Removing the Orange Skinning.....Is it Possible - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hi All,
Is it possible to remove the Orange Skinning.
I've already desabled their skinning on the Phone and disabled the Video Calling as I never use it, this gives me some much needed performance, but I never use the Orange Today plugin, I have it turned off, but it must use up some of my valuable memory.
Shaun

Can't remmeber, but I presume yours is a WM5.
The organ stuff can't be easily removed, however you can avoid having them installed.
To do so, you must hard reset your unit, and just after the security setup section, perform a softreset when you see something like 'installing application in 3..2..1 seconds`, that will not install any orange stuff into your phone.

I will try this after I have done a backup.
As a question:
1, What else might not be installed should this work.
2. What is going to happen when I do my restore from my Complete backup

re
hi, i had the same issue and all you have to do is delete all the orange stuff in the extended ROM of the Universal. Make sure you keep a backup in case you need it after.

Make sure you don't reinstall the Orange stuff when you restore your backup!

re
Has anyone removed the actual orange branding on the phone? not the orange branded Software the actual Orange logo on the front of the phone and inside near the screen. I am wondering in the sugar cube trick will work?? Any thoughts?? Has anyone succesfully done this on the HTC UNIVERSAL

Ok, so I have now removed all the Orange stuff..........phone seems to be working much quicker and I have a lot more memory.
I've re-installed everything I wanted on it.
Phoned Orange who talked me through setting up GPRS and MMS.
I think I've done it right......email seems to work anyway.
But how to I configure the Pocket IE to use Orangeworld as its default home, and what is the address of the home page.

Ok getting there now.
Got my Orange World configure in the registry.
Last question (I hope)
My email works over GPRS.
Orange World works
Text Messaging works.
But there is'nt a mailbox in Pocket Outlook for MMS
How do I create it, as it looks like until it exists I cant send MMS messages

Selective Install on XDA Exec

Hi peeps.
After reading through various posts on this board, I thought I would hard resst my exec and install the cabs manually as suggested to get the features I want without the bloatware.
So far so good, installed everything I wanted and the connections only cab that is availble but, my MMS doesn't seem to work.
There is no MMS account in poutlook and there's noway that I can see of composing new MMS messages.
How does everyone else go on with this because when I've looked through some of the posts, everyone says thier SMS is working OK.
It's probably something stupid...
Cheers,
Smiff.
See? That's what happens when you don't proof-read your posts - there's loads of spelling mistooks and typos; and then no-one responds.
But seriously, someone else must have seen this as I'm not the only one to do a minimal install. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Smiff.
Answers in this thread for the cab file to install.

I've read that one multiple times but still have no working MMS in this situation...
I THINK
I beleive you have to create new account. It appears to be setting up email just continue through and at some point you can select type and set to mms. Then highlight account click on settings and put in your providers mms setting and bingo...
must say I havent had this problem on the exec but did on xdaiis and that solved it..
hope that helps
stay happy

Hi
Thanks for the tip but unfortunately, it didn't work that way
However, I have managed to get it working now - i did a hard reset again and a clean install and then installed 5 cabs - voicemail one, bt patch, both "shortcut" ones and the uaprof one.
The only thing I did differently this time from all the others is that I switched it off with the power button and on again before soft resetting it - i'm pretty sure that this did the trick
Cheers,
Smiff.

OK tried everything

I basically bought a brand new wizard from O2 in Uk, hard reset it, reset when "starting customisation", installed "show ext rom cab" and got rid of all that crap.
got everything working on the pda, software installed, but I CANNOT get MMS to work.
Ive tried cabs off here, inputting manual settings, and I cant get it to work.
Im thnking maybe I need to install something else? Ive got "MMS Configuration..." under the different account menu, which is maybe mms composer? I go to about and it says "mms composer v3.0.7.14" but there is nowhere i can DESIGN an mms???
I had this problem on my old compact when I went bigstorage.
ANYONE HELP
thanks by the way, great site.
why don't you install the I-Mate rom instead - and then just delete the antivirus and skype - so that you have a nice and clean install which works really fast (from experience) - and also works with mms 100%?
surely there is an easier way than reflashing the device with a new rom.
I've got this just as I want it bar the mms.
well it's your business ... however... when you hit the reset button to "get rid of the crap"... you might have prevented some patches from being installed - and sometimes these patches are important for stable functionality.
In any case, I agree that there must be a way to get the MMS working without flashing the ROM, however I just feel that the I-Mate rom without hitting the reset during boot and with all the patches - will probably serve you better.
However, I wish you luck with your current ROM.
Somebody said the only benefit of flashing a k-Jam Rom on was the wifi G. Not so, after you have done the extended ROM thing on the K-JAM Rom, you have about 5mb more space, and none of the T-Mob rubbish like that horrible pink dialer. The Camera appears to be slightly better too.

Don't do a reset when the O2 extended rom kicks in, let in run and choose a "Basic" install at the menu. You get all the O2 conectivity and MMS App but no O2 active or anything. it does install a couple of O2 apps that you can remove later.
Oh, there are a couple of O2 items in the start up you need to remove as well.
Not perfect but probably an easier option if like me you couldn't be doing with the hassle of a full reflash
well, ive got no o2 cabs on the device anymore, only stuff like resco and the likes in its place
but I made a copy of all the cabs, does anyone know what they are?
And which ones people would recommend to install

Hello
I am in the same situation as you!
Have done a hard reset to get rid of the o2 crap which makes the machine run loads better.
I have everything back to how I want it except the MMS function.
How did you solve your dilema?
Thanks
Me as well, any way to get the MMS accont back?
I had a similar problem of not being able to send MMS, but never have done and found out 6 months later that O2 hadnt set it up on my account !!!
Worth a check

I lost the ability to do MMS?

So yeah, I gussied-up my M500 with a bigstorage rom from the ftp and it's pretty hot.
Thing is, even after installing pretty much all but the most offensive-looking cabs from the orange ext-rom, I have no MMS functionality.
I've got the access point settings just fine, but in messaging there is no MMS account, nor any way to add one.
Is it a .cab that I'm missing? There /are/ a couple that refuse to install, says they're missing a file somewhere in the Windows directory?
Man, it seems forum search is an ancient art unknown to the people of today.

I did not install Caller ID, but only installed an older version 2.0.0.x from an older extrom.
For version 2.0.x: Remember that Pocket Outlook has to run always in order to receive MMS. So if you use some kind of taskmanager, prevent poutlook.exe from being closed (this can be configured in SPB Plus)
Cheers,
Mundl
OK, so let's try this out!
Also: I totally searched! I guess my search-fu is weak ;_;
[edit] All seems to be working, ish. Though a message someone claims to have sent me last night is in limbo or something? I guess if the phone doesn't know what's what then a MMS sent to it is lost forever?

Registry mod to Bring back MMS

Hello all,
First time post for me, though I do frequent MODACO now and again. I recently performed a hard reset due to a complete failure of my SPV M600. I thought I would take the opportunity to remove the Orange CABS that install follwoing the reset. Fine, the phone is now faster and has much more memory available. Only problem is that obviously one of those cabs activated the Arcsoft MMS composer and added MMS to the list of available messaging (i only have text, outlook and my pop3).
I have had a nose in th Registry and found two possibles one in HKLM/software/microsoft/inbox/mms1 and the other in HKLM/software/arcsoft
but thats as far as I can get because I dont know enough about how a registry works to start adding keys and DWords etc.
My request is... does anyone have a .cab that will tweak the Reg to add the MMS functionality or else a simple step by step guide to make the necessary reg tweaks myself?
I have already made the necessary changes to the connections to setup MMS, think I just need to tweak the Reg?
Anyway, any help greatfully received.
OK how about a cab?
Ok so no response on the Reg tweak, howzabout a .cab file that will do the job? Would appreciate any glimmer of hope someone can fling in my direction?
Hi,
I've got he same problem...and I still have no answer...It occurs the same thing to me when I restored a backup of SMS/Mails with SPB Backup. Since this backup I can't send or receive any MMS, even if ArcSoft MMS is installed on my PPC (included in the rom). If someone could tell us how to do....don't hesitate !
Keep searching...

Help... no 3G access...???

Hi all. Bad news for a first post. I've been reading and reading and researching to get a better understanding, as the most experience I've had with altering phone software is modding a Samsung Blackjack 2 for awhile.
I have the US AT&T HTC Tilt 2 (Rhodium). I will be as specific as possible - I cannot access the internet (no web access, no email access, etc.) I can send and receive sms messages and send and receive phone calls. The strange thing is I can send and receive mms messages (I thought they used 3G?)
Here's the specifics BEFORE I had the problem:
WinMo 6.5, latest framework, no mods of any sort. No problems of any kind.
AFTER:
I installed the HARDspl with the hopes of soon putting a ROM on my phone (I liked what you folks have to offer). I installed Opera Mobile 10, set it as my default, installed cleanRAM, ran it twice. I installed LockDevice. I installed mobilematt's Crystal Clock, and an HDWALL cab. I did the three background regedits to get the HDWALL to work properly by using the Mobile Registry Editor.
I properly soft reset and restarted along the way as prompted. I have no other extra programs that weren't mentioned.
The error message told me it couldn't connect, with the option of checking my settings or dismissing the error. It told me to reset my device specific to my manufacturer... etc.
---------------------
FUNNY ENOUGH, I just restarted the phone to try again... and it worked. The error is not there, and I can access the internet on IE and Opera 10, check my email, etc.
A FLUKE?
Did you just get the phone? When I got mine I had the same problem, I upgraded from a Tilt to a Tilt2 and I had to get a new sims card, my sister also had the same problem when she upgraded to the ATT Fuze from the Pantec matrix, everything worked but no 3g internet connection
