I have 2 SIMS on Cingular. Is there anyway to show the phone number active on the today screen? This would help quickly identify which SIM is active. I've been looking without success. Thanks!
There are a few products that allow you to have 2 simcards in a phone ( you have to cute the little chip part out on both sims and put them in an adapter) I have heard that you usually get a pop-up on the phone saying what sim card to you want to use.
its something I am looking in to after I found out that T-moible allows you to get prepaid wifi/t-zones. I would get a tmoible prepaid and use it with my phone (cingular) but I dont know if I will be able to switch back and forth ( I know it requires a restart to switch)
there are alot of adapters that can be used to switch the SIMS. but what i am looking for is a program that shows the SIM phone number on the today screen to show me exactly which SIM is active.
SIM manager (in programs), can show you the number, but i have to load it each time. pain in arse. i just want to see it on the front page. any program that can do this?
there is a program called WIVIT that shows the number, but it doesn't work on WM5
i found a french site that may help ( use your fav translator)

cant the owner info built in today thingy show the phone number? would that work?

My provider (Globe Telecom) recently released their product Opti-SIM wherein there exist two lines in one SIM. It is easy to use via nokia phones coz you may toggle between lines by using Line1/Line2 in their menus. I'd like to use this special SIM in my XDA2 but I dont know how to configure the said feature. I've searched the whole Settings but I can't see any Line1/Line2 stuff.
I know some of us here have been using Dual SIM adaptor however this case is different, it is only 1 SIM with 2 Lines. I'm hesitant to avail it yet since I dont know if it will work with XDA. Does anyone know how to use it?
2 lines? what are the details of this? when did they start offering this? i'm a globe subscriber too.

How it done on multiple SIMs.
I have programmed my silver sim with 4 sims and I use SIMs' pins to switch between them
Orange in the UK have the option of using two lines on one SIM but I think I'm correct in saying that this is not supported on the m1000 (their version of the XDAII, Qtex2020, iMate etc).
2 lines 1 simm
Orange supports 2 lines 1 simm[/b]. Orange is the only provider that supports this feature. I have Nokia 6600 with 2 lines and you toggel between lines by holding down the hash Key for 5/6 seconds. I have a m1000 and orange says 2lines 1 simm is not supported by the m1000. I have tried the simm and it recieves call on both lines. but you have no way of toggeling between the 2 lines ie you can only call out on the main line.
If anyone works a way round this then it would be welcome. [/quote]
Yes it is being offered by Globe. They can convert your 2 SIM's into 1 having 2 lines (cell numbers) in it. I think they've been offering this since July 2004 or earlier, im not so sure, but they only offer it to plan holders. You will be charged Php300.00 for conversion.
I found a thread but I can't remember which one, someone said you may toggle between lines using SIM Toolkit under Programs. I think the SIM card itself has a menu where you can switch between lines. It can be accessed through SIM Toolkit. No need to softreset. Although I haven't tried that yet, I'll be converting my 2 SIM's tonight, wish me luck.
Confirmed, I'm the living proof globe user, 2 lines in 1 sim. But you'll have to check your O2. I think previous models don't have the sim tool kit found under program files. I'm not sure if this is downloadable. Mine has it in the ROM, so even if I hard reset, it's still there. it's kinda a hassle to change lines though. I'm trying to find a macros to do it. go to program files/ sim tool kit/ my lines/ switch lines. These are the steps.
Question for Ilyas Khan:
Does this mean that if I can somehow get two lines stored onto my SIMM then it will accepting incoming calls on all of them at once? If they're both on Orange I mean.
What about multiple lines from different providers? I would imagine that it's not possible for the radio equipment to monitor more than one provider at once!
You can unblock your phone and purchase something called a ghost sim = 2 sim adapter that sits between battery and external cover. You can switch between the 2 providers by soft reset and choosing on start up. However these are temperamental and took me a while to find one that works on Himalaya's.
JPS is referring to the DUAL SIM Adapter discussed in some threads, but that is a different strory as discussed above where there are 2 lines/numbers (from 1 operator) on 1 sim.
Dual SIM adapters give you more flexibility and let you switch between SIMs by switching radio off/on. The ones that fit Himalaya are the King of Doublecard MAI-E (no cutting!) or any Ghost-SIM-adapter (need to cut both sims).
BTW One of the forum members is working on an app that lets you switch between the two SIM's in a dual-sim adapter via a today-plugin (also makes the active number visible!)
i also have 2 lines 1 sim from Globe, i use sim toolkit, but sometimes its doesnt automatically change you have to change to airplane mode and back again.
Hi there,
Some time ago I purchased a KING OF DOUBLE CARD for my MDA Compact. It seems however that this card is not functioning in my PPC.
I am using a MDA Compact with the original T-Mobile ROM. I only partly installed the cabs because I wanted to get rid of the ugly T-mobile colours.
Could someone please provide me with some help?:
1st: does anyone make use of the KING OF DOUBLE CARD
2nd: What Rom do you have
3rd: Do I have to install something in addition?
etc etc.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards
Wilfried
dont know any answers, but I do have a question...how did you make it fit?
I thought it didnt fit in the HTC Magician....so I bought another and carved up my SIMs
works fine though, using Wivit SIm Status Switcher with it to switch SIMs..
you could try it, its a great app
which model did you buy? what do you mean by "carved up my SIMS"?
He probably means a ghost sim, where you cut the chips out of two sim cards and out them into the ghost sim which is normal sim size.
Hi there,
It is a model where you don't have to cut your sims.
Yes you are right: it doesn't fit that easy however with some pressure on the back of the phone it fits.
The problem however is that my phone doesn't recognize the damn card.
I am cosidering to throw it away and take a second phone with me for the other SIM. Again waste of money. hmmmmm
Best regards

Double SIM work fine on my XDA mini
Hello all,
Just want to share some info, I use Almighty Bicard on my XDA mini, and it's working fine on it, just turn on your flight mode, then turn off your flight mode than you will get your second SIM.
Or you can use SIM master or SIM MAX, it can handled 8/12 SIM no. on 1 SIM card, but some time you have problem to scan your original SIM card.
Thanks, Vireman
Can you point me to the specific dual sim you use??
I bought the ghost sim and couldn't get it to work, I tried on 4 old sim cards and decided not to cut up my work sim and personal sim.
I have been looking for the other typoes which take the full sim cards.
On another note it may not work because you will need to get the T-Mobile phone unlocked to work with another companies SIM.
My work sim is o2 and would only work after the MDA was unlocked.
You can phone T-Mobile ans they will send you the code to do this for £15.
Hallo ishgrnod,
I use Almighty Bicard, You need to cut your SIM chip and put it together on Almighty Bicard. It work like a switcher, If you restart your phone it will switch to another SIM.
Mostly in my country there no phone lock from the operator, I think your problem come from this side.
Thx. Vireman
Isn't there a universal phone unlocker already on the forums?
I use this cut up dual sim in the UK:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6415916094&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1
from this user:
http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=slam1416&iid=6415916094&frm=284
Works fine. Just have a steady hand when you cut, measure twice, cut once
I use an O2 contract and orange PAYG. Some reports say O2 contract doesn't work. Mine does, no problems.

I bought a King Of Double Card for my MDA Compact. I cannot get it to fit at all.
I don't really want to chop up my SIM cards either :?
OK, UPDATE:
I got it to fit but the phone will not recognize the cards. I'm using WiViT SIM Status Switcher.
Can anyone suggest recommend a different tool ?
I'm on
ROM Version : 1.12.00 WWE
Radio : 1.12.10
ExtROM : 1.12.131 WWE
WiViT isn't likely to be the problem - it just reads the operator from your network, and the sim phone number stored in your Sim; you may not have one stored in there (I bloody didn't and thought my EVC programming was at fault). See WiViT's faq, or basically open up Sim Manager on your phone.
But, ignore wivit, just ensure you can make a telephone call with either sim. Then, switch over with STK or flight mode off/on and see if you can make a call with the other Sim. If that works, then your problem is with WiViT. If it doesn't your problem is with the sims. See my other posts on these cut up sims - basically, i think Magician doesn't put enough pressure on the back of the "mini sims", and you need to stick some paper down the back of the metal sleave.
V
PS See the thread on Magician today screens to see my Wivit type software...
Hey V, thanks for the advice...
My problem was down to the single SIM end of the Dual SIM not making contact with the connectors in the phone. I have the King Of Double Card Type, as shown in my crude mockup below. ( I dont dare take mine out to take a picture since it took me all evening to get it in right. So please excuse the picture.)
WiViT is working perfectly now, i made sure my own numbers were stored correctly as you suggested, and all is well.
The only problem is, the back of my MDAc is slightly out...but i can live with that i guess (until the MDA Pro (HTC Universal) is released)

Does anybody know if there is any software that enables us to switch between the two lines by menu and automatically forwards the line in between
Dual SIM Card
I am not sure ... but here what I got from the internet:
http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/dualsim/dualsimcovers.htm
Compatible with the latest Worldwide SIM cards comp V1, V2 and V3 all supported.
Change the sim on the phones menu
Use 2 sim cards with 1 mobile phone
Switch between 2 cards directly, no need to turn your phone on and off.
No need to change the cover or back of your phone
http://www.magicsim.com/
... dual sim card is a improved one that with higher compatibility to the mobiles and can work with both GSM and 3G mobiles.
http://www.simore.ch/
Simore is a smart device
of dual SIM card which allows
you to install two different SIM cards into one mobile phone. You can therefore use two different numbers with one single mobile phone. You can switch from one number to the other in two clicks without switching off your mobile phone.
http://ucables.com/ref/DUAL-SIM
With this new design you no longer have to turn off your phone to change between numbers, change the look of your phone with a thicker housing or enter pins to change lines. With this new desing you can do all the switching directly from the main menu of the phone.

Please let us know if it works
Thanks gogol. I did not mean dual sim adapter. I have only one sim card with two lines in it. When you use it in a Nokia for example, it pops up a new menu where you could switch between the lines without manually forward the passive line to the active one and put the phone off and then back on. It does not work on my new JASJAM. Every time I need to switch to the other line, first I need to forward my line 1 to line 2. Switch off the phone, and back on by using pin number of line 2, disable call forwarding of line 2 etc..
Do you know any application which does these things on WM5?
You mean something like Orange Line Two right? http://www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?pagename=OUKPersonal/Service&cid=1096023563451
I don't think Windows Mobile PDA's support this feature.
Yes exactly the same service as Orange Line 2
Is it possible to somehow hack my phone/sim to include two different phone accounts, one being Tmobile and the other Cingular? I dont like carrying around two phones.
you dont need to hack ... it already exist ---- you can buy Sim card with 2 or more telephony provider ... (got 2 czech providers) -.-- when i want to got Vodafone, just a few click, and it will tell me new messages and missed calls, and after i switch to T-mobile and i can continue my work

WoW, didn't know you could get a sim card with two providers on it. My friend got this knockoff iPhone a while ago. Was a really bad knockoff. So bad that the warning label on the back of the phone (where it stated that only apple can use THIS apple logo) was mispelt (lol) waring. Anways back to the original point, the cheap knockoff allowed you to put in two sim cards at once. I can't wait for someone to implement this feature into a windows phone so you can use 'em both at one time. Very useful for us canadians who don't want to shell out a thick wad of cash to use the internet, and would like to use a second sim card for a data connection.
hey
dont mean to thread jack, but can do the reverse? get 2 sim cards with the same info? i love my wing, but for work i need a regular phone. one that is simple, and able to make calls asap.. instead of unlocking, entering a pw and pressing the grn button and than fumbling with the touch screen.. for work i need to be able to flip the phone open with one hand and call emergency numbers as fast as possible, so for work i take my sim card out and put it in a reg tmo phone.. would love to be able to use both phone with 2 diff sims.
any 1 know if its possible?
i know its possible in the netherlands (also t mobile) here its called something like "sim duo" better ask your provider

Should be able to do it with no legal issues, I would think (if you're in the US).
Back in the day (12 - 15 years ago), phones were easily purchased with dual-nams (I had one from Motorola), which is how multiple phone numbers were assigned to a single device before the advent of SIM cards, device locking, long term contracts, etc.
You can get a dual-sim adapter from a couple of companies, but here's a link to one that has several types and lists their compatibility with various phones:
http://www.simore.ch/en/
I used a dual sim adapter briefly in a QTEK. It sucked.
If memory serves network locking is about to become illegal here in UK so I imagine dual sim kit will really take off here shortly.
I have a Vodafone's TWIN sim card in which I have 2 different numbers: professional number and private number.
I am not concious about what SIM I have switched on in every specific moments so I am spending my money in professional calls and viceversa.
Everytime I want to change from one number to the other I have 2 possibilities:
1.- Turn off and Turn on the Phone in Comm Manager and enter PIN
2.- Use STK Service, selece which number I want ot switch on and enter PIN
I have been searching for a long time a program that changes the Wallpaper (or that writes anything in the main screen) based on the SIM I have switched on so I can be aware about what is the current active SIM at every moment. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything yet.
Also, is there any program to turn off and then turn on the phone with just one click as I am using it very often? Something to switch between sims in a TWIN sim card without entering the PIN?
Could anybody give me any idea? Any program that could help me for some of the mentioned purposes? Any forum in where I could continue my search?
Thank you very much in advance...
for no pin just take the pin of the sim card from the sim card settings. A nokia phone may help you...
Is not there anybody who can help me a little more?
Thank you in advance.....
