There're a lot of eVB games (see www.CeBeans.com for a LOT of them). I, however, would look for Death Drive first, as far as really decent free titles are concerned See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282115 for more info.

There were a lot of games on that site, among other things. The only problem is they all look the same or are very similar in gameplay.
Looking at your blog, it seems that you keep up with PPC gaming pretty well. I'll be downloading Death Drive tonight. What other freeware games do you recommend for the Wizard, in general? I'm not interested in trials, crippledware, etc.

i can not find the cab. an i can not figure out where to look plees put the cab up for download here. i have a Mio A501 if it helps

I have a MDA Mail and cant use your VB Runtime because my windows mobile version 5 is with a Featurepack for messeging ans securyty.
Can anybody help me?

I have tried to install the .cab to MainMem but the install terminates almost at the end after showing the error: Failed to load resource DLL MSDAERNO.DLL
Does anyone have any ideas??

If you don't mind can your share steps how to test official roms in this..can you?

This is nice ! You can select a folder to share, that folder is then avaible as storage card from file explorer. Just installed succesfull Pbar 1.5 on my emulator . This is just to COOL, you can install all progs that avaible for ppc, even glossy black bars works !!

I installed the TCPMP player on this thing, then put some movies in the folder for the Storage Card -- Freakin Works excellent. Its Cool. like having another mini player on my PC.

ii just installed the emulator..the Internet Connects through DMA...i would like to know how to load on OS in it as all the OS in it are in bin form..i also tried Dumping one of the rom..but alas it didnt

How did you guys get this to install successfully? I'm running Vista Ultimate and all I get is an app called Cell Emulator which does nothing when I click on it...Where are the images installed to by default?

the Cell emulator is in the tooll folder..the images are in Standalone Emulator images folder..the default installition directory is C:/Program Files/Windwos Mobile 6 SDk

FPSECE working on X1

I have manadget to have working FPSECE on X1. For everyone who have "cd-rom initialization failed" while runing iso files you have to add this in to the registry:
1. Go to string HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Loader\LoadModuleLow
2. add "LIBZ.DLL"=dword:00000001
Or simple way just import attatched reg file to registry.

How does it run on your unit? I havent tried it out just yet but may do so sometime this week.

About the same as on other devices i have run only GTA iso and it was about 20-25fps while playig with frameskip option set to 2 and screen set to landscape right, LFB driver chosen. It is playable but could be better, waiting for new version which support hardware acceleration. Also there is no problem with configuration of hardware keyboard as you wish, and it's not bad while playing on it.

What does mean? It can't just crash any device, it's just a litle tweak which enable to play iso files in emulator.

I put the program on my xperia x1 and i put the tweak in and the phone froze. I did this twice and has the same result. I seriously doubt that its the tweak its probably just the emulator.

I just went to the website and downloaded the last one i saw which i believe was .95

Yes, 0.96 is a beta but its stable. I am attaching it here.

When i go to File>Start ISO and select an ISO to play the program just closes. Any ideas?

That makes 3 of us.... i'm also having the same problems.

i had the same error. You have to copy the bios-file ("scph1001.bin" search it @google) in the Bios-folder. and choose it from options->bios. and than copy your iso file to iso-folder. and try to start the iso-file.
i had it but there is another error "Cd-Rom initialization failed"
i hope that helps you to find a solution

I did every fix mentioned in these posts and getting no errors, but also just a blackscreen (with 70fps~ ^^)

What should I do it my Wing.

I already flashed it to just stable, i have some apps on it, but nothing really done more then that.
Suggestions and links to some tutorials, or tell me how?

Well with some tweaking the Wing is really quite a great little device. First hit up the Cabs thread and try some stuff from there. I would recommend the following:
Midomi-Lets you let your phone "listen" to a song then tells you what the song is and who it's by and where you can find lyrics and download for it.
Nimbuzz-A GREAT freeware IM client that supports pretty much every thing under the dang sun.
Marketplace-Simply because its awesome and most of the good stuff is free.
Opera Mini-Because IE STILL sucks, and IMHO, IE6on6 is even worse than IE6 was.
Pocketwit-Nice Twitter client that has a cool Titanium home screen plugin that works with it too.
Uhm..hit up either that thread or http://wwwfreewarepocketpc.net or http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com for LOADS of stuff.

I dont have internet on my phone except for wifi.

how'd you get Pocketwit to install under wm6.5?? Everytime I try the install gets to 100%, then says "failed to run pockettwit.exe in /Storage Card/Pocketwit/pockettwit.exe"

Uhm, I just do heh. It's always just installed fine for me to my storage card. Now if you are talking about the homescreen link for quickpost, than yeah I get an error on that simply because its pointing to the wrong directory, but the program itself installs and works from the start screen fine. Maybe you should get a newer version from pocketpcfreeware...thats where I got my copy from.

Set it too USA and you will be able to download

I just installed it and except for new icons and "(beta)" in apps title i havent noticed any difference. Interface is still old one.

Is it only me who has the feeling that nothing is changed and have excel not working? When I open xml file, I get error and then excel crashes.

Yea, i have feeling that nothing changed too. About excel: it works, but on wm6.5 preinstalled office it gave me error on opening random xls files which worked without problems on PC. I havent tested with 2010 yet.

It looks like it's only on WM6.5. I'm not brave enough to flash and cook yet.

Just use MarketPlaceRegionSwitch v1.1 , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577627 to change the region of marketplace.
