Hi all,
Following problem:
- Qtek 2020 (or 2020i), combined with a SD-card , TomTom Navigator 5 and own software
1. Qtek 2020(i) works fine with SD, TomTom 5
2. Qtek 2020(i) works fine with SD, own software
3. Qtek 2020(i) works fine with SD, TomTom 5 and own software ONLY WHEN THE SD-card is slow (less then 40x)
We tested much different SD-card with different chipsets and only the real slow cardtypes work. The problem is that those cards aren't available anymore on the market, so we are looking for a solution to slow-down the SD I/O speed to the card.
How can this be done in Windows Mobile 2003 (se)??
Thanks for any solution or tricks to solve this problem!
Sam

I have an MDA Vario with Imate Rom and an adapt bluetooth GPS. After about an hour of navigating tomtom crashes the entire device. All hard-buttons fail - nothing happens. I cant turn it off either, only a soft reset works.
In Dutch forums other users, though not all, have similar experiences. Anyone here experience crashes? I have no resident software except Magic Button.
noone else experiencing crashes here?
maybe taking the sd card out will un-freeze it?

I have the same on Qtek 9100:

For now I only suspect the sd card. Do you have sandisk 1GB?
If you remove sd card while TomTom running you will have the same result.
when i click on tomtom navigator 5.21 on qtek 9100, it'll hangs forever until resetting. What now? I've sandisk 1GB too...
I suspect it is the ROM (Imate K-Jam now). I heard many positive experience with English T-Mobile ROM so Maybe I'll try that.
Crash after use of Tom Tom Navogator 5
Same experience. Crashed after use, disconnecting the supply and GPS module cable. Anyone who had the device working again ? And may we know how you did it
Looking to get a GPS setup now for my wizard.
I think I will be getting this bluetooth receiver unless anyone can tell me a reason not to ( ie its rubbish ) http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8590.htm
Which version of tom tom will work with the wizard ? Is it 5.21 onwards ?
How big of a memory card will I need to run tom tom ? Will 512 meg do ? Are there any makes to avoid ? I was thinking of one of the mobymemory ones at £21.99.
Are there any troubles with the wizard and tomtom 5.21 ? Its not something I have read much about as ive only just decided to get one.
Many Thanks.
I have a MDA Vario running TomTom Navigator 5, V5.21, I am sure if you buy the software new then any installation problems with WM5 will have been resolved, if not; I do have a step by step guide for installing the software (original) and 5.21 update. The software runs perfect without any problems whatsoever.
I use a Holox BT-321 BLUETOOTH GPS RECEIVER. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BT-321-BLUETO...499429QQcategoryZ4668QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
I also use a 512MB Sandisk mini SD card. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sandisk-512MB...itemZ5862591470QQcategoryZ96991QQcmdZViewItem
In car I am using a Brodit Active mount P/N: 968650 & Pro Clip. http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8670.htm
I have subscribed to TomTom Traffic and use PocketGPS camera warnings with POI Voice alert; the above configuration works with the Wizard perfectly.
I give TomTom Navigator 5 out of 5.
I have an XDA Mini S (provider : O2), and I am running Tom Tom 5.21 perfectly fine. Also, something that will answer your question regarding the GPS product : http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8590.htm , is that it works perfectly fine with the XDA Mini S and the Tom Tom 5 or 5.21 software. I know that, because I am using the above mentioned GPS device. It works ok, it last 10 to 12 hours without charging, it picks up satellites quick, its battery is a BL5c- compatible to many Nokia phone batteries,it comes with a usb cable, so you can charge it by connecting it to your laptop/pc and it has a car adapter as well. The only prob I have with this GPS device is that for the moment I can't have it to work with the my pc ( for example:using it with MS Autoroute ). I believe the reason is that the device does not come with installation drivers for the pc. If you download a cracked version of Tom Tom you can find installation procedures at the following links:

Finally, concerning the memory card you need to buy, I think that 256 is more than enough to run the Tom Tom 5 with Great Britain's map installed. This map is around 120 meg and plus the maximum of 50meg for the TomTom software, I believe 250 is ok. But, is better to buy a bigger mini sd card, if you want to add more maps.
I have a mobymemory 1Gb mini sd card installed in my XDA mini S and it works perfectly fine!!! See link:
http://www.mobymemory.com/1GB_2GB_mini_SD_miniSD_Memory_Cards_fromSanDisk_and_MobyMemory.asp
Also, you may find really usefull the USB miniSD Reader/ Flash Pen Drive - to make your mini sd work as a pen drive
I hope this info is good enough for you!!!
I thought it may be of use to future TT5 users. Today I bought TT5 Navigator in the UK from Dixons (yeah hate the shop too but it was an impulse buy). There was no CD supplied but instead a 128mb SD card was in the box with TT5 and the UK maps. After I copied this to my mini SD it installed perfectly first time, straight out of the box. Having checked in the preferences the version is 5.210 (5430).
Unfortunately it doesn't rotate the screen when I slide the keyboard out. But at least they seem to have fixed the installation.
EDIT: I have an O2 XDA Mini S but did not install any of the O2 software.
But you can flip the screen in the TomTom setup all four ways
hiya
does TT5 works on the xda exec as well??
i am trying to install TT5. it came on a cd. loading instructions said to copy zip file to my documenys on xda exec and great britian maps on sd card then synchronise the xda and run cd and it should go fine. but this does not happen ? anybody knows about this problem?

How well do you find it runs on the Wizard?
I'm in pretty much exactly the same position, although I have a slightly older 5.0 version which I'm running on my X50V. It seems daft to take both the X50V and XDA Mini S so I'm looking to get Tomtom on the Mini S - my main concern is battery draw, I assume you're using a BT GPS receiver, how quickly does it run down?
On another note, anyone know what the activation limits are for Tomtom? I've activated it once around October last year on the X50V, the Wizard is obviously a different device.

@mohammadasif
had the same problem installing TT5 on my wizard.
TT5 installation does check the capacity of your memory card and quits without any message ich it's insufficient.
After installing a 1G SD card everything went well.

Would there be any chance you could zip all of the files up and upload them somewhere? You need a license code to activate the software, so it wouldn't be illegal. It's just that alot of people seem to be having problems.
I have recently bought the TomTom5 application and have been able to install it no probs onto my wizard (actually an MDA Vario with a Mr. Clean flash ROM!).
The problems I am having revolve around the memory card. I have used a Moby 2gb mini-sd card for nearly a year and have encountered no problems. However the TomTom programme refuses to recognise it and load the maps from either of my computers.
Does anyone know why this could be? The TomTom people even provided a replacement CD but to no avail
Any help gratefully received
Have just got my Vario back from being repaired (it was replaced with a new handset) I had Navigator 6 running fine on the old one, put my memory card in and coppied the cab files over to install the program again but now it won't find the GPS device, I've tried coping the old navigator.cfg file into the program files but still doesn't work, any ideas?
sussed it, I forgot to pair the GPS device with the vario and then select the com port 7.
It would not load on my MDA Vario in the Uk.
I am runnig a WM6 rom but i believe it should work, trying to load direct from the dvd via activesync.
Any ideas ?
Mine only work just after a soft-reset. It seems TT6 has problems with WM6, need to wait for them to come up with an update/patch (hopefully not TT7 that will cost another gazillion £). Anyway, there are reports that TT6 works on WM6 devices (not Wizard).
