I am thinking of getting an XDA Exec on O2 as this is the cheapest way of getting a new one.
BUT I want to put my work Orange SIM in.
So are ALL Execs from O2 unlocked?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perfect.
I can buy a new XDA EXEC for £377 (inc 12 months line rental) and then put my work SIM card in.

It will only work if O2 has supplied the unlatching code, if it is unlatched then your Vodafone sim will work fine.

I have seen 30 units sold on ebay by one guy at £399 each, I saw another go for £360, might be worth looking there.
i bought mine from a bancrupt stock for £200! :wink: used the program (xda2unlock-setup-v2.2.exe) to unlock it to any network, upgraded to WM2003SE created a custom Extended Rom, and Set up MMS Messaging all with info off this site! Ive now sold my nokia 6230 and my old hp ipaq and i'm currently £50 up on the deal !!

Almost all XDA Exec's offered on eBay come withour a sim-lock. What is the experience from the owners here? I want to buy one from eBay.
My Exec from O2 was shipped without a sim lock. I only tried a Orange and Virgin sims in it, they work. Good luck.
I got mine direct from O2 Online and it was not locked.
I tried my new xda Exec with two different SIMs (apart from o2's):
Orange(uk) SIM and a foreign Orange SIM.
Luckily it seems that there are no SIMlocks on the xda Execs, from my own experience and that of others on various forums.
I also seriously doubt that o2 would put SIMlocks partially on only some of the Execs (but then you can never know for sure... :? )
Mine came from O2 online and it works fine with my t-mobile SIM including 3G
hi guys i was thinking of getting a set under a 12month tariff, which right now online is 150quid. could someone confirm for me if the SIM is locked or unlocked under that plan (the online50, i think)? dont want to go back to singapore and find it cant work with my local SIM card...

My XDA Exec works with the O2 and Vodafone 3G SIMs. PS look at my thread on how you could get the Exec for less than £300
I have a business O2 XDA Exec monthly contract and it is unlocked.

As far as I know the o2 Xda Exec's come unlocked.
My own Exec arrived unlocked and I have tried a foreign SIM with it.
Having said all that - there is no guarantee, and o2 staff don't know much about that.
In the worst case - just return the device to o2 within the first couple of weeks.

I'm trying to get my friend from the UK to help me purchase the O2 Exec.
When he called them up to check, they told him that the device was locked.
Is there any way for me to unlock the device? He says the shop cant unlock it. Are there any unlockers here that I can use?
Or are all the Execs not locked and my friend got the wrong information?
Would appreciate all your help. Thanks in advance.

when did you get yours? my friend's gettin it for me tomorrow and he's located in scotland. would that be a factor you reckon?
I got mine from O2 online yesterday and I'm currently using my Proximus (Belgium) SIM in it with no problems. Despite what O2 told you, I'm fairly sure that the O2 XDA Execs are not simlocked.

I was told that it would be impossible to buy XDA Trion in O2 shops as they are not going to get any...
Only online/over the phone.
Is this true? Can some1 confirm this please?

Not in the UK for a while, no. Germany's O2 shops have 'em for sale (or plan to very soon). The Trion replaced the AsusTek-manufactured XDA Zinc, which "failed" the network tests (probably cause it was godawful). Last I heard, the plan was to start selling the Trion in the UK in April... And of course now it's May, and there's still no sight of it...

I'm asking if UK o2 shops are going to get XDA TRION or we will have to buy it online/over the phone...
Some1 from o2 told me that shops are not going to get XDA TRION and the other one PDA.
