I have some sd card, the original total memory is 2gb,1gb but they have some nonunderstanded problems and now their total memory is 10-20Mb. I tried to use partition magic 8.0, windows xp untillity, Softwinter storage tool 2.0 to format and repair them but these softs did't help me. Can any one help me?
Thanks alot!
use Paragon Partition Manager Professional v6 it can help solve problem if it related to wrong partition creation
Try to perform a low level format, perhaps it's called FACTORY FORMAT TOOL. Or Copy the first 512 bytes use winhex from other 2G sd cards. I used to got the same problem, and yes it works.

i have ridata pro 1GB SD Card 66x that is broken, the problem is it can only store 28mb after 28mb it will say that the card is not working properly. can this be fix?
IF you have a card reader/writer, then format it on Windows XP or whatever OS, then go to command prompt and type:
CHKDSK I: /R
(I: is the drive letter of your SD card reader/writer)
The /R option will check the disk for physical errors & replace bad clusters with hidden files, so the device will avoid reading/writing to these corrupted clusters (skipping).
Im glad that there is still a possible solution for my 1GB but why not using pocket pc to format SD? like resco explorer it has a sd format option.
yes you can, but formatting your SD card on Windows make it possible for the File System to locate bad sectors in the SD & mark them in the FAT allocation table as hidden files, so your PPC OS won't get stuck while accessing the bad areas on your SD!
I recommend the Windows format.
Thanks! ill do that! hope it works..
It shall work; because it works with hard drives!
They both have the same storage techniques (clusters, sectors, FAT allocation table, ... ) 8)
i believe there is an app called MMC medic.. maybe it can help you somehow and retrieve some lost files..
Is there some way to do this via WM5? Or is there a utility that you need to do it? Is there a freeware app out there that can do this?
My storage card freaked out a little and now isn't showing files that are on there, although it is reporting that the disk space is being used.
I don't have a link on me at the moment, but look around the forum for a program called Storage Tools. It should let you format the card as you wish.
I use my laptop to format the storage card.
spb pocket plus has a format function for the file explorer to allow formatting within the device, otherwise, i have a card reader and use the laptop to format, or my other laptop has a built in memory card reader that can format it.
i think also resco explorer can format the card also, i can check if you havent resolved this yet.
If you have some time read this article.

storagetools
That utility did the trick. Thank you.
Experiment a little with your format parameters.
I found that FAT32, 4kb cluster and no Backup fat is the best settings for my specific needs and Sandisk highspeed card.
Lower clustersizes reduce slack (lost space) but increases memory needs and write time. No golden rule here.
Also take a look at this info from msdn: FAT File System Registry Settings
I use a 0x10026 for the flags in the FATFS key.

Hi everybody,
I have a problem with my sd card.
I have a 4Gb transcend 150x card in my G4 prophet (s200) and reading is so slow.
Here i post a benchmark done by sktools:
Storage Card (write) : 31.75 Kb/sec
Storage Card (read) : 798.18 Kb/sec
I think reading time is so slow.
I have spanish qtek rom 2.20 and test was done using sktools 3.1.1
I have formated the sd in fat32 using computer sd card reader, but nothing goes better.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
umm this is just a thought but have you checked the partition?
thats usually the end of most problems regarding SD cards.
What do you mean whith checking the partition?
I have formated the card twice one with panasonic formater
Best.
no check and rebuild the partition, formatting wont do much if the partition is corupted.
get something called Partition manager you can get a demo version that will do it. use your card reader and delete the active partition (remember to get your info off it first) then reinstall the partition format and mount the card.
see if that helps
Thanks very much, it seems that partition is ok and i also tried another memory card with the same results.
Could you please do the same test and tell me your results, rom version and memory brand and size.
Best.
hello,
i copied in the morning some folders into sdcard via.. card reader...
then i went off with the card..
on the way.. i found out.. my sd card was empty somehow..
i softresetted, nothing fixed it..
when i refresh and view all files.. i see only strange characters and strange folder names..
and the sizes all together looks like 50 GB.
but in fact the pda tells me.. there is only 1,7 GB free instead 1,9 GB..
my sd card is 150x Adata 2 GB..
how can i fix this .. please help me out.. i dun wanna reformat this card, as i have important files on it.
yup you are the proud owner of a broken partition (very common with Fat16 and mobile devices)
from expereince ive found it happens alot with Fat16 and lots and lots of files (like those found in many of the better games or if you have alot loaded onto the card)
my recomendation is to get to a card reader and get some partition management software ( i like the trial version of Partition manager) and rebuild the partition on the card.
let me know how you go,
You can try downloading PC Inspector File Recovery, and running it on the card. It's freeware, and should work well given your card is formatted with an older filesystem.

You'll likely have to reformat your card, but at least you'll get your files back. If you do have to reformat, and your device supports FAT32, please format your card in FAT32 instead. It has a higher "tolerance" against this sort of failure.

mmmk with a broken partition you wont have alot of luck recovering file clusters, at the very least you will recover things that look like file.001, file.002, etc as most recovery programs will recover pure clusters regardless on data.
and yes Fat 32 is good but you will still get partition faults if you load too many files onto the card.
Hello,
i got my memory card locked on hd2, when i launch hd2 with memory card in it sayes: Storage card not working;
I tried installing "back to the future" rom - installed unlocker - tried unlocking but it sayes it's not locked(probably not recognizing sd), hard reset/reset you phone - result in: instead of showing it not locked - it sayes no sd card found.
All the time in "about" settings the free memory is not more then 30mb(depending on rom) - memory card is 2gb, so it's deffinatelly not recognized.
When i do mass storage via magldr/use adapter for microSD and connect it to pc via card reader - pc states that card needs format, but gives error that it's write-protected(with both protected/not modes on sd) - doesn't allows to format, disk manager/partition magic/partition wizard - show various results, but they cannot format the sd card, eventhough partition wizard shows 1partition only on sd and it's 1,3gb.
Tried formatting with nokia n97 mini - formats successfully, but shows 30mb total and makes it free - after plugging to a pc/hd2 - same results as previously happen.
My thoughts: i have 3 partitioned sd card(dk how this happened) with 30mb/1,3gb/rest partitions, and wp7 sd card unlocker doesn't recognize all partitions and cannot unlock it for me, but i dk why n97 does not format it successfully then :/
Looking forward to hear your thoughts,
Paul
Edited:
and yes, forgot to mention, i have tried mbrclean from both magldr/partition wizard - same result
did you try a program called SDFormatter
there are a few overwrite settings that maybe will work for you.
otherwise i'm wondering if linux would see and correctly reformat the disk for you.
you could run a livecd linux distro that wouldn't even have to be installed on your computer.
good luck
use easus partition manager and delete partitions and use format again
SDformatter - i have been using it all the time, same results with diff settings, easus partition master - same results as with other partition apps - it sees only 30mb partition(as same as n97 mini), currently i'm downloading ubuntu distro and will try partitioning sd card over ubuntu, hopefully it works, gonna post results soon
Ubuntu 11.10 - disk manager shows only 1partition of 32mb - it can't be formatted successfully, mbr partitioning system cannot be applied successfully - only non partition applied - but it still 32mb and hd2 doesn't recognize that 32mb partition, gonna go use hirens boot cd partition apps - if i wont have success with them - probably sd card broken :/
did you try gparted in ubuntu??
sorry this stuff isn't working out
i formated my sd card with nokia n97... everything was ok... Just find some partition manager and format the sd card with it...
