I was wondering if we have a software out there that can backup the sms messages as text files? I have searched all over the net but to no avail. Thanks for your response in advance.

Hi all,
I know this is a repeated and common problem, but I have to post this anyway.
this is the 3rd time that my Messaging in my wizard stops working for know clear reason, I can't read incoming sms, I can't send sms anymore.
I need to backup my sms file because it contains very important information, but cemail.vol can't be copied to another location...
What to do please???????????

use a backup program such as spb backup
and all the mails and sms are actually sotred under \windows\messaging as *.mpb files.
Those you can copy and rename as eml for mails or txt for sms.
the databases in cemail.vol is made up of pointers to these files

SPB Backup doesn't provide an option to backup specific Messaging Accounts

I have an old txt file with some sms I have copied in the far 1999..
Now I want to add them to the sms inbox on my JAMin. Is that possible?

Are there files I can back up to save my messages? I want to reload my original software, or possibly upgrade to this Wizard_Love_2[1].26.10.2_WWE_Novii_CF2.rar file I've had collecting dust for a few months.
I have Resco file explorer so I can see the system folders. Where (if possible) do I find and backup the files containing the messages (text msgs, MMS, etc)?
Doesn't anybody have any info on this?

Try looking for a program called PIM Backup...it's by some other forum member...i think it was dotFred or something of that sort...it'll be able to backup your messages.

i was'n able to find the file(s), where the incomming sms-data is stored. are they accessable directly from the xda/pda/... or via activesync-connection? can i get any access to these sms?
i'm using the excalibur with wm6.

They're not just in a folder. They're stored in some kind of datafile.
I don't know where unfortunately. You can find more info on this at the MSDN.
Hmm, seems that \PIM.VOL contains the contacs etc. but it seems, like this file don't saves the SMS.
So any suggestions, where to find the "SMS"-datafile?
By the way, does anybody know where to find some information about the structure of PIM.VOL?

For the info about the PIM.VOL structure you have to be at the MSDN. There you can find all information about how to access them. (this is also possible with .NET Compact Framework)

\CEMAIL.VOL as far as i know, look into that file name, are you trying to backup your sms's ?

yesterday evening was forced to make a hard reset on my htc touch and after you restore a file backup I found the surprise,i missed my folders or SMS or MMS but i find only of the Outlook folder... A big trouble !
Someone knows kindly tell a modify to registry log file restore Sms and MMs folder for back to receive and return to see and to send text messages as the first ...
