I am trying to add a shortcut for the Clocks and Alarms on the tray. I added \Windows\clock.exe to PHM Traylaunch and it works fine but lacks the clock logo.
I then created a custom shortcut file with:
23#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,16,2?
This works as well but lacks the icon. I then tried this:
23#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,16,2?\Windows\clock.exe,0
Which didn't help either. How do I get a clock logo for this?
Also, want to remove the comm manager in the tray. I tired deleting Init_Tray and adding Power.exe and Power_Tray.exe to the TrayLaunch but it just displays a generic static battery icon. Any ideas on how to add the batery without the Init_Tray file?

If you checked clock.exe with a resource viewer you would see that it has no icon. I think the icon you want is in the control panel applet cplmain.cpl but for some reason these icons are not useable outside of settings.
Find an ico or exe with a suitable icon and use that. If you want i will provide you one and the resource viewer.

I downloaded that and made a new shortcut with:

I then copied clock.bmp to the windows directory and placed my new shortcut, alarm.ink, into windows/startmenu/programs but still no logo. Maybe I have a misunderstanding of creating shortcuts, but shouldn't this work?
Use this small exe - place it in \program files or other folder will give you an icon = use clock2.exe,0
edit made a link for you unzip the file.
Place clock2.exe in \program files and this will work :wink:

Thank you so much for this! I placed the Clock_alarm.ink in windows\start menu\programs. When I go to the program screen, it's there, with the logo and works as it should.
I then started PHM Traylaunch and added :
\windows\start menu\programs\clock_alarm.ink
it then shows up as a file instead of the logo in the tray and when I click on it an error syas that it can't be opened.
I think I must be doing something wrong that's completely obvious and stupid, but I just can't wrap my head around it.
Try putting the lnk in \program files and adding to traylaunch - perhaps it does not like linking to the start menu in your device.
Also where is your phm traylaunch installed? - should be in main memory not storage card.
I copied to Program Files (where traylaunch is stored) and I still have the same problem. I can add any exe file with no problem, it just seems that traylaunch will not allow Ink files?

Interesting - it works with mine no problem - what device and rom are you using? Mine worked better when I upgraded to aku2 rom.
Just spotted something you are writing ink it should be lnk, an L not an I!
Remeber when I said it was probably something stupid and obvious? I was using .ink (Ink) instead of .lnk (Lnk).

Anybody got this app working and showing the correct application icons. The help file says that the icons are pulled from a storage card - but as I do not have a storage card is there any other way of getting the correct icons?
Not sure about the source of the icons you have mentioned. AFAIK the icons are sourced from the program you add to the traylaunch list. Go to Start...Settings...System...Admin Tools...PMH TrayLaunch. Click ADD and you type in the exact path of the .exe you want to add to the traylaunch list, e.g. \Program Files\PHM Tools\TaskMan.exe. This will display the icon for this program.
I have it working for some of the programs but cant set up short cuts for things like new contact and other pathways within programs. pain trying to type the whole path in. Would be nice to see a "search for file" or somethin like that.
normally on the "Today" screen we can see "Conn. Manager" and "Battery" icons above the "Contacts" button.
the problem is that how to add/delete other shortcut icons in this tray, like File Explorer or Memory Status.

If you're not using English OS, it may have a different name.

i was wondering how can i put or create my own control panel entry or how to move control panel applets say from System to Personal..
is it possible to place shortcuts to EXE files in the Control Panel/Settings applet?
i would like to place all configuration applications (S2u2 settings, FtouchFLO Config, Battery Status Config, etc) in the Control Panel, since these are all settings/configurations, i feel that they should be within the control panel in one place and not scattered among other programs.
also, i would like to move the SRS WOW and MEMORY applets to the personal tab, because i always use them.. it saves me more clicks..

aah.. ok.. thanks.. then how can i link cpl extensions to exes? because some (default) control panel entries (ctpnl.cpl) are actually linked to exes like Power, Backlight, Beam, Clock, etc (which are all in \Windows directory)..
is there a way to do the same?
also, how can i move (place into other tabs) some other 3rd party entries in the control panel?
i found in the registry (\HKLM\Control Panel\) that SOME entries can be moved, by changing the 'Group' DWORD vaue in each key(0=personal, 1=system, 2=Conn)..
though some are still missing, such as Clock, Add/Remove Programs, and 3rd party applets (except Wisbar's Theme manager applet)..
where can i find these entries?

I was also trying to add a new entry in Control Panel and followed your instruction... It worked, I made one shortcut appear in System tab, under Settings. However, I wanted it to appear in Connections tab. Already tried to add the following entries in registry, but it didn't work.

You should have two programs in your \Windows folder, one called "htcPrograms.exe" and the other is "htcSettings.exe" These programs open the folder that is implied in their name, so if you create a shortcut to these programs it should work. Thay are down a bit.

Without that htcsettings file I don't think anything will work. And I also don't have that file. I just know that I've tried making a shortcut to the "settings folder" before and no one seemed to know how. The problem is its not actually a "folder". It's something else. You can make shortcuts to the individual .cpls but not the whole "folder"... The programs folder is actually a folder so you can just make a shortcut to that but the settings is a whole other ball game. If you figure it that that'll be great!
Do you have the file \Windows\folderview.exe? If so, this works on my Touch XL to shortcut to the programs listing - icon list, just as if you press programs in the start menu.
Hey guys, these two shortcuts exist. Go to windows, it's not in a folder, but down below the folders. Use your sidebar and scroll it half way down. Start looking for those two. Their about 3 to 4 files apart from each other. Roughly in alphabetical order. After you find them hold down on them with your stylus and copy them to whereever your like to create a shortcut for them. i copy them both to my documents and had no problem creating shortcuts to both of them. In my regular settings, I have changed registry settings so that I get 4 icons per row (Horizontal icon spacing, vertical icon spacing). How do I do that for these programs? In this thread ([Guide] How to create .LNK files and use parameters) you'll know how to make a full set of shorcuts for all control-panel settings items, and a ready-made set already there.
In this thread (Control Panel links and icons wm2003se and higher) you can also know how to associate those shortcuts with system icons.
Hence, for 'settings', just creat a new folder in \windows\start menu\programs\ named 'settings' and put inside all the control panel shortcuts.
Edit: The advantage of this wayis: You can map any single item of settings into the softkeys or a hardware button. So shortcuts become shortcut to your target within one touch.
For 'programs', just create a shortcut for the folder \windows\start menu\programs\ inside the folder itself.

I always wanted to be able to shortcut to start menu folders from within the manila program launcher but unfortunately it was not very straight forward to do.
I found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416092
and I've developed the ideas a little and come up with a cab which will allow you to link to your Connectivity, Games, Multimedia, System Tools and Utilities folders within the Start Menu from the manila program launcher.
First go to Windows/Start Menu/Programs and make sure you have the above folders, if you haven't you can create them. (Although I don't think it will matter if you don't, the shortcuts will just not point you at anything). You can then organise your .lnk files to your liking. If you haven't tinkered with your Start Menu set up already you will find that Games are organised into their own folder and everything else will be pretty much jumbled up. If you just want to shortcut to the Games folder just leave everything else as it is.
Then install the attached cab. This will provide you with a set of shortcut files that can be selected from program launcher as normal. (Thanks to Andrew-in-Woking and this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1782122 for the icons which I used).
I've tested on my Kaiser and TP2 and seems to work fine. Let me know of any issues.

You need to search for folderview.exe and open it with parameters if you want to display folders like games in the screenshot..

It's WM6.5 but the folderview.exe it utilises gives the folder a distinctly 6.1/6 look.
as for a path for settings i don't think there is one. i found control.exe which again gave a 6.1 view to settings but it messed up the icons and wouldn't show today settings. I've lookyed for a similar exe in the wm6.5 windows folder (presumably the one that is executed when the left softkey under the tf3d settings tab is pressed) but i couldn't find anything.
Anyone know what the equivalent exe would be?

I tried the 'extend to 64 icons' addition but ended up removing it because it slowed down the program tab activating too much for me. (Hence finding out about the shortcuts above).
This works on my HD but can't stand the icons. I would prefer to just have a standard folder icon. Anyone know how to change these?
I tried smaberg's approach and I got it to work with some modifications. I have a Sprint TP2 with 6.5 and manila 2.5.2012. Stock ROM but MANY cabs...
I used PHM registry editor to navigate to:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\...]
this folder contains folders 0-8 corresponding to placement of the quicklink.
edit each folder for different shortcuts changing these values:
DWORD: "ContactFavorType" = 1566658532 -Decimal
String: "DispName" = (whatever you want the link named)
String: "ExePath" = \windows\start menu\programs\games.lnk (tell it where to find the link you want to use)
DWORD: "HomeServiceType" = 1 -Decimal
String: "IconPath" = (point at whatever icon you want to use.. it works with .ico and .png)
DWORD: "IsSet" = 1 -Decimal

Thanks for the information. Am running a TD2 with WinMo 6.5, Manila 2.5.20113030.0 Stock ROM, Max Manila Themes v3.0 (which allows me up to 20 Quick Links) AND a largish number of .CABS.
I managed to create a shortcut to to Windows\Start Menu\Programs and located it in the Programs folder itself. I used Total Commander to do this and create a 'Programs.lnk'. I then defined a new Quick Link and assigned the Programs shortcut that I found with all the other programs in the usual place.
I used then PHM registry editor to navigate to:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\...] and located the relevant folder (which in this case was 11 or 0 - 19, as I have 20 Quick Links defined) and checked the values below that you mentioned in your post:
DWORD: "ContactFavorType" = a unique decimal
String: "DispName" = Programs
String: "ExePath" = \windows\start menu\programs\programs.lnk (it had correctly registered what I told it to)
DWORD: "HomeServiceType" = 1 (Decimal)
String: "IconPath" = \windows\start menu\programs\programs.lnk (not pointing to a .ico or .png...but funnily enough neither are any of the other 19 Quick Links?)
DWORD: "IsSet" = 1 (Decimal)
When I try to use the shortcut I get the error noted in a number of other posts, ie, "Either not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's components cannot be found...".
I am therefore wondering if it has to do with the lack of pointing to a .ico or .png OR that I may be trying to call the Programs folder recursively.
Any thoughts? I would love to get this working as with all the .CABS I have 20 short custs is not enough and so a link to the programs to be able to run infrequently used ones would be the icing on the cake.

ya, i'm seeing some other issues with this as well. I was cleaning house and deleting some unused cabs (i thought they were.) It looks like I had a cab that was doing some sort of voodoo. "shortcut to folders in manila.cab" If this cab is running, then it will work. It looks like this cab creates links (*.lnk) in your programs folder that redirects to another folder. ie.. games.lnk will redirect to games folder. You can still rename the link and change the icon with the reg tweaks. Apparently this was running when I set it up cuz it stopped working as soon as I deleted the cab. unfortunately, I'm not yet at a point where i know how to decipher a cab to figure how to do this myself.
