Orange Push Email?? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Can anyone explain whether Orange offer to 'Private' NOT 'Business' customers their Push Email.
I believe they use the Office Freedom which is SEVEN Always on Mail.
Unfortunately SEVEN Always on Mail does'nt yet work with Mobile 5.
I can't run Exchange as I only have Windows XP Home...............unless of course anyone can give anyother clues on what I could do.
I know SEVEN Always on Mail works great on my old M2000, so this solution would be good if it worked on Mobile 5
Cheers
Shaun

mail2web offer a free exchange hosted email account, that is Exchange 2003 sp2 (ie WM5 push compatible)..
I think this is the link http://services.mail2web.com/FreeServices/m2wLive/
Personally, I pay for 4smartphone.com exchange hosted service...

I want Push Email on my XDA Mini S...how do I do it?

Hi all,
I need some advice and help. I have read a hell of a lot of stuff on the pending Messaging and Security Features Pack (MSFP) but no one can offer me a confident answer on whether or not it will work, how it will work, how much it costs etc.
I have a small business but we run a Microsoft Exchange 2003 server. I will install SP2 on it in due course but only once I know I can get emails pushed to my device. Microsoft have not been helpful, either I pay them £199 + VAT for some real advice or just go to the weblinks read out by the operative once he has spoken to an adviser. I had already seen all the weblinks!!!
What I would like to know from someone with proper knowledge is when is this MSFP thing out? (I hear Q1 2006 from iMate but how about on O2 etc.?) How many email accounts will I be able to use with it etc.? Will it only synchronize with email accounts on my Exchange server? Or will it synchronize with email accounts on my ISP's exchange server too? Any idea on running costs, I am assuming linked to GPRS usage etc. I am asking for a lot of answers but frankly am confused been around the houses so many times, not sure what I actually want to know.
Any help is gratefully received.
MSFP is not out yet. It is up to the providers like O2 to make it available in their ROMs early next year. Currently the service providers have not communicated when this will be made available.
My understanding is it will only sync accounts on your Exchange server, not from your ISP.
IT WORKS
Hi folks. I have Qtek 9100 and it seems it already have that feature pack installed. I am synchronizing my qtek with exchange server. Currently I have only scheduled synchronizing with exchange but I will as well try to use push technology but right now I don't have enough time to do this. And of course push technology must be supported by mobile network (operator). I suppose try to install test server and test it through network or wifi. It's a little bit complicated to make it work but now it works for me. That's cool technology.

AKU2 POLL-will u be using corporate or personal or not?

I understand the principle behind a corporate exchange connection.
But does anyone know any service providers or 3rd party companies that will be offering a personal service (aka. blackberry personal email).
maybe i'm wrong but i think A2DP was the bluetooth headset profile and the push mail feature is called AKU2.
btw: Happy using MDA Vario with free hosted exchange @ live.mail2web.com
right you are, stupid me !
have changed subject but can't change poll, hopefully people will work this out!
Currently running a XDA2i but hoping to upgrade to the Exec in the near future.
I say I'll be running personal AKU2 but I do have my own Exchange server rather than a 3rd party server.
I've found the info on this site amazing and will post as much info as possible once I bite the bullet and upgrade and have chance to run a full Exchange SP2/WM5 setup.
Push Email
Hi All,
I use personal push email & have a personal exchange account set up with 4smartphone.com where I forward all my gmail & virgin.net emails.
Works great for me!
Regards,
Knight
thanks kinght
I presume your m5000 has the latest rom with AKU2.
Some questions:
1. Do you use xpress, proff or enterprise ?
2. Is there a minimum term
3. Outlook 2003 desktop support is only included with proff or enterprise. Does this mean diary syncronisation ?
4. How do you know an email has arrived, does one of the lights on the m5000 flash ?
thx
Using it Daily with the Exchange at Work, And I nmyself at home run exchange, but that is Alais not possible, limitation of synchronising with only one Exchange Server,
I am extremely happy, and when I want quite I turn off the Push mail for a while...
Perfect

From what I've gathered so far, go with one of those two.
or register your own domain and build your own exchange server, works fine

Just like that?
If you would like to have direct push mail from Microsoft on your Universal, it can be done with MS Exchange server SP2
having Echange SP2 on your own (Hosted) server, and building your own certificate on this server (domain) which you later can import on your Universal, you can use Direct Push mail (Https) fron the Universal to your Echange server.
I'm using it,..and the mobile active sync is constantly keeping the GPRS HTTPS connection allive and is syncronising constantly my inbox (agenda, contacts, email and tasks) Not the same as blackberry, but only several seconds delay (depends on gprs network, umts will be faster)
Download the latest rom with the AKU2 feature pack from MS build in, install it on your device and you can use the Direct Push function

Yes yes, I know all this... but you can get exactly the same thing for four pounds a month with 4smartphone.net and they take care of 90% of the hassle for you. Setting up an exchange server is beyond 95% of people with handhelds. And even then, I may be being charitable.
Even downloading a dodgy copy of Exchange via bittorrent is more hassle than getting 4smartphone.net to host it for you.

I would rather look for a personal assistant at the cost of your solution
haha,....sorry. Im a system engineer.
I've been using mail2web with my XDA Exec for the last few days and it works really well. Pretty good for a free service!
Been using 4smartphone.net trial for a few days now... My Exec's mail keeps de-syncing with the Exchange server.
I figured that if I MOVE emails between folders a lot, I start getting ActiveSync problems with error code 0x80070008 and I can't sync anymore. After a soft reset, I can sync again, but the folders on my Exec are now out of sync with folders on the Exchange server. i.e. some mails that were moved are now in Inbox of Exchange, whereas they have been moved to another mail folder on my Exec.
Seems too unreliable for me :|
My take on 4smartphone.net is that its a bit more professional then mail2web. It also ensures that emails sent are stamped with the email address you want to use (i.e. the one fwded/pop3ed to 4smartphone).
mail2web is a little more DIY, however the FAQ is good.
Ultimately I have opted to use mail2web as its only $1.99 a month vs $3.99 a month for 4smartphone (also have to keep up my IGN subscription

I found 4smartphone.net quite reliable.
did you setup manually - ? I did, maybe the autosetup has an issue.
are you syncing over wifi ? this has to be done manually
have 4smartphone.net given any reason why folder moving should case a trouble ?

I haven't actually contacted them yet... I've been googling 0x80070008 and found it to be memory related issues on the device. I'm thinking memory leak leading to lack of memory on my device -> ActiveSync dies.
yeah, could be too many things running as well.
I haven't rebooted for 2 weeks now (since the new O2 update) - famous last words !
what is that aku2 thing and can I use push mail on WM2003se? thnx
no. u can use activesync over a GPRS/3G with wm 2003se. look at mail2web.com FAQs.
however this is not push, its periodic activesync.
push email is where your device gets email as soon as its delivered.
this means that you get the email straight away. the technical difference is that push (in WM5) is server driven and not device driven.
I presume you don't have a universal as they are all WM5.

I have a question: does this mean that you don't pay for the data required to send the e-mail to your device? The one thing that's held me back from diving into push e-mail so far is the worry of going over my data limit (5mb/month on O2 - I can't afford any extra...) and paying too much on my contract.
If MMS messages are free to receive, is it the same for push e-mail messages because the server is initiating the connection? Or do we still have to pay? If you could answer this for me I'd really appreciate it, so thanks in advance
Mach
You'd still have to pay.
thanks for answer colonel. I will look at mail2web.com.

HTML e-mail

hi,
does the roms of windows mobile 6 proposed here can show e-mails coded with HTML ?
I think so...
But this only depends on the Exhange server... you must have SP2 installed and functionnality activated.
mUn_rus one does...
html mails don't work with exchange 2003 sp2 direct push (converted to plaintext). i think it's only supported with exchange 2007 in combination with direct push. through pop3 it's no problem with html mails
If you install windows live and have a hotmail account you would see your hotmail html email in your device in real time.
my 2 cent
Yes, only Exchange 2007 which have to be installed on a 64bit machine. So if you havn't got one, you can use one of the hosted exchange planes you can find on the net. i hav'nt found free plan with exchange 2007 yet, but u can find 2007 plans starting at about 8$ with full access (mobile/web/desktop)

Directpush on your own exchnge server?

Is there a cheap/free Directpush package that can be installed on your own Personal non-business Exchange server?????
I have Windows 2000 server at the moment.
yes, like I have...
U must use Exchange 2003 SP2, otherwise it won't work. this in combination with Windows Mobile 5 or 6 with the Ms Direct Push functionality in it you can configure your PDA to receive instant email on your device..There are white papers abou this which can be found on Microsoft.com...

a.
Dont know whether that is somethink for you "emoze"
http://www.emoze.com/en/download/Default.aspx
Hi there,
take a look at OLXMobileAccess on http://www.gangl.de. Works perfect for me (private) an for my company. Single licence is about 120 Euros. But this solution works better than ExchangePush. Provides you the ability to decide which folders to push an which items (new, changed). Works even for Outlook Notes. And, you can directly access your exchange and change items on the fly !
Best regards,
Jochen
