Is there a way to transfer files fron the 8125 to another phone or device over blue tooth...i got some ring tones that i want to send to a friend but when i click the options of the file it only has beam or mail...is there a way to send it over blue tooth...thanks in advance...
Rino
The beam option IS bluetooth!
Make sure your friend`s bluetooth is on and discoverable, tap beam and wait untill you see your friend`s phone in the list of devices.
Tap the `tap to send` text next to the phone name you want to send the file to.

I try to send pictures to nokia 6600 and I don't know how??? I can set up bond for nokia 6600 and received the pictures. Is anyone know how to send pics by using bluetooth filesharing on XDA II?
hey mate,
last time i did this; transfer files to a nokia phone, was like april. so i'm a little rusty but i'll try to remember what i did.
basically i turned on my bluetooth and my friend did the same. i then used the xda2's infared app; if i remember correctly when i tried sending him the file the ir didn't work but rather the bluetooth took over. thus i DO remember being able to send him pics and wav files. another thing i also did was used file explorer. go to the file you want to send; then put your stylus on the file name but don't release it (don't lift your stylus); after around 2-3 seconds a small menu should appear with the options: cut, copy, rename, delete, send via email, beam file and set as today wallpaper (if it's a pic). click on beam file; i think this goes back to the first explaination i did where i used the ir app. again; instead of the file beinng sent via ir; the bluetooth app takes over and the file gets sent. as long as the bluetooth apps in both devices are working; it should be able to send. oh; before i forget when you're about to send; the app will search first for all available devices. when you see you're friend's profile you then click on it. if i remember there'll be a button "send file" or something; you then click on it and wait for a few seconds. confirmation should be seen on your screen and possible a sound on your friend's phone. hope that helps.
cheers

i can send files to other phones / devices . but i can't receive.
I send Receive via Bluetooth, but not Send!
Strange - I'm able to receive but not send. To receive, I left my bluetooth settings to Discoverable. I also bonded my device with the other person's device.....interesting thing is it asks for Device PIN and as long as you both put in the same number, it seems to accept (I used 0000). The other phone (Nokia) sent me a file via bluetooth. Message came up on my XDA II asking if I wanted to accept a file sent by xyz. I accepted and it automatically put it in My Documents folder. Very fast too!
I'm using XDA 2 (not 2i). When I select file (hold the stylus down) file in File Explorer, there is an option to "Beam file" but none to Send via Bluetooth. The Beam File option is for Infra Red. How do you send via Bluetooth?
Can anyone help please????
Method for Sending via Bluetooth on XDA 2
Fergyuk kindly provided the following info :
Hi try the following
Turn on bluetooth on both devices
In file explorer click and hold the file and select beam file
you will see infrared tap to send and searching
the searching is the bluetooth looking for a device
after a short while the Bluetooth device should appear in the list
Thanks to fergyuk

File was under half-meg and it took about 5mins! is that about normal speedwise?
Hi Guys.
What software do you use to send files via bluetooth?
I believe the default file explorer cannot do this and I have tried GSFinder but couldnt see how to do it in that either.
I know its possible in Resco, but i wanted something a bit more light weight if possible and it is not free.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I send a BT file using the default file explorer. Who told you it can't do the job ? I even had problems sending a file using Resco file explorer, it won't let m send any file, I get error message.
How do you send files via Bluetooth in the normal file explorer? I can see options to Beam file, send via mms and email. when I choose beam its to do with Infra Red.
When I use Resco I had no problems, chose send then by what method.
Thanks for your reply.
You select the beam file option from the menu, then wait, it will first try to send via infrared then will look for bluetooth receivers in the area. I just found this out the other day myself. I also think you need to have receive all beam types checked also (which I think is the default) [Start/Setting/Connections/Beam].
I have problems sending files from a PC to the Wizard... how do you use bluetooth to send it over?
Can we send files from a PC to the wizard using bluetooth? Is there any other way to manage files on the PDA without activesync?

You are quite right! I chose that option and only saw the infra red option, my tip to anyone wanting to do this is activate bluetooth, ensure other bluetooth device is close and the press beam, it will search and find the bluetooth device!
Thanks tekknogenius
Hi,
I have this annoying problem with my Prophet. I cannot transmit or receive files through bluetooth. I thought it is a WM 5 thing, but it works on my friends smartphone and dell PDA.
Did i do the ROM upgrade incorrectly, or is this inline with the patch of bad luck that i am getting with my prophet?
Cheers,
Oz.
Please, describe what are you doing when you try to send/receive files...
Hi
Go to settings>connections>beam and make sure its ticked to "recieve all incoming beams"
To send files just search them using the provided file explorer, tap and hold and then select "beam file"
IT will then search for nearby BT devices. Click tap to send.
You can beam to loads of ppl at once as well, so thats cool.
The one thing I cant work out as of yet is how to change my default recieve directory from My Documents. I want to recieve files on my storage card *grrr* but I guess it will ahve to do for now.
Hella all
First post
Got my HD love the Phone, but i have a slight problem, when i recieve Files via Bluetooth/Beam they dissapear into the abyss, i cannot find them anywhere, i have tried the search programme and traweld through every directory on my phone what if anything am i doing wrong?
slp
/Documents maybe ?
You are lucky to start ur WM experience with a device like HD
Nothing in /documents, i tried again today, wrote down the file name before it was sent so i couldn`t go wrong, did a search for the file, nothing found, its driving me mad
If you're using a programme like 'obex inbox' which lets you specify where to receive bluetooth files and if by chance you haven't configured it or configured it to receive files to 'My Device', then I believe you'll get the kind of behaviour you're describing. So, to check if you have obex inbox installed check in settings\connections and also in programs if it is there, and if it is, change the directory for receiving files.
Hopefully this should provide you some clue as to what might be going wrong...
Good Luck
Try /FTP in the storagecard. And to check if your phone received try sending an mp3 file then go to Music and click on Library > All Songs and your phone should search for every mp3 file. If the file couldn't be found there, then that means your phone failed to receive it!
Try DrYar bluetooth. It works much better, lets you specify incoming directory, and it installs an icon on main screen for quick bluetooth on/off . I had a lot of problems on my Hermes with default bluetooth also, and this is just so much better.
DrYar bluetooth
very quick silly question, cos i had a friend with the same issue.
When you are recieving the beam, you get the icon at the top. and when it has finished beaming, it is not yet saved, so you cannot access it. Now normally you should get a notification that you have received a file and ask you if you want to save it.
If the notification does not appear, tap the beam icon at the top and then it should.
tap yes and then it should appear in my documents or the folder you set in bluetooth FTP.
If it's not that, sorry for being daft, but you'd be amazed how many times i've been asked that on various different HTC phones...!
