Back up - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Recently upgraded my pda from O2 XDA II to prophet. I have a problem transferring my calendar appointment and contacts to my new device. I'm using a sprite back-up software. Backing up from my XDA II device was no problem but when restoring it to my Prophet ( Dopod Pro) the pop up message will tell me that the back-up came from another device, and proceeding with the procedure might render problem to the prophet. How do I make a back up from a PPC 2003 (XDA II) to a WM (Dopod 818). Please help

Why not synchronise your Calendar Appointments and Contacts on your WM2003 with Outlook and then synchronise the Dopod 818 just afterwards?

BAck-up problem/ Data Transfer Problem from PPC2003 to WM5
I have one more problem. I can't make a connection with my PC. The connector on my XDA are destroyed and impossible ffor me to synchronize it to my PC. Can't even charge the batteries. Is there any way to transfer the data thru my SD card? Tried all sorts of backing up methods but to no avail. My prophet recognizes that the data backed up was a pc2003 data and will not accept on restoration. Please help me how to go about this problem. Thanks

what about bluetooth connection? or IR?

thanks for the suggestion Acer

All contacts wiped on JAM

Hey,
Yesterday i was using my JAM fine, contacts were all there and everything, then today i open up my contacts and they are all missing?
The only thing i ran was maybe the club imate email config program, thats it.
Anyone have any ideas why this would happen?
I had to transfer them all from my sim again.
Thanks
T
Yep, that's what happens when you run that program. It tries to sync with Imates server and erases all of the information on your Phone. Lesson learned. Never do it again. I deleted Club Imate from my phone all together. :-(
the same happened to me. jam was turned to use server connection (to connect to i-mate services) and all local contacts were erased . . .
same experience here! never installed the imate customizations after that. if you sync with your desktop regularly i'm sure you'd get your contacts back
that is, actually, what i did

Weird problem with JAM and ActiveSync

I own 128 MB JAM since March 2005 and use it with T-Mobile USA.
In May I installed 1.11.00 WWE upgrade. I had it synchronized with my desktop and laptop and it worked fine for me.
Last week I was on the Business trip and used the JAM only as a phone and a PDA.
When I've got back home I tried to synchronize and charge it as usual.
Synchronization started, but after 25-30 secs it gave me a message within the ActiveSync window "Connected. Synchronization error" and then immediately after that it changed to "Not connected".
I tried again - same result.
Next I tried to synchronize it with my laptop - same story.
After all I tried to delete partnerships and create new - no result. I am able though to connect as a guest.
At that point I decided to try the hard reset. By coincidence that same day I saw the news that ROM 1.13.00 WWE became available. I successfully installed it and tried to ActiveSync without installing the back-up then - no luck, same problem.
As well I'd like to mention that I have HP iPAQ 2215 and I can synchronize it with both computers without any problems.
So it looks like something is wrong with the JAM.
I hope you guys can help me to fix this problem...
Alex,
Had this problem also but my hard reset solved it. Have you tried re-installing Activesync? You may also want to take a look under C:\Documents and Settings\{Your Desktop}\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles to check if indeed the profile data was deleted properly. Goodluck!
Yes, I did hard reset, uninstalled the ActiveSync, erased all files in the 'Profiles' folder, disconnnected the cable, rebooted the desktop, downloaded the latest version of AS from the MS website, lnstalled it.
Then installed the AS, connected the cable, and tryed to establish the partnership.
SAME negative result.
It created the partnership and wright after it said 'Connected. Synchronization error' and immediately droped connection.
I am puzzled here...
I'm stumped! Usually a HR solves this for me... Have you tried a Bluetooth sync (this may be a temp workaround til you find the solution) have you tried using a diff USB port and/or cable to sync your device?
bnycastro,
Thanks for your help.
No, I did not try the bluetooth sync yet, but I definitely know that it is my JAM's problem now.
This morning I installed the latest version of ActiveSync available on the MS website on my daughter's PC. ActiveSync was never installed there before.
Then I tried to sync the JAM - same problem as I described in the previous posts. Right after that I paired my HP 2215 and no problem. It work as it supposed to.
It is a real mistery cause between the last time I was able to syncronize the JAM and the time the problem occure I did not install any software, did not pair it with any other PC... I only used it as a phone and a PDA on the trip.
The only what I noticed is that all of a sudden it started to freeze after every 10 -15 min of use. But now after I flashed the ROM to 1.13.00 it works normally except for the syncing problem.
Any other ideas how I can fix it?
I would really appreciate your help...
I'd suggest the Bluetooth sync and maybe taking it (your device) for service.

OBEX Bluetooth problems on XDA-mini-S

Hi, i have an O2 XDA-mini-S Wizard running the "as shipped" ROM (1.5.4.2 WWE)
I find i am unable to send or receive file transfers via bluetooth. i have tried to send/receive with my Ipaq 2210 (win 2003 ROM 1.10.07 Eng) and also a friends Orange branded (orange Uk ROM) M500/Magician.
I have tried using the windows file manager and also Resco explorer.
Any ideas or help?
OK, a small update (and bump)
I got annoyed with all the O2 stuff on my mini-s so did a hard reset and got rid of their junk.
I doubt that has made a difference in itself, but more likely its removed any settings i made whilest playing with my new phone
Wizard-> Ipaq works ok
Ipaq -> Wizard, shows the wizard as an option but is "unable to connect"
Wizard <-> Magician Doesn't even see as an option (for OBEX file transfer, we tested to make sure contacts can be exchanged)
I have exactly the same problem with my Qtek9100. I'm in bad need of being able to transfer contacts between my cellular phones/pda and my wizard. Wizard -> Phone/pda works fine, but the other direction only results in an "unable to connect" message.
Another dilemma is to send files from my computer (with a BT dongle) to the Wizard. My PC doesn't even recognize a file transfer functionality towards the Qtek.
Is there a list of which Bluetooth services that the Wizard offers, and maybe a comparison to other handhelds?
Any comments on this is highly appreciated!

Activesync stink

Using 4.1, got Qtek Rom on a Vario. Been syncing fine for weeks, now...just says connecting. It must be my Vario as my E200 connects no probs and syncs up properly. Tried going back to 3.8 (yeah I know) 4.0 and re-installing 4.1 but it won't connect...any idead argh !?
Hi there,
What message do you get? Getting settings I suppose?
Disable the firewall and try again ( this helped me, while upgrading a Wizard of a friend!)
Good luck!
Activesync Problems
I had this problem too - was syncing just fine for weeks then all of a sudden nothing. Managed to narrow it down (unfortunately had to delete the as profile each time and start anew) and I can safely say that in my case at least it was due to the "Synchronised Files" feature. I decided not to use synchronised files (i.e. I unchecked "Files" under "Options") and now I have it syncing everything else perfectly - on two separate PCs with absolutely no more issues.
Hope this helps mate.
Forgot to mention I have an o2 mini s. (Not the XDAII as indicated <--)

Did you install any firewall software? Do you have active firewall when running AS? Did you regedit your Wizard's registry in branches of AS?
Well at least you get some connection.
When I connect my KJAM I get the normal 'ding dong' and then NOTHING.
If I connect my old PDA2K to the same port it works fine!!!!!!!
Robin
Thanks for the help. I disabled my firewall (Kerio), reset the PC, did the other network hacks to try and get activesync to work. But it wouldn't.
But like I said my E200 (Voyager) sync'd no probs. Somehow as mentioned I think the registry got upset by some fiddling and a hard reset was the the cure then many hours getting it back to settings again, re-installing aps on mem card so I could see them on the phone as icons etc etc.
My device is a Vario with a Qtek Rom (tried K-Jam like the less stuff on the Qtek) with the extended Rom unlocked.

Didn't think to try this. I actually had this prob on my Magician (MDA compact) before I sold it. Should have remembered. Cheers.
Hello,
In fact activesync seems to be te culprit of most my 9100 problems and slowdowns.
I am currently using Activesync 4.1.4841 and when synchronizing with my Wizard everything seems to be working correctly for a first sync. Then I disconnect it from USB, wait a few seconds and try to sync again and it takes forever...slowing down the Pocket PC drastically (until soft-reset)...until returning a timeout message:
"Synchronization cannot be completed sucessfully. Reconnect your device and try again. If the problem persists, see the Microsoft ActiveSync Troubleshooter in Microsoft ActiveSync Help on your desktop computer."
Any ideia how this might be solved?
Cheers,

Transferring data from Wizard to Hermes

I'm upgrading from the T-Mobile Vario (Wizard) to the Vario 2 (Hermes). What's the best way to get all my data across (contacts, bookmarks, files, calendar items etc.)? Is it as simple as syncing the old one, then the new one? Thanks.
Sync the wizard with Outlook on your desktop...then sync your Hermes with Outlook....
Thanks. My next question would be, since my original laptop died, outlook on the second laptop doesn't have any of my contacts, calendar items etc. In fact, I've never synced my wizard with this laptop. Is there anything I should do (i.e. settings, installations) besides installing activesync before I sync the wizard and then the Hermes? Want to make sure I don't somehow end up wiping everything off the wizard, as I don't have the info that's on it anywhere else.
active sync won't erase it, it will see all your info on the wizard and copy it to your computer, just like it will see there is nothing on my hermes and stuff on your laptop, hence copying it to your hermes.
Thanks again!
Can't seem to get them wizard to sync... I installed activesync, connected the wizard, both the device and the pc say connecting, after a short while the device stops trying, and activesync looks like it's still trying, and nothing happens. I went to zonealarm and added the three files mentioned in the help menu. Is there anything else I need to do before I can connect and set up a partnership?
Turns out the problem was zonealarm after all. I disabled it and the sync worked fine, laptop got updated, then the Hermes. Not sure why zonealarm was still causing this issue since I added the three files as instructed in the online help...
