Does anyone know which application is used to the "Programs" option in the start menu?
I want a shortcut on my today page, but linking to the \Start Menu\Programs links to file explorer, rather then the programs option in the start menu.

WM5's default limit is 7 items. is there any way to modify the registry to allow us to add more than 7 items into start menu?
BTW, is it possible to add the memory icon to the start menu?
thanks advance.

Unfortunately, the 7-item limit is hard-coded into Windows Mobile.
More than 7 items would cause the menu to be longer than the screen-size when rotated.
There's no native way to add the memory icon to the start menu, but there are utilities out there that will create shortcuts to the control panel items for you. If I'm not mistaken, PHM Powertoys did that once upon a time.
thanks very much!!
try file explorer
haven't tried this myself, since I really don't need more than 7, after playing around with hard keys and app keys. But I think you just copy the shortcuts under /windows/Start Menu/Programs straight into /windows/Start Menu. I usually make programs that were installed manually show up in "Programs" by placing shortcuts in /windows/Start Menu/Programs, so that I can use the Menu and Buttons applets to map keys and manage the Start Menu. also, I get rid of old Start menu items that way by deleting them from /windows/Start Menu. So, try putting more than 7 shortcuts and see what happens.

i tried but doesn't work....should give up?
You can create folders to bypass the 7 item limit: my start menu contains "Office" (folder) and "Outlook" (folder) and that way I have quick access to all of the outlook functions and office functions without a seperate icon for each on the start menu.
Now if someone could figure out how to implement a cascading start menu...
You can also use small menu

thanks for all your posting!
When you click on Programs on the Start Menu you get the Programs window, right?
How can I link to that?
I want to add it to an icon on cLaunch. Tried the "windows\start menu\programs" but it opens file explorer in that location. I want to access the same window you get if you tap "Programs" in the start menu.
Anyone?
Thanks!
erm its difficult.
The easiest way to get to the same looking window for Programs is to get hold of a file called Folderview.exe. That does it. But it only does that folder anyway.
If you can program or create a script then you can launch the programs screen by sending keystrokes to the Start menu but again only shows that folder.
If you want to show the files in any folder but in icon view rather than list then you can either get something which changes the built in file manager to show icon view or else use a separate file manager for it like Explorer (formerly gsfinder++). That way you get the same sort of look.
Sorry I dont have the links to all this stuff but it might help you searching.
Folderview.exe... can't find it. is it supposed to be part of WM6 or is it an add-on?
See if this works
From the "IPhone like..." thread, see if this works.
\Windows\fexplore.exe"\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

it's added to wm6 devices by HTC as part of the HTC today plugin.
got it. Its just what wanted. but...
Internet favorites files dont show up, but that is not so bad.
The other diference between this prog and clicking the "programs" link on the start menu is that, when I enter a folder, "Games" for example, if I press hardware key "OK", the program closes, while if i clicked the "programs" on the start menu, and entered the "Games" Folder and pressed "OK" it would go back to the original "programs" window.

That's interesting ...remember what it was called? Google returns empty.
Hi!!!
How can I put in my "Programs" menu programs like Internet explorer and other programs that are not in the usual programs directory??
Thanks!!!
Hit Start > Settings > Menus. Uncheck the ones you want to appear in the Programs folder and hit the ok button.
You can move them into sub-folders as well if you so wish using Total Commander i.e. Start > Programs > Applications > Internet Explorer.
Its simply a case of moving the shortcuts from Windows\Start Menu\Programs into the folders you want.
Thanks but how can I put there the internet explorer?
How can I make shortcut at my diamond??
Thanks!!
How can I remove items from the All Programs list?
Remove shortcuts....
The items in your 'All Programs' list are shortcuts. You can remove them by deleting the shortcut from the following location:
\windows\start menu\programs
If you do this, they will not only be removed from HTC's program launcher within TouchFlo, but also from the standard 'Programs' list in the start menu. If you delete them and need them back, you will have to find the executable for the required program and create another shortcut for it so you can place it back in the list.
Thanks, I knew it was simple and if I just looked around in my File Explorer I could of figured that out.
Thanks again!
When i go to start > programs i see all the programs is a big mess. How do i arrange these in folders so it looks good. And then i want to make a shortcut to the folders so i can make a shortcut to them in my today plugin. Anyuone can help?
You need to use the File Explorer (or Total Commander) and navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs - Start Menu may have a different name if you have a localized ROM (non-WWE). There you can create new subfolders and move the links into them.
Dunno about the shortcuts for today plugin though.

I have figured it out. I should just "right click" in resco explorer and choose "place in start menu as shortcut" then put the shortcut in my today plugin
EDIT: That didnt work
