Calling cards (T-Mob now free 07744 numbers with x minutes) - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

T-Mob are now allowing calls to any suppliers 07744 numbers again out of X-Net Inclusive Minutes.
This means free international calls.
But I have to prefix the 07444xxx number to my contacts.
I do not want to save my contacts with the prefix because I also call them without the prefix (e.g. when roaming)
Is there an application to do that ? I've tried PhoneCard 1.2 but it doesn't seem to work...
Any other proram to dial a contact with a prefix ? or to dial a contact while in a call ?

I mean that you can call a 07744 provider and then call any international number... i
f you have x-network minutes allowance in your contract (
e.g.. 400minutes free) then you will not be charged for the call...
It will use your free minutes...

I wish there was something like that here on the other side of the Atlantic. I just tried calling 00447744200006 with my own calling card, thinking then to dial another international destination (because calls to the UK are cheaper than to that destination). My calling card does not allow calls to 00447744200006 - the call just does not get connected. That makes sense - my calling card wants to make their money too. :x

Dialling prefix in xda

need to dial international and domestic call frequently. however, unlike handspring treo, xda did not allow to recall the phone number from contact and then manually add the prefix, e.g. 00986 + city code + number... etc. Any suggestion here?

Yes. It'll take some time, but it'll solve your problem for once and all: change all your stored numbers to international format, e.g. +49 (89) 555255 for a number in Munich, Germany. Numbers in this format will work from everywhere in the world (the '+' does the magic here), and of course also from the country or town the called party is in.
It's probably much easier to do this in Outlook, then synchronise the numbers back to your XDA.
Cheers
Daniel
tks for your advice. however, in hong kong, we have many IDD service providers while if using "+", it will choose the most expensive service provider which i don't want to. well... i am always travelling around between hong kong and china and i have to add both local dial prefix and IDD dial prefix for each tel number, both office, mobile and home. you know, this is really really annoying and time wasting. hope there will be some temporary solutions here including some charged software solution.

App to transform dialed number, dialing rules

Hello, I currently have a Treo 650 and use a program called TakePhone to do some very useful dialing tricks. I travel to Singapore a lot from the US and when I am there I use a prepaid sim from StarHub. They have "free" dialing to the US (just pay for airtime) if you dial 018 rather than +1 before any numbers to the US. All of my phone book entries have +1 XXX for US numbers and I need to keep them that way because of auto synchronization. TakePhone can be told that when dialing from country code 65 (don't know how it can tell), replace +1 on numbers with 018 before dialing. It can also dial calling cards for you, etc.
I'll be getting my K-Jam soon and would like to replicate this functionality somehow. Anyone got any suggestions for Windows Mobile software to perform this task? I've never had a Windows Mobile device and hope that this can be done as easily as on the Treo.
Thank you in advance for any help!
bad news
+1 format numbers themselves will cause problems to you
You can not dial them directly from contacts some silly bug stops dialing.
The only solution I could find was to put a space between country code and + like " + xx (xxx) xxx xx xx "
Wonderful.

Current bounty $255 to anyone who creates these VoIP apps

I am prepared to pledge $30 for some of these hacks, to the first person to develop a working cab to enable them.
If you wish to join me, reply with your pledge and I will update the current bounty below:
$160: Route Kaiser VoIP calls through front speaker
$30: A ipdialplan.xml Dial Plan Wizard app for the WM6 devices including the Kaiser, which allows you to specify in simple fields how your phone book entries should be dialled out via VoIP, and also things like being able to ignore text characters after a number (e.g. +44 20 7841 1234 - Sales)
$65: An app to automatically set different SIP providers for incomings vs. outgoing calls. When phone is inactive, it is set to receiving incoming calls via VoIP provider #1. When you press dial, it sets itself to use VoIP provider #2 until you hang up. (Many people use a no-frills free calls company for outgoing, but a more advanced company for incoming.)
Anyone care to join me in adding to my pledge of $30 for your preference(s), or are able to start a fund on PayPal or somewhere?
Same here, $30 for
1. Speaker correction for Titan P4000 ( should be same problem as Kaiser)
This drives me crazy
I'm in for $50 for anyone that fixes the speaker issue. It is driving me insane

Please explain: do you mean when calling through GSM, dial using rule 1; when calling through SIP: rule 2. Or if there is a +49 in the listed number, then call using rule x ... Or if .......
Since the dialplan xml can support some of these ifs, I presume you are looking for something else, implied by the word 'simple' and wizard?
I simply mean a program that lets you enter your local dialling preferences purely for VoIP calls. This is a much requested feature. Such a program would allow me to specify such things as these:
My country code is +44
My prefix for international calls is 00
My prefix for national calls is 0
From that it should be able to translate the following sort of numbers for dialling out via VoIP using the dialplan file:
+44 20 1234 5678 becomes 020 1234 5678
020 1234 5678 remains 020 1234 5678
+1 404 123 4567 becomes 001 404 123 4567
"+1 404 123 4567 - Sales" becomes 001 404 123 4567
1471 remains 1471
And so on...

No takers ? I'll bump it to $60
Anyone ?
I am now updating the first post with a running total to get these things fixed.
i would love to donate if you can get 2 & 3 done. I use skype IM+ from shape services. Unlimited incoming calls on my plan, and when i dial out via skype it routes and incoming call back to me, and an outgoing call through the server... For full voice quality..??? i would love a dialer pad for that, or an option before i call to call via skype IM+ or normal call... Unless someone has a good voip program for skype that has full quality i would pay for a dialer program to do that .,.. (seems like option 2 and 3)
I will put you down for the $30 for options 2 and 3 then ambush276 unless you state otherwise.
yeah, if we can get it to work in the Skype IM+ fashion, like ive somewhat described... i would defiantly donate $30 to the cause...
the other positive thing about the +IM< is it dials out over VOIP (skype) but then it sends a incoming call to my phone and an outgoing to another phone, from the server. SO im not 100% what to do...

For me, the problem is that :
- you cannot rely on any non digit character
- you cannot even rely on the position of groups in the expression
as the parsing of the expression is beginning anywhere in the expression, where it can match the rule.
Example: the rule '123' matches any expression containing 123 (and not only beginning with 123 and having only 3 digits), as 123, or 9812357, or (123), 001 123 456 7890, ...
As I said in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1808972&postcount=19
Those who are using only this three type of phone entries (with or without any non digit characters inside the number):
- a number beginning with only one 0 (zero) = area code + local number -> in that case, you add the international code (+xx) and suppress the 0 before using it.
- a number beginning with 00 (2 zero) = international number -> in that case, the phone number can be used as it is.
- a number beginning with + = international number -> in that case, you change the + by 00 before using it.
have a very simple ipdialplan and it's simple to make a Dial Plan Wizard app (as you only have to adjust the ipdialplan with your international prefix for numbers beginning with only one 0).

PS Was the ipdialplan (updated with the right attachment) posted in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1806047&postcount=16 useful?
The thing is, if there were a wizard, then it would be for each user quite simple to find one that works for him, because he will know what he can rely on depending on how his phone book is formatted.
For me I format every number internationally, even local ones. So calling my neighbour in England, is still formatted as +44 20 1234 5678. But so far there is no dial plan that works for internationally formatted UK numbers, as my VoIP provider likes them converted into local numbers, e.g. 020 1234 5678.
A wizard would solve everything.
Small problem
In ipdialplan, what happens when more than one rule match the expression?
On my HTC Touch, with WM6, it's the last matched rule which is the selected one.
The answer of this question will decide the order of the rules.

I donate
- 20$ for voip sound coming through ear speaker (in all apps: WM6 VOIP, Skype, fring, ...) but also only if one works (like the WM6 VOIP) then its worth the 20$
- 5$ for config with 2 SIP Providers (one for incoming, the other for outgoing)
go for it freaks!

Pre-Selection Voip for Phonebook

Hi @ all,
I have a question or request. First let me explaine the situation.
I use justVoip.com for calling German Cells cheaper and the USA for free. I call justVoips Landline for free (because I have a landline-flat) and they forward the call to the desired number. I used to just save their number before the contacts number seperatet by a "P" (pause): 08912345P0172123456
When receiving calls my Motorola would still recognize the Call-id, also with the voip number in front of it. But my X1 now doesnt recognize calls with their number inserted...
So my question is... either is there a way to have two seperate phone books running parallel or is there maybe a software that always asks if the preselection should be added when making a call??
Or a nother solution I didnt think of yet..
Hope this wasn't to complicated and you kinda now what i mean...
thanks..
Danny

Google Voice is not using my local number to dial out.

I have my gv # on my friends and family list. I guess this means I'm using minutes when I use gv to dial out.
Does anyone know how this works?
You will want to download the "Google Voice" app from the Droid Marketplace. Also if you search these forums there are how-to's on how to set it up to replace your Verizon voicemail as well as using it to call out/have calls come in. If you need more help after that let me know (also I would happy to take a GV invite off your hands if you have one to spare =p, *note* I will continue to help you regardless ).
I've already downloaded that app and I love how it works except for not using my local gv number when I dial out. It seems to use a random, simi-local number each time.
You've got an invite either way. PM me your email address and I'll figure out how to send the invitation.
Thanks for your help.

Just wondering, I'm not sure if this is related to your issue, but did you have caller ID blocked in any way before/during setting up GV?
Edit: Also for making outgoing calls, are you calling your GV number and then dialing out from there? Using that method or calling directly from your computer SHOULD make your GV number appear when you call someone (the GV app is suppose to do this for you, btw if you need help testing this I can PM you my phone number... free weekend mins and all =p).
Force GV Settings
Another thing you can try is going to https://www.google.com/voice/#callsettings and setting the "Caller ID (out)" to your GV number. This might force GV to display the correct number. What it sounds like they are doing now is drawing from a pool of random numbers in the area (for whatever reason, I don't know why) that they control and routing your call through them.
From what I have read, there is no way to dial straight out through gv. You have to dial your own gv number and use the #2 option.
I think I had a Window's Mobile app on my Touch Pro that did that for me.

No, right under that option it says this:

That's not how it works with the native Android app. It's much quicker/easier and it dials some other "special" number, not your own GV number.

That defeats what I want it for - free calls.
My GVoice app seems to dial the same number every time. When you start a call using your GVoice number, just look at the pop up that says "Calling via Google Voice ###-###-####' and add that to your Verizon Friends & Family numbers. Your bill will show that you call that number over and over, so all outgoing calls are free. Incoming calls will not be free unfortunatelly :-/

Hey gentleart sorry for the late reply, I've been afk for a couple days thanks to my gf working the front desk at a Pediatrician's office x.x (curse those snot-bubbling runts, we went through 30 packs of ramen noodles and tea in the last few days =p).
I didn't notice that "Caller ID (out)" only applied to text, I wrote that before I had access to GV and that was a recommendation I read on their board. Even if that were true for making phone calls though, it might not solve your problem. I'll make a thread on the Google Voice help site about this specific problem though (I'll PM you the link once the post is up) and if an answer arises out of it, I'll post it back in this forum for public knowledge (BECAUSE KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! ugh sorry... x.x).

J/W, under Google Voice's "Calls" settings, have you tried changing "Caller ID (in)" to "Display my Google Voice number"? For some reason I have a feeling that you would still get billed for the incoming call (I can't wait until cell phones work like landlines) plus you wouldn't know who was calling (possibly forcing you to talk with relatives or even worse... ex-significant others x.x).
If you are a heavy enough phone user to need this you would probably want to switch to the unlimited plan, but I'm just curious how it would work with Verizon. For now though, I'm going to try and figure out why some people are getting multiple outgoing GV numbers when using the Android app (I think if you are in a heavily populated area - by GV users at least - that it might just cycle you out to another number... but there should be a way to force it to use your number without having to dial manually).

This is what I did, and I can confirm that all outgoing calls are free. I also added my GV number to my "10" so that when family calls it's included. Unfortunately you can't have your cake and eat it too, your incoming calls will be charged minutes just like they've always been. I just have it go to my work phone while I'm at work, and answer it for free using my land line.

Install Google Voice Callback. This routes your calls via the web for dialing purposes and then google voice calls you back. Now outgoing calls are free if you have friends and family, and incoming calls are free if someone calls your google voice number.
You still have to have a pretty high priced contract with Verizon to get friends and family though.
For fear of sounding like an idiot I just have to ask.. I got a Google invite finally and now I'm not sure what I want to do. I really need to keep my current cell number because I have a billion business cards with this number, but I want the awesome voicemail service. I'm guessing I should choose the Voice Mail option only and I will not lose my current number? Does this sound about right?

The number you see pop up when you dial should actually be the same each time. You should put that number in your friends and family and then using google voice out should not use minutes.
This may help, put this text in a Google search and take the top link
