H700 doesn't pick up when opening boom - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I've been through several Motorola H700 bluetooth headsets now. The problem I have is that the headset doesn't seem to connect/answer an incoming call by opening the boom.
I searched many places and haven't seen anyone else with this problem with a Cingular 8125. I am at ROM v 2.25 thanks to this forum.
Anyone have any ideas?

thaks weird that ur having that problem...maybe the earpiece is defective...i have been using my h700 with my t-mobile mda since april..the only problem that i hav is that after about 30min of use, people conplain that i sound destorted

I have the same problem on my phone. Strangely though, it works on my wifes phone. I've got both of our phones setup almost identically except that hers is not overclocked to 240, and I haven't upgraded her to 2.25 yet. I don't thnk it's the 2.25 rom as I think I was having this problem before I upgrade my phone.
I'm going to try to change the overclock settings on my phone and see if it makes a difference. I think I've got my wife's set to 216. I'll post back here if it does.
If anyone else has any idea what's going on, I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks, keep us updated.

Quick update. I tried to answer calls with the device clocked to factory speeds and still had no success. After doing some searching, I found out this doesn't seem to be limited to just the 8125. Treo users are reporting the same problem. Interestingly enough though, people with RAZR's are apparently NOT having this problem. HMMMMMM
I really like the features of the h700, but if this is normal behavior, I'm probably going to have to look for something else, which is said because this is the first headset that you can turn the volume up TOO loud on. Not to mention I like the way you save battery life when closing the boom.

Sound plays faster at times

From time to time I have a problem where all my audio plays at 2x speed (or something faster than normal.) It starts happening with no "apparent" cause. It applies to all sounds, so my ringtones will go faster, the voice command voice is faster, and MP3's as well. It happens without any over clocking, or with over clocking for that matter.
It goes away after a soft reset but is still quit annoying. Anyone else have this issue, or better yet, a fix for this issue?
Thanx; Lew
thats happend to me once or twice, however..i dont soft reset...i just stop all running programs and its fine
Thanx for the reply. That don't seam to fix it for me. hmmm...
Same problem Here?????
I have the same problem when playing files off the storage card. So far, only thing that fixes it is a soft reset. Closing all open app's didn't do it for me.
I'm noticing the same problem as well, although I wouldn't say it plays TWICE as fast. To my musician's ear, it's more in the range of a whole step, which is common when 44.1KHz files are played back at 48KHz. Maybe there's a connection? I'd love to find out what's causing this.
As with others, the only thing for me that cures it is a soft reset. This is annoying, because it screws up the pitches of DTMF.

Same here. You'd think that with such a high tech device and for the price, you'd get a device that at least played music correctly.
Is that too much to ask? I was going to ditch my iPod video and Nano and use my 8125 as my mp3 player but not with this annoying glitch.
You'd even expect the default ringtone to ring at the correct speed!
But NOOOO!
A.
mine did this to only thinkg i did was applied some tweaks using tweaks2k
not sure if that was what did it or not
Check to see if your ringtones are on the miniSD verses the phone in the rings directory. It did that on mine and then I erased the ring out of the SD card and put it in the windows/rings directory and then it didn't do that anymore. Try and see. It fixed it for me.
Mine are in those folders and it still does it. I have done registry tweaks and it does it. My friend has done nothing except install Agile 5.0 and his does it too, it has to be caused by using your own homemade ringtones.
Nope. I use a stock ring tone (Old Phone) and it still does it.
In a word I can tell you what causes this: BUG.
I figured out how to make mine play the sounds at normal speed. I just connect the stereo headset and disconnect.
Let me know if it works for you guys.
try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46000&highlight=sound+fix
Has anybody tried the solution in the link provided by Nice Pants? I am hesitant to make a registry tweak that nobody seems to know too much about.
- J
I tried this registry fix and it didn't work. I believe the registry fix is used when your audio isn't working at all, not for this speed issue. I'm experiencing this speed issue as well. It's pretty annoying. Connecting and disconnecting the stereo headset solves the problem, but only temporarily.
You're right, I edited the registry using my directions, and after a soft reset my sound speed was back to normal, I came to realize after the same problem occured again, that it was actually the soft reset that was fixing it. I've only had this happen twice, and unfortunately I haven't been paying attention to what I was doing before it happened.
I currently have the summiter custom 2.17 ROM installed and I never had this problem with the stock cingular ROM. So... it's annoying, but I don't know if I have the patience to look through the registry for the fix, when this will probably be fixed by the "official" cingular ROM whenever it's released.
This is just another one of those issues that we as early adopters will probably have to live with (like the stupid battery icon, and no vibrate on push email).
I'll keep looking though, and if I eventually come up with a fix I will definitely post it here.
I am having this problem as well and posted a comment on Cingular's forum. This problem happened often on the stock ROM, but then seemed to go away when I upgraded to the 2.17 ROM. However, it has returned! It seems to happen randomly every day or two.
Initially (when I was using the stock ROM), I called Cingular's tech support and they forwarded me to HTC's tech support. The HTC guy was sort of rude and initially accused me of overclocking, which I hadn't done! He told me to soft-reset the device, which of course worked, then that was that. Incidently, I have tried overclocking since then and it does not affect audio playback speed. How about them apples? I am not overclocking anymore. I only did it as an experiment.
Also, this is my second device (I traded the first one in because of this issue). And based on the number of people that run into this, I believe the problem is fairly wide-spread, just most people don't pay as much attention to the audio as we do or perhaps reset their devices more often.
I wonder if a workaround can be created to exploit the solution of plugging and unplugging the headphones? Could somebody write an app that emulates the headphones being plugged in and unplugged? Or can somebody trap whatever messages the OS is sending around during that process and figure out which one "resets" the audio speed?
This is strange. I'm half wondering if it's a design flaw...
I hope this thread stays alive and somebody comes up with something. It is frustrating, despite being a "small" issue...
Personally I always have my headset in my pocket and just connect and disconnect, but I'd love to see this problem fixed. I have noticed on my device that the sound speeds up when EDGE disconnects and reconnects because I loose signal while using Agile. Does anyone have this problem and is not using Agile Messenger??
I don't even subscribe to EDGE services, I just use mine for the phone, text messaging, and wifi. And I notice that it started doing it about a week ago, in which i did a HARD reset. It of course went away, and i was thinking it might be some of the Tmobile addons in the extrom. but it seems that cingular is having same issue. I havent even bothered to call t-mobile because all im going to get is a rep who doesnt know anything. its not like they can write rom patches. I notice it came back the other day and i soft reset and it goes away. I want to let you know i've had this issue with a computer before. Someone a long time ago wrote an AC 97 sound driver for BeOS that i used on an old emachines. There was a bug in the driver that made audio play back 10% faster. It was completely software related so maybe someone in the board here who knows about the registry and drivers for this device could find a way to patch the bug.

so frustrated...

well after i upgraded to the 8525 from my old 8125 i have been trying to like this phone but its so hard... does anyone have any solutions for any of these symptoms??
dropped calls. dropped calls galore all of the time....
if i am using bluetooth and the call doesnt drop, the phone will shut bluetooth off randomly. sometimes mid-call and sometimes if i just let it sit.
any speed hacks or registry packs that i can download. i find myself missing keys while dialing because the phone simply cant keep pace with what seems to be (from my experience anyway) normal input of phone numbers.
i realloy fel bad asking all of this guys and believe me i have been trying to read up on all of this stuff and im just not getting it is there just a good complete 'package' that will upgrade all of the roms and possibly use wm6 as well? i believe that overclocking is not an option just yet but i just want to have this phone do what it should supposed to do. this site here seems to be the only support in the world for these devices and i just wish there was some class i could take to understand all of these bootloaders and stacks and everything else because i really want to learn but im just not getting it... im so frustrated- if it werent for the 3g speeds then i would just go back to the 8125 i am almost that fed up.
Check your version
I had a 8125 and upgraded to a Hermes. Initially, I was very disappointed with freezes, etc. Then I upgraded to the most recent released version 1.35 and a bunch of bugs and freezes went away. Check your version and good luck.

Full Bars but failed call?

Hey guys,
When i take the train my phone has no reception.
but when i get out of the station and wait, My phone gets full bars.
but i can't call anyone. It keeps saying "call failed, try your call again later."
my service doesn't show up, but the bars are full.
does anyone know why my machine is doing this?
thanks!
can somone please help me out. ny phone is pissing me off! I would stand one place waiting for it to search for signal but it never connects! I even have full bars!
my only way to solve this is to reset my phone!
I have full bars but it keeps searching. and no matter where I go I won't connect.
sometimes I have to keep hammering the send button to make a call.
can someone please help me out.
thanks in advance.
try put d sim card in other mobile to see if is from sim card or mobile...
it's most likely due to your radio rom. i use to have problems like this in the past. have weak signal around work. when i leave work, even though i get my bars back, it would take a while to actually be able to make a call.
recommendation 1) upgrade the radio rom on your phone. most people recommend 2.19, but i think that's what i use to have when i had weaker signal. signal would pick up and allow me to make calls considerable quicker in 2.25.11 and higher.
recommendation 2) in comm manager turn your phone off and then back on, when you get the signal back, you should be able to make a call.
When i turn on my phone the radio says 2.25. so am i using the wrong version?
I don't get it.
thanks
If you've upgraded to any version of windows mobile 6 then 2.25 is almost definitely your problem. Try using 2.19 or 2.69 as they seem to be the only ones that don't experience this problem. There are people working on a fix for the rest of them, but I'm not sure that they have finished the fix yet and the last time I read their posts the fix may only work on cingular or at&t when they do get it working.
Thanks, But im using WM5 with T-mo
sorry i left this info out.
so which version should i use?
Thanks in advance.

Then it should be pretty much fair game for whatever version you like. 2.69 is still the newest and seem to work pretty well. I have heard of pretty good results with the 2.4 something or other version as well but I would probably go with 2.69 myself.
Thanks,
is the faria 02.69.11.rar the correct one?
thanks
Yes, that one works very well, and the one that avatar28 was mentioning (the 2.4 something) is 2.47. I actually like that one better than 2.69 but it doesen't like to work with WM6.

LOL. Yeah, that one. Sorry, I'm a bit short on sleep at the moment and my brain's a touch fuzzy plus I've been away for awhile.
That's ok, just thought I'd help you out there a little. 2.47 is a really good radio version. I wish I could still use it because I got better reception and better recovery time from that one than every other one I've tried and I've tried them all. 2.69 comes in a close 2nd though.

My Damn Wizard!

I really think this deserves a thread on its' own.
I've been having some real crazy headaches and problems with my phone lately.
I updated my phone to TNT 5.0 with touchflo. I have WM6.0 with IPL / SPL 2.26. GSM is 2.25 and my OS is 6.0.0.0. I have no idea how to check what my radio rom version is... I am currently with Rogers in Canada. I installed lokiwizb to unlock this phone.
Simply put, I'm fed up. I get the "colnot.dll, clocknot.dll and repllog.dll" files all the time! What's wrong is that the "touch" on my phone is a bit screwy, either doing things late or not tapping at all.
The worst is that my phone either has poor or no reception at all! Forget about calling today, it just doesn't work. And I realised this week that I had dropped calls and calls that were just not picked up. Afterall having messages from days ago when the phone is on me is not such a good thing.
I've actually dropped the battery status plug in a while back because I had problems with that too.
What can possibly be wrong with the phone. I upgraded it to WM6 and put on cool roms to make it more appealing and in the process, it turned out to be a nightmare.
And CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME what that hard "tock" sound is everytime I hit a key???
Is there a radio rom I should install to get better reception? Should I downgrade back to some other rom, maybe even wm5? Is there a way to overclock (not over 240) my phone without any problems from the application? If it's not the htc rom, is there still a way to get the weather plugin? That is a really nice and useful item.
Please, anyone that could fix my phone is a champ. I'm just sick and tired of these problems.
Phil
Do a hard reset and your troubles will end. It works for me

Easy, 'GSM is 2.25' is your radio version presently installed on your phone. The most stable Radio Rom version commonly preferred is Radio Rom version 2.19.11 UK or 2.69.11,download and flash to check if you get a better reception a fewer missed calls.
As per other file pop ups,its better you reflash again and try the other latest TNT.1620 Series Professional and not the touchflo.hope you'll get a much better performance and no troubles or even try out the latest XMr5 Rom.For overclocking, download 'Batterystatus' install and use.
Cheers !
Revenge of the notifications!!!
Hey Zabra,
Thanx for your reply. I am trying to install the TNT 1620. But these notifications are very annoying. So far it looks good, but as far as performance goes - too early to tell.
Do you know how to at elast turn off the clonot, calnot and repllog notifications???
I'll try to install batt status now. Hopefully, it'll work better than the last time!
Phil
P.s. - what about registry edits? I would like to know if there are any that haven't been included on this rom.

Phone won't properly switch from vibrate to sound

at&t 8525 owner, here.
So, I've had this issue for a little while now after I flashed Shadow TE ROM. But it's continued since then... so here's the issue:
I go into work and turn the phone onto vibrate. After I leave work, I switch back to sound on (ring & vibrate). Even though the icon shows the sound is back on, it's not. It only vibrates. It acts as if the speaker is still asleep.
So for awhile I'd have to reset my phone every day to get it working again until I realized I can go into sound settings / notifications and I find that the phone's jumped back to the default ringtone and more than that, I have to literally push PLAY to test the sound in order for the speaker to "wake up" if you will. Then the phone's fine until the next day.
Ok so back to present:
I got fed up and thought it was Shadow TE. So I flashed CRC's v9.2 ROM. Still had the same speaker issue! I was advised to flash a shipped rom.... which I did.... and flashed CRC's v11. Issue still remains.
I've searched the board and could only find one other person make mention of this a couple years ago and no one ever addressed it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd appreciate it greatly.
Same problem here with a custom Titan ROM. Installed the same software as every other ROM that I've used so the problem must be in the ROM somewhere.

Could be... but why does no one else seem to have this issue? Wouldn't there be tons of people replying here?
I did find that instead of switching it to vibe when I arrive at work, I switch it to silent... and SOMETIMES when I go back to Sound it works ok for a few hours but then it goes back to silent without warning so I miss calls and texts a lot. Might as well force the sound back on through Notifications Menu anyway. I'm SO getting away from Windows Mobile ASAP.
As soon as the Blackberry Bold is released here in the US, I'm buying it.... unless something about it disappoints me, in which case I'll settle for the iPhone 3G. The Bold can't come soon enough.
Who would like to claim this Hermes when I'm through with it? What are you willing to pay?
Try making sure that your ringers are in the windows\rings folder. Saw it somewhere else and it seems to be working.

Hmm... I tried putting them in, like, 4 places... but none of them seemed to be that location. I'm doing it now and I'll test tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.... i hope it works.

Don't know what to tell you then. Make sure you're not running any 3rd party software.
