Best software utilities - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I've been out of touch with PPC utilities until I just got my brand spanking new MDA vario today. My last contact with PPC utils was when I was using the old Dell Axim on WM2003 about 3 years ago. Back then, the fav progs were:
Agenda fusion for PIM
WisBar or ICBar for skinning
Omegaone for battery meter
weather updates I can't remember the name of.
Question is what is the best/favourite utilities now?
I'm interested in PIM, skinning (I've seen some cool today screens on this site), basically bringing myself up to date!
This is a cool site BTW!

SPB Pocket Plus 3.1 vs. WisBar Advance 2
I have searched everywhere on the net and there are such mixed emotions as to which utility is overall better (based on stand alone performance, plug-ins you add, themes etc.)
So I turn to this orgi of experts....
What are all your opinions (be detailed if necessary)???
(Please state which one of the two you are currently using if you are using either.)
I use Spb Pocket Plus 3.1 and tried Wisbar 2.x, the reasons I still run PP 3.1:
- I like tabs on my Today Screen to sort my stuff instead of going through menus, submenus and sub-sub-menus
- It performs better on my Vario than Wisbar
- It has a SafeMode for booting/removing programs that otherwise would have to be deleted by hand.
- I like the meters that come with PP3.1
- I like the interaction with Spb Diary 1.7 ( Messages, Contacts, Notes, Tasks, etc. )
- Its ease of use and simple customizing functions
- I prefer the taskmanager more than the wisbar one
But all in all its a matter of PERSONAL TASTE. Some swear on PocketBreeze/Contact Breeze others Spb PocketPlus & Diary for example.
So best thing is - try it - see how it performs on YOUR machine and then go ahead an purchase which suites you best.
hi
may be you can try WAD with WA2 from lakeridge software to.
regards
i wouldn't directly compare which one is better since they don't exactly do the same things
wisbar is more for skinning and interface while spb is more like utilities and plug-ins
i used to use both together, but i found that wisbar was slowing my device too much, not that it's bad, but i didn't care to skin it anymore
i also prefer pocket plus 3.1
if your using a Wizard device it seems to perform the best and integrates w/the other utilites very well! (i also have spb diary and weather and time)
i've noticed that since i've went to using spb based products/plugins the perf on my mda is way better! (tmobile mda usa w/kjam aku2 rom)
before i was using seperate apps for task managing and today screen info and had to reset daily. now i can go a few days with out a soft reset..
just my .02
oh yea, once you get pocket plus, extended themes will work! and you can make your own via a free add-on to the windows theme maker..

I am using handyshopper on my Jamin (Prophet) --- also moved from Palm
phoneAlarm (a must with auto-profile changing and notification managment, billing etc.)
interWrite (international keyboard support - only one that works with hardware keyboard Think outside bluetooth)
AEButton Plus (just indespensible with up to 4 actions per button, that's 56 actions at the tips of your fingers; a small problem is remembering them all
Wisbar Advance
Wisbar Advance Desktop (just adds so much to how your ppc is organized and how it looks)
Omapclock (enough said!)
TCMPC (much better than WMP in every possible way)
I also use a bunch of progs I wouldn't call musts, but they are useful-
Resco World Cup 2006
Resco Explorer and Registry add-in
PocketLan
Z2Remote2PC
Photo Contacts
etc.
For lists, I think List Pro is the best thing out there... syncs with amazon for library inventory descriptions, and with desktop lists

Here's the description
Catalog your collection quickly and easily,

The Collectorz.com programs for Windows let you enter your collection with ease, then Ilium's ListPro software lets you view your collection data while on the road, in the store or at a fair. Never buy duplicates again, you will always know what you own.
About ListPro by Ilium Software
ListPro is a multifeatured list manager for use on your Palm or Pocket PC device. Great for everything from simple to-do lists to a database for your favorite collection. Features include multiple column types, linked fields, alarms, import, export, unlimited note fields and much more. For more info: visit the ListPro website.
Use the Collectorz.com templates for ListPro to view your Collectorz.com data on your mobile device.
The two products are available from collectorz.com and iliumsoft.com/site/lp/listpro.htm
I've tested it out, and it works very well. If you have access to a barcode scanner, you only need to scan your book's barcode, and then you get all the info about the book from websites and inputed in the fields of the program. Amazing time-saving stuff. You can catalogue hundreds of books in less than an hour.
Hi ak123456, here is link to some of the mentioned above programs with discount for forum readers.
Without a doubt, the best app I've found for the Pocket PC is SBSH's PocketBreeze (details here).
It is a Today screen plug-in that makes the default Calendar, Tasks, Contacts and Messaging apps sing by providing an intuitive interface and quick access to features. It can also work with Pocket Informant which I notice you already have. Spb Diary is a copy of PocketBreeze and lacks a lot of the customisation features.
Aside from that, I've tried Spb Pocket Plus and while I found it quite good, it slowed down my device and had more features than I needed. I replaced it with SBSH's iLauncher (details here) which I embed in the PocketBreeze muti-tab interface and find it much leaner and snappier.
Other apps I use are:
- Dinarsoft MemMaid
- Dinarsoft Handyswitcher
- SBSH's PocketWeather
- Resco Explorer.
agree on PocketBreeze but nothing on Notes
PocketBreeze is by far the best application (after 10 years of Palm, HP, Toshiba, Axim, SPV C500 and now Qtek S200)
Since Notes were uncategorized on PPC, I search for a nice application to organize them. Phatnotes is great but not on my S200. Support says it has to do with security and certificates. After installing it ActiveSync produces an error on synchronization, uninstall and everything is fine again on the best pda I have had so far.

SPV M600 - WM5 Software

Im after a piece of software that is similar to Microsoft Money for my mobile device. Ive seen loads of stuff on Handango but I was wondering if anybody has any experience with these;
SPB Finance 2.6
Mastersoft Money V6
Cash Organiser 05 Premium
Alternatively if anyone could recommend one they are using currently
I know this is more of a tech site but im struggling to find any recommendations on other site I use, AVFORUMS. What other sites can I use to get recommendations?
Thanks in advance for any help. Ive had my M600 for about 2 months now and just got the hang of it. I want my first bit of software !!
Also heard great things about Wisbar Deluxe but not sure about it. Is it that good?
Most software can be downloaded for Trial, I can only advise you to test the programs yourself. Since it's very personal what is "the best" program.
Wisbar really looks great but for me it's slowing down my device to much. It's not very slow, but I wan't my device to response as fast as possible
Hi,
I have used SBP Finance and Cash Organizer. The problem with both of the softwares is that they can give you problems if you hard reset your device very often. The problem I am referring to is multiplication of records that you would have to manually remove. Overall I like SPB Finance better than Cash Organizer as its more user friendly.
This month's PDA Essentials (look in WH Smith) has a cover CD with a finance management tool included for free.

Today Screen Calendar Plugin Alternative.

Hello there!
Can someone please recomend me an alternative today screen calendar pluggin for the prophet.
im using the latest rom from lvsw (aku2.3.1) 28-11-06.
i have been using the one from o2 but it slows down alot the phone... takes too long to redesign the today screen!?!?
Well, waiting for sugestions!!! all the Best.
Joao Oliveira,
Lisbon, Portugal.
TodayAgenda is excellent
Calendar+
I'm using Calendar+, and it's free: http://www.mohairsofa.com/Default.aspx/document/10
PocketBreeze....!
I have tried several different plugins, and PocketBreeze is sooo versatile and powerful... Calendar+ and AMTasks+, for instance, are freeware, but they are much slower and less powerful, same for tAgenda. In my JamIn, Pbreeze works flawlessly and fast: money well spent.
Definitely TodayAgenda
You have to look at PocketBreeze. It is the most configurable application out there so you should be able to make it look exactly the way you want.
Go to: www.sbsh.net
My personal favorite is: SPB Diary
I've tried PocketBreeze, TodayAgenda, Calendar+ and the reason I like SPB Diary more is because it's better with one hand use for me
Also SPB Diary feels more responsive.
On the other hand, PocketBreeze is more customizable when it comes to font, bar and layout etc.
I guess it's just very personal
I vote for Pocket Breeze, in my opinion SPB products $uck big time... They make the S200 crawl.

I have to disagree on this one I've used SPB Diary in combination with SPB Weather. It didn't slow down my device at all.
I wouldn't say that SPB or SBSH products suck, I've used both on my Prophet and Wizard. Realy liked SBSH Pocket Plus on my Wizard but it doesn't work as well on my Prophet. Shame though, but I still like both. At the moment I just prefer SPB because of the one hand control

Must have apps?

I'm new to the windows mobile world but I'm loving my 8525. After a few days of reading I successfully upgraded to vp3g WM6 rom.
Now I'm wondering what are some of the must have apps that I should install?
Must have APPS )for me at least( .. Wisbar Advanced, Pocketbreeze, Phonealarm, PocketRSS, Madden 2006, Call of Duty 2.. Weatherpanel, Virtual Pool.. um .. yeah thats pretty much all I need..
Great choice, I have the vp3g 2.0 on my 8525 as well.
Currently I'm running (must have):
New Kaiser HTC Home Plugin
IM+ (for aim and google talk)
Opera browser
Resco Explorer
SPB Backup
Other junk:
SBSH Weather (not sure if its my favorite or not)
Slide2Unlock (dont know why I installed it)
Tweaks:
shogun cingy threaded sms hack (threaded sms conversation like on treo)
I need all these:

Got a link? did a search with no results.
My favourites are - Opera Browser, SPB Insight, SPB Diary, SPB Mobile Shell, SPB Backup, 1-Calc, Monopoly, Scabble, Microsoft Reader, TomTom 6, Google Maps, PHM RegEdit and Snails. Hope this long list helps.
If you like adding software - the first thing above all else to get is a full backup application. I use SPB backup but there are others. It will save you from having a miserable time when you have to do a hard reset (which you will at some point!)
Mike
I have been through alot of programs, and the one I can seem to live without is SPB Phone Suite. I find with the last 3 roms I have tried from here, this seems to work on all of them. And that makes me very happy.
I lke SPB Mobile Shell too. 23 years of being a jet aircraft mechanic, my fingers aren't what they used to be.
For IM try Octro
Others are The Core Pocket Mobile Player, MobiBlgr, Pocket Mechanic, and Nine Hole Golf.
I am still working on mixing and matching, but these I use the most.
I did alot of searching around and have a good compilation of programs. I had a Toshiba E740 when I was stationed in Japan, and I still have a few cool things from that stuuf I would like to find new versions of for my 8525.
