I am considering buying a Universal and one concern is that the camera is only 1.3 mp....many reviews have said that 1.3 mp cameras are poor at best ....worthless use of space at worst...
Can any of you Universal users comment on your use of camera?? Can you get good pics from it ....or is it truly a waste of space?
thanks
on the fence...
Scott
The camera is not that great but this might be of assistance, have not tried it personally as I have a good digital camera

It's not the best camera I've used but if you have a stable hand then it can work pretty well.

I am not too impressed with the camera either, but then again, it's my first camera on a phone and I am used to digital camera quality. I use it for taking snapshots, and I use a good digital camera for photo's. That's the way it should be.
It just comes in handy when I'm on the road or whatever, because I always carry the phone with me, whereas I do not have a digital camera with me all the time.
I think it's just handy and the quality doesn't matter all that much for it's purpose.
look for more photos made by the universal here: http://www.newmobile.nl/eur/en/photos.php?phone_id=12bb134
you can also find photos on that site taken with other phones for comparing..
thanks everyone
thanks for the advice on universal camera
Much appreciated!!

Hi,
Been using various itje roms since i got my phone (but 8 months ago) I noticed after I put on the touch vista rom that my camera was taking awful pictures. I dont think it should be rom related, I just tried the touch 7 rom and it was the same. I prefer the vista one so ive gone back to that. Is it worth going back to an official release and trying ?
Ive gone through all the settings, its on 2MP shooting to sd card, on single shot mode (all modes including video have the same look) Ive checked all the settings i can think of. Whitebalance is auto. Effect is None. Quality is 2M (1600X1200) Fine.
Ill attach a picture to show you. I really hope it is software based and not the camera itself. Phone has been well looked after so it really should not be damaged. Externally it looks fine.

honestly i would try touch it 4 and see what happens
but when you say it takes horrible pics is it blurred like give us a discription
I included a picture which I thought was fairly self explanitory. The pics look like they have been posterised. The colors are separating distinctly, almost like its working with a limted colour set.
well it could be that the connection from the camera to the phone is a bit outta place but dont quote me lol
i work for motorola XD
I just found this over at DPReview Fujifilm forums of a person who shot this macro series with an HD2 and a attachable lens. Amazing I agree.
BTW, after checking the pictures properties, I think he has a HD2Android (It says HTC Desire) =D

yaw dropping. those pictures look great!
where can i buy one!
wow~~ very nice!!! where can we get this " Fujifilm FinePix Macro Lens Adapter"? Any idea?
Although the pictures were edited by photoshop, it still looks great! i wish to get one.
Anyway, after i install android on my HTC HD2, i just download Fxcamere! It is fun too... anyone use this before? We could take pic with effects like "toy cam", "Paloriod" and "Fish eye"! and the picture effect is nice too! hehe..... If you havent tried it, you should give it a try~
I'd love one too if anyone could find it.
I dont care that he fixed it in photoshop, the result looks amazing anyways!
I have heard of people using a lense from reading glasses placed over the camera lense getting pretty good results taking macro shots. Im gonna try n make me a macro lense this weekend, will post back results. Also in addition to fxcamera, try funny warp. You can photo yourself or friend and warp them. I have made some pretty cool images by drawing a face on paper and using funny warp on it lol (dont got no friends and im too ugly when i take a pic the app says already warped enough)

Motorola XOOM
Notion Ink Adam
wow... The difference is crazy.
Edit: just watched the video... NI's video sucks, I wonder why it can't stay focused...
They should have stuck with a better camera resolution. nevertheless the darn clicking noise was unacceptable. And frame rate change was also a shock to me when I looked at the video info.

Thanks for posting this, inspiron41!
I am generally happy with my Adam Pixel Qi. I do have the same focus issues.
The problem when a company (NI) uses a cheap part (the camera) it really cheapens the entire product. NI probably saved a $1 or $2 dollars. Hard to see how Rohan could think this to be bleeding edge technology and living his "dream" when you cut corners needlessly.
Wow thats bad....wth is that clicking noise.....If there is a way to fix this, I will, even if I have to open the damn thing and replace the motor or the camera....is that clicking noise present during recording only or during recording and playback?

Hi Z5 Users! Just curious how we can get a good shot with moving objects?.... or anyone can show how to do it in a proper way?.... As I'm wondering how Sony did the following shots in their website? As I myself is always ending up with either focus center and blurry shots outside the focal point of the picture, or mostly with blur edges or noisy pic, do we have to always use a tripod to get a good moving shot? (especially for me with shaky hands lol).

I don't believe they shoot those pics with a phone, didn't believe it as soon as the pics came online.

Use sports mode. In Scenes
Or Manual with low ISO and lowered Exposition im good light.
In a more difficult light with a slightly higher ISO which pushes faster shutter speeds. And lowered Exposition.

These cameras are really only sold for the zoom feature. The fact is, there’s a reason that the equipment needed for quality photos of distant subjects in motion is so expensive. At the end of the day, these Nikon cameras are just your slightly above average point-and-shoot cameras with a giant plastic lens and some newer optical zoom/stabilization tech. The autofocus capability and sensor tech suffer from the same issues most other cheaper cameras do. That being said, there’s no real throwing money at the situation to even come close to that zoom capability otherwise, hence why it’s pretty special/unique in the space. Even if you’re a pro wildlife photog and are one of the few Canon 1200mm L series owners for example, you still aren’t getting as close with zoom and that lens costs more than some houses. But if you’re looking to get into taking better stuff of your kids sports and birds in your backyard, consider getting into photography and buy something with better autofocus and image quality over something like the p900/p1000. I’d Nox Vidmate VLC recommend something from the Sony a6XXX series and a 70-200/70-300 personally as a starting point for anyone going down that rabbit hole.
