sometimes after using active sync to put in movies or mp3s this would happen to my memory stick!

whats going on? using t-mo 2.17 rom
Same here
Same here with 2.17 rom, no problem with older roms...
wtf, today at work my memory dissappered from the OS.
i just losted a bunch of data! wtf.
does the 21 rom do the same thing?
i don't know whats with my phone, but the memory card would just disconnect. like it won't read it anymore.
in the morning i see it. but by the afternoon, it's gone?
im using a 2gb stick on a 2.17 thanks.
pfffff... again, same here...
hmmmmm.... seems ur wizard catch the flu from mine  My 1 gig sandisk mini sd is vanishing few times a day also, even with 1.6.7.1 wwe qtek rom...
does anyone know how to fix the stupid problem!? its getting on my nerves!
I had exactly the same problem. Also, transfer speeds where very poor. In the end i ended up buy a new card which sorted. Turns out i just had a bad card off eBay.
I have had the problem of the memory card seemingly disappearing.
On checking closer, I noticed I had 'Storage Card' and 'Storage Card2'
Storage Card had one file on it and everything else was still on Storage Card2.
By deleting Storage Card abd soft reset, all was restored.
This has happened a couple of time.
If this happens to you, make sure you delete the right one.
mini SD
I've never unlocked the extended rom (Storage_card_2), so i have just Storage Card, a 1 Gig Sandisk mini SD. Still, it dissapears a couple of times a day, and i must soft reset my Wizard to appear again. Very, very frustrating
Missing data
Something similar has happened to mine as well....
I turned my PDA on and accessed the storage card just like I do on any other day, only to find that all of the files had disappeared!! Everything had gone - but when I went into the memory setting, where it tells you how much space is used on the card it is still showing up as being half full i.e. the data is still there but not showing up on explorer!!
What is this all about??!! It has never happened to me before!!
Just wish I could offer an explanation on how to fix this...
By the way I my rom is 2.21.4.1 - which is different to the ones posted above...
Ive had this problem 2-3 times before
to solve the data gone missing i just take out the mini sd and put it in again..
if that doesnt work...take mini sd out...soft reset...insert mini sd when the today screen shows
worked for me

nope that doesn't work, i'll be happy if it was as simple as that. what i would do is, plug the card in my laptop to read it, then safetly remove it.
then insert back into my phone, this is the only way for it to work for me.

i have a tmobile wing. it randomly freezes while using it, fades to white then off, turns off
sometimes only way for it to come back on i have to take out battery and put it back.
when i turn it on sometimes itll loop the tmobile thing, maybe make it to the windows mobile green page then turn off and try again.
ive reinstalled the tmobile rom, installed open touch, still the same thing.
i read about the memory card having a loop porblem so i took it out, still. tried installing total commander and renaming the file but it wont let me rename it.
thought the screen ribbon or another wasnt in good so i took it part and made sure i put everything in good.
maybe the fact that a pin that touches the battery it broken? see how they make an arc or so. and the 1 is broken. is that the problem maybe?

That may well be the case. The first thing to try is to plug the phone to the charger and see if the phone works properly. If it does the next thing would be to get a new battery.
I had the same problem and it was solved by installing a new battery.
Best of Luck
yes it does do it while plugged into charger. a little less though.
and ive noticed that when i try to fix the back cover, doesnt fit right so it pops off on 1 corner, i take it off and put it back on tight, from me pressing down the phone likes to freeze and reboot.
ive been thinking about a new battery. i guess ill go ahead and get one then.
Due to the amount of cards dieing. I want to start a database of dead cards to see if there are any patterns. I would like to have: Brand, Capacity, and where it was made. (if you can think of any other important info, I'll add that as well)
Just post the info and I will keep the original post up to date with a list of failed cards.

Huh? I've been using the same 8GB MicroSD card, SanDisk, for a few months now. Always works the way it should, and I've reformatted almost as many times as I have hard reset, which is a bunch.
If you read through the android thread, there are a bunch of people who have had cards quit working. I'm wanting to see if it's a problem with cheap cards or if it is something else. I'm willing to bet it's just cheap cards that do not perform write leveling.
Sandisk 4GB, speed rating 2.
Transcend 2GB
never failed yet .. still running happy, even with dzo's Android port
Transcend 4GB SDHC assembled in Taiwan.
2 months of normal use, and now corrupt. Returning for a different card

This thread is clearly for cards that DO NOT work. Who's to say your card fails 4 months from now.

I think its also important to know cards that are working as well.
Mine's probably not a SDHC, which maybe why it seems to work so far.
Ive been using Android for 3-4 months without issue on my SD card
cheap manufacturing
That's my conclusion well partly, I've been trough many sd cards and brands mine's and my friend's (they always come to me when something goes wrong)
after using many cards from the same manufacturer I had one or the other fail for no apparent reason, always make sure never to pull a card out while it's doing some operation, never write the card to full capacity either, there's nothing said on that , but just to be safe, still they keep failing. one thing I've notice is that this is happening more frequently lately more often specially on the vouge phone with wm6,and of course the bigger capacity cards.
I have to agree on the poor manufactoring. I have seen a huge increase in dead flash memory products recently. (3 or 4 friends with flash drives and one with an sd card)
I have noticed a difference in where they are made though. The Japanese cards seem to be of higher quality. That's one of the reason I wanted to keep up with where they are made. None of the flash drives i've seen dead have been made in japan.
The poor quality will eventually catch up with them.

I think you're 100% on the money. It's hard to reproduce card corruption as it seems very random as far as the damage done, and frequency.
Most PDA users (myself included) load up an SD card with 3rd party software as apposed to internal storage which is somewhat limited in size. This leaves plenty of room for Program Memory and less hangups.
It only makes sense that piling software on the SD card will cause an increase in simultaneous reading / writing over a period of time. Removing an SD card while the PDA is running / or even idling could easily cause a corrupted card, depending on whether a piece of software was randomly accessing data on that card at the moment of removal.
Now what can be done to eliminate this problem?
We need to develop a simple "switch" to isolate the SD slot from communication while removing or swapping a card. Microsoft realized this issue with SD cards and developed a "Safely Remove Hardware" wizard from your desktop PC. I've never had problems with SD cards / flash sticks once I religiously used this wizard to and from my PC.
Could someone development savvy write this code for PDA's, since Microsoft didn't feel the need to incorporate this functionality onto their Windows Mobile environments. I wouldn't know where to start lol.
Anyone agree?
Sooooooo, I replaced my internal sd card with a 4gb class 10. I used the "cut away the plastic" covering the card method because I was too lazy to take the phone apart. Now the phone will not turn on. Tried placing the original card back in......still nothing. Plug the phone in and I get a battery symbol with a yellow triangle and exclamation mark. Any thoughts?
I pried up the one edge of the piece of plastic that I removed which was close to the contact for the back cover, so maybe I messed up that contact and the phone thinks the cover is not on there? Was there not a fix for the Streak to eliminate the need for the back cover to be on for powering up?
Any help is sincerely appreciated since I now have no phone, which is clearly not going to be warrantied. Congratulations me
Don't know if this helps because it requires what you didn't want to do - take your Streak apart. But a quick look at that tutorial and it seems that the 'switch' for the back cover is not near the internal sd card, so perhaps your problem is something different?
Did you do a reset from the recovery? I believe that you need to di that to initialize the new sd card?
There are a few threads here and at MoDaCo dealing with the replacement of the internal sd card, more reading may be in order.

The innerSD is the black square in the top right corner, slightly to the top and right of the sd card picture (that is the outerSD slot)
The battery cover switch is near where the greenish square in the bottom left corner.
It's possible he might have damaged a trace that connects the switch, but it seems a bit unlikely for it to run exactly where cut and also happened to be the only trace damaged.
You could try installing streakdroid as it ignores the batt cover switch, assuming that's the only issue

Can we use microSD card reader for innerSD card too? Does fixing innerSD helps power on our device(not booting but just power on)?

The inner SD Card is just a 'normal' micro sd card, so yes if you remove it you can put it in a card reader.
Whether making sure that the inner card is working properly it will fix your problem is unknown.
If you have not taken your Streak apart I recommend cutting the area above the inner card to remove it. I have done this to two Streaks with no issues. YMMV.
Thank you marvin,
Ill try it tomorrow, hope it will fix the device.
Sent from my Dell Venue using XDA App
The innerSD is formatted in ext3, so you'd need to be able to read ext3 partitions if you wanted to examine it's contents
A few days ago I used TheManii's guide for flashing an image to the innerSD and it went off without a hitch, and solved a small error I was getting when booting into recovery. So if you want to eliminate a variable, I would highly recommend that so you know it has nothing to do with your problem
Hey Mi Lover and other engineers!
You must deal with this problem have
The solution is simple
Without using special equipment
Only the amount of glue!
You must do the following steps in order to get the correct result
1- Pull out the metal part of the SIM card with razor blade

2- Stick SIM card with amount of glue! (just a little!)
attention:
1- This work is very delicate so cut the around of sim card carefully with razor. (careful dont cut ur hand )
2- dont use amount of glue to stick sim card to sd card. (if u use a lot of glue the height of sd card will be increase and u cant placed sim's slot!
3- It's better use 3G sim card to do it (the IC's are smaller than 4G) if you use 4G press and smash edge of sim card to sleep on the sd card!
4- and last guidance is use 128gig smartphone it's difficult way if u are impatient!

Thanks, tried with 4g sim and 64gb sandisk and works well. Used for 2 weeks now without any trouble.
Only the problem is I managed to put them in... it was hard to do so as it was thicker 4g sim. I used little force.
Now I worry how will I get them out (haven't tried yet)
Edit: After another week I tried to pull sim tray out and it came out ok.
Don't try this, I ruined my SD card as well as the SIM card. This works great, why take the risk?

Well I have broken two sim cards when trying to install this way, all was in pretty good visual condition (not so ugly as above) and fits perfectly in the bed with sd card. Seems that sim card is very sensitive to any pressure when is "naked", but this extender is maybe some ugly solution.
The extender fits in my (flip cover) case without any problem and so the SIM card is very well hidden, you can't see or feel it. If you only use a silicon case you will slighty feel a little bump where the SIM card is attached.

I don't know, on my Mi Max I'm still on Android 7 (using GlobeROM). On my Samsung Note 7 however, I'm using a custom ROM on Android 8 in which this option of simultaneously using 2SIM & SD was made available again (I thought Samsung had blocked this option, but it seems Android 8 is doing that...). So, I guess developers might know how to bypass this.

Hi!
My LG phone is doing weird after i did a factory reset 2 days ago. The battery empty's like a waterfall and the phone is continiuously hot.
I tried to do another factory reset/wipe but i got the same issue again. Even with the battery saver turned on, the phone stays alive for only 3 hours with 12 minutes screen on time.
Screenshot battery usage:

What can i do to fix this?
So i did a reset again, installed all my apps, logged in to them, the only thing that i did not do was place the sim card. And it works perfectly! But the moment i pit the sim in it, the battery drains like crazy again due to 'Android System' using all the resources continiously. What the hell is going on? ??
Did you try to do a factory reset using the power button and the Volume down button. Is it going to make a difference maybe. I usually do a factory reset, once with settings so I can wipe the sd card then I use the power button option, so yes twice. works for me.
Yes that is what i did, after that the issue started. The weird thing is, i used another phone (samsung galaxy s3) and the same thing happened there! I just received a new simcard to see if that was the cause of the problem. I hope this issue is over now, i will message here if it is resolved or not.
Edit: sadly it does not! Android os does still use all of the battery, so the sim swap dis not work. Can this be something related to my google account and the settings that come with it? How can i find out why android os is using so much battery?
Tried another system wipe, checked the APN settings since it only drains while sim is in the phone, but that didnt help either

No i am not, only using regular apps like whatsapp, facebook and such things. No beta's of any kind. The problem also happened rivht after factory reset. Only placed sim and logged in with my google account and it happened already. If i dont place sim the problem is gone.
I think i found the problem, it seems the LG G6 is not reading the sim correctly sometimes. That would explain the phone eating trough the battery, restarting into safe mode at night, and sometikes giving the error that it cant find all wifi networks due to simcard. I'm afraid its hardware related since a factory reset did nor help.
It could be that your little sim tray holder is deformed, and no longer able to properly align the sim card.
I replaced my sim tray holder after it broke, and things works great. I think they are down to less than $5 on ebay now. I bought two trays just in case the tray breaks again.
