I find that I am most proficient at using the device from landscape keyboard mode. Is there a way to have the device turn on when I open the keyboard, and turn off when I close it?

Yeah I wish there was a way. So far no solution.
Any ideas on this one yet?

Does anyone know how to enable the keyboard backlight so that it comes on when the keyboard is slid open and stays on as long as it is open?
I've tried disabling/enabling the daylight sensor but no matter what I do the keyboard light doesn't come on until I press a key.
I'm intersted too!
I think that it is linked to the general backlight settings ie if you set your screen backlight not to go off after a certain time, then neither will your keyboard.
Also, I think that there is a way to alter the timeout for the keyboard by altering the registry keyboard timeout.
However, I don't know how to do this myself, I expect someone on this board will know. I'm pretty sure that someone described this in the Wizard or Universal part of these forums, that might give you a clue.
Good luck

Yep, I have mine on all the time - just 'cos I like that pretty blue glow!!
My settings are:
Start>Settings>Buttons Icon>Backlight Tab
Uncheck Backlight sensor
PLUS
Start>Settings>System>Backlight
Here on the Battery Power and External Power Tabs I have both Unchecked.
Under Start>Settings>System>Power
I still have turn of power after 5 minutes if device not used.

Is there anyway that the power & backlight will automatically turn on when I slide the keyboard open?
I came on here looking for a solution to the same thing. I haven't been able to find anything as of yet.

Mine does not have that check box. The only thing I see is:
"Turn off backlight if devise is not used for [pull-down box]"
i hit the landscape button and it turns the wrong way. when i slide the keyboard open it turns the way it should. I want to keep the phone in landscape mode. is HTC home the issue? got any ideas?
i went to start-setting-menus and change the orientation..but it wont stay. when i open and close the keyboard it goes back to normal view..not landscpe.
has anyone seen a solution that:
when you close the keyboard then the screen turns itself off automatically?
thanks all
I am wondering if it is possible to configure my windows mobile to wake up from sleep mode using the touch screen.
After the phone went to sleep, by pressing the power button for example, I cannot just touch the device to wake it up. I don't think pocket dial is such a big deal, I could use a lock screen to prevent that.
Only solution I found is to configure windows not to turn the device off. But I think the battery will drain faster if the device can't go to sleep mode.
Any thoughts?
No, that's not possible - you need the hardware-keys.
You also can use the proximity-sensor, but then in unattended mode. That would drain battery.
So it is impossible? There is no hack or program I can use to wake the device up using touchscreen?

What's your device ? My Blackstone wakes up if i remove stylus, it's not what you wanted, but i assume you don't want to use the power button, that's why you asked about alternate methods to wake up the device.
My device is the hermes tnty. I cannot wake the device up if I remove the stylus.
You can try installing S2U2 application which has the option of waking up and unlocking phone when stylus is pulled out. It is a nice freeware lockscreen application, i use it on my phone. Try it and see if that helps with your problem
I Tried S2U2, does not work. I still have to press the power button, or any other button if I change lock options.
