Bluetooth... How can I make it work? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Initially, I had the following stacks:
Microsoft - for my XDA 2
IVT Bluesoleil - for my PC
I can't get Activesync to work, and I am not a fan of IVT anyway, so I shifted to Widcomm
Having similar problems, and having a past experience with Widcomm for my XDA, I installed Widcomm as well for my XDA
My main goal really is, not to get Activesync to work (but it would be great if I accomplish that), but to have an internet connection in my XDA through the connecting PC.
However, if i set Widcomm's Local Service: Network Access to "Allow other devices to access the Internet/Lan via this computer." I get the following error when I attempt to connect:
The Network Access connection failed: Can't connect when both sides are configured as NAP.
Is there any way not to configure my XDA as NAP?[/img]

you can just use ms bluetooth software on the pc

when the xda is connected to activesync it have the same network
access as the pc so you can surf on the internet too

XDAII AND DIAL-UP

hi there ,ive just had a search on this forum on how to set this up but i cant really find anything?
anyway here goes what i would like to do is use my laptops dial-up internet connection from my xdaii via bluetooth? ive managed to get the devices talking but i dont really know how to set-up the xda from there to access my internet account?
do i need to have my laptop connected to the internet first then connect via bluetooth or does my laptop just need to be powered up?
Do you mean that you want to browse the net on your XDA II through your lappie?
Due to the current Bluetooth stack on the XDA II, the only way to do this via Bluetooth is to set up ActiveSync via Bluetooth, then use the passthrough functionality of ActiveSync (which is sort of like using a proxy server - just make sure you enable the 'this network connects to the internet' option under your 'work' network on the XDA, and enable passthrough in ActiveSync.
There's a few good posts on setting up the connection, so do a search on this forum for 'bluetooth' and 'activesync'.
Finally I got it all done using my xdaII as modem and bluetooth for bridges...accessing from my laptop to surf the net.
Procedures are on the offical xda site, but then u do need a Bluetooth tool kit and set it as modem during bonding.

bluetooth therminal services

when i connect my xda2 to activesync
and then try to use that connection to get hold of my
pc desktop using therminal services
i get the login screen and i login
but that kicks off my pc user and that disable activesync
and that kicks off my connection from my xda2
can anybody confirm that you cant use therminal services
when using activesync to connect to the pc ?
I know what you mean. As long as your remote desktop is active on your xda2, then activesync will still be running. Just log back in with your pc and that will log you off your terminal services, leaving activesync still running! tried running 2 user accounts at the same time but i still had the same problem
I think I know why you are having these problems. Basically from what I have seen is that when you connect to the Internet via an ActiveSync pass-through, it assigns your XDA with a 192.... IP Address and blocks a lot of ports. I noticed this when I tried to access certain SIP ports via the ActiveSync connection that can generally be accessed via an open GPRS connection. I think the best way out of this is by setting up you PC as a Bluetooth LAN server and then connecting the XDA to it via Bluetooth; thus totally bypassing ActiveSync. This way, as the XDA is now virtually a node on your network and assuming that your internet connection is shared, you should be able to browse freely without any automatic firewalls. This can be done with HP iPAQs, but as the Bluetooth facilites on the XDA are limited, it requires a lot of effort and extra software.

Bluetooth internet

if my PC are conected to the internet and i want to connect my xda II via bluetooth, can i use the current internet used by PC? how
WWW thru bluetooth
Yes, Bond your XDA to the PC and connect via activesync. Once connected, open the internet browser on the XDA and you can surf the net.
How bout without using activesync, cuz i want to connect to internet via bluetooth secretly without knowing the person using the pc.
ms bluetooth stack dont support it
read here for info about how you can do it

Network via bluetooth
Hi,
I am also trying the same thing. (Connecting without activesync)
Maybe you have to set up a network on bluetooth.
I would also like to print thru blutooth on the XDA2, so it uses the PC's printer on the network.
I am sure it can be done... not sure how

XDA 2, Bluetooth, Activesync Passthrough - so close !

Hi,
I have an XDA 2 (Rom 1.72 - the o2 standard one)
I am using the standard MS BT stack on the XDA
On my PC (Windows XP SP2) I have a Tecom BT3030 using the WIDCOM 1.3.2.7 stack.
Activesync (3.8) via bluetooth works perfectly (hurah!)
I can also get onto IRC, MSN and the web via the XDA when the Activesync connection is established.
However,
If I set activesync pass-through to "Work" I can only access my LAN.
If I set it to "The Internet" then I can only access the internet.
Trouble is.... I need both
Is there a way of forcing activesync on the PC to let me use both, or a way of forcing it to give me an IP from my LAN ?
I have a router on my LAN, that uses DHCP.
Ideally, I want my XDA to get an IP address on the LAN, that would be perfect, since I would then be able to use it just like any other network device.
From what I have read, the WIDCOM stack on the XDA help me solve the problem.
I downloaded one from here named BluetoothGPS which I installed. I must say, I didn't get anywhere with it (I hard to hard reset ). Although that was before I had all this working with the MS stack, so maybe I should have another go.
Thanks
DaWolfey
To answer my own question, I didn't get anywhere with "make activesync use both network and internet" plan so I did the following:
Flashed up to the finalzero wn2003se release
Installed the widcomm 1.5.0.0801 stack on it.
Stayed with the Widcomm 1.3.2.7 stack on my pc.
Played around for a while and now Activesync works via BT, as does PAN (which is exactly what I was aiming for)

Surf the net with bluetooth and home connection

Hi all,
I've seen a lot of threads specifying how one would go about using the bluetooth to share the phone's internet connection. However, I would like to do the opposite, that is, share the PC's internet connection via bluetooth so that I can surf the net on my phone (I do not have wifi). Any help would be most appreciated.

many more hits of you use search and search "bluetooth AND modem"
thanks for the reply, but i already know how to do this. Perhaps you didn't understand my question; I do not want to use my XDA as a bluetooth modem. I would like to use my home ADSL connection via bluetooth to access the internet through my phone. This feature was there by default in my SE P910i, and I'm sure it should be possible to do this via my XDA as well. Once again, I do NOT want to use my XDA as a bluetooth modem
when connected to activesync pda's have the same network access as the pc they are connected to unless one have disabled it
so synch with bluetooth to your pc and you got it's internet
Check this page. Hope it helps you

I'm successfully running such a setup, using Linux (w/ bluez stack) on the Internet Gateway. However, I had only luck with the Widcomm stack on the Windows Mobile, w/ the MS stack, I could not manage to find any way to use DUN or NAP. With Widcomm, you can configure access via a "Bluetooth Access Point", which will use DUN services on the Host (Gateway) computer. On Linux, this means setting up dund (comes with bluez) and configuring a PPP profile for it.
Any idea if Widcomm BT stack is available for installing it on WM5. I think mine is with MS by default and couldnt find an option to configure it.
I think it isn't offered for free to the public. Nevertheless, there seem to be a few CABs with the broadcom/widcomm stack out there in the WWW. Google might lead you the way...
Thanks a lot for the feedback guys.
I have succesully used DUN with both my original iMate Jamin ROM and PDAViet 4.0.0.0.6 ROM to access the internet via a linux box running Bluez and dund.
I was hoping the new PAN profile in wm6 would allow me to simplify and setup a standard wm6 PANU -> linux NAP. However it looks like wm6 only supports running as a NAP and wont allow you to do that unless your connected to the internet via GRPS etc.
Is it possible to either add support for PANU in wm6 or activate the NAP without an active connection?
