Hi guys!
I have my Magician (QtekS100) for over a year now, and I've been always very happy with it. One of my best purchases ever.
It has never gave me any problem until recently when I decided to purchases a GPS Bluetooth (Nokia LD-3W) and my nightmare started.
After many days of trying things, turns out this GPS is a bit special and doesn't like all BT Drivers/Roms.
As the Normal MS drivers won't work and I have to use others.
In your opinio what is the best BT Stack software?
My magician currently is ROM 1.06.03 ESN, ExtROM 1.06.117ESN, Radio 1.05.00, Protocol 1137.39 with the Toshiba Drivers.
Should I upgrade it to a new ROM?

new blue tooth stack isnt out yet.
the old bsch stack works fine.. has a few bugs..
the toshiba stack and the Bluesoleil stack is very buggy
cya
Bluesoleil wasn't buggy for me when used for wireless internet. What I didn't like was its incompatibility with my headset. And I'm not willing to switch every time so I returned to MS. I'd love to use the new BCHS stack, but noone's got it right now.
Btw: why did you just copy & paste? Please correct it, there are only BT stacks!
Btw2: please tell me the difference between "O2 MINI NEW BLUETOOTH STOCK" and "BT STACK(BCHS)"

Yes, I did copy from the Subject on other posts.
As far as I know the correct word is Stack and Stock is just misspelled
Stack applies to any Implementation of networking protocols, not just bluetooth.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protocol_stack
You just got to love the Wikipedia!!!
BT Tools is the solution (for me at least)
try "bluetooth tools" this was the solution for me when I had Magician. worked for me with several BT GPS units + TomTom 5.21 and Falk/MarcoPolo Navigator 2004-2005
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
I did not have any problems with my GPS receiver with either of the stacks. And I do know what a stack is. That's why I asked you to correct the spelling mistake.
I use Bluesoleil and am half-way happy.
Unfortunatly I cannot use MS stack because after some time it gives me the error about "please turn flight mode first", even if it is off.
Anyone know how to fix this?

I installed the Toshiba bluetooth stack on my I-Mate Jam and it ROCKS - it includes ALL the functionality/profiles missing in the MS stack!

It is unstable as hell (I have experienced all sort of "cosmetic" issues) and I am fairly sure this is due to the fact that both MS and Toshiba stacks try to use the same bluetooth hardware SIMULTANEOUSLY.

has anyone figured how deinstall/reinstall the microsoft bluetooth stack on a Magician (I-Mate Jam, Qtek S-100, MDA Compact, XDA Mini)?

So, what "ROCKS" about it?
Always do full backup b4 installing sware.
it does what the MS BT stack does (serial port, headset, activesync), but also adds other profiles (pan, dun, obex, ftp, chat + others from memory)
i.e send files/chat with other mobile phone users, access bt pan, etc... though i am only interested in pan, chat and obex
when i fisrt played with it, i immediately saw why everyone whinges with the bt stack...
it's excellent and stable for me, didn't expierence any bugs...
dutty:
Did you get pan working ?
If so can you please let me know how?
Thanks,
Martin
I'm kinda interested ...
Can u please post a copy of that Toshiba Bluetooth stack u're using so we can all have a chance to have a look at it and maybe modify it to work on our phones
uh, just started the service, restarted the device and connected to it!
BUT, i also installed the toshiba BT stack on my workstation
I'm kinda interested ...
Can u please post a copy of that Toshiba Bluetooth stack u're using so we can all have a chance to have a look at it and maybe modify it to work on our phones
And just more thing ... How did u manage to get that bluetooth stack to run on xda devices since it keeps checking for external SD bluetooth cards and was not designed for internal bluetooth chips ?
Look in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15382&highlight=
Thanks for the link ....... BUT !!
I was able to download the Toshiba BT Stack v5.01 but it won't seem to work on my xda !! Everytime I tap on Bluetooth Setting (from toshiba) It says the following ' An error occurred with the Bluetooth Card. Confirm that the card is working properly.
Both my MS Stack and Widcomm Stacks are disabled and don't conflict with this new Toshiba Stack.
I was wondering how the thread owner got this BT stack running on his xda ?
It works on my XDA Mini just fine. The only problem I'm having is that it won't stay resident when you power off the device.

Will this new stack work on a Qtek2020 ? I've tried installing it on my Qtek2020 but it won't recognise my bluetooth hardware !!
Any sugestions ??? :?:

Sorry, another question.
In the event of a hard reset will my O2 XDA II restore the MS stack with whatever registry settings that were deleted in the process of installating the Toshiba bt stack? Will the Toshiba bt stack be totally removed in the evnet of a hard reset?
Thanks again

Found 2 problems.
Cannot connect when call ring.. connect then call is fine.
Cannot Accept call with button on headset.
Any more Problems ???
Please post your problems ..
Hi
i´ve tested the toshiba bt software on my MDA-Compact but haven´t got very good results. First, after installation, it seems to work good with my Royaltek RBT 3000 (GPS), but after i´ve switched off the device while an active bt connection was established with my gps software, the bt-stack broks down and the whole systems seems to be unstable. Even after a softreset the bt-software from toshiba says that they didnt recognize any bt hardware.
Now i am trying to deinstall the bt-soft and can recommend everybody who wants to test to make an backup before ;-)
I think that the software from toshiba could work, when the ms-bt-stack would be completly changed with the toshiba-stack, but doesnt work without problems when both bt-stacks are on the system.
Regards
FluBeX
I found out about this BT stack driver through a thread regarding the toshiba BT stack driver, so i thought: other driver, other thread
Original thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15604
Download BlueSoleil CE here: http://ivtcorporation.com/download/BlueSoleil_Download.php#bluesoleilforce
Credits for finding this BT stack go to: rdkay
It has a lot more profiles then the standard MS stack.
Occording to their web site, supported profiles are:
PAN, OPP, SYNC, LAP, DUN, FTP, FAX, HID, SPP, HCRP, BIP, Headset, AV
The manager that comes along with it, is also a lot better then the standard one, more options, more playing around
I played around with it for a while, and i think it is rock sollid. Although I have only tested the SPP profile (with BT GPS). It never crashed, not even on suspend & resume. The radio will be deactivated during suspend though. For me this is perfect, because it will save battery life.
On resume, it will be automatically reactivated.
Installation procedure:
- Download Bluesoleil CE: http://www.bluesoleil.com/update/index.asp
- Before install, delete these reg keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\BTIcon]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\microsoft\bluetooth]
- Reboot PPC
- Install Bluesoleil CE
- During setup on PPC select Manual -> USB driver, then let setup reboot
This next step is optional, do this only when you have troubles with your GPRS connection (a newly installed network driver prevents it from operating properly on my device) Delete following reg keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BTNIC]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BTNIC1]
Reboot once more
Finished! enjoy
Sorry to spoil the celebrations, but I have already tried this stack. Indeed it works fine - except for the dirty details mentioned on the download page:
"Note: If your Bluetooth Hardware device (such as USB Dongle) is not licensed by IVT for using with BlueSoleil, any BlueSoleil version downloaded here can only be used as evaluation version, only 5M data can be transfered through Bluetooth link in evaluation version."
Unfortunately this is true - it shuts down the connection after transfer of 5Mb and after some time (a couple of weeks?) it no longer functions at all. I would be happy to buy the full version of this Bluetooth stack for my MDA Compact, but sadly the company does not seem willing to sell it.

WOW
is this the solution i've been looking for, for my Parrot CK3000 carkit?
Just 3 questions before i will try this one tonight:
- Is it un-installable? (cause you change the regkeys)
- You had no problems with ActiveSync? Cause i would really feel bad loosing that!
- If it works on the Magican, it should also work on my dutch MDA Compact (T-Mobile, but ROM upgraded to 1.06, radio 1.05) right?

- You should make a backup of the reg keys you delete, only then it will be reversible.
- No problems with activesync of any kind.
- I have radio version 1.05 myself, so for that it should work. For ROM however, I have version 1.03, since too many ppl were complaining about bugs & instability.
--------
Also, I have written an email to their company, asking if they would sell it, and howmuch it would cost. Lets see if we'd get some awnser. I could live with a 60 days limit (i would reinstall my PPC long before that), but a 5 meg limit....... :?
So, which devices are licensed?
Found a configuration file, so we can do some additional tinkering
File: \Windows\bttl.ini
The following file has obviously to do with the license for application.
I suspect, that if we might be successfull with tickering in this file, we might get a full blown version. But lets first wait if I get awnsers from the company if they'd sell it; I prefer a legal version.
License File: \Windows\IVTLicConf.dat
Also, an additional ini file, that appears to be the same (?) as my first reported bttl.ini : \Windows\BTDynamicConfig.ini
for me it is working perfect. thx a lot heimiko.
Anybody tried this stuck with BT headsets...?...I would like to know if it works with SE HBH-660 or some other BT headset supporting Caller ID...

Xlephant: I was really looking for a good stack for my ck3000 also! Can you tell me if it allows me to upload the phone numbers to my carkit also and use the voicedialing app inside the ck3000? (Cause with my old Sony Ericsson T610 I could)
Thomas
don't know much about the ck3000. but i have no problems to upload the phonebook with this stack. but i was also be able to upload it with the ms stack(the ck3300 works perfect with the ms stack). i swaped the stack only because of the PAN profil.
I don't understand what everyone is getting excited about. If you cannot buy it, then it is useless to me.
Regards,
William
thats true but i think there should be a way to buy it or to reset the 5mb limit.

It should, provided you have a dialer app that does. And as the bluetooth is switched off in standby you would have to initiate the dial-up from the device, not from the headset.
Radio issue
What do you mean by the radio will be deactivated during suspend? The Bluetooth radio or won't I be able to recieve any incomming calls on my MDA Compact?
Has anyone actually experienced any of the mentioned limitations, i.e. 5 MB limit, etc.?
Cheers for the reply!
I should try it
Hi I've been looking through the forum for the last couple of days and I'm really impressed by the great tips and downloads etc.
Anyway I have a question regarding the Bluetooth configuration /connectivity options available on the S110. In comparison to my other devices the Bluetooth on the S110 sucks.
So I'd like to install the Widcomm version, I've tried the bluetooth_GPS.cab but it fails to initialise the bluetooth stack, so the question is has anyone been able to install and overwrite the current Bluetooth on the Magician?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
sorry to inform u that the Widcomm Bt stack does not work on the Magician
there is another Bt stack made By toshiba ( for it's own PPC ) and it works on the Magician and adds alot of new profiles missing from the M$ stack , but it's not stable.
I guess I M$ Stack sucks, but you'll get used to it...
cheers
Do anyone have working widcom stack for artemis? I read in helmi's universal forum that it could be done via some reg changes. Made it anyone working. I'm gonna give it a try. Keep fingers crossed
didn't have time to try everything.
download
KING HELMI_C's widcomm stack
install
ad following registry entries:
Code:
unfortunately too long post  so check the .reg included
I just finished so far I tried
filetransfer Orbit <> Universal works
AD2P (or whats name bt stereo) Orbit<> Moto HT820
AVPRC (or whats name remote control - next, previous, pause, play) Orbit<> Moto HT 820 (using m$hit media player) works
PAN not yet
Headset not yet.
regfile included.
to Helmi: I posted this in artemis upgrade forum as well
please feel free to post or PM or mail me any bugs.....
BTW: I'm using O2 Orbit - Arte200
Sorry for noob question ... but what is the difference betwin Original one and Widcom?
Cheers ...
check menneisys (soory for misspelling) posts somewhere in General/networking
it has more bt profiles at least
pnsnake:
Are you with helmi also working on this hack?
Your widcom stack made for universal works on artemis as well?
Do I simpy follow the same procedure described by you on the link specified by you?
Apps such as Sniper, which require widcom/broadcom stack, will work on Artemis, as with MS stack it is not?
For newbies here is the article from pocketpcmag.com blog about the difference:
http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1649&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1#more1649
dont know, i'm just trying to port it for arte, my Universal is running with Widcomm, so i decided to port it to my Orbit.
So far A2DP,AVCPR is working, file transfer, serial port are working. Headset profile not yet. I'm still trying to figure it out. Maybe Helmi will help.
so far i can transfer all sound from phone to my moto ht820 but not yet phonecalls
Tnx for quick reply. Guess I will try it out. I hope it is easy to remove it and come back to default settings (ms stack). I don't need bluetooth profiles, neither plan on using bt earphones.
File transfer (both ways), bluetooth sync and modem are indeed required. Hope it works.
I have a big problem. I tried this stack and bluetoothe works fine but GPS stoped working. If I uninstall it and try to activate MS Bluetooth stack, bluetooth stops working. So I have to decide: Bluetooth or GPS.
Is there any possibility to reactivate the MS Bluetooth stack?
Ah, I do have WM6 btw...
I was looking at a fix to get my car working with my WM6 Artemis, and thinking of trying the Widcomm stack. However, reading through this thread am I right in understanding that this version of the Widcomm stack won't yet support hands-free kits anyway?
I bought an MDA3 with WM6 via ebay.
The bluetooth stack is not very good (DialUpNetwork does not work, ...).
Is there a better one (Broadcom instead of Microsoft)?
I tried "Broadcom_Bluetooth_Manager.CAB",
but I got "bluetooth radio failed to turn on due to insufficient driver memory" :-(
And "ba_wm5_broadcom1.7_test.rar" seems to be older than "Broadcom_Bluetooth_Manager.CAB".
What can you recommend to me?
(And another question:
How can I find out, whether I have Helmi's WM6 ROM or some other one?
It is ROM 5.60.00 WWE 03/02/05, Radio 1.15.00, Protocol 1337.45)
Really nobody out there, who can help me ?

Suggested you can use Sun_Dream's Rom. Try to connect your Bluetooth stereo at firstly, then del the equip under the list, finally reconnect by click your BS equip. you will find all will be good in this action. Certainly D700's Bluetooth stack is quite ill to use, don't expect use it as normal.
Dial-Up has been deleted in WM6 and wm6.1, because preferred way of sharing the internet connection is to use "Internet Sharing" application, that is built-in.
Apart from the fact, that it has problems with keeping 2 active Bluetooth connections I see no problems with Windows BT Stack in BlueAngel.
The only other way is to go back down to WM5 Helmi 1.3.2 ROM and install Widcomm Bluetooth Stack made by Helmi for this ROM (Please note: you cannot just install a new BT stack from different provider: Bluetooth stack must be engineered for the specific ROM and the only 2 cases it will work for BA is update of the BT stack in WM2003 up to v3900 and WM5 1.3.2 Helmi ROM update I mentioned above).
First of all many thanks for the answers.
As to "Internet Sharing", I am a little bit confused.
Isn't this to use the Blue Angel as an internet modem for a PC?
But I need something else (which works quite well WM2003):
Use my UMTS/HSDPA mobile phone as an internet modem for my Blue Angel.
And this seems not to work with the Bluetooth stack in WM6 :-(
Any idea, what I could do (except going back to WM2003 or WM5)?
And did I correctly understand, that there are alternative Bluetooth stacks for WM2003 and WM5 but not for WM6 and WM6.1 ??
