You guys must have been aching for a working SNES emulator for your Universal; you've got it now!
Two days ago I received this updated version of PocketSNES from a generous guy who wishes to remain anonymous. It is based on the SNES9x ver. 1.39.
I ran Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island on the emulator. Both ROMs ran smoothly without sound on, and I mapped the controller buttons with the keyboard. So now my Universal is a bit like the Nintendo DS, except it only has one screen and only runs smoothly without sound on.
Have a go anyway - simply unzip the downloaded file, copy both the .exe file and .dll file to a folder on your device and then run it.
Unfortunately this program has been optimised for use on the HTC Universal only, so I'm afraid that owners of other WM5 devices may not be able to use this.
BTW the boring stuff: you should know that you can only download the ROMs provided that you have bought a copy of the game. You will have to search for the download sites yourself I'm afraid!
Tried but it couldn't run.
It raised the error: "The file cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found...."
Will give it a shot. Thanks for sharing!

That could be to do with your ROM. Which version is it? You might have to app-unlock your ROM in that case.
I get the same error, tried running from phone memory, and storage card. I am running Mr Clean Rom
Thanks
same error. Certificate problem. Have latest jasjar ROM from Imate.
PLs solve it, you made me curious and I still have hundreds of SNES files, wating to be played with.
Huib
Got the same error
Have a XDA Exec with latest rom.
Dear all,
Sorry about that: my bad. I forgot to include an essential .dll file.
Download the new zipped file, extract it and copy both file to a folder on your device and it should work.
Yep it's working now.
Tried donkey kong country and mario allstars, both working excellent with sound on. You just need to get used with the controls (buttons).
Thanks man.

May I ask what sound setting are you on? Is the game running at a good frame rate?
At the moment i'm running arkanoid at a frame rate of 30. The other games i tried are between 25-35 fps.
Activated sound options are:
V Sound Emulation
V Sync Sound
V Stereo
V Interpolate Source
V Alt Sound Decoder
V Envelope Height Rea....der
V Fix Frequency
Quality is 16 bit.
Rate is medium.
wow works great. 25fps. I would like my dos-emulator to do that.
The only thing is that the keys aren't working like on a joypad or my computer. Let me explain.
on my qtek 9000 you press the right-arrow key an hold it for walking right. If you meanwhile click another button the system forgets that you've holding the right-arrow key. Threrfore its almost impossible to play jump'n'run games.
Does anyone have a solution for this kind of problem?

I'm having that problem too. Disabling the sound helps a bit but I don't know if there is a solution for this. I'll ask the guy who wrote this program.
The Keyborad driver for qtek9000/Universal doesn't allow multiple key press.
You can use other hard keys though including camera, voice, backligh, Video, Contacts etc
is there a way to replace these drivers? does alternative drivers exist? does anybody knows a solution?
This cant't be the end I've tried "super street fighter 2" it works fluently and flawlessly except the fact that you can't jump forward or backward, not talking about the special moves, just because of the keyboard!
It is possible to write an alternate driver for the keyboard. I'm not voluntering though (not at the moment at least)
Thank mate! This is awesome.

I tried to play Worms for mobile but i only have one button working, the pad is not responsive... so i can't play
Is there a solution ?
I just wanted to ask the same question...
Can't map any buttons, except the camera.
Are there any ideas?
Here is a start: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296263&highlight=worms
Now we have to find how to set FIRE to the Center Pad button
Hex editor friends, you are welcome here
yeah, i want to play worms too.. plz someone do us the favor
I tried the metod from Valentin.H's link.
I got the following keycodes:
0xd (13)) center pad
0x72(114) green
0x73(115) red
0x75(117) slider up
0x76(118) slider down
0xC2(194) camera
As you see, the center pad gives some weird code. Don't know why.
I hex'ed the codes into my WWPSave.dat.
But resuts are not exactly satifying.
Green and red buttons are not working.
But at least I managed to remap camera button to shoot, instead of jumping
I guess we just have to wait for a fix, playing at increased difficulty with no jumps.

Play Worms!
The phonebuttons and the Centre-D Button don't work in the game
I use the slider buttons for Jump & Backflip and the camera button for Fire.
This works ok for me.
I've edited the dat file to make the slider buttons work in the game.
Just copy the attached WWPSave.dat to you Worms installation folder, overwriting the existing one and you're ready to rumble.
Cheers!

You´re welcome and you´re right, Worms is a great game, but a network multiplayer mode would be nice.
Being overwelmed by the sleek look of the touch, I never realized that we´d run into problems with key assigment for games e.g. Worms.
I tried several programs to create virtual buttons and even reassigned de phone buttons and the slider button, with no success.
Luckily someone else (sorry forgot the name) on this forum informed us of an existing workaround to assign buttons in Worms by using a Hex editor on the savegame file.
Altough the instructions were not totally correct and our phone does have less assignable buttons, I managed to assign the slider button for Jump and Back-Flip.
Enjoy the game.

I want the game but cannot get a working version for wm6
anyone please email me with a 'solution' of the game please

Thank you very much
Yes multiplayer would be perfection !
By the way, if you don't know the game Cavemen, you really should try it, it's a Lemmings-like but better ! You can glide or jump and also the touch screen is matter. Pretty addictive game like Worms with thousands of levels
wow, you guys had to go thru all of that just for 1 game..
imagine what the iphone will be like? when people try to port games and get frustrated with it lol

i cant open the option to edit the keys to use the slider using boogiemans saved file. it closes the game when i try to do this.
That's weird, i can, but it's not a problem at all because you don't need to open that menu, it's useless on the Touch, Boogieman's file is all that matters
i replaced the file but it still cant work. =(
i was wondering if anyone had any luck with any gameboy advance emulators running,on a 8525, in landscape mode with the keyboard as a controller. it works great in morphgear but as far as i know you have to pay for the full unlocked version. i tried pocketGBA but it keeps freezing my phone-am i doing something wrong or do i need to try a different emulator. any and all input will help. Thanks
There are two versions available, have you tried both?

Hi guys
I come right to the point: has anybody found any good working snes emulators for the xperia? It is the perfect device to play on considering that u can put it in landscape mode and just use the keyboard. Unfortunately, none of the emus I ve tried seem to work - especially not in landscape mode.
is there something I have missed or is there none? are there any other good emulators for consoles u can recommend?
thx

I believe that in order to get the ROMs able to load, you need to have the PocketSNES.exe file in the same dir as the ROMs. It sucks for organized people, but this is the only way that I could get it to find the ROMs.
Performance still isn't the greatest, but if more ppl start to get WinMo devices, maybe we'll see a rewrite of these emulators since they're all from 2002-2003.
Hope that ROM loading info helps anyways!
pocketsnes 1.53 loads and looks well
BUT, same problem...
when I click Load ROM...
nothing happens.... I have the smc files in the same folder as the program and i've tried to do it with and without folders both in my documents and programs

Okay then, you start morphgear with the keyboard pulled out. Then you go to the Global Settings and set the Driver to "GDI" and uncheck "Disable Full Screen". Screen orientation should be North.
After that you go to the SNES settings and set the Screen Size to "Auto scale".
That works for me.

No prob,
you just have to open the SNES options and check the box "enable sound". I just tried syndicate, terranigma and mario kart and the sound works good -I wouldn't say "perfect" because it sometimes seem to be a bit slow, but with 22kHz it's okay to play in this state.
hi, can someone give me a link or send me pocketsnes as i dont really want to sign up to the forum just to download it
Holy shi- , performance with morphgear is BAAAD! Totally the opposite of my expectations.
My S.E. M600 has a 208mhz ARM9 based chipset and it plays Sega Genesis games with high quality sound without any lag at all. GBA games on the M600 was worse compared to genesis, but still beter then this POS gaming experience.
Totally not worth the time it took to download the software and bluetoothing a 16mb ROM over from the m600 to the x1.

M600? Correct me if im wrong but isnt this an X1 forum? Morphgear works 100% speed on my x1 without sound but I agree still a tiny bit laggy on the controls and room for small improvement.
"not worth the time it took to download the software" - mine is about 2meg, you mean that oh so painful 5 seconds??
"Bluetoothing a 16mb ROM" - right you might wanna check that one mate. I have 1578 SNES ROMS and the largest one is 5mb. that might be a source of your troubles
"POS Gaming experience" - I would attribute this to your totally rad & cool "208mhz ARM9 based chipset" (that being your phone is the POS not the software).
Try talking to some people in the M600 forum about this instead of just showing up on the X1 pages and throwing vicious words around where they're not wanted.
Oh thats right, there isnt one...

Hi All,
Really interested in getting this snes emulation working ok my X1, going to be a silly question but where do you guys get the games? On the website I go to for the emulator it says "coming soon" under the games tab
Are they available freeware ? can someone point me to somewhere where i can get them freeware or purchase them?
Cheers,

No need for flame, we're in the same boat anyway . I have my Xperia X1 for about 3 weeks now and i mentioned the S.E. M600i just for comparison (overall the M600 is no match for my new X1). But what i mean is, that vBax and PicoDrive for UIQ3 on a phone with a ARM9 208mhz chipset outperforms MorphGear for WM on a phone with a ARM11 528mhz chipset.
Silly isnt it?
Oh, and i dont see myself mentioning the 16MB ROM being a SNES game , do you?
Tried and tested.
EDIT: ARGH i just realised that i messed up somewhere in my upload, after menu it reverts to VGA with blackened places where it doesnt cover WVGA. still playable tho. gimme a while to solve it, i must have mixed some thing up some where
EDIT 2: fixed
I got several mails requesting for the WVGA version of Warcraft 2 as seen at http://heretical-rantings.blogspot.com/2008/04/free-games.html. Its simple really, all you need to do is edit the preference files and you got yourself WVGA.
I believe there are a few WVGA versions on XDA, and i tried them, and i've no idea what he did but damn that was laggy and choppy. rest assured this isnt the same file, and its smooth and perfectly playable. (take note WQVGA is probably possible as well, just download the QVGA version from my other link, and download these preference files, and edit the two preference files inside with notepad, pay attention to the resolution)
Download the WVGA version (fixed tilesets and everything, shud be perfectly fine now)
http://heretical-rantings.blogspot.com/2009/11/warcraft-2-wvga-version-totally-smooth.html
(u get better performance if u switch off the sounds)
pfffft solved the problem. i accidentally left out the tiles for 480X800. Will update within 24 hours with the files, gotta sleep now.
its done. please leave a comment if u have any problems or if it works fine for u.

glad to know, both instant action and campaign works fine right?
I downloaded it from my computer and then extracted it onto my TP2 since it was not seeing it as a .rar file when I downloaded it directly from my TP2. I just ran it on Single player and works great Thanks for uploading War2.
I was just wondering if there was a certain method you guy's used to do the "Right click" where it directs the peon? For me to move them around I use the attack button haha. Also there's no way for us to build walls huh? I trapped a few peons while building stuff haha. Was just wondering, anyhow thanks again!
Played it.
Pretty fun. Runs smoothly. Crashed after I beat the first level, but that might just be due to memory usage.
It doesn't support hardware keyboard and lelt orientation (turns right landscape)!?
When clicking near the place of virtaul keyboard (hided by game), the HTC virtual keyborad binks with the game window...
I use the game on the WM6.5 FR HTC stock rom
what are the campaign and gzes rar files for?
Awesome!!!!
this is very cool!! it runs great on the Tmo Usa Tp2.
Hmm.. I was excited to see this and downloaded right away. It starts up fine but when I try to click on "Human campaign" it crashes. Any ideas?
does not support hardware keyboard. to save just overwrite one of the save files provided. save often and save twice in two different slots cuz sometimes it gets corrupted
@Jrun, no choice but to use the move and attack function. to avoid trapping units place your buildings carefully. this can be done by clicking on the building u wanna build, but duntap straight away on the screen. instead, drag your stylus and u'll see the outline to place your building.
@ed_bracam, no problems on my side with virtual keyboard. if u're starting the game from somewhere, where there was virtual keyboard, like in sms windows and u use some shortcut to start game, may happen.
to swicth left/right orientation, go to options and select "full screen". it'll switch orientation.
@perkins, i'm sorry but i and the others have no problems so it sounds like its your rom. check ram, and pagepool and redownload maybe your download is corrupted.
@hani, dun wrry bout them

Any chance of a manual?
The best should be support of the keyboard because it's not easy to play with the stilus only (you cannot win in hard mission because you develop too slow). If I remember, WC2 has a lot of keyboard shortcuts to play fast.
On 24th Dec 2009 Schtruck from fpsece.net released his new version of FPSEce. On the website www.fpsece.net you can download FPSE v0.10 for free or get a version for a small donation of €5,- with the ability to save whereever you are whenever you like
It bringt speed-improvement, a new core, new GUI and supports a lot of more games now.
Even a new website is launched.
It's not like v0.96 which quits on my Xperiy 28of30 times I tried to run it... and it makes games more playable, really! (but I only testes with Final Fantasy VII right now - that's what I wanted the emu for .
Hope you enjoy it and if you like it, buy the supporter-version to support the future developement of this software.
I guess it's a really good Idea to give supporters that special-feature but keep the normal version for free! So you can use the software as long as you like.
Wow cool, I'll have to give this a shot!

Hi to all!
I have a problem. When I set MultiFix=1 it is finally possible to bind more buttons on my I740, but it becomes impossible to use on-screen buttons and arrows.
Does anybody know how can I use both of them???
PS: sorry for my English
I start FPSE with keyboard-slided-out in portrait-mode (I use Wisbar to manually rotate screen if I need...). But you don't need this.
If you slide out keyboard, you can press the upper left corner (near the FPS-counter !!! ) to go back to portrait-mode.
Then just configute your keys and when I want to go back to landscape-view I close and open Keyboard again. When I use the screen-rotate-button FPSE leafes and I have to restart my device.
If images don't work using PocketISO try with uncompressed ISO.
I.E. Final Fantasy VIII works on my device without compression and when I use PocketISO it doesn't. But could be a setting in PocketISO - haven't figured out this right now.
If you find bugs please report them to the FPSE-forum!

Thanks for the info, On the list it says Dino Crisis 2 works good, I'm going to try it without the Pocket ISO if that dosent work ill try the to re download the game again. If you have spare time could you test it out and report back.
sorry...PS1 games are that cheap that I only rip my own games for playing (I bought Final Fantasy VII-XII for my PS2, which has no chip inside)...I don't download games which I can buy original for less than €20,- .
But perhaps it's your ripping-tool...a wrong setting?
I have trouble getting FF VIII and IX work - tried to rip them twice, I'm currently waiting in FPSE-board for a solution... I'm sure I get the problems by ripping my CDs.
When FPSEce website is lannched completly there should be a compatibility-list which perhaps has additional information for ripping your games and there'll be a wiki. I'm sure it'll get users closer to solve their problems
holy crap i cant believe this day has finally come. i have been following this project for atleast a year.
Hmm. I downloaded it the other day and right now I'm playing Diablo 1 on it. Works very good, better than I expected it.
First my games did not load and my phone rebooted everytime I tried to play. But now I installed in ON THE DEVICE, running games from my memory card. Works flawlessly.
I have to use frameskipping for Diablo 1 though. I consider supporting the developers because it's great software!
gonna try the non delay ff7 fighting scenes thanks for the info!
I have a few bugs to report. on my symbol mc35 it crashes at startup with around 30MB free ram.
on my touch pro it works fine in portrait mode but if i open the keyboard i cant reconfigure the buttons.
@key-config
slip out keyboard, FPSE changes to landscape-mode. now press near/on the FPS-counter. FPSE turns back to portrait-mode. configure your buttons and than ! don't use the orientation-buttons (this may crash FPSE - at least on xperia!) slip keyboard in and out again to switch to portrait-mode again.
that's an already known bug... you guys should read fpse-board here it is: http://www.fpsece.net/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=265&p=4807&sid=533071d203f08d489360950cef119a84#p4807 (there's also another problem with omnia...but one guy postet it's solution^^)
This emulator drains battery very fast!!
I was playing FF9 without wall charger.. After 40 minutes i think, the battery ran out! Not able to save without saving point how good if i have save state feature...

I finally got Dino Crisis 2 to work, I found a website that actually has the roms already with the image. I can't belive how smooth this plays to. If you ever get a chance to buy/download Dino Crisis 2 I recommend it, It's Like Resident Evil meets Jurassic Park lol
