Problem with my XDA II (Hard Reset Involved)

Has anybody experienced not being able to turn on their XDA II's anymore?
I already experienced it twice and the first time, it ran out of battery and I don't think the backup battery was drained yet. It still had backup battery and when I tried turning it back on, it won't. I plugged it but it still won't. Tried soft reset and it still won't. The last option was hard reset and that was the only time it turned on.
The second time was just yesterday where I'm 100% sure that the main battery was still full. I wasn't doing anything with it when I noticed that the green light wasn't blinking anymore. I tried turning it on and the same thing happened, NOTHING. So I needed to hard reset again and that was the only time it went on again.
Does anybody know the reason why it happened?

I have done the hard reset i think more than 4 times,every second day i have to hard reset it due to this problem!!

as a good practice to see whether it's s/w or h/w problem ... hard reset the device and try spending 4-5 days without any s/w except the pure OS ... then try to install the applications one at a time.
one advice would be to upgrade to ROM 1.72

I have experienced this too, 3 times. During the third time, I remember the last app. used was the MS reader reading a dictionary file from the SD card, and the phone was turn off without quitting the app. After hard resetting, tried few more times with the app. and read the same file, and turn off the device with the app. running. It seems that the MS reader really causing the hang.
Could the MS reader the culprit?

Hi Guys,
Finally i think i have found the solution for this one....i installed the newer upgraded version of firmware...i.e. from 1.66 to 1.72 and since then i did not hard reset my phone and wish it remains the same...its been more than 5 days now...previously i had to hard reset it every second day!!!
I have my fingers crossed and hope it remains this way..!!!

Did you install same apps? I have a feeling that it only happens with
1.66WWE ROM. Are the people who experience constant hard resets have ROM 1.66WWE?

I have installed lots of softwares on my xda2 after i upgraded to 1.72 and its working fine......as far as i am concerned upgrading my xda2 was a good decission...!!

ROM/Radio upgrade problems.

I've attempted upping the Radio ROM on my O2 XDA Exec to 1.06.00 following the instructions here. Everything went wrong at first - I got the USB v1.00 screen, but I followed the instructions and the Radio update went OK.
Unfortunatly, after soft resetting and going into the control panel, clicking the Phone applet just hangs my Exec. The phone works, but I can't change the settings through either the control panel or from the phone > menu > options.
So I hard reset and let O2 do its thing, choosing corporate when presented. Still does it. Of doesn't rather. So I tried downgrading the Radio back down to 1.04.02 but the same thing occurs. Then I grab the latest 50Mb+ ROM update from O2. Tried it just now after 30 minutes - still, the phone applet won't work.
Any tips?

Fixed. I left it switched off for 20 minutes and once I switched it on, there it was, albeit with all fields blank. Tried a few things and managed to get it working smoothly again.

BTW, the 1.08 ROM update is already posted

Problems remain.
I can't get into the 2nd tab under the Notifications settings. It hangs as before. :?

Try upgrade to 1.08

The radio seems fine, but I've now discovered that Windows Media Player won't work.
Should I try reflashing everything again with the updated ROM from O2's site?

maybe re-do everything. Flash using a shipping ROM then upgrade radio from there

I'm beginning to think that maybe the memory isn't completly wiped and remnants are interfering with the operation of the new software.

Wizard is Spontaneously Soft-Resetting - help/advice please?

My question/concern is as follows:
As of recently, my beautiful wizard has been spontaneously soft-resetting. When this problem starts, it will reset itself a couple of times before it finally boots up, and when it does boot up, i have problems making and recieveing calls, not to mention the slower than usual perfomance.
I have performed a hard-reset to see if any programs are causing this. So far I am operating with no installed software (other than what it comes with). The problem is still present.
Before my hard-reset I was using pocket breeze, spb plus, pocket weather, resco soduko, etc etc, with no noticable perfomance lag.
I have not messed around with anything except for the A2DP hack so I can use my HT820 headset. This worked for a while until an unexpected soft-reset, and I had to re-install the CAB and re-pair my headset.
I HAVE NOT installed the A2DP hack on my wizard since the last hard-reset.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I have been reading extensively about upgrading my rom and radio versions, but I want to see if there is any other solution as I am not yet 100% sure how to perform the upgrades.

I am more concerned now about the radio, because I dont seem to be able to make or recieve calls on the first or second try.
do you think that if the rom and/or radio rom were updated, i could fix this problem?

When I first got my K-Jam, I loaded it up with every app I used on my old PocketPC.
Mine rebooted constantly to (seemed like once an hour sometimes).
I did a hard reset and didn't load anything on there.
No rebooting.
Installed my first app.
No rebooting
Installed my next app
no rebooting
After I got all my apps loaded (which I did over a few days), I still had no probs.
Now comes the today plugins.
Installed my first one
no rebooting
Installed the second one
rebooting
Moral to the story, do a hard reset (or upgrade to the newest ROM if you've been holding off) and run like that for a few days, if it doesn't reboot on you, it's an app or a plugin.

Huge problem

ok so my phone crashed(again....) and i had to hardreset it ...now thats done..i wanted to try flashing stuff/getting a rom so i tried to download dinik rom and when i tried to connect my phone to usb/pc.it wouldnt connect! and it says phone not found...while it IS in the usb and i clicked on activysync on the phone...nothing different from a hour ago when i didnt hardreset it yet WTF is going on? i tried softresetting the phone even hardresetted it twice now..rebooted my pc ...nothing
after a while it gives an error from async saying no profiles are created..wth is this for crap?!
and also, can any1 just link me to a rom/radio whatever you think is good for a noob...its 6:45 am in the morning and im just not in the fcking mood anymore..hd2 has crashed around 10-20times in the past week since i got it and im soo close to setting it on FIRE

update : i managed to get the async to work for now...but now i have the following problem : i get update error or connection error when i try to put a new rom on(diniks rom) WHAT is wrong?? after around 3mins of the rom update being on 0% it says update error etc and you know the deal..asks to click skip or next etc...no error on my phone just have to soft reset with battery but still cant update
looks like wm hates me or something...

is your phone a locked or unlocked version?

yay i managed to get the hpsl2 on there and flash a radio, now it says radio version :

i sent my phone back to htc...****ing phone crashed and restarted every time i got to the ''htc green screen'' logo...and even when i tried to do a hard reset with vol up and down+power button it restarted

HD2 crashes
A couple of quick notes...
First you must remember your HD2 is a computer, programs that you install, from unknown sources could possible corrupt the operating system. I have found that when downloading apps, I come here. XDA has been really helpful in solving many of my hardware issues. Following download process is a must. If you get an app from somewhere else, come here first to see if their are any issues. I have had to hard reset on a few occasions, but that was because I was not paying attention. Its a hard lesson to learn, especially when you have installed your apps on your device and not your storage card (just remember to take your card out before doing hard reset and backup your contacts and apps). You can backup all your contacts to microsoftmypone. Then activate your account on your phone. I know its frustrating. What programs have you installed recently?

Hard reset

Can anyone tell me if this will wipe any updates etc that have been done to the phone by the phone company?
my phone forgot the lock code so i had to do a hard reset, since then the phone has been freezing quite often, mainly when sending/recieving texts if you change the orientation while typing.
at the moment its either wait 2 minutes for it to sort itself out or just restart sense which is now becoming annoying.
any help appreciated

it also wont play the h.264 recordings i have made on the phone, i just get a black screen that says loading :/

well i have figured out it is definately related to the orientaion of the phone, i cannot turn the phone on its side when sending texts or using the web browsers or it will just lock up or slow to a crawl.
p.s. somone just please reply so i know i aint getting ignored cos my posts seem to be lol

Hmmmm...
Is the issue only occuring since you performed the hard reset and not before?
Have you tried reinstalling any updates you had before the reset?
Do you have a lot of msg's in your inbox?

updates are usually stored in root of phone
have you installed any new cabs or roms ??
if you've not installed anything new another hard reset may be in order just to re-syncronize phone

Yeah it will. it is like doing a windows system restore using the restore discs that came with your pc. Personally i would look at updating to a newer rom if you haven't already got a 1.66 or 1.72 based stock rom. You could always look at a custom rom. I use energy 23569 and i haven't had any problems with it. Also the energy roms include a newer version of sense that is included with the new TMOUS roms and it appears to be less buggy

it was fine before the reset but it did slow a little in landscape mode but nothing anywhere near what its like now, key presses had a slight delay and now they are like a 5 second delay....portrait mode is perfect.
i always delete messages so my inbox is empty, i never applied any updates prior to the reset, i assumed virgin did it all for me.
i have only installed a few tweaks but the main change is bsb tweaks, i'm now using the latest version where as i was using the prior version before the hard reset but this has only started happening about a week after i installed it.

i want to use a custom rom or atleast update to newer one but how will i put it back to the stock rom? the phone has some locked items from virgin installed, they will know if those are not there.

No they won't. Just say you removed them by hand because they were of no purpose to you.
If you install a custom rom on your unbranded, unlocked (the phone virgin supplied you is exactly the same as what you would pay for standalone except for the software extras) Leo it will be easy to install a stock rom. just flash it and then remove HSPL3 in favour of the stock spl (1.42 i think).
Your manilla/sense version is actually very old. There are newer versions about (2015 and 2016) that have been developed for the TMOUS devices but as HTC neglect the UK we haven;t been given the officially yet but most of the new custom roms include them.
If you do stay stock try installing LeoCPUSpeed V4 and chainfire's 3D Driver Patch V2. They will improve the speed of the phone in general and you may find the typing lag goes away completely
