Regret to report that the procedure did not work. Did it several times but after a soft-reset, there was no " ShowTitleBar" in the registry and my battery icon is still there.

WM5 has a .. delayed registry updating. Try switching off (e.g. suspend/sleep) your device and switch it on again. To be safe, so something like .. change your ring tone etc to flush the changes into the registry. Then soft reset.
Thanks, will try it
Worked for me
Here I was following instructions, restarted, and was thinking, why am I changing the clock when I want to remove the battery...but hey it worked. What do other values do in this location? Mine was for to display (the clock?) and battery, 1 to hide the battery, anyone know what 0, 2, 3,....and any others do?

· Speed Up Your Windows Mobile Pocket PC.
WOW my Pocket PC is fast! I just bumped into an old registry tweak that I have yet to use on Windows Mobile 2003. A foreign site todopocketpc had mentioned this and I was surprised I had not used it on my new install. once I applied this reg tweak I immediately saw a difference in how fast my Windows Mobile Pocket PC responded. Today plugins load faster my Games folder loads faster. Its just an overall better experience. I would highly suggest backing up your Pocket PC before you try this as playing with your registry can cause problems if you do not know what you are doing. Protect your Pocket PC BACKUP!
If you need a registry editor, you can find a free one at http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/regeditce.shtml
1. Open your registry editor on your Pocket PC
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
3. Change the value of 'limit' from 8192 to 32768
4. Close registry editor and soft reset.
That's it! Let me know what your results are

It's not set for 2.06.00WWE ROM. Perhaps that's one of the few differences we are seeing for 2.02 and 2.06...and for that matter, 2.20.
what does it do anyway? i mean.. you say it speeds up the pocketpc response... how?
Dear,
[/quote]3. Change the value of 'limit' from 8192 to 32768
Not knowing what it actually does, I have given it a try. However, my WM2003SE (V2.06) has already had such value set at 131072. Any ideas about the differences.

Does anyone know the registry setting for the alarm tweak for WM2003?
yeah! like a correctly looping tone! with no pauses
here's a few
*** Speed Up Your Windows Mobile Pocket PC.
1. Open your registry editor o_n your Pocket PC
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
3. Change the value of 'limit' from 8192 to 32768
4. Close registry editor and soft reset.
*** fix suspend timeout
The issue therefore is how long the unit is in the suspend power state before reverting to off. The time interval involved is stored in the registry at the following location HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts\BattResumingSuspendTimeout and is initially set to 15 (seconds). The amount of time required seems to depend on the number of alarm entries in the Calendar - I have about 300 entries and find that 175 seconds works for me. The reason for just under three minutes is because my full power off timeout is set to 180 seconds (three minutes) and it seems more correct for the suspend time out to be shorter.
*** low battery alerts
Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D663-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\
Create a String value named "Default" and set its value to "Low battery warning".
Now go to Start > Settings > Personal tab > Sounds & Notifications applet > Notifications tab, select "Low battery warning" in the "Select an event" drop-down list and you can customize it.
*** disable start menu animation
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\Menu\
Change the "AniType" value from 6 to 0.
*** add date to start bar
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\
Create a binary value named "TBOpt" and set its value to "13 00 00 00".
Save any unsaved document and reset your Pocket PC.

AutoStart a Program
Do anybody know how to make a program run automatically when i soft reset my PPC
Autorun
Hi gwassef,
just create a shortcut for the program you want to start automatically and copy that shortcut into the /Windows/Autostart folder. Then the program starts on soft reset.
Greetings,

Hi!
I got my mda pro some weeks ago. Now i had a strage issue as I hard reseted the device: it showed some items in the controlpanel menu, that were not there before like: GPS settings, Contrast...
On the next reset they were gone again.
Does anybody know, how i can unhide them again? Is there a registry entry? a key combination?
thanks in advance
(please excuse my desastrous english)
just as an experiment i found the Contrast key in the reg, up in the list from the gps fix one
HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\ControlPanel\
i added dword Group with dec value of 1, logiclly thinking that would make 2nd tab in ctrl panel disply the contrast key
removed the redirect value there,
powered off, waited 10 seconds, held power and hit reset,
Wow, now i got a contrast option in the system page of settings!!!
only thing is tho, moving the slider has bog all difference, think i'll undo that change and remove a useless applet

I have looked on the following thread and it tries to explain how to change the programs that are listed on the soft keys.
http://translate.google.com/transla...icks-tweaks.html&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&sl=auto&tl=en
I can navigate to the files but don't know how to edit them.
Can someone help????
I am using PHM Registry Editor.
Also, is there a program to display emoticons in texts like this rather than the character version : )
There is an app called Touch HD Tweak. It has all the registry hacks for the HD preloaded, all you have to do is select which ones you want active.
You can also use Advance Config by Schaps; works great.
Oh yea, that too. It has a simpler GUI so its easier, I guess, for you to change things around.
I want to do it through the registry so that i can put my own programs there. i have tweak but you are restricted to a preset list.
What do you mean by "put your own programs there?" You can add any shortcut using Advance Config and name it the way you want.

I think if you add the path to where the app is you can use it and name it.

You don't need to edit the files just know what they are called and the path where they are located so you can copy that into HKLM/Software/HTC/manila/ via the registry editor. So for example to make right soft key open up the camera go to HKLM/Software/HTC/manila - then type in HomeRSKPath: \Windows\Camera.exe
then type in HomeRSK Text "Camera".
Power off and on for it to take effect - but may work without.
Hope that makes sense.
Thats what i'm saying in my original question.
I can get to the manila folder and then click values to see the files HomeRSKPath etc.(they have an 'ab' icon in PHB editor).
I can't find how to change the text and paths for the file.
If i click edit it only gives me the ability to change theusual binary numbers and name of the file
Can anyone tell me how to edit the HomeRSKPath files?

Put your stylus on the icon of HomeRSKPath and you will get a window pop up where you can insert your new app and path for it.
Sorted it, i wasn't restarting the phone so the registry wasn't getting re-written. Long day!
Metalboz,
The settings are in the registry, not in files. You need a registry editor to acces those keys and modify the value.
can anyone tell me how to put comm manager on the left softkey. thanks in advance.
This is what i did using PHM Registry Editor -
Open PHM Registry Editor
Navigate to HKLM/Software/HTC/manila
Press values
Click on HomeLSKPath
Press Enter key
-Opens up screen with the following-
------------------------------------
Vaule Name:
HomeLSKPath
Value Data:
Value Type:
REG_SZ
------------------------------------
Insert the path to the program you want run eg-
------------------------------------
Value Data:
\Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe
------------------------------------
Click done
Do the same for the HomeLSKText file but put the text that you want to show on the screen in the Value Data field.
Turn phone off and back on again.
Should be sorted for you.
I need help in disabling vibration when using the keyboard. I've tried to look for it in the forums and in the device settings but did not find anything. There is no personalization in the Settings tab.
I know the setting is in there somewhere. A search for "vibrate typing" turned up amongst others:

I guess you'll find the answer in both of those threads.

thanks for the links! but i think the HD2 US that i have does not have that remove vibration option in the settings. i tried to look for that option in all the settings but i could not find it. if it's there, then i definitely need to have my eyes checked.
Im running a generic HTC ROM on my T9193 model; go to the Settings tab (in Sense), then Personalize, then Vibration
Using Resco Registry go to
Hkey Local Machine > Software > HTC > ezsip
Add a new DWORD Value string and call it "VibrationEnabled" (without the quotes) and give it a value of 0.
Soft reset and BAM!
But this is with Resco Registry, with another reg edit program, i am not sure what kind of string you are adding, hopefully it is still called DWORD.

This is really useful, especially because it turns off only keyboard vibration. Thank you very much!
If anyone is still having issues with this problem there is an easier way without messing around with the registry. From any screen hit the Windows button to the right of the home button on the phone itself, not the touchscreen. Then find the "settings" icon and tap that. Next you will see a "personalize" tab and tap it, at the very bottom of those options you will see a "vibration" tab, tap that and you will be taken to a screen that allows you to change the settings for the keyboard, simply uncheck the box, tap done and your all set

I'm using the NRG ROM, and those instructions don't make any sense to me. Also, be aware that the stock TMOUS ROM (as I recall, I didn't use it long), does not give access to the standard "Settings" icon except via the Sense tab.

You are correct, on a stock ROM if I remember right you have to go to Settings>Menu>All Settings>Personal>Imput I think it has been a little while since I used any Windows Mobile ROMs now.
Registry hack worked for me.
Would be interesting to determine impact on battery life.
TMOUS-Sense Vibration Settings
This is an old thread but there was a recent reply. For the T-Mobile HD2 with a stock ROM amd/or the Sense overlay, go to the Settings tab, select Personalize, select Vibration and then uncheck the box. However, this did not turn off vibration for the Swype keyboard.
If you have another ROM, then these settings may not be available via this method. BSB Tweaks has settings to turn off/on vibration for HTC apps and calculator vibration. Of course, the registry editing will work. I have found the Resco registry editor to be easy and useful.
I've looked in the forums and in the phone's settings and I did not find anything. Does somebody know how to do it?
Vibrate text fix
Its an easy fix. Just go to Start/Setting/Personalize/Vibration. It is a cool feature but it uses a lot of battery life.
