Wi-Fi Shortcut on Today Screen - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 General

Hi All
Does anybody know or has utility to create shortcut to turn on/off Wi-fi on Today screen? I really need it 'coz it can save my time when I want to control it.
Thanks
Mr.T

...I guess thats not really what you mean ?!

You can use VJVolubilis if you have software that allows you to put links to programs on your today screen, or else put the wifi toggle command in your list of permenant start programs. The registry hack doesn't seem to do anything other that show the status of the bluetooth and WIFI connections on my universal. You can get VJVolubilis from http://www.vijay555.com/

I've tested this software alreay. But, it didn't work on my PPC.
(Dopod 818 Pro with WM5). Anyway, thanks so much for your info.

@Theerayuth
There was some mentione here, that VJVolubilis actually does work on the prophet, after you have at least once manually turned on/off the Wifi in the Com Manager.
Now I wondering, if we do use the wifi toggle at startup, will this enable VJVolubilis to work afterwards without the need for one turning on/off in Com Manager?
Any thoughts?

This works on the m600, but clicking it only opens the comm manager, just as fat to click the comm manager button!

I'm afraid that it work on m600 only, but, not apply to Dopod 818 Pro. May be I have to find other softwares to handle it. Anyway, thanks so much for your info.

In my case (XDA Neo) I've just copied Windows\WiFiInit.lnk to Startup folder and after that wifi switching with VJVolubilis works fine. even after device restart.

Turn Bluetooth ON/OFF from Today?

Is there any programs that will let me turn Bluetooth & WiFi on/off directly from the today screen?
By directly I mean a toggle switch rather than a link to the settings page?
Anyone know of one? I've got SPB PockePlus installed, but that doesn't seem to have that option in there?
Thanks
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis
That seems like it'll do the trick, but PocketPlus won't let me assign arguments to an exe, so is there anything freeware that can?

Create a link (.lnk) to the .exe. Put all the arguments you need in it. Use the link with pocketPlus.
How do I create a link/shortcut on the PPC though, I have no option in the context menus?

Start > Programs > File Explorer
tap&hold on the ap, choose "Copy"
tap&hold in an empty area, choose "Paste Shortcut"
I recommend using Total Commander instead. It has a built-in simple text editor, which makes it easier to edit that shortcut than opening it up in Pocket Word and whatnot.
And for very specialist markets, where an app that won't let you use shortcuts at all, try VJBrisk.

Sorted, got it working now. Thanks chaps.
Just on the look out for some Bluetooth icons to show on or off. Also, any progress on getting the wifi to work without have to enable it first via comm manager?
Scottland - not just yet, I haven't had a wizard to play with so far, so can only really test on the Universal. One day, I'll do it...

hehe, no rush. Thanks for the program

Go here and register for modaco if you are not a member in order to download the attachment. It is a small program that toggles bluetooth. I usually use my voice command to run it although you could put it in your start menu or on your today screen I guess if you want it there.

Anybody knows this today plugin?:

Hi,
Please look at http://www.clubimate.com/ProductImages/devices/PPC_Spec_Sheet1.jpg
Here you can see a todayplugin that shows whether a bluetooth headset is connected.
Can anyone tell me which plugin this is and were to download it?
Thanks in advance
There are several plugins in that picture which one are you talking about?
The one that says 'Bluetooth headset mode enabled'.
He means the plugin for the wireless bluetooth headset. This is what i have been looking for for ages. This feature doesn't exist anymore on WM5 i think. :?
Greetz ET
It's superb!!! As far as we cannot have a BT indicatot on the titlebar - it's somethning that resove the issue that many of us are asking on the forum...
UPDATE: I think I found it :!: Check out http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=200102 - in the middle of the page there's screen shot showing the same plugin.
I yhink your mistaken, that thread is about the pluging just aboven the headset plugin. Thats a "profile" plugin.
Greetz ET
Oh yes, You're right I havent' reaad those posts too carefully.
I tried to google a little and every device I see with this plugin enabled is i-mate - maybe it's something bulid-in into the i-mate ROM...
Let's hop some ROM-extractors  & i-mate owners will read this thread!
I think thats the only solutions for the problem. Someone needs to extract this feature from the i-mate ROM and create a CAB file for us to install.
Or mayby a registry change will fix this?
So please someone help!
Greetz ET
I guess that only works if that tool also supports the wizard's hardware.
Otherwise that's useless...
That's not nescaserely true, i have been using a cab file extracted from a dell axim ROM to be able to see on the bottem toolbar the status of a bluetooth connection, and this works great, it's called BTIcon, and it's designed for WM2003(SE).
The plugin we are talking about in the screenshot is an i-mate working on WM2003. So, IMHO it might work. 8)

Does it allow toggling of the bluetooth status too? if so, could you upload that onto here, or email it to me please
I've been looking for something to do this for a while
It's freeware, so I'll share it with you guys.
Greetz ET
And this one as well.
Greetz ET
Install both programs for the best result. Assign a software/hardware button for CicleBT. Now by pressing the assigned button, the status of the BT icon on the bottem toolbar will change. On screen you get a message of the status of bluetooth.
Greetz ET
Thanks for sharing, but still it's not the plugin of the screendump.
The problem is that both bars (top and bottom) are already full of information/icons zo there is no room.
The today plugin would fit better in my situaion.
I know it isn't but in the post before the attachment somebody specifictly asked for a bluetooth toggle app.
I'm still searching for thne headset plugin though

With this addition, you can't actually control the action of turning BT and WIFI on and off. At least, that's how it seems to be on my wizard.

I used this on my T-mobile MDA. Which is pretty much the same as 8125. It works but with some problems.
I tried this but the wifi toggle shortcut doesnt work. It jus turns on the wifi. The bluetooth works fine though. Anyone have issues with the wifitoggle shortcut??
VJVolubilis on the Wizard isn't 100% finished yet. Read the last bit if the thread for a fix.

Last bit of which thread?
VJVolublis thread on this site. One registry entry that will start the wifi on boot up. After which, VJVolublis works properly on the Wizard.
But note I don't support the Wizard on it, I've never had one to test it on. That it works at all is serendipitous.
Use the wifion.exe file in your extended rom instead.

It may be more software that you want to install but I use PhoneAlarm. In addition to tracking phone functions it has buttons that allow you to toggle wifi and bluetooth.

MANY THANKS!!!!
This is just what I was searching for!!!!
THANK YOU!
I just installed a program called AEWifiTrigger (found here: http://ae.inc.ru/aewft.php)
Very simple. Works perfectly. Just put the .exe wherever you want on your phone and call it up as you wish (I have an Ultimate Launcher button mapped to it.)
Thanks for the previous apps....
Have you something similar for the GPRS CONNECTION?
VJVolubilis doesn't close my GPRS connection.....
Thank in advance....

Some bluetooth utils you might find useful

The first is A2DPSwitch. I wrote this a while ago and posted in the Kaiser forum. Posting it here because I made some changes and think some here might find it useful. It simply toggles the connection to an A2DP headset. Simply run the exe and if connected it will disconnect. If disconnected it will connect. The new changes are that now it checks to make sure BT is on first, and turns it on if it isn't. The other is a fix. Before if there was a non A2DP headset and an A2DP headset in range sometimes it wouldnt work. Now it always finds the A2DP headset. Useful for those pesky car head units that don't automatically connect A2DP. The cab will place a shortcut in the start menu.
The second is BTKeepAlive. An exe that runs in the background and checks to make sure BT is on and turns it on if it isn't. The checking interval in milliseconds can be modified by changing HKCU\Software\JKing\BTKeepAlive\Interval (DWORD). The default value is 60000 (one minute) and if that reg value does not exist 60000 will be used. BTKeepAlive 1.1 can now also keep discoverable mode on. Set HKCU\Software\JKing\BTKeepAlive\KeepVisible (DWORD) to 1 and BT will be kept on invisibility mode. The default is 0. I know there is a mortscript written to do this but I would prefer not to leave this up to a mortscript. Also, BTKeepAlive will automatically check immediately after the device is woken from sleep. Run BTKeepAlive.exe to start it and run BTKeepAlive.exe again to terminate it. The cab will place shortcuts in the start menu and in startup, and will create the reg value.
While you're at it, why not assign A2DPSwitch to the long press of a volume key?
[/Shameless plug]
Now back to working on X1BC. Cheers!
Thanks. It's a must for buggy HTC bluetooth driver across all their devices. My Kaiser and X1 always drop A2DP connection after phone call, and it would not happen on my Asus P525 on Eten M600
why is it after i have installed it, it doesnt seem to run? it just show a blank icon and doesnt do anyhting. its for both programs.

The programs do not have interfaces. BTKeepAlive will just run in the background. click on it again and you will get a notification that it is exiting. A2DPSwitch toggles and A2DP connection. Do you have a wireless stereo headset?

I thought it was just that the Windows Mobile bluetooth stack just sucked at A2DP. Did either of those devices use the broadcomm/widcomm bluetooth stack?

I have just purchased an X1 and have the problem with bluetooth turning off constantly. I have downloaded the .cab files and unzipped them, but the setup file is an .xml file and there are no instructions.
I am prety new to this stuff and dont fully understand.

A cab file is an installer that you can run directly on your PPC. Just copy the cab file to your X1 using Active sync or by copying it to your storage card and open it on your X1 using the file explorer.

That is strange that you must keep bluetooth on visible for your head unit to connect. Sure, I will add a registry value "KeepVisible". If the value is 1 btkeepalive will keep visibility on.
Ok, version 1.1 uploaded. Set HKCU\Software\JKing\BTKeepAlive\KeepVisible (DWORD) to 1 and BT will be kept on invisibility mode. The default is 0.
Hey JKingDev,
great work!
I've already tested it. I changed the DWORD to 1 and now it keeps BT visible

Hmm, I am really not sure why that is. It should be in add remove programs as "Jonathan King's BTKeepAlive". How did you install it? Did you manually run the cab or did you use something like UC to install? To manually remove, stop the program, delete the shortcuts from \Windows\Startup and from \Windows\Start Menu\Programs, delete the program from \Program Files\BTKeepAlive, and delete the reg key HKCU\SOFTWARE\JKing\BTKeepAlive.
confirmed with my x1 too btkeepalive keeps on bluetooth all the time!!!! great work!
JKingDev, may i make a request ?? hmmm ! could you create a deamon that when the handsfree from your car connects the deamon would activate a2dp ??
this would be a killer deamon !!! like you said that car a2dp is a pain ...
This script works perfectly, thank you so much! My HTC Diamond disconnects bluetooth randomly when paired to my BMW bluetooth so hopefully it'll work as well in my car as it does when I toggle off bluetooth manually. One quick question, if I set the dword to 1000 (1 sec) will that have any impact on my battery? I'm hoping not as this is such a tiny program but I really have no idea.
