Playing .wav files on Wizard WM5 - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi,
Basic question. I have .wav files emailed to me from my home voice mail, but Windows Media does not support this format. Is there a program I can use to play them?
Thanks!

WMP doesnt support .wav??

I've found the same - I think some WAV's play but it depends on the codec used. You should find that TCPMP will play your WAV's though.
See http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about

Thank you!

Thanks for the help, that did the trick!

Ring Tone & Video Problems

Hi,
I can't play MP3's as ringing tone. Also can't play MPEG & AVI within Windows Media Player. Could someone please help. I have only recently purchased my XDA, so any pointers would be muchly appreciated.
I have updated to the new rom version 172181 and still have this problem.
Could someone please advise.
Many thanks.
Steve.
Windows Media Player doesn't support AVI and Mpeg formats on Pocket Pc devices.
To play mpeg formats you need PocketTv or others programs.
To play AVI files you need a BetaPlayer or Simply install Album Program from XDA2.
Also,You can't play Mp3's as ringtone because you need to convert first them to Wav files or Midi..To convert use any Wav-Mp3 Converter on i-net.
Good Luck!
Im currently looking into and seriously considering writing a program that allows more formats of music/sound to be used as ringtones, i quite like the sound of MMF and MOD files and i think they wud sound cool as ringtones. I hear that windows mobile uses VOIP to handle incoming calls so im hoping that the API is accessible and i will be able to write a program which "monitors" phone activity and will intercept incoming calls etc. If anyone has any knowledge on this that they are willing to share please do so
Marc
yeah that would be usefull of cause most people just use converter programs on the pc to make all those formats into wma and use them that way
because it would require some programming to play the good old mod formats because you need the sample file aswell to play the patteren of the mods
True, there are some pocket pc MOD Dlls though that i could perhaps make use of, they may not be freeware but a lot of applications distribute fmodce.dll so i could just make use of that if it were present on the users device. Id also like to see the midi mapper on the xda changed as well coz in my opinion its pretty crap!

Download the Lemmings Clone from Jacko Biker.
It contains full source code - that does also include a MOD Player LIB.
( eVC 3 and 4 compatible )
That is a good starting point to improve this LIB ( However, it works already very good and stable )
Cheers,
Scorpion
ok, ill take a look at it sometime today. is there any requests for what people would want in my app so i can put it into the design?

If you try are looking for lemmings you'll find it has vanished from nearly everywhere, apparently thanks to SONY contacting the site owners to have it removed.

Anyway, I found a chinese site which still has it. If that happens to vanish, I've got a copy if anyone needs it. (FYI It's not brilliant - seems to have no volume control and exiting requires a soft boot).

Any way to play .m4a audio on the Jam?

On the Jam's specifications it mentions AAC as a suported (albeit optional) format. I can't seem to make it play my .m4a files (unprotected aac).
Any tips?

aac files on PPC
This is the software you want: http://iplay.40th.com/
it doesn't look very slick, but does a great job and has a lot of features.
Try this...it is Platform4 Media Player 3.0 and a patch so you can play your unprotected files iTunes AAC files.

Oops forgot the main file...
for some reason it will not allow me to attach the file to the message. It has been uploaded to the root directory of the ftp site as main_mp4.zip
enjoy
use betaplayer.. the newest version adds support for AMR files as well..
Built in AAC player in imate Jam
I called a few dealers of the iMate and asked them how to play AAC files on the iMate Jam as they say they can do in the specification. No one could help me.
After playing around...this is what you do....just change the file extension to "3gp". Now I can play the files in 'Album'. It you put them in a folder system within 'My Music' then you have created a playlist for the presentation mode of Album.
At least this saves me having to convert all of my iTunes files!

Need help !

Hi,
I was thinking that I understood well my QTEK S100 and I was happy but .......
Now ...... This very strange litle thing happen and I really don't know how nor why .....
My S100 doesn't play anymore the mp3 files as ringtones. The one I always use is still there in the right folder but doesn't work, just no sound. All the wav files and mid files works but none of my mp3.
I still can play my mp3s from my mp3 player but not anymore as ringtone.
An idea ? Help please, it's very frustrating
I don't understand and I have done nothing
You have installed a music player or any other software that makes itself the default player for MP3 files.
You need to uninstall that program or use a 3rd party program (this is one of them http://tillanosoft.com/ce/ptweak.html) to restore the mp3 file association back to WMP10.
MP3 ringtones will only work if WMP10 is the default player!
cool, thanks for the link, i have a problem with playing video's i record with my phone, .avi's are unknown on it so i guess if i associate them with wmp that that'd fix my issue.
thanks
Thanks
Many thanks, it works very well !

I'm not sure if wmp can play AVI. I use TCPMP (ex Beta Player) for DivX and AVI. It's a free program as well. Here's the link to download: http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1080

TCPMP Doesn't Recognize WMA Files?

I have played WMA files on my MDA and I thought on my Wing. However, yesterday, I could not play any WMA files on my wing. I continually get an error code that it is not recognizable file. 'Player: Audio codec (Windows Media Auido) not suported by the player.)
I have checked all file associations and it still will not play. I have tried TCPMP 72RC1 and 81RC1. Is there a better player out there? I don't really like Windows Media Player 10 Mobile for Pocket PC 10.3. Any suggestions or fixes? Thanks in advance.
That is probably a question for the developers

Is there suitable free wav player?

I have several phone companies emailing my voicemail as attachhed .wav files. WMP wont play them. I am aware from reading that wav is just a container and that the underlying audio format could be one of several. I suspect the telcos might use a similar sytstem for voicemail wavs?
If I have to, I will fork out for Coreplayer or some such. But I do not need all the bells and whistles. Is there a free wav player or preferably an addon for WMP10 that will make in play them?
Thnx
look for the free build of TCPMP what works on WM6.1. it's on here somewhere

I have looked and only found tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72rc1.cab which installs but will not tun on my Diamond. Could someone PLS point me to version that will run if there is one. Thnx.
Managed to find the version that works on my Diamond. It is here at TCPMP new VS2008 builds for WM6.1 with FLV built in in case anybody else is after it.
After installing I used Schaps' "Advanced Config" > menu>more settings>File associations to set wav files to open with \TCMP\player.exe and all is dandy now.
does this version support playback for wma files??
